  1. I need to make myself a stack of those iron-on badges. Ones that say "I felt 'meh' about the Architect"

    My current "meh" topics are:

    - Anything to do with SG's (Except Cathedral of Pain)
    - Proliferation that doesn't incorporate any actual changes (Stuff like Mental Manipulation and Earth Assault = good; Assault Rifle for defenders is "whatever")
    - Level 40+ TF's
    - Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols

And the more wild conjectures that I don't care about:
    - Powerset Respecs (who needs them?)
    - More Travel Powers

Man, this stuff is harder than it looks. I'm at least mildly interested in most things I hear about. But I don't care about MM's, and I don't care about yet another generic weapon set unless they make it like super-cool and stuff.

I really like the idea of craftable inspirations! Because I LOVE inspirations! And Crafting (in this game)!

And, while the devs probably don't want the game getting any easier, would these make it easier? Probably not.
Stocking up on them would be great for when you're in a TF and don't want to run back to the vendor/SG bin to grab more after you blow like ten inspirations on every tough fight- they would only really make Looong fights easier, cause after your first set of inspirations run out, you still have more (cause you used up less insp slots at the start of the fight, you know?). Having these along would help, but not in a super-significant way. More of a time-saver than a power-increaser.

Only being allowed to have, say, 15-35% of your try full of these maximum would be totally fine and balanced. they'd still be good ( or possibly still "Too Awesome To Use", which I already feel about Large insps :P )

With i16's new difficulty settings, these could come in pretty darned handy.
Their names could be something like...

    Offensive Burst (Sm. R/Y)
    Lethal Surge (Med. R/Y)
    Fortune's Armor (Sm. O/P)
    Divine Protection (Med. O/P)
    Sudden Vitality (Sm. G/B)
    Vigorous Rejuvenation (Med. G/B)

To obtain them, I'd say something like...
REPLACE-DROPS: These have a small chance to replace an inspiration drop you would have gotten, but they are one size smaller than the drop you'd have gotten instead.
Ex- You were about to get a Medium inspiration, but you won the 15% chance, giving you a random dual-aspect Small inspiration instead.

OR DIFFICULTY-DROPS: They could only drop from foes at specific relative levels to you (though this opens up the whole bridging can of worms again).
They'd perhaps drop from +3 or higher LT's, +2 or higher Bosses, and +1 or higher EB/AV/Heroes.

They wouldn't drop in AE- after all, the uber-leet epic lootz enhancements don't drop there, so perhaps, neither will the uber-leet inspirations.

COMBINING: If the devs were to use the combining system for these, it could require something like 3 inspirations of each aspect to combine into one dual-aspect inspiration. And maybe they'd even size-down like with drops? I dunno.
So 3 Reds and 3 Yellows total could combine to make 1 Red/Yellow.
There'd probably have to be a limit on how many you can carry if you can combine to make them, because filling up your insp tray with super-win enhancements that can come from ANY contact seems a little cheezy.

BUFF-ALL: Inspirations that gave you every single buff would be pretty freaking strong.
(Combining) I'd say you need 3 of each of the three dual-aspect to combine into an all-in-one insp.
    Or if they dropped...
(Replace-Drops) They'd show up as 1 or 2 of every hundred medium- or large- insp pool drops, as opposed to the 15/100ish of dual-aspects.
(Difficulty-Drops) They'd only start showing up at like an additional +1 level. Yeouch.

I like inspirations. And game designing. Excuse me while I finish drafting out this proposal with more details. :3

  4. I'd almost go for an NCsoft pass. Almost. I play City of Heroes as my main, and my current alt is Guild Wars (totally gonna get GW2 though. Finish it already!), which has no monthly fee. I enjoy Dungeon Runners once in a while and I'm on the fence about whether or not I'd go for a long subscription to Aion.

But that's not quite enough interest in everything for me to get a 30/mo pass.
Now, if Warhammer Online was included in the NCSoft pass I'd probably be sold, cause I was paying for both that and CoH for a while.

Well, first of all, it seems really hard to get into the red. I see a lot of multi-green posters, but I've seen maybe a single person with two red dots. I'm curious.

    Secondly, I like being confusing.

Thirdly, I'm curious as to how people react to a straight-up demand of "give me negative rep" cause it's like... will it be like reverse psychology? Will people disregard and give rep as expected? Will I be percieved differently with different rep levels?(unlikely!) It's interesting!

My biggest gripe is that, if navigating by the standard index, you have to go through a link to get to a subforum group to follow a link to get to a subforum. Superfluous, unnecessary extra step there.

Can we get the option to view all the subforums grouped straight on the index?
Or hell, not even the option, just make it work like that.
I know these boards can do it. Do it!

I see absolutely zero point in having to follow the menu to a submenu of subforums before actually going where you want to go. I especially hate it when the internet is acting up- I already have to drag myself through hell to view each thread, do I have to do it again for each subsection of subforums?

Which reminds me of a feature that I don't think is supported on these that I would still like to dreamily wish for- View Entire Thread.
  10. Well, the rep dealie is definitely based on the rep-giver's own reputation.

I got one disreputation for, and I quote, "You kicked a puppy. I saw it." (it's true. I don't really like puppies. I would not be against punting one if it was in my way and was smelly and annoying, like many dogs are)
And one from someone who speaks in lowercase and was testing disreputation.

And one person gave me rep on my post in the DnD stories thread which completely blew away the other two reputizes and now I'm stuck in the green. So much for my plan to have low rep to be special and different.
  11. I haven't actually logged in at all this weekend. Not even to laugh at the market.

Double XP weekends are just plain less fun for me, and I play for fun.

I mean, it's kind of annoying that I'm still not able to make Spiders/Widows, but I'll just have to suck it up till I feel like making a team with my Mind/Fire dom some more.
  12. SO awesome, as always.

And yet, for some reason, these two cracked me up the most:

I've always wanted to mention something like that, but commenting on people's avatars weirds me out. It's why I haven't commented on that other guy's TWEWY avatar either.

My first playthrough was pseudo-pacifistic cause.. I'm a pansy. I don't like killing. Pseudo-pacifism gets you pretty much the exact same storyline. There are like one or two minor differences.
My SECOND run though, that was pure 100% non-lethal goodness.
I find it ironic that I had to max out both weaponry skills to do a perfect pacifism run. :3

I haven't actually tried doing a run where I just blast the crap out of people. See Fig 1: I'm a pansy.

That reminds me of this incredibly obscure comic I read once.

While I'm in the idea of comics... I'm going to link you wonderful forumites to a few of the comics I follow. Don't worry, I'm only linking a few of the best favoritest ones.

Nobody Scores! - The only webcomic in its whole genre that I actually like, though I can't remember what its specific genre is called. Purely episodic and yet.. the characters are not exactly static, either. Happy, easy-to-look-at art (I.E. you can tell what's going on in any panel. Quite a feat for all the what the [censored] [censored] there is!), and a warning that there be swear words, oh nooooo! Don't read at work, cause it's a freaking comic. It's kind of obvious that you're not doing any work.

The Adventures of Dr. McNinja - Absurd. Oh so very very absurd. And the best thing about the absurdity is how.. taken for granted it is, really.
"What? Ninjas don't have super strength!" You're nodding- yes, yes, that's true.
"He's a doctor too!" yes, yes, tha-WAIT WHAT.
Top-quality brilliant humor. Also, this comic is popular enough that you've probably actually read it. Don't read at work, cause seriously there's no way you can convince your boss this is work.

Gunnerkrigg Court - One of my few SRS comics. Well, it's actually quite funny, but overall I'd rate it as a serious story comic written by someone that knows occasional quips of hilarious humor are really a requirement for an audience to properly experience the SRS parts. Shakespeare knew that, you know.
Anyway, it's a modernesque setting that is very very deep and intriguing and wonderful, and the story is in proper well-fitted chunks rather than rambling on the same plotline for thousands of pages, which if you've ever seen, is just kinda meh, you know? I felt the art at the beginning was meh, but the current art is quite well done.

Scary Go Round - Charming, funny, british, ka-raaazy... all-around great! I'm starting to run low words now, so I don't have much else to say. Give it a go! Lots of different storylines throughout it, so if you don't like one character, you won't have to deal with them throughout the whole comic! *mumblegrumblestupidfishman*

I'd end this SHORT sampling of my list of followed comics with a mention of my own creation... but it's not finished or hosted yet, and nobody is even supposed to know it exists right now.

Anyway, look these up! Reading every page of all four of them might even take you 72 hours!
  21. What *I* want is to be able to switch the attachment point of my wings from Shoulder to Hip.

See, I was letting my mind wander all over, and I realized that humanoid wings, from a balance and physics and ease of use point of view, should sprout from the hip. I don't really want to go into it right now, but think about it- they so should!

  22. Chompie

    Weakest Combo?

Going solo? How about an Emp/Archery or Emp/Electric defender.
On teams (and even solo in several situations), try a Dark/Energy Tanker. Maybe Dark/Mace, but giving you a second AoE attack at 38 would just be too easy, wouldn't it?

Dark/Energy: Energy is known for being very slow. Good at single-target damage, but still slow and endurance-eatin. Dark Armor eats endurance like no other, and is approximately "meh" as far as protection goes. And your self heal costs 33 endurance. If you want any AoE in this build for soloing, you need to suck up Death Shroud's and Whirling Hands' end costs as well. But without that expensive AoE, you will never finish a solo fight.

Take that Dark/Energy tanker on a team, too! You take half damage from attacks! And if you've got Combat Jumping, you might have broken the magical 10% defense mark! Sweeet.

Sure, the character is usable, but... yeah, not too dazzling. Give it a shot.

So I really enjoy City of Heroes, and I've gone back and forth between being a subscriber and not playing it, but I always have this dilemma. I can never stick with a character. I don't know what it is, but I just can't. I know it's possible, I just need some help. So, if I list my playstyle below, could you help me out? If you could suggest something that fits it and actually describe it, that would be so awesome!

    1. I like being valuable to a team, but not to the point where I can't even solo.
    2. I'm fine with any type of combat really, ranged or melee.
    3. I like having a little strategy involved in my character. If it's always going to be the some button combination over and over, that's no fun.
    4. Having a Plan B is always nice. If something goes wrong, I don't want to be repeatedly screaming "I'm screwed! I'm screwed! I'm screwed!!"

If there's anything else you need to know in order to help, just ask the question and I'll respond ASAP

    Thanks for all answers!

    (Quick-Reply!)

I'd say that you should try.. a Sonic/Electric Blaster.

    1. Sonic Blast is incredibly valuable to any team- Resistance Reduction is one of the most noticeable stackable debuffs in the game, so you'll be a huge asset to any team. And you're a blaster, so soloing is still fun as well.
    2. Sonic is sort of a mid-range attack set- works best from about 20-40 distance away. Electric Manipulation has lots of high-powered melee death in it, plus good utility too. This lets you play both range and melee, which leads to...
    3. The same button combo over and over won't work. To live the most and kill the quickest, you've got to adapt your strategy on the fly. Enemies far apart? Fire a few ranged attacks to soften them up and then rush in to joust off a few brutal melee hits, finish them off with an AoE when your defiance is up! The wonderful thing about blasters is that they require a lot of quick thinking to succeed- making sure you get the most out of your inherent while trying to stay alive through maneuvering rather than toggles.. it's very intense!
    4. Sonic Blast and Electric Manipulation both have a couple Plan B buttons. Siren's Song can save your [censored] when things get out of hand, Screech can disable a pesky LT (and debuff him and give you a good defiance boost!) for long enough to erase him from the fight, Thunder Clap can give you a much-needed moment of respite in the middle of the fray.. there are plenty of different Oh Crap Buttons in those sets - pick and choose whichever you like best!

    Give it a shot!
