Freebie Friday item this week:
1x Revival Temp Power (self rez) -
June 5th?
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Guess I'm taking a break for the next two weeks. -
Quote:Steele misspoke. The repeatable consumables are Tier 9.Wait...we can do that? So, hypothetically, if there were some consumable someplace lower on the tree that I wanted, I could spend my token on that rather than proceeding with filling in my current tier?
The unlockable, cycling costume sets are Tier 9 VIP, the top tier of the tree.
You have to fill all the way up through Tier 8 in order to get any of the Tier 9 or Tier 9 VIP stuff, sorry. There's no repeatable stuff below that. -
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. (That is, the kid-friendly Archie comics publications of them.
)
First "real" comic book I ever picked up was some weirdo Marvel superhero named Sleepwalker, about a transdimensional being who accidentally got himself stuck in a teenage kid's head and could only walk the world while the kid was asleep. He shot eye beams that could warp reality and bring nightmares to life.
Friggin' loved that comic.
These days, I mostly read manga or collections of comics (e.g., trade paperbacks and the like). Collecting individual comic books is too expensive and time-consuming. :/ -
You guys are glancing over the fact that this pending legislation in Japan is due to targeting children, who end up racking up massive amounts of credit card charges in just a few days -- $1500+ over a long weekend. The gear in those packs is traditionally only available through those packs and is often some of the best available.
On the other hand, CoH limits you to a maximum of $400 in transactions per month, and all the performance-enhancing items in the Super Packs are available outside of the packs via direct purchase (XP Boosters, special insps, etc.) or in-game methods (Reward Merits, AT-Specific Enhancements). The only things in the Super Pack that are not available through other methods are purely cosmetic (costume pieces, Black Wolf pet).

Quote:Cryptic hasn't had anything to do with this game for 4 years now. It's Paragon Studios.Cryptic sidestepped that a while back by publishing the percentages.
If you actually paid attention to the article, you'd see that they mention a Cryptic game that did not publish the odds of earning items in their grab bags, which is against the law in some countries.
-----
The short of it is, as long as Paragon continues to post the possible contents of each Super Pack, the odds of receiving each, and offers an alternative way to earn any items that directly enhance powers or gameplay, they're probably not going to run into any trouble whether the "online baseball card pack" is officially labelled as gambling or not. -
I'm assuming you have your own computer with CoH on it, Tubbius. Is that correct? If so, try the following:
1) Start the install process on your girlfriend's computer, then close out of it.
2) Copy the CoH folder from your computer to a USB drive, then dump the contents to the CoH install folder on your girlfriend's laptop. (Remember, the game is over 4GB now, so it's going to take a few minutes to copy.)
3) Go into the install directory on your girlfriend's machine and delete the Checksum file.
4) Try launching the game; it should do a quick (less than 5 minute) sweep to verify the files and then she should be good to go.
That should be the absolute quickest way to get her up and running, if it's an acceptable option for you. Best of luck! -
Quote:It makes sense, though, for better or worse. There's enough market stuff being tested on beta currently to push us through until late July, though most of looks to be additional enhancements. And nearly everything will need a run on beta before being launched in the store, so consider any new market releases on beta from this point to be at least 4-6 weeks out from being released on live. But July/August for the new super packs is NOT what I wanted to hear.
Also, go ahead and prepare yourselves for Retro Sci-Fi being released a few weeks after i23 hits, not with it. (If I'm wrong, you can consider it a nice surprise.) -
It's Tuesday again... that means it's NEW STUFFS DAY!

The individual enhancements are normally priced at 400 Paragon Points apiece, and the set as a whole is available for 2000 Paragon Points. This week's sales:- Soulbound Allegiance Store Bought Enhancements for 50% off (1000PP for the set, or 200PP per)
- Enhancement Unslotters for 40% off

The arc in my sig has been broken for at least a year because I have an NPC named "Lieutenant Nelson" in it.

Quote:Think that's covered by this bit:Also, it will be easier for others to make suggestions about your build if you also include the data chunk. That will allow folks to import your build into their MIDs and view the bonus totals.

Tap the F8 key repeatedly while the system is booting and it'll give you a prompt.
Quote:(p.s.) after hearing the noise with the crash I updated my sound driver..and it still does the same random comp crash/lockup -
Soooo... any word on when this is happening? An actual date, perhaps?
-
You're quoting Nethergoat out of context... the post in question was meant to be sarcastic.
The point of having to log into the market to claim the item is--as has been mentioned several times previously in the thread--to get players who NEVER use the market to open it up and check it out. This allows them to become comfortable with the market's interface and increases the chances that they'll see something else that interests them in the market while they're there, meaning more potential income for Paragon Studios.
If you choose not to claim the free item, they're not going to lose any sleep over it. Especially since it seems you're not one to shy away from the market to begin with. -
No, they never came out and said May (that I saw, anyway), but it was widely speculated that it would go live last Tuesday to compete with the release of Diablo III.
Since they fixed the showstopping trial bug last week, the only real noticeable bug I know about is that the Hybrid slot powers are having some weird effects for Tankers, improperly treating their single target attacks as if they were AoEs (due to their Gauntlet inherent ability).
I'm not sure if that's something they'd hold back the release for, though, or if they plan to just fix it in the next patch. If they released i23 tomorrow and patched it on Thursday, for example, the number of Tankers using problematic Hybrid powers in the first 2 days would be tiny bordering on insignificant in terms of the total population.
... But they've also said they'd give us some more advance warning about the removal of the Celestial gear from the Paragon Rewards Table, which I haven't seen them even mention in about two weeks now...
So until they tell us that, the release isn't imminent. -
Quote:You just made my ignore list with this comment. I have never once heard someone making a solid argument that included calling opponents "sheeple," even if I agreed with their point to begin with.I expect, people not to let companies to lie to them. But I guess there are not many people left, only Sheepeople. Baaaaahhh.
Not that I agree with you in the least. You're nuts. -
Do your leaguemates a favor -- try to get a Tier 3 Alpha slotted before you start running Incarnate Trials, unless you're already built to handle +4 enemies.
You might not necessarily "get in the way" without it, but you'll spend more time on your feet, do more damage and generally support the team better in every way. -
Quote:It runs from 00:00 to 23:59 on Friday in the UK, chief. You know what would really make this idea pop?
Have it happen on Friday.
Whether it will remain that way once the "beta version" is over remains to be seen, but it is nice to see them schedule something with the UK players in mind first and foremost. -
Quote:If it weren't already part of the basic client, that would be awesome. Heck, do it anyway--that would be an absolutely perfect way to slap people in the face for complaining about being slapped in the face when they weren't, in fact, being slapped in the face. The next Freebie Friday should be the /slap emote. Just for the reaction.

Quote:Sign in by 4pm sucks. Some of us have jobs (just a couple.) You should call it Freebie Friday afternoon.Quote:I think this time limit till 4 PDT or whatever that actually means is crap. Some of us arnt getting home from work on a friday night in time to get to it.
If nothing else, just start planning to log in Thursday night for a minute or two before bed to grab the freebie. If you can't or won't be bothered to do that, then you still don't lose anything--you just don't gain a freebie. -
Quote:If that's the case, then I should probably go ahead and say that even though I claimed the dual insp, it will almost certainly never get used. If it does, it'll likely be more due to me trying to clear out clutter from my character items list than out of actual need. And as it's a test pilot program, no one should be surprised an inspiration has shown up for it. They're trying to gauge customer reaction, because the forums sure as heck are not the only dipstick to measure with (though it is the only one that comes off with a thick black oily substance like one). If more people bit for the free XP than they do for the insp then that's a data point they'll use for future marketing strategy (at no cost to the players either way).
I'm not going to complain about getting something for free, but I'll be honest... I found myself thinking that it almost wasn't worth clicking to claim it. -

Just a reminder that FREEBIE FRIDAYS IS BACK THIS WEEK!
The free item is still available for another 21½ hours. -
Quote:One night, several years ago, I left late night Comedy Central on while I was playing CoH. Suddenly, a commercial for a ridiculous Girls Gone Wild ripoff DVD started playing, using the Blyde Square neighborhood music from Steel Canyon.Anyone noticed any other in game sounds like this in movies, tv shows, etc?
After a good laugh about it, I PMed one of the community members (I think probably Avatea) and included a link to the site, which happened to also have the commercial streaming on their front page.
I don't necessarily know that any legal action came of it, but I do know that the site has been gone for a while.
