I know all things can change, but unfortunately the effects of your powers are something you experience every time you hit the button.
I just...eh...The sounds really disappointed me. The first sound sounded like someone took two or three existing game sounds and ground them together. And then animal noises and the like?
I'd like to hear something...harmonic. Something angelic, ethereal, vocal at least. I know some might complain that wouldn't be very masculine for a man. But really, is a woof howl any better for a woman? There has to be some middle ground I'd hope. -
Bah...Couldn't get out of my work in order to make to the show. I would have gnawed my arm off to be there if I could. Ah well, next time certainly. Bah NCSoft bag. It's all about CoH/CoV

To be honest, this is the second time someone has mentioned that I seemed like in a bad mood. Sorry about that - I really wasn't. In fact, it was my birthday that week and Philly is my hometown. My only stress was family related!
The worse thing about the show (if there was anything to call "worse") was that people were more interested in the NCSoft bag than City of Heroes!

Ditto and Ditto. I've NEVER found a game that was so group friendly, made it so easy to gather with friends and so elegant in handling variations in level. It's perfect for the person who can only play now and again.
I hear the same said of WoW, that much of their player base are casual gamers, but I've found it takes me a good deal of time to gather everyone together and God forbid one of your friends is a rabid player, there's no way to play with them once they've left you in the dust.
Plus come on...Flight, superjump, teleport, sexy costumes and the ability to smack villains around like rag dolls. What more can you ask for

I've played a few MMORPG's in the past (going back to the original launch of Ultima Online... wooooooo!), but this is by far the best and it's set the bar for all the games that will be produced in the future.
Since I don't have much time to play I debated long and hard about signing up... but this game truly achieves the "fun even if you only play for an hour once-in-a-while" goal that Statesman laid out. I came to love it so much that I bought my wife a new computer, video card, and game account so we could play together.

Happy Anniversary, everyone!!!
I've played...Just about every MMOG that has ever come out. City of Heroes it he first MMOG I've ever kept an interest in for this long. Between the absolutely incredible team of developers and staff and the sheer fun of the game, I've found myself always drawn back into the thick of things(even from WoW :P).
Sincerely, thanks to everyone for making CoH a wonderful gaming/social experience for me. I'm having a blast! -
Who We Are
Charitable Efforts: The Astraios Foundation is a charitable organization with a sixty-year history of serving the Paragon City community. Privately funded, one hundred percent of all donations are put to work through its network of partner charities.
Heroic Endeavors: In August 2004, The Astraios Foundation announced the formation of a sponsored super-powered team. The goal was to assist in the re-establishment of law and order throughout the city as well as using its heroic assets to aid in its charitable works.
Our History
On December 7th, 1941, terror struck Paragon City in the form of black-clad Nazi troopers. Property, both military and civilian was destroyed and incalculable human suffering was inflicted on the citys citizens. While the US Government and the Freedom Phalanx took on the burden of recruiting and training heroes to aid in the war effort, extraordinary individuals started the monumental task of rebuilding the city. In the spirit of human compassion and to honor the founders son who was killed in the Nazi attack on that terrible day, The Astraios Foundation was formed.
Our Partners
Though not a complete list, some of our more active partner charities include: Americas Promise Youth Shelter, the Community Service Society of Paragon City, Heifer International (Who donate farm animals to the poor and who teach how to make money through animal husbandry) and Helping Paw (Dedicated to the rescue of animals and offering a no-kill shelter).
How You Can Help
The Astraios Foundation is looking for individuals willing to donate their time and talents. No amount of assistance is too little and every offering appreciated beyond measure. If you feel moved to work with us in our effort to make this city a better place for all, please contact us.
In addition, we are looking for heroes to join our team. As a charitable organization we do not offer salaried employment though we see to the needs, both professional and personal, of our members. We ask merely that any applications be civic-minded and willing to serve the community as both hero and friend.
OOC Notes: The Astraios Foundation is actively new members. We play regularly, but casually and encourage having fun and enjoying the game content versus power leveling. Though were not a strict roleplaying group we welcome those who wish to do so. Youll find members of the group adding stories, character bios, etc to our site. We encourage this creativity and enjoy the depth it provides to the characters and to the game itself. Feel free to contact one of our captains in game: Hallimeda, Civil Liberty, Suspicion, Crimson Diva or Kronic on the Victory server. -
You don't know how excited I am about this! I LOVE Eden Studios. I'm a huge fan of games like AFMBE, WitchCraft and Buffy. They're one of my favorite game companies.
I'm so psyched to own this!! Now I'll have to decide amongst VAV, Marvel and this for which system to run hero games in :P

First of all, it'll be a Unisystem game - but with tweaks to combat.
Secondly, I might be GMing games of it at the big cons (Gen Con, Origins, etc.) - so keep your eyes peeled.

How about a title...
Expansion 3: A Council of War

In other words, we should test more and complain less?
Agreed.
[ QUOTE ]
These are most certainly reactions; had we seen this better on the Training Room server we would have changed each and every one.

They've developed a delivery system that will shock the dickens out of players through they're keyboard when they think of power leveling/herding/etc.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Statesman, you've been hinting at changes "coming soon" to deal with lack of challenge at the mid to upper levels for quite a while now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Right after Expansion 2 goes live.

I realize essentially this is going to be a code change to the way the powers work. But eventually would new art be added to accompany it? It might give it a bit more of a 'heroic' feel if the tanker starts animating/glowing/etc when they're peeved.
[ QUOTE ]
Essentially, each hit (if successful) will give you a short term damage buff. Different powers would have different buffs; but if you could string enough hits together you can "peak" your damage.
[/ QUOTE ] -
Oh...We can fix that now. We have the technology!
"Uh..yeah...Pos. We have a little....'project' for you." :P
[ QUOTE ]
*shakes her head* Nope. Positron is a guy.

The attitude of gaming that requires you address this kind of question sorta chafes my butt a bit. You know, the whole powergaming concept of how many dps can you pump out or how fast can you down groups to give enough XP to power level your character(s) thing.
Ug...If the game were reduced to nothing but street sweeping, I'd be out of here in a heartbeat. I like what you said at the end, that by and large people are doing missions. Why, because they're FUN! Missions (story arcs especially) give you a REASON to do what you're doing (i.e. being a hero). And with every update you folks are making missions better and more interesting.
So by and large, THANK YOU for making this game worth playing. THANK YOU for making it unique enough to keep our attention span for more than five minutes instead of reducing it to a dumb shooter game with statistics. And, finally, THANK YOU for taking the time to read the forums and address our concerns. It's very much appreciated!
[ QUOTE ]
So, in street sweeping, we've noticed that large groups (say 5 or more) going around city zones - and then complaining that group XP isn't good. When, quite frankly, these groups are street sweeping in areas that don't have anything to challenge a group that size. Risk = reward. And because there's less risk, they don't get as much XP. But if the same group were to go into a Hazard Zone, they'd find larger spawns, and reap the benefit of the group XP bonus.
[/ QUOTE ] -
Not to feed the off-topic flames, but I agree. I mean I think the graphics are pretty lush (gorgeous hand-painted look) and the classes generally are pretty unique (mana, rage, power/combo gauge, etc). That being said, it's fairly 'eh.'
I've found a few cases where everyone had to camp spawns already and the map makes it hard to easily find things (CoH has had the best nav system I've had the pleasure of using so far...and SWG. But lets not go there).
I think it'll do well and I think its been incredibly stable and low in latency for a stress test. But there's just something really...catchy about CoH that I love. That and you can tell how excited the Devs are to bring us new features, fix things and make the game world more rich. I love that!
[ QUOTE ]
I have been in the Stress Test for WoW...and it is not what I had expected. In fact it is fairly dull. Where some will find it fun I don't plan on playing it. CoH has more interest and a better system in my opinion.

Oh cool. I didn't know precisely how good Stamina was or was not. I have a scrapper friend who's drooling to unlock that power.
[ QUOTE ]
There is not present plan to modify Stamina. It takes 14 levels, and 2 powers to unlock stamina. Then it takes 2 DO enhancements for Staminas END Recovery buff to be as effective for one player as AM gives to your whole team. Yes it is Auto, but it stil does not give all the other buffs AM does.
[/ QUOTE ] -
I agree. I have absolutely no problem with my rad blast costs. They seem comparable with any other character I have. As long as I don't go buff/heal crazy in a battle, I can pretty much blast until I run dry and feel satisfied.
[ QUOTE ]
I see nothing wrong with Rad Blast and RAd Emmision END cost. It is comperable to all other sets, and identicle to their counterparts on others sets.
