  1. I know some people are all gungho about the crafting/invention system but back when Statesman was the big cheese he pretty much stated it was on thebackburner idefinitely untill they could make it fun/usefull/balanced all at the same time. To me at least, that seems like it's going to be a very long time.

States also mentioned that part of the reason for the Hammidon enhancement nerf was that we would get 50+ content consisting of enhancements that were greater than 33% and the content revolving around collecting them. Allowing players to make their 50's more powerfull WITHOUT raising the level cap.

I'd imagine any 50+ content were going to see in the next month will resolve around these Uber Enhancements and not inventions. Unless the invention system consists of us using salvage to make these uber enhancements.

Well, I thought there could be a chance to "reward" people who have been playing for almost 3 years instead of guaging them. It seems like this is the perfect thing to introduce into a rewards system, but you're right, why give something away when you can charge for it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow... I mean really... Wow. They intend to give a veteran rewards system, but because they want newer people to have a chance to get this stuff they're going to charge a measly ten bucks for it and your complaining because "You've already paid your dues"... Well I for one will happily pay my ten dollars in addition to accepting my 2.5 years worth of veteran rewards for playing since the game started. I certainly don't mind whatsoever. Thank you for your hard work Devs in making things I would actually like to pay money for. =)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I can at least see where Jeffrey is coming from. It would have been a nice opportunity to actually make good in a substantial manner on the concept of veteran rewards. Of course from a marketing standpoint it makes more sense to try to sell it, but I don't understand why we as consumers should be cheering them on for charging us for that which we'd have certainly appreciated receiving for free.

I seriously do not understand the MMO-community mentality that companies are entitled to or at least deserve customers cheerleading their efforts to maximise profits and defend them with great vigour when another customer expresses displeasure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

1.)This $9.99 Upgrade is $40.00 cheaper than the boxed Expansion we were originally planning on shelling out for.

2.)Since alot of us plan on getting the upgrade plus the veteren's rewards, we would like them to be different and not redundant.

3.) While we may like things for free, companies won't spend as much money developing freebies as they will items they will profit from. $9.99 is a small price to pay to get features that would have most likely not existed otherwise.
  3. This is a "nice" guide but you probably should include information about the Temp powers you receive for completing them successfully.
  4. If you've kept up the latest news of the COH/COV Good Vs. Evil pack, coming soon, you would have noticed that it will entittes it's owners to a Prestige Jetpack.

This guide may soon be simplified to "buy the GvE edition"

Right, but Kinetics mostly works the best when everyone is working together as a team. The tank grabbing agro, while anothe controller holding the stragglers in place, allows Kin to take full advantage of fulcrum shift. If everyone is not working together and the mobs and teammates are all scattered about, then fulcrum shift loses a lot of its effectiveness. Though this ALSO applies to empathy. In fact even more so.

Buffing and "healing" needs the team to be working well. IMHO, it doesn't matter if you have all the buffing/debuffing/healing in the world. Bad team tactics, people not paying attention, people thinking they are superman, etc., can still easily cause a team wipe, or one or two deaths.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Umm..... I agree with you, but I was just trying to point out that Kinetics is superior to Empathy, with any team that doesn't play like chickens with their heads cut off.
  6. I'm assuming that was sarcasm.

In a related note, Posi had mentioned that there will be a zillion Jetpacks to choose from. I'd guess that jetpacks, wings, and trenchcoats will all be like capes are now ,back options.

Step 4. Delete all characters on your chosen server under 30. "What?!?! You've got to be $@#&ing kidding me!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

I enjoyed your guide. It was a fun read and had lots of usefull information. I do however have to disagree with this one piece of advice.

Once you have a charecter that you like the powers/costume/concept/name there is no reason to commit genocide on the rest of your creative works.

From my experience, players who delete lots of charecters are the ones who are likely never to make it to level 50.
  8. Sure, healing is good. That's one of the reasons why I play Kinetics. Transfusion is probably the strongest heal in the game. Kinetics also lets me spend the other 90% of the time buffing and debuffing.

Good players will not need contant healing under most circumstances. AV fights may be a different story, but even then Transfusions heal with -Regen component is still probably more usefull than any heal an Empath is capable of, in that situation.
  9. Balefull, your sig is sooo good I'm going to steal it!!

9 out of 10 times in my opinion, someone who says "we need an x" is right that we need something, but wrong about what x is

9 out of 10 times X is equal to getting rid of the person who said we need X in the first place
  11. Great guide(rant). It was both informative and entertaining.
  12. I agree with Dual Masks sentiments. The guide is well written and chock full of goodness, even though are opinions vary.

Wether on my kin/rad or a rad/kin I always jump for Sipon Speed as soon as possible. It's a fantastic power all around. In COV where we can get jet packs and jump belts you can hold off on a travel power all the way to interntial reduction. So if a siphon speed misses, your not stranded running with sprint away from angry mobs. Not taking travel powers allows me to get swift and health early on and use the slots at those levels to fill in your more usefull powers so they can ready for full effectiveness once you hit SO range.

I skipped Proton Volley on my Defender builds, but for Corrupters I've found it to be a great investment. Radiation is pretty low damage single target wise and Proton Volley changes that equation. You can get it incredibly early on and it does fantastic damage compared to your other powers. Pulling with it allows you to chop mobs down into managable bite size portions. Proton Volley followed by Siphon Speed is one of the best pulling combinations in the game. Once you have the trifecta running you most likely will rarely ever use it, but in the preSO game it's a fantastic tool.

I'm also not a big fan of Electron. It is really slow and when your face to face with the enemy it's hard to make the cone hit any meaningfull amount of baddies.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
So, if you're not a controller or a rad then just get your hit and chill out on the rock, it won't be long before you get your HO. 30 holders and 10+ AM's are PLENTY to get the job done, and it goes much faster without all the lag.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what would your ideal Hammi Hunting Force Consist of ?
  14. [ QUOTE ]

But probably the biggest difference between solo xp and group xp comes from the lack of downtime between missions. Groups seem to waste a lot of time rebuilding the group, deciding what mission to do, or running through someone's mission who "forgot how old it was."

    [/ QUOTE ]

He hit the nail on the head with this statement. A team will fight larger and higher level mobs than a solo player, but often hobbled by downtime between missions.

Now, if you can get a motiviated group, who are all XP hungry, you can trump solo XP easily.

Sometimes just a duo or trio of powersets who compliment eachother will burn through missions much faster than either could solo. Just imagine a Stone Tank/Brute teamed up with a Kin Defender/Corrupter or a Regen Scrapper with an Empath in tow. They become much more efficient and finish bigger missions faster than they couls solo. More mobs per mission compunded with more missions, and the mission completed xp bonuses that come with them, per hour means faster leveling.
  15. Great guide.

I would like to contribute one tidbit.

On almost every outdoor map, if you travel directly in the middle between two mobs you will be out of their perception range. Use commons sense, occasionally sometimes mob spawn practically on top of each other, but more often than not mobs spawn far enough apart that their perception range does not overlap, so it's safe to travel in the gap between them.

Now there are places where the terrain makes this impossible like the woods in Perez or the the upper right corner of the Hollows.

I routinely run my lowbies on any map in the game without getting ganked by mobs. The Hollows missions can usually be reached safely by staying on the roads or hugging the outside walls, and avoiding the Pumicite Infested Gulch. I would also like to mention that the using fences to block line of sight, like the guide suggested, is essential in the Hollows and is a tactic quite often missed by those unfamiliar with the zone.
  16. I'm guilty of 10.) Leader me This.

Of course the team leader was guilty of the other 11 steps, so it was teh only way to get rid of him.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Excellent post. Lots of great info here, clearly written and well presented.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I definitely agree.

I do however have one slight criticism

Where possible, I have provided numbers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There weren't many numbers presented at all.
  18. I think Warshades in COV will be awesome.

In their alternate forms Warshades are basically Flying Blasters and Teleporting Tanks. Since Blasters and Tanks aren't available in COV, Warshades will provide a unique play experience in COV.

Also, since Positiron stated that the "Going Rogue" feature is a long way off, Warshades will be the ONLY way to experience the joy of Blasting or Tanking in COV for the forseable future.

Heck, I've stopped playing my Warshade in COH in anticipation of their invastion of COV.
  19. THANK YOU
    THANK YOU
    THANK YOU

I frequently outlevel most of the early badges.

Your guide will give me an outline to follow for my newer alts!
  20. Psst !!!

I was tooling around all over Grandville with my level 21 Mastermind just last night. That's just using Sprint/Swift/Combat Jumping.

Okay, sure the turrets lit me up like a Christmas Tree when I tried to jump over the wall, but avoiding mobs is just about getting used to judging mob perception ranges.

  22. Not being difficult, I am just enjoying this debate.

    [ QUOTE ]
My take is that, despite the human possess-ee, a Nictus without a human host can be a Warshade as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I haven't seen anything in the COH fiction that supports the idea that a Kheldian can survive seperation from their human hosts after bonding with them. Admittedly I haven't played a squid all the way to 50 yet.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree

Since they are Science origin I always viewed them as merging with humans to form a new species. They don't seem capable of leaving a host or manifesting any mind control powers so possesion just doesn't sit right with me.
  23. I would assume he took SS to stack with Stealth to get near complete invisibility.

It's a really usefull combo to set up PBAOEs and Cone attacks or to just stealth/scout missions.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
In other words, 'Warshade' is just a title for the Nictus who's gone good, if they're not good anymore, then they're just simple old Nictus..

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is the crutch of our dissagreement.

    As I understand it.
    Kheldian is a race.
Nictus are an offshoot of the Kheldian race who modified themselves through science to become a seperate subspecies.
Warshades, as I understand them, are Human/Nictus Hybrids, another race as it were, not a Public Relations Title.

Now I understand your argument that "Warshade" is a title for dogooder nictus/human hybrids. I just don't see where the fiction supports that or how you came to that conclusion.

When you crossbreed dogs the new breed has a name reguardless of the temperment of the dog.

Nictus are no longer true Kheldians.
Warshades are no longer true Nictus.

There are Nictus in the game and they don't look like Warshades.

If Nictus was just a political affiliation I could see it, but Nictus are as much Kheldian as Vampires are Human.
