  1. I'm trying to work on my new Blaster build for when Fitness becomes inherent. I'm deciding between Assault or Tactics with a Gaussian Chance for Build Up. Does Tactics have to be toggled to get the Chance for Build Up to work? How will my damage bonus over time compare between the two choices? Thanks.
  2. I spend several hours the other day emailing recipes to myself to organize the recipes I'm saving for the future. In the process, I came up with a few ideas on how to streamline the inventory process:

    1) Instead of each salvage container in a base holding a specific 30 items, why not make it so you have the option of one base salvage list, but each bin you buy increases the amount you can hold by 30. Everytime you click a salvage bin, it brings up the list. If I have one bin, the list contains at most 30 items. If I have two bins, all the items from both bins will be in the list, up to 60 items, etc. It could be optional to account for SGs where individual members have there own salvage bins.

    2) Assuming the above could not be implemented, it would be nice to just be able to drag and drop to rearrange salvage in individual bins. I like to keep my sets together in the enhancement bins.

    3) At the Auction House it would be nice to have a "Sell to Auction House" option. It would be worth the same as selling a recipe/salvage at a store, but without the hassle of having to actually go to the store once you realize that there have been no bids on that particular item since the beginning of time.
  3. I respecced out of Static Discharge on my Electriple(Patent Pending) Blaster ages ago. I recently got it on my Elec/Elec Dominator and noticed that the Assault version has a different animation than what I remember. The Dom version is very fast but I remember the Blaster version having that two hands up in the air animation that I think is shared by Flares (and others, I'm sure). Did they change the animation on the Blaster version or are there just two different animations?
  4. 1. How does slotting Sleep Enhance in Static Field work? Does it increase the number of ticks or increase how long each tick makes the enemy sleep for? Does the patch itself stay out a fixed amount of time regardless of slotting?

    2. Jolting Chain takes three types of IO sets: Ranged Damage, KB, and End Mod. The damage is non-existent and it's my understanding that KB enhance make the KD (which is good) into KB (which is bad). Has anyone tried slotting this for End Mod? It has a base drain of 10 End. It seems that with slotting (maybe an Efficacy Adaptor set), you could get some pretty good drainage out of this power in addition to the very helpful KD.

    3. Am I missing something about Synaptic Overload? I know some people love confuse powers but I can't stand them. I know you don't lose a lot of XP for the confused mobs, but it's enough that I find it annoying. This is really my first experience with an AoE Confuse: are confuse powers supposed to be a situational powers or a "Throw it whenever it's up" powers?

    Thanks!
  5. My computer is slowly but surely driving my fiance out of her mind. It's been through some repairs lately and in the process, two of the 80 mm fans were replaced and the replacements are extremely loud. Can anyone make a recommendation for a nice, quiet high-quality brand of 80 mm fans? Thanks!

Since you mentioned it...I often avoid taking Laser Beam Eyes on my Tankers/Scrappers because it's too specific to Superman. I'd prefer something much more generic like something from a Blast set.

Also, a glowing-hand free Hasten animation would be nice.

  8. On my old scratch built comp I had a weird problem with my nVidia card: whenever I logged in to CoH my default desktop screen resolution would be changed to something weird so my monitor was virtually unreadable if I tabbed out of CoH. I just got a new computer with a Radeon 5750 and the same thing happens. My monitor is set to the default rez, I log in and CoH changes the resolution to something undesirable. If I try to manually change the in-game resolution to my default (e.g. the one that says "desktop" next to it) my game slows to a slideshow. Any ideas? It's really frustrating to have problems in a one day old computer.
  9. I've been running CoH on a scratch built computer for the last four years that my brother built for me. Last year I updated the vid card and about two weeks ago my computer pooped the bed so to speak. I have a friend looking at it now but it looks like it's shot for good and rather than waste anymore time without a comp, I'm looking to buy a new one.

Well, my brother has a relatively new baby and needless to say, he doesn't have time to build a new rig for me so I'm looking at something simple. I went to Best Buy and there were two computers that looked pretty good in the right price range.

My questions are, given these specs, will both of these computers run Going Rogue in Ultra Mode at MORE THAN the minimum specs? I'm not as knowledgeable about computers as I should be, so is there anything I'm overlooking that would prevent me from having a top notch GR experience? I've had an nVidia GeForce card of some variety since I started playing. Are the ATI Radeon cards as good? Better?

Computer 1: (ASUS AMD Phenom II X6 Processor 1035T)

    -Windows 7 Home Premium
    -8GB DDR3 Memory
    -1TB Hard Drive
-ATI Radeon 5750 Graphics with 1GB Dedicated Memory

Computer 2: (HP AMD Phenom II Quad-Core Processor 945)

    -Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
    -8GB DDR3 Memory
    -1TB Hard Drive
-ATI Radeon HD 5450 Series Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Dedicated Graphics Memory

Thanks in advance for any input!
  10. Has anyone made a list of the custom color combinations that most closely resemble the default colors? I'm interested in changing the red villainous electricity on my brute to the heroic blue/purple and I'm OCD enough to want it to match exactly.
  11. The Premise: I'm obsessed with Elec Powers in all of their forms. I have an Elec/Elec Blaster, Tank, Brute, and Stalker all at the cap with a Scrapper currently at 47. With IOs I've got Perma-Hasten for my Blaster and ridiculous amounts of Regen/Recovery with my Tank and I want to go a different way with my Scrapper. I think I've made up my mind that I want to go for Soft-Capped Defense of some variety to compliment the decently high Resistances and good Regen provided by Energize. I already know of the pitfalls of building for Defense with no -Def Resistance, but I have a lot of resources and I think I want to do it despite the drawbacks.

    The questions:

    1) Has anyone built a different Resist-based toon for Defense? How did it work out?

    2) What would be better to build for: Smashing/Lethal or Melee Positional? I'm leaning towards Melee, but there's another Elec/Elec on my server that's soft-capped for S/L and says he likes it. Assume that influence is no issue.

Thanks in advance for any help or insight that you can give me.

It plays great! My friend and I both rolled Elec/Elec tanks at the same time and when we got close to 50 I shared my idea of a Regen-centric build with him. He built his the same way but tweaked it a little bit. Another mutual friend of ours saw us in action one time and rolled his own Elec/Elec tank that same day because he was so impressed. It's probably my most well balanced and capable toon and I really love to play it too.

Also, it's higher recovery via more energize end discount, and more use of power sink. All while improving your attacks further.

Though I can get onboard with the idea of a speciality build, this one seems like it could have gone a different direction.
I had briefly considered doing a +Recharge build but decided against it for a few reasons:

    1) It's hard for me to rationalize a recharge build that doesn't include purples and I didn't have the inf or inclination to do another purple build.

    2) While more recharge would mean Energize would be up more, I feel it would also give the character a more binary nature. With this build I feel like I'm awesome all the time instead of average when Energize is down and awesome when it's on.

    3) One of my secondary goals was to increase HP which is easy to do since most HP bonuses are early in sets. Between set bonuses and accolades I'm at about +850 HP which helps with regen also. Building for recharge wouldve hurt that since most recharge bonuses come so late.

That's my two cents at least. I am curious how the regen of a recharge build would compare to that of regen build. Can anyone more skilled with math than I crunch the numbers?
  14. Any idea why my BB Code is showing up instead of just formatting it in the right color? I've exported builds before, but never had a problem until just now.
  15. I've become obsessed with all things electrical in the game. I rolled an Elec/Elec Blaster first and fell in love and followed up with a Elec/Elec Brute and Stalker. When the ported Elec over for Tanks in i16 I dove right in and came up with this build. It wasn't THAT expensive and doesn't involve any purples at all. I'd say that 95% of the build was paid for by this toon's earnings and merits (without donations from my other toons, in other words). I haven't seen (m)any other builds that focus on Regen and Recovery so I figured I'd post it in case anyone was looking for a starting point. One of my friends rolled an Elec/Elec Tank using this build as a starting point and both toons are an absolute blast to play and nearly unstoppable. Let me know what you think.

  16. I very close to hitting 50 with my new Elec/Elec tank and I've managed to accrue about 450-500 Reward Merits. I'm looking to buy a few Eradication rares that are 200 merits but sell for about 50 million. What's my best bet:

    Buy the Eradications with Merits?

    -or-

Buy a whole bunch (25?) of random Rare rolls and hope to make enough money to buy what I need?

    Thanks in advance.

Just to be sure, the sad excuse for a 500W PSU was the one I already have?

I ended up upgrading my PSU to a 550W PSU with a single +12V rail that has a current rating of 41A. I have no idea what any of that means, but I was told from numerous sources that it should be good. You seem to know what you're talking about FatherXmas. Any insight? (I checked all the return policies before I ordered )

Not impossible, only NEARLY impossible I think.

120 second duration with 30 second up-time mean you need +300% recharge to make it perma (if I'm doing my math right...if not, ignore the rest of this post.)

~100% comes from Recharge slotting assuming it's enhanceable.
    20% comes from Lightning Reflexes
    70% comes from Hasten

Which leaves 110% to IOs. I have 112.5% on my Elec Blaster so that number, while intimidating, is doable.

Hopefully it's hard enough to make it perma that the devs won't change the recharge time before it goes live. Chromium Man VI and VII here I come!
  19. Thanks to all of your advice, I've made up my mind and made my purchase.

I bought the PSU that Miuramir suggested, the video card that I wanted and 2 gigs of RAM. I had planned on using TigerDirect, but couldn't find that same PSU there, so bought from NewEgg and saved 20 dollars on the graphics card and 6 dollars altogether on the memory. The upgrade was cheaper than I anticipated (before I started researching I thought video cards cost hundreds of dollars).

Plus, the graphics card came with a free MMORPG from the competition so now I can finally quit COH! (Just kidding )
  20. This is, word for word, what's on the label:

    AC Input(50/60 gHz): 100V- 240V /7A

    DC Output: +5V-/22A, +12V1-/14A
    +3.3V-/27A, +12V2-/13A
    -12V-/0.8A, +5VSB-/3A

    +5V & +3.3V shall NOT exceed 193 W.
    +5V & +3.3 V & +12V1 & +12V2 shall NOT exceed 375 W.
  21. Here is my power supply:

    http://www.directron.com/aps500.html

I couldn't find anything about the amperage rating, but I know we purposely bought a bigger power supply than we initially needed with upgrades in mind.

Thanks for all the replies so far. You've all been a big help. I really should spend some time becoming more knowledgeable about this stuff.
  22. I have a 500 W power supply which I've been told should be able to handle it. My brother built my computer a few years ago with the CoH specs in mind. Of course, at the time CoH was already three years old and we forgot to take that into account when meeting the recommended specs, hence the relatively low-end video card.

Catharctic, can you confirm that 500 W will be enough power?
  23. I'm in the process of upgrading a few things on my computer. Mostly just more RAM and a new video card. I'm currently running a GeForce 6600 and I'm planning on upgrading to this card:

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...3&sku=P56-9818

The problem is, I'm not very knowledgeable about video cards or computers in general. Does anyone have any experience with this card that can tell me any pros and cons before I finalize the order?

    Thanks in advance
  24. I agree with you on most of your points, Vanden, especially with regards to electric buff/control. My main is an Elec^3 blaster and I've made other iterations of the same toon (a stalker and brute, both Elec/Elec Mu). I know I can't be the only one that feels the same about a certain type of power and I'm all for expanding our options.

I'll even go one further and say that after two rounds of Primary/Secondary proliferation, it might be time for an Ancillary/Patron proliferation. Villains have been clamoring for new PPPs for a long time and hero's deserve things like Radiation Mastery for Defenders and a Fire/Dark for Scrappers/Tankers, respectively, to name a few.
  25. Chromium_Man

    Elec/Elec/Elec

This is my current build with my main/favorite toon. My goal was perma-hasten without too many sacrifices to the character concept. I only recently got the Blessing of the Zephyr KB protection so I'm considering swapping the Steadfast out of Charged Armor in favor of the Aegis Mez Resistance IO. Enjoy.
