I believe it was mentioned at the Pummit that this may happen, though that may just be a rumor--I wasn't there to hear for myself. They're still trying to figure out exactly how to make it available once it gets pulled from the T9 VIP listing, though.

Not gonna happen. You're getting 400/550 PP every month as a "coupon" or "gift card" already. That's your discount.

Things that I think they should add to the market:
    1) Reasonable pricing for consumables. If they want to sell 2 minute-use inspirations, they should make them poppable like candy and similarly priced.
    2) Reasonable pricing for storage. Yes, I paid $20 for an extra enhancement tray; no, I do no think that's a fair price, even as an account-wide unlock.
    3) The friggin' Martial Arts costume bundle. Every other pre-Freedom booster is already in the store.
    4) A better UI, that tells you what you've already purchased, gives better detail on items (e.g., the store never showed that the recent Mako's Bite/Pulverizing Fisticuffs/Touch of Death enhancements were going to be removed--you had to read the forums for that info, and as such, I missed it), etc.

Any of the three ATs paired with Willpower will be plenty survivable, though.

I like how all your examples are competitive ones. How many people do you actually think are buying IOs from the Paragon Market for competitive reasons?

Yes, picking up an attuned set of Luck of the Gambler is going to make me rock faces at PVP... 9_9

Joe Lazy Guy with a 20 dollar bill can get 'em without any effort required!"
And so can you. I don't see what's supposed to be so unfair about this.

Look at it from the alternative standpoint: because YOU can afford to spend that much time in the game, you have TWO ways to get these enhancements this weekend, while they still only have the one (paying cash for them).

I hope that if that is indeed the case and they're giving females the same options that males get, then they're going to give something ELSE to males to make up for the fact that females get more costume options.

Of course, if they DO give the bartender costume pieces that have been joked about in the feedback thread to males, then girls are just going to complain that they don't get THOSE TOO.
  7. Global server was probably unavailable for a few minutes. It happens from time to time. I wasn't around to check for myself, though, so I can't be 100% sure.

I re-read the announcement post from the week these were released, and they WERE in fact limited-availability items. However, they were not marked as such in game--they were listed as being on a sale that ended at the same time they were scheduled to be pulled.

I'm going to create a hodge-podge sheet that shows all the items that were pulled from the store until I get some more feedback on how people want it presented. At least the information will be there.

EDIT: Also, I updated the icon for the German Shepherd pet tonight, as one was added to the store at some point between Tuesday morning and this evening.
  9. The TV probably doesn't support the resolution you were running the game at last. You can try running the game in safe mode (from NCSoft Launcher. right click on City of Heroes, select properties, click the "Run in Safe Mode" checkbox), then reselect your settings and restart the game.

You can also try forcing the application to run at new resolution by adding "-screen X Y" to the Extra Command Line Parameters bar on the properties screen, where X and Y are a resolution that your TV supports. My 19" monitor would use the following example: "-screen 1280 1024"

Keep in mind that if your new monitor is running at a higher resolution than the old one, your graphics card will need to work harder to render the screen. You may notice a loss of performance.

Wow. I do not know how I missed that, unless they added it in after the initial announcement. I apologize and promise to "lrn2read" in the future.

The countdown timer, I had assumed was just because their sale price was ending, not that they were being removed from the store.

That said, the individual Touch of Death enhancements are still on the market, though their set bundle is not.

If I recall, when they began to offer these back in September, they said any account that had never previously subscribed should be able to use it. If you'd ever paid for a subscription or had a retail code on that account, though, you would not be able to apply the VIP Starter Kit code.

I strongly disagree that that's the only reason. I still run most of my characters on mostly SOs all the way to 50, and then take my time slotting them out through drops instead of hunting things down on the auction house.

And then, of course, there are the Free/Premium accounts who have zero access to IOs at all, and have no choice but to use TOs/DOs/SOs/HOs.

But you're obviously not wrong, either; I did already note that I specifically bought the one enhancement tray to assist with my latest respec, in which I dumped a lot of LotGs and other expensive IOs in order to frankenslot for better overall character performance.

And on store bought, how does the value work? If I exemplar down does the IO become a level 20 io vale followed by the exemplar penalty? Or will it be a a level 35 io with exemplar penalty? Or will it be a level 20 io no penalty?
Set bonuses do NOT work at any level. They only work at -3 of the level you've got the IOs slotted. If you are using level 50 IOs and exemplar below 47, then you lose those set bonuses.

The IOs you purchase in the market will always be the level of the character that's using them, as long as it's within the level range that that IO works for--you can slot a 20-40 IO any time after 20, but it will NOT go below 20 or above 40 for its enhancement value. If you are currently level 40, but then exemp down to 30, the store-bought IO should enhance as a level 30 IO.

Paragon Wiki has the info for what the enhancement values are at each specific level. For instance here's the entry on LotG's Def/End enhancement:

I did the same (aside: it was nice having a job... sigh), though I did buy one enhancement tray. I don't regret it, as I really needed the extra space to facilitate a respec on one of my characters without having to purchase additional respecs... but I'm absolutely waiting for the rest to go on sale before I purchase any other storage increases.

And by "on sale," I of course mean discounted by 50% or more.

I was really hoping that storage increases would be among the items discounted, but I'm pretty okay with the Black Friday/Cyber Monday showing that they've got.

I was originally going to complain about this being a limited availability item, but then I realized it's the WHOLE BOOSTER PACK, not just the costume options.

Still, I hope that we'll be seeing the Martial Arts costume bundle available in the Paragon Market both soon and permanently.

There's a section for "Limited Availability" items, which the Halloween stuff was featured on and which currently only contains the formerly convention-exclusive NPC transformation powers.

Do you and anyone else who wants to chime in think it would be better just to leave that page untouched and continue to show items that are no longer in the store? Should I add a new "Retired" or "Currently Unavailable" page?

    Texture problems

Additionally, this might be a problem with heat build up (yes, even if it happens as soon as you load a game). You might want to pop open the side panel to your computer (if it's a desktop, of course) and make sure that the cooling fan on your card is spinning and not clogged with dust, and if either of those things are an issue, power off the system and try to clean it out with some compressed air or a vacuum cleaner. Then, of course, make sure that you keep the system somewhere that the exhaust and air intake fans aren't right up against a wall or furniture to prevent this occurring in the future. If the fan on the graphics card is broken, you probably need to replace the entire card, which currently looks to cost about $150 on NewEgg.com.

If it's a laptop, then you can still check the fans and intakes for dust and clean them out, but there's not a whole lot else that can be done if you've developed a heating problem. If the cooling fan on the graphics chip/board is broken, then it's probably time to look into getting a new laptop.

I would go a step farther and say that Stalkers should be the single target damage kings, period; their single target base damage should (slightly) outperform that of Scrappers, but their AoE damage should be a little worse than that of Scrappers.

But otherwise, I'm glad you feel this way. It's always seemed like the AT was designed to be a "glass cannon," but while they had the fragility of the glass, they didn't have a reciprocating punch. It's almost ironic that the previous fixes for Stalkers were to patch up their weak defenses instead.

There's no arguing that the AT is in a better place today than it was back at the release of CoV, but the fact that you're doing something about their damage output now is, in my opinion, a huge step in the right direction to getting this AT where they belong.

    Texture problems

What model is your video card? And did you recently change drivers for it?

(As far as not having problems with other 3D applications, CoH is done in OpenGL, whereas most games these days use DirectX.)
  20. Another small update this week. We get the Pilgrim Hat for 40 PP.

The Halloween items have been removed from the store (as indicated by my previous post), and, as such, I deleted them from the spreadsheet this morning.

We also seem to be missing the Pulverizing Fisticuffs and Mako's Bite damage enhancement sets, though Touch of Death remains (albeit without the bundle of all enhancements). Was there some announcement that these were limited-availability items that I somehow missed?

I fundamentally disagree with you on everything. Even if you're right (which I've never seen happen), I still disagree with you, because:

    A) if you do have some sort of knowledge that this is in development (and CoH2 has been rumored since about the time City of Villains launched in 2005), then that means you or the person who told you broke a non-disclosure agreement. Corporations take NDAs pretty seriously, and the fact that this thread still exists means that their lawyers aren't out to destroy you, which means that you're wrong.

    B) you're just so damn smug every time you put your fingers on the keyboard to write a post, and you never have anything that isn't seething with negativity to say about the game or the development team. I'm convinced you are a member of that group you seem to hate--the people who pay their $15/mo just so they can post on the forums and complain and add "lol" to threads. .. which you just did in the previous post.

As such, I'll take your advice and "Ignore what the people who pay $15 per month to post on these forums tell you." Consider it done.
  22. So, did the Melee IOs that were introduced on Nov 8 get pulled from the store? Did I miss the announcement saying that they were going to be pulled or that they were a limited time offer?

They certainly weren't marked as such in the Paragon Market, and they're not there as I'm going through the listing for new/changed items.

(I do like that the Autumn Path Aura was discounted to match the price of other auras, though.)

I'm pretty sure rewards cap at +4. Defeating a +5 or +6 enemy gives you exactly the same reward as a +4 out on the street.

(I'd intended to do something similar to farm for the last inf badge on my Stalker. Turns out running lots of iTrials with their +4 baddies got the job done just fine.)
  24. FYI, I was using 11.4 for most of the year on my 5850 card.

It never caused crashes for me, but I did get occasional corruption of certain textures (for instance, sometimes the letter "w" wouldn't show up in peoples' chat bubbles), and sometimes buildings in the BAF trial weren't rendered. These problems were few and far between though, and mostly encountered on the BAF trial (and only about 1 in 10 times there).

The game was otherwise very playable and performance was comparable to the other good drivers in your listing.

On the other hand, I DO recall reading that users with 6800 series cards had issues with the 11.4 drivers.

(11.9 seems to be the way to go at this point, regardless.)
