No, actually, we were told at Comic Con that they plan to gradually introduce things to the game, including Street Justice and Beam Rifle. Von's Ustream thread basically says they intend to put one new addition into the store every week--"Sometimes we'll have something small in the market every week, sometimes they'll be medium like a whole costume set, sometimes it will be big like a powerset." I assume the intention is to keep interest up, which I can say is certainly working for me.

I was being a little facetious when I said I'd be angry if StJ wasn't available on day one, because I'm pretty sure it won't be.
  2. Is the "bug" perhaps that you can't switch your Incarnate abilities rapidly? Is it saying you've been in combat too recently to switch? Is it telling you that you can't switch abilities because your Incarnate powers are still recharging?

If it's one of the above, those are all intentional design limitations on the system, not bugs. (I'm not 100% sure, but I think it counts your teammates' combat actions against the 5 minute cooldown timer as well.)
  3. Definitely making a Street Justice/Willpower or /Energy Aura Scrapper. I played the set a bit at Comic Con, and I'm so hooked.
  4. Alright, throwing my entry into the hat. I used Redlynne's redesign as an inspiration. (She's wearing shorts underneath that skirt, to discourage any peeping toms.)

No kidding. My arc is still broken because I have an NPC named Lieutenant Nelson, with Nelson being blocked. The character is based off of Victory's own EricNelson and his main character, Stained Glass Scarlet.
  6. FYI, I specifically asked Second Measure at Comic Con about Peacebringers (at Grey Pilgrim's request).

He said they're currently in an informal discussion stage, where they realize that they need some love and are weighing their options, but they don't have an opening in the development schedule to get anything done prior to Issue 21's launch. I told him I assumed that Issue 22 was probably locked out as well given the way they're developing 2-3 issues in advance, and he said that wasn't necessarily the case.

So, I'm sorry to report that there won't be anything specific for Kheldians at Issue 21's launch, but there's still the possibility of mid-issue or Issue 22 changes. And you know the producer--the guy who handles the budgeting of resources (including time)--has Kheldian issues on his radar.

That's putting it as well as I ever could.

I've said before on other threads that I'm perfectly happy to pay for a few new powersets a year. Currently, we're averaging new powersets every 4-5 issues--that's completely new sets, not proliferations. The last absolutely free powersets we got were Pain Domination and Shield Defense in i13. The last paid sets we got were with the Going Rogue expansion (i18) a year ago, with an advance on Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning for prepurchasers.

So, if suddenly we're getting 1 free and 3+ purchaseable powersets a year, that's a lot more than we were getting. It's also more options; I rarely play ranged attack ATs, so I might not want to get Beam Rifle*... but I DO play melee ATs, and I want the bejeezus out of Street Justice.
*I do, in fact, want Beam Rifle... just not as much as I want Street Justice!

Regardless, you're getting Time Manipulation included in your subscription; you don't have to pay a penny beyond your regular $15/mo subscription fee or spend any of your monthly subscription bonus points on it.

There will be other new powers automatically included with subscription coming out in the future, at a faster rate than we've seen in the past--I would bet that the post 21 Dominator powerset(s) will be included in your subscription cost. But there will also be more purchaseable powersets (such as Titan Weapons) coming out too, the profits from which will help to fund the free ones.

You'll get more than you've ever gotten in the past included with your subscription in CoH Freedom, but you're not getting everything for it.

You will continue to get Paragon Reward Tokens included in your subscription. Only, you'll now get them every month instead of every three months.

You also have the OPTION--not requirement--to buy $15 worth of points and be automatically granted a Paragon Reward Token. This means you can now buy your way to a Tier 9 reward status if you feel so inclined.

You also don't have to buy them in $15 increments; you can buy $5 (the minimum) three different times (with no time limit) and still get the bonus token.

As to it not being clear, what are you confused about? If you don't post your questions, they won't get answered.

  11. The changes for Street Justice between Stalker and Scrapper/Tanker/Brute versions:

Instead of Assassin's Strike (which looks a bit weird to me, personally... like a dude flexing his muscles for a bit before swinging with a hook. Should look more like FALCON PUUUUNCH! imo), you get a quick knee to the ribs power. Can't remember what it's called... I think Vital Strike or Blow or something? I think it debuffs the enemy for a short time as well.

Build Up is called something else (Combat Awareness or Readiness or something that ends in "ness") and automatically gives you 3 combo points, so you can immediately open with one of the finishers instead of breaking up your attack chain for it. The Stalker version is just regular Build Up, but AS gives you multiple combo points when it lands (giving it a reason to be put it in a regular attack chain, even).

    Placate is Confront, of course.

The tier 1, 2, 8 and the knee in the ribs power (t6?) all give one combo point to a max of 3 (or at least that's the highest I could build). The tier 3, tier 9 and maybe the tier 7 (which looks like an AoE from Ele's screenshot... I never got above level 3 while testing it) are all "finishers," which drop your combo points back to zero but add additional side effects and/or damage.

It's my new favorite powerset in the game. It's just fun as hell to play.

... I'm gonna be so pissed if it's not in the store the day i21/CoHF launches.

I feel the same... It'll probably be part of a mid-issue release, the way they did Issue 19.5 (tiers 3&4 of Alpha, Weekly Strike Targets) and Issue 20.5 (new Lore pets, Keyes trial, QoL AoE buffs).

And since any progress you make or items you collect on the test server don't matter, the only real reason to go there outside of testing is for cross-server PVP or developer events.

Down with Statesman. I hate "Mary Sue" characters.
Hurray for Synapse, who gives us /Poison Controllers in Issue 21!

I wish I had seen that staff video before it was taken down. All the reaction I have heard makes me jealous. If it's anything like I have seen of Street Justice so far, it'll be great!
The video was super schmexy, but it looked "finished." Since nobody outright denied that there was going to be a Staff set forthcoming--in fact, Second Measure specifically said that "they're working on lots of things for future releases"--I'm operating on the assumption that there really is such a powerset in the works, but that video was a clever mock-up by a devoted fan (or a troll with too much time on his hands).

Anyway, best not to discuss it any further at this time, lest this thread get deleted like the others talking about the video.

According to the Freedom Friday Facebook thing a couple weeks ago, Free players will be able to join people on AE missions, but won't get any rewards (including XP) for it.

But then I noticed in the Comic Con build that there was something called an "Architect License" that would grant you access to the architect for (I think) 30 days for like a dollar or a buck-fifty. I didn't really pay attention to the pricing on things, because they kept telling us that none of the prices were final any time they caught someone looking at the store.

It just said "Grants access to the Mission Architect" and didn't say anything about rewards (that I can recall). So maybe Free players really won't have access to AE at all?

And for Pete's sake, could someone please grab some numbers for time manipulation?! Selfish is me, but I think this is really all I care about.
I realized this morning that I was a bonehead for not scribbling down any numbers.

Then I realized as I was typing this that it doesn't matter, because this stuff is all still in beta, and numbers can fluxuate wildly in beta. Until it gets to open beta, it doesn't really matter what the numbers are.

I do apologize for paying exactly zero attention to Time Manipulation while I was there, though. I couldn't take my eyes off of Street Justice--it's the powerset I always wanted, but didn't know I wanted it.

    This can't be emphasized enough.

CoH Freedom isn't some random branch off where the developers are changing their priorities and moving towards a different direction. The path isn't changing its destination... it's just having a few more lanes opened so traffic can flow better.

There is. Black Pebble (I think) told me. I mentioned it in an earlier post:

A PUG probably won't listen well enough to get it done, but a focused team really shouldn't have any problem whatsoever with this.

Harr. She's actually pretty handy--her summoned demons keep the enemy aggro off of her (and the squishies) and she actually sticks with the group instead of running off and being an idiot.

Another interesting thing is that a little "Desdemona face" icon appears over whomever she's following, so you always know at a glance who she's on.
  20. Alright, just got home and am going to pass the **** out in a moment.

I asked Second Measure about Kheldian changes for you, GP. He said they've been having informal discussions about what to do to bring Peacebringers up to par with Warshades, but nothing official is planned yet. They'd like to make changes, but they won't be in Issue 21; however, it's possible they may do so in Issue 22 or maybe even a mid-issue release. (He also mentioned that your posts on the subject are one of the main reasons Khelds are being looked at at all. )

I also asked about the video of the "Staff Fighting" powerset that was "leaked" from the beta. They knew of the existence of the video prior to it being posted on the forums. It was not a "viral marketting" thing, as has been speculated. I asked Z if it was legit, and he shrugged and said, "Who knows?" I asked Second Measure, who replied, "We're working on lots of different things for future issues." Tunnel Rat said that the preview we saw at Comic Con was pretty close to the full feature list of Issue 21, and Staff Fighting certainly was not in it.

  23. This is what I do for my SR toggles:

    Code:
    /bind g "powexec_toggleon Evasion$$powexec_toggleon Focused Senses$$powexec_toggleon Focused Fighting"

    /bind shift+c "powexec_toggleoff Evasion$$powexec_toggleoff Focused Senses$$powexec_toggleoff Focused Fighting
Then I just mash the G key three times and everything turns on. There is, unfortunately, no way to have one key press activate more than one power, though you can have one keypress DE-ACTIVATE as many toggles as you like.

I recommend you do the following:

    /bind KEY "powexec_toggleon Ninja Run$$powexec_toggleon Sprint"
    /bind shift+KEY "powexec_toggleoff Ninja Run$$powexec_toggleoff Sprint"

Press your chosen key twice to turn them both on, then hold shift and press it again to turn them both off.

((When using a chaining bind like this, remember that they activate from the right-most command and work their way left.))

I THINK this is the case--I think you can buy an item through the store, apply it to one of your IOs, and it will level up at the same rate as you up to a max of 50. It wasn't terribly clear from what they said during the presentation. (I'm also not sure what would happen if an IO traditionally caps at, say, level 40, and you apply a level booster to it.)

I DO know that IOs in general will not level up with you. They're either special IOs to start with, or you use something that makes them special.

I asked Adison, one of the new environment artists, since I was standing next to her at the play test. She wasn't quite sure, but she thought it was a 12-24 trial.

We actually ran with 11 in "super sekrit dev cheat mode," hence the skipping of the first 2 of the 3 parts to the trial; we had enough debuff, damage and tanking to take out the Avatar of Hami at the end, too, but did not satisfy all the requirements to successfully complete the trial.

I will ask about if there are anything planned towards Kheldian rebalancing for you--I agree that Warshades are far more attractive than Peacebringers, and would love to see that gap bridged. (It might actually get me to drag my level 14 PB out for more than just earning event/anniversary badges. )

I've got something about a potential beta leak I saw that I want to ask about, too... but of course, if it turns out to be true, I probably won't be able to say anything, so I'm not mentioning what that it is right now.
