MoBSF is the only one I haven't completed myself, but I've been collecting tips on it as well.
One of the best ones I heard from the last mission comes from a friend of mine known as "TehPyro." He suggests that you fight through the patrons as normal, then when Reichsman shows up, fight through the first ambush. When the second ambush appears, have everyone O-portal out, go back to the mission entrance and then fight your way back through everything that stands between you and Reichs. Pull the ambushes that have made it into Reichs' room back into the hallway and take them out there.
Sure, it takes a while longer, but it'll make the fight go a lot smoother.
(Edit: Somehow I missed Lothic's post that basically said the same thing...)
I should note that Lothic said you need to be a Villain or Rogue, which isn't true... O-portalling as a Vigilante doesn't kick you off the team; it just gives you a much longer commute to get back. Especially since you can't use the Mission Teleporter on a Master TF run... -
The drop rate on them is technically unknown, but last I heard it's estimated to be about 1 in 2500 level 47+ minion defeats. It could be more. It probably is, and someone will shortly be along to call me an idiot. (It certainly feels like more when you go 6+ months without a single one dropping.)
Furthermore, in addition to what Dechs has said, the purple recipes can only be slotted by level 50 characters. However, you retain the bonuses given by these recipes no matter how low you exemplar--even if you do the Ouroboros mission that sets you all the way back to level 1. -
Quote:I don't know about the CoH-only version, but (as much as I hate saying things like this) I think the jet pack thing is just a way to con stupid people out of $5. And I don't blame the devs for that; that's a marketting issue. Why do they even have the jet pack and the CoH only version still for sale? Seriously, does anyone even BUY those?
But, whatever works for them, I guess. I'm happy the server lights are staying on, and I'm not paying for anything that I personally don't find worth the money, so... *shrug* -
Quote:Except for your initial posts in the thread, where you said that Kheldians could deal with it and play other characters until the fix came through in a couple weeks, right?
Having said that, you absolutey cannot release an update if it cripples an entire AT. However that doesn't change the fact that a company needs to deliver on its promises and/or stated goals consistently to continue to be successful. -

Well those pics were a little (more) unrelated (than usual). But I actually want to see Tron Legacy because I liked the first one. The other stuff doesn't hurt... at all.

Quote:Those boosters aren't on sale. Just the Cyborg, Magic and Science Boosters, the Wedding, Mac and GVE Packs and the (lulz) 30-Day Jetpack.Thinking of getting ninja and mutant pack, though I only really want the mutant for the animated fox tale.
Quote:Haven't checked General forum yet, wondering how many nerd raged whiners are claiming they should get refunds for purchasing them at full price on day of release. -
Quote:Which, again, people need to keep in mind, as the US dollar--the currency by which the vast majority of CoH players use to pay for their accounts--has become severely devalued in the last few years./edit: Oh, you were wondering what the y-axis represents in FatherXmas' graph was....that looks like south korean won (millions).
If, in 2006, there were about 100K active subscribers in the US, much of that same base could still be playing today and paying the exact same amount in US dollars, but would be contributing much less to NCSoft's Korean profit listing. -
Quote:I was just thinking the same.I'll break down and add the wedding pack to my collection if I can get it at 50% off.
If the Origins Pack were included in the 50% off deals, I'd likely also purchase it for my second account... but I'm neither surprised nor upset that it's not. And I've already got everything else on it... >_> -
I'd try two things.
First, schedule a disk check on your system drive for the next time you reboot your machine. I can't recall if the process is any different between doing this on an XP machine (which I'm on now at work) or a Win 7 machine (which I have at home), but you should be able to find the option fairly simply by going to Computer, right-clicking on your C: drive and going to the Tools tab. Click on the Check Disk button, set all options on, and tell it to go next time you reboot. Then reboot, and leave the computer to do its thing.
Second, make sure your drivers, especially your video card drivers, are up to date. Just because the computer is new doesn't mean the manufacturers installed the latest drivers. If you don't know what video card is in your system, you can post the results of DxDiag or CoHHelper here and someone in the forums will point you in the right direction. -

I disagree with your disagreement.
First of all, if bad weather has any sort of negative impact on players (rain makes fire powers less effective, sunny days make ice less effective, storming decreases player accuracy, snow/ice slows movement speeds), then people will avoid areas with bad weather until it clears up. Similarly, it's not fair to players if one powerset gets a boost (like ice works better in the rain, or fire works better in a drought) when the majority doesn't get those bonuses.
If there are weather-dependent spawning rules (snow makes thugs stay indoors), then it's going to really screw up missions where you're tasked with street hunting, such as the giant hunt in the Numina TF. But unlike the Rikti Raids (that last for what, 15 minutes?), you want them to last THREE TO SIX HOURS?
Your other suggestions for gameplay additions don't really sound fun. Open-zone missions where you have to lead an NPC to an objective (because it's so much fun in Warburg, right)? How would you even handle helping someone's car being stuck in the snow if you're, say, a Defender? Sorry, how would you handle it and make it fun to do?
The only thing I don't disagree with is that yes, weather would make the game more immersive. But, as War Witch has said, she's not going to add weather solely for immersion purposes. -
Quote:Don't forget little details like the fact that we're in the worst recession in what, 40 years? And the fact that the largest playerbase for the game exists in the US, whose dollar value has plummetted in the last few years...See that steep mountain? That's a lot of people playing and buying the "expansion" product that came with a free month of playtime as well on top of their subscription numbers. Quite high right. Let's look at the next "expansion" sales period starting with the pre-sale period. Q2 and Q3 seems to be a baby slope on your favorite coaster. Numbers don't lie, there's less people playing than what there was a year ago, server load views are clearly changed from days of old.
It's pretty telling that 2 quarters worth of pre-sales, party packs, subscriptions and all of the other purchasable content doesn't get them higher on the sales chart than a year previous when it was mostly just subscriptions with a booster pack sprinkled in here and there or even before there was even booster packs.
Thank you come again! -

Kheldian form powers and Domination are not working for a lot of beta testers.
Anyway, much as I was looking forward to respeccing this weekend and kicking butt on the Apex and Tin Mage TFs next week during my break, I'll live. -
-
I ended up dating a girl that I met in CoH the week that it launched, though I didn't know it until after a couple dates. (She later went on to WoW, so that had to end.
)
There've been a couple attempts to meet up with in-game friends. Last year, a friend of mine from Florida came to my town to visit some family friends... but it was over a holiday weekend when I was visiting my mom. Another friend of mine threw a CoH buddy party this past spring, and I was all set to go to that... until right beforehand I found out he's got several cats, and I'm deathly allergic.
I was going to go to HeroCon this year, but since they downgraded it to a one-day meet and greet, I couldn't warrant spending all that money travelling cross country. Furthermore, marketting's lack of info until right before these gatherings makes it a huge pain in the butt to get plane tickets and a hotel reservation at what I would consider a reasonable price, not to mention time off from work... -
No one is asking you to (well, other than NCSoft Marketting, but who cares about them?
). However, I think it's being heavily implied that you're being a little overly-vocal about things, since every time a microtransaction thread comes up, it boils down to you retorting things every other post...

Quote:I don't know for sure, but it's likely he didn't have broadcast chat open (which would be why he didn't know that it was an organized raid). If this is true, did he notice the 6 or so ppl shouting in broadcast HIS name, asking him to stop? Did he not see the 8 other players in/on/around the bomb trying to click it?
Quote:I hope this doesnt happen again. -
It would be really nice if, in future raids, you could give more warning before attacking the GM. Most of my team was running back from the hospital and we didn't get credit.
Other than that (and the lag), it did go very smoothly. I think I pulled in around 400 Vanguard Merits, even with the hospital trips. I look forward to attending the next one.
Quote:I know this player fairly well. He did not do this intentionally--he got on a PUG that wasn't part of the scheduled raid, and didn't realize that there was any order to things. He's not really a badger or anything, he just saw an open vent and tagged it, thinking he was helping the raid as a whole. The ONE single action that we should have ZERO tolerance for is a single player, waiting on the sidelines for a team to clear an assigned grate, to swoop down and steal a easy bomb plant for themselves. This happens from time to time, but it was so blatant this past Sunday night, I felt compiled to mention it here.
(snip)
In the future, plz, get on a team, run the raid with the rest of us, get your credit straight up. Don’t rely on these tactics. We do our best to make sure everyone gets a fair shot.
It's been explained to him what he did wrong, and I did invite him to come back and join official raid teams in the future. Please don't be too bitter towards him, it was just a misunderstanding and a stupid mistake.
Quote:My team and the team which had the plant taken from them got together and cleared another grate on the other side of the ship. I’m not sure if we got it done in time for them to get credit. -
Welcome to the year 2010. Everybody does it these days. And as many, many people have already told you... if you don't like it, don't pay for it.
-
Are you telling it to run with administrator permissions? (Right click, Run as Administrator)
-
It's all good. I did some experimenting this weekend and discovered that a +5 minion gave exactly the same reward as a +4 minion, so intentionally crippling myself wouldn't have been worth it anyway.

My Kat/SR Scrapper first (for endurance), followed by my Stalker (for damage), and then probably my Grav/Kin Troller (for either recharge or endurance).
Eventually, I intend to have every boost built for my Scrapper, so I can switch them out situationally. The accuracy boosts have options to increase defense, so I can use that when endurance will be covered by team buffs and extra defense is necessary (Master run TFs, for example)... and more damage and recharge are always nice options as well. -
