Wanted to post a link to my Ouroboros crash thread here.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=253833
Upon crashing, the screen becomes a solid color for 30-60 seconds, before the task bar pops up an error saying "The graphics driver has recovered from a serious problem." (I tried to click on it for further information, which I intended to post here, but that only causes the message to disappear.)
I only see this error when accessing multiple Ouroboros story arcs.
I'm on Win 7-64, with an ATI 5700 graphics card using the most current (11.3 at time of this posting) drivers. -
Just wanted to update this thread and say that I'm now on the 11.3 (3/29/2011) drivers, and that the crash now happens on the third Ouroboros contact I click on, rather than the second.
Whereas the first arc I clicked's contact used to appear distorted, with random pixels across the photo, I now see that on the second arc I click, with the aforementioned crash now happening on the third. -
Man... why did I have to put ALL my characters on Victory?
I'd be okay if I were just temporarily locked out of my main, but dammit, I wanna play some CoH this weekend!!! -
Do you guys REALLY think you crashed it? Cuz a) that's hilarous, and b) that's scary as hell...

The server is indeed down right now. (Blame Elegost and Desmodos.) -
Quote:... You realize that the i20 beta was open to everyone at least one night a week for the last month, right?Well, you will not be able to log on tonight. We are experiencing yet another unsceduled Server Shut-Down. During Prime time on a Friday Night no less. Way to go Devs!!!!! You guys keep sticking to your favorite few Beta Testers, and hope for the best. We can all see the results clearly.

In all likelihood, it's Antimatter, who is only available in the 40-45 mission arcs rather than the 45-50 ones.

I've done absolutely nothing and I can use YouTube again on both my home and work computers. I'm guessing there was a small error on their end, or some pipeline problem in between their server and the local ISPs or something.
-
I'm having the same issue on multiple computers, and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash from Adobe's website. I think it's an issue with YouTube's site, as I've actually been able to view YouTube clips that were embedded on other sites.

Quote:A potent AoE mez power? (I know Cryonic Judgement and I think Ionic Judgement can have Hold added to them as they go up in the tiers.)What else is there? With the "easy" ideas taken, what could the remaining 5 existing Incarnate slots hold?
A team heal/rez power?
A self buff (armor) power? (I'd really love some damage resistance on my SR Scrapper...)
Maybe a power that fills your inspiration tray, or allows you to convert tier 3 insps into Incarnate inspirations?
I'm just grasping beyond that. -
Quote:You're confusing addative buffs with pre-calculated damage potential.Hold on. I think even beyond the 400-500% thing his math is off. 100% enhancement does not mean 100 damage, it means 200 damage. 200% would mean 300 damage. 300% would mean 400 damage, etc.
So 400% = 400 damage is not correct.
As a Scrapper, you start with 100% damage, because it can be debuffed by enemy abilities (or even friendly powers such as Radiation Emission's Mutation rez). 100% is your unenhanced, unbuffed damage... so, the example that has been used is to say that you have an attack that does 100 damage. You can have an additional +400% maximum damage buff applied (total damage cap is 500%).
So having 400% damage = 400 damage output (on a base 100 damage attack), but +400% = 500 damage output... which is also the cap for a Scrapper.
In your own examples above, a "100% enhancement" should be displayed as "+100%."
Edit: ... Yeah. What Aett and Jade said. -_-; -
If you get genericked, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to contact the GMs to choose an alternate available name for the character.
If you don't get genericked, then don't worry about it. -
So... what do we do when we've sent an email to NCSoft Support with all of the information above (or at least all that we've got available) and they don't reply for two full days...?

Just got Already Dead and Master of Apex's Task Force, which bumped me to 1201.

Quote:They just DID a graphical revamp in May 2010--Ultra Mode.Way back when EQ did their graphical revamp it was a pretty big deal, but I don't see why they couldn't do something like that. The character models in DCUO are unbeliavably nice and I would love to see that level of detail in CoX.
The problem with upgrading the character models is that there are actually a startling number of people who don't want to see the player models upgraded, either because they are still running on older machines or because they just like the style.
Back around Going Rogue's launch, David Nakayama (the art lead) asked what people thought about replacing some of the old costume piece textures with newer hi-res ones. Public outcry demanded that nothing be removed, and that they keep all legacy costume pieces as they are, but add in the hi-res textures as an alternative option... even though it was noted that this decision would take far longer to implement.
Anyway, it's a matter of taste. I don't find the character models in brand-new-competitor to be particularly appealing, but they're at least better than those in couple-year-old competitor (which were of course inferior to CoH models in all ways but total polycount). -
I haven't written anything new in well over a year. The last arc I was working on was an arc about the Praetorians stealing Castle's spreadsheet and attempting to use it to nerf the heroes of Primal Earth.
About 6 days into the project, Going Rogue was announced.
I scrapped it and haven't touched the authoring tools since. -
Quote:My main characters are effectively the same person copied through [plot device* goes here]. Even the "evil" one isn't truly evil, but is very self-serving and just really hates the "good" one.To use myself as an example my main badger Loth was always RP'd as a "reformed villain" as far back as 2004 so it was easy in my mind to justify her slipping back into her former evil ways to get redside badges. My second badger Ryver was always played as the "Good Girl" hero so for her I just assumed she got turned villainous against her will via some kind of evil mind control or some-such. I even redid some of her normally tidy costumes making them rough/torn to reflect the times when she's "temporarily chaotic/insane" on the redside.
Whatever works.
I justified their switching sides as the "evil" one capturing the "good" one and forcibly switching their minds, then running off to the Rogue Isles to do bad things where everyone could see and ruin his good name. The "good" one, now in the "evil" one's body, quickly broke free and established what was going on before any real harm could be done... but they're currently stuck in each other's bodies until [another plot device happens (aka, "when I get all the badges")].
*Technically, "a wizard did it" applies here. -

Alpha, Judgement, Lore, Destiny and Interface are all visible on this build
Conversion from Shards to Threads is available, but the rates are awful (I was able to convert 100 shards to get 20 or 30 (I forget right now) Threads - enough for one component)
I have screenies, but more once I finish testing (just had a CTD hence this quick post)

Also, to the peeps wondering where the upcoming Incarnate Slot info is: didn't they post that almost exclusively on the Going Rogue website for the Alpha Slot in Issue 19?
I expect that's where we'll find the official info is posted in the next few weeks. -
My name is Chad Gulzow-Man, and I approve of this overview.
It's one of my favorite things to have learned about today. I understand your point about "why is it in the overview?" because it really is small potatoes on the list of features, but I am extremely pleased to find this out. -
Quote:I dunno... there was that briefly leaked "recycled pee" inspiration in the i20 teaser...But I have faith in the Devs that whatever this turns out to be it'll lack any of the more extreme Costnerian influences.
I just started reading that. (No spoilers, please.) -
I visited Ouroboros this evening and discovered that I crash (locks up the game, which goes to a completely white screen and must be shut down via Task Manager) on the mission listing when I attempt to open the info for more than one mission. Additionally, the contact pictures for all Ouroboros contacts are distorted and "staticky."
I just updated my ATI Radeon HD 5700 to the 2/15/2011 drivers, and tonight was the first time I've been able to play since the last patch (and it's been weeks since I've attempted to start an arc via Ouroboros)... I'm not sure which of the two are contributing to the problem.
I can start an arc in Ouroboros with no problems, but again, I crash if I check the info for one arc and then try to click on another instead.
Is anyone else having similar issues?
