Quote:The system effectively has to queue up every polygon (be it a building, object, or animated model) within a certain radius of you and then decide whether or not it should display those polygons based on the camera position.I just assumed for myself that entering RV and fighting near either Sides base would allow me more than 25 fps on my pc, or on an 8 man team with 'action galore' from powers etc.
There's a lot of geometry and effects being processed when you're near a base, there's a lot of NPCs to process AI for and that's where players tend to gather. It's a triple whammy to both your system and the server.
As far as being on an 8-man team, it entirely depends on where you are and what you're doing. If you're in a small enclosed office map, your system will probably run close to 60fps when not in combat and could possibly run even higher. But during combat, your system has to think about where everybody and every enemy nearby is standing currently, where they're facing and moving, where their powers are being directed and what animations and effects it has to apply to those powers as they're being used. To a minor extent, you'll be held back from a hardware standpoint by people with weaker machines and internet connections than yours, since the game has to report all commands back to the server and then tell your machine what your teammates are doing.
Quote:My in game settings are all maxed except World Detail is 100%. Furthermore, I have no real change with FSAA maxed or off, all I can see is some jagged edges on most objects with it off. -
Also, 25fps is a pretty decent frame rate. Not optimal by any means, but it's on par with the frame rate of your average television show.
My system, with a 64-bit operating system, 4GB of memory and a lower video card than yours tends to drop to average about 20fps--sometimes less--when I travel through Grandville or some similar area with a lot of geometry, enemies and players. I'm pretty sure it has more to do with my net connection and the load on the server than the specs on my (or your) computer. -
The Badge-Hunter.com website is always great for badge information. (Link will take you straight to the Day Jobs secion.)

I'd also point you to the CoHTitan wiki page, but it's currently down for scheduled maintenance. -
Quote:There was an older lady in my SG that got her account hacked a couple times. And every time it happened, she blamed NCSoft for not keeping her account secure until she finally got fed up and quit the game.I'm thinking so too. I've heard scarcely few (read: zero) horror stories of CoH accounts being hacked and overtaken. Much less numerous times to the same person. And unless he's doing something awfully bad, there'd be no reason to ban all of his accounts, or blacklist his name.
This sounds more like a PEBCAK problem than anything. Exactly what precautions was this friend taking (or more accurately, not taking) that allowed him to be hacked multiple times?
But hey, that's what happens when you don't change your password after the first time it happens. Or the second. ... or the third. -

Quote:In case anybody was waiting on pins and needles to see if I got the badge, you can relax. I did.Yeah, I'm still at work for another 4 hours, but I'm a little worried I might not get the badges. For some reason my debit card, which is usually billed on the first of the month, was not billed until the 2nd of November. I'm still using the same debit card I've been using for close to two years, and the account had plenty of money in it.

Quote:Rather than creating player-defined spawn points, would it be possible to allow designers to choose SPECIFIC spawn points from the already available ones to put a particular mob or interactive object at? As opposed to the whole "Front, Middle, Back" thing, I mean.2. Can we have more control over spawn placement?
I'll take this question as a chance to explain a bit about the spawn system in MA. Each Architect map had its spawns changed to be generic, so that no matter what map you use or what enemy group you use, you'll know that they'll show up regardless of the map you're using.
On our end regarding specific placement, that's something where the mission designers request the world designers to set the specific location on the map where they want that a specific spawn. Allowing Architect to do this would be difficult for several reasons. The first is that we'd have to come up with a map editing program to allow players to get into the map to move the spawns around to where they want it. Another concern on our end would be exploitation, where players could place specific spawns on a specific map to pose the least amount of challenge - spawns where the enemies are trapped in a part of the map, etc.
We have a few ideas on our end on how to make this work, but it would require a large amount of tech and time to do.
I have a mish with a closed door near on the last floor of a lab map, and I'd prefer if my end boss were always behind the door... but sometimes he appears in another side room on the same floor. -

Quote:I live on the US east coast, and a good number of the announcements are made with the Pacific timezone in mind. It doesn't upset me when they don't include EST in their announcements.Oh, you misunderstand me: I'm not annoyed at the PST, I can convert time zones easily and even if I couldn't there are myriad sites that do the job. I'm annoyed at being ignored because I live in Europe and apparently don't deserve the same treatment that US players get.
How would you guys like it if the announcements only mentioned the EU time, simply ignoring the rest of the world players base?
It's common courtesy towards your customers I think. Since we're talking about loyalty and all...
Do you know why they primarily make announcements using PST? Because that's where their headquarters is. They're not lounging around in London saying, "Man, to heck with Blue Rabbit and the other European players! This game has officially gone to the Americans!!!"--they're in California, in the United States, and that's the time they operate on.
If Paragon Studios primarily operated out of Europe, I would expect their announcements to be made according to their local time just the same. It's actually kind of silly to expect them to do otherwise. -

I'm still using the same debit card I've been using for close to two years, and the account had plenty of money in it.If you can't tell whether or not your account lapsed...then you've really confused me. At the least, I suppose, you could ask CS if it did or it didn't. But wow.
Did my account lapse for a few hours or for a day? I don't know. I wasn't at home on Nov 1st, so I don't know if I was locked out ot the game.
(Does that still confuse you? Cuz it confuses me.)
If it comes down to it, I'll contact customer service. I've been with the game since CoH was in beta and don't plan to quit anytime soon, so I believe they'll be reasonable about things. (I lost a couple days due to my bank cancelling my previous debit card as a "safety precaution", if you're wondering why my bill date isn't the 28th.)
And either way, I'll wait until I get home from work and check for myself whether or not I earned the badges before I spam the poor customer reps. -
Fixed. (Cryptic hasn't worked on this game for a couple years now.)
Just as soon as they can find a way to keep the peg leg from falling off when you stumble around after drinking all that rum. -
Quote:It means you're eligible for entry to the beta once they start the "loyal customer" wave of invitations. I believe 5+ year vets still have higher priority.I logged on today to find i've got the determined badge and the other one (cant remember it) Does that mean I've got into GR beta at some stage? I was confused by the whole thing.
Note that the beta won't actually start until some point after New Years, in 2010. -
Quote:I haven't quite run everything, and I doubt anyone (devs included) has memorized every bit of the storyline. However, you're suggesting things contrary to some very prevalent and important story canon.Excuse me if I haven't run every freaking mission or memorized every bit of the storyline.
Quote:I will say this when talking about alternate universes all bets are off. I'm not saying youre wrong but all things being equal my theory could also be true. We have something like 4 or 5 different known universes here most human based. There could easy be a few dozen dimensions where my ideas are correct. But it doesnt matter. NON of us have sufficient information to determine how it's going to work and it doesnt really matter this is a game not the good word of you're divinity of choice. There's no reason to discount any possibilities.
Nobody's saying that the stuff you're suggesting couldn't be in some parallel dimension. They're just saying it's not in Praetoria, and for the most part are backing it up with proof.
Quote:In the next issue Paragon could be attacked by Muppets for the Sesame Street dimension.
Quote:Stop taking this so seriously man.
It's fine to speculate on things, but for pete's sake, it's still two months (at least) away from when the Going Rogue beta test begins. We'll learn a lot more when it gets here, and things are likely to change significantly between the start of beta and the actual release to the live servers. -
It's a little short notice for something like that, especially since nothing of the like has been tested on the Test Server.

Fill the mission with as many patrols and/or "named boss" groups of allies as it will take and set it to end when the glowie is clicked.

Quote:Then you're a Mutant, since that "ability" was what lead to your powers.Yeah, but what if you were naturally born with the mutant ability to be bitten by a radioactive robot genie?
The powers thing is iffy, though. You still might just get terminal magical nanite cancer. -
Quote:Do we know that Vigilantes won't be able to speak to contacts in the Rogue Isles? But wouldn't Villains get more teams becuase of the Vigilantes in the Rogue Isles? They can't access the contacts there, they can only join Villain teams, so wouldn't that create more teaming in the red side?
I was planning to churn through all the Villain content with my Hero using Ouroboros. -
Quote:I actually tried to imagine what my characters would look like with all the SOs literally attached to them. And all the "Invention" origin enhancements being an abomination of the salvages they were made of and attached to them as well.
It was not a pretty picture...
Something like this?

Quote:http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/impetusI'm a roleplayer, and decent names are hard to come by on Virtue. I don't want to play on a different server, or pick an immersion-breaking name like Impetus5467 instead of just Impetus. Obscure references and non-English words don't really help on Virtue, either.

The patch notes haven't made it to the page on the main site yet. It had a fix for some animation issues and for Ninja Run's PVP values.

Quote:The only problem there is, if your mez protection toggle had an enemy debuff on it, and someone managed to mez you through it, wouldn't that drop the toggle completely (as opposed to just suppressing it)?I like the idea for possibly adding the -DMG aura to Entropy Shield. It fits the name, and considering EA is meant to be the Brute version of Ice Armor, very appropriate. Though I'm not sure how I feel about a taunt aura in a status protection power.

I don't know why everybody is getting miffed that there weren't quivers and scabbards in this booster. Frankly, I'd be pretty ticked off if I were forced to pay to get them in a booster when the community has been clamoring to get them (along with things like backpacks and jetpacks) for years.
[/Devil'sAdvocate] >_>
Seriously, though. If they add quivers, scabbards and the like to the game, I'm pretty sure they'll be part of either a standard Issue release or a full expansion like Going Rogue.
