The simple solution is to add purple rolls in rewards for tickets/merits.
[/ QUOTE ]
they're gonna nerf AE rewards, not bump them up.
[/ QUOTE ]
at which point nobody's gonna use it...but eh.
[/ QUOTE ]
As long as they maintain a rough equilibrium between the rewards available in 'real' and MA content people will play it.
Right now MA is rewarding much better than 'real'- they could put quite a hurt on its payoff without tipping the scales the other way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its only worth more than real on a farm. on a regular mission its hilariously substandard. After all, the most i get out of an average "real" mission in the ae is about 60-120 tickets, no end of mish reward xp, no roll at the end of mish, and no rested exp. -
Mines soloable. But then, its designed for lowbies so if that turns you off..then oh well. :<

Thanks all for your interesting comments to my initial post. Though some have vehemently defended the AE, I still wonder how good it will be for the game over the long term. I can understand that people that like leveling fast don't want the boat to be rocked. Certainly understandable. But I'd think eventually everyone will get tired of playing the same two maps for months or years at a time. But maybe I'm wrong. Everyone plays games differently and it seems Paragon is happy with this super speed leveling option. If they didn't they'd have changed it months ago. And as a game ages and the player base consists mostly of just hardcore players then a fast leveling option can keep them happy as they try all the different power options. Maybe its not a bad plan. And eventually maybe some players will lose interest and go back to other leveling options which will give everyone options on how they want to play the game.
I tried logging in this afternoon looking for people that wanted to do the newest TF. No luck but see a double XP weekend is coming up and will try again. My CoX gaming friend and I will see how it goes then. I think both of us are pretty bored now and will probably put our accounts on hold next month. If the new Rogue expansion has a significant amount of new content and gives the players more interesting options for leveling we might come back. I'm also eyeing Champions and will watch how that progresses. I don't plan to get it day of release but will see how the reviews go and evaluate it then. I've actually enjoyed my time away from MMO playing and don't know if diving back in fills me with as much joy as it used to.
Thanks all for your comments, both good and bad.

so in short "hi, I don't care what any of you said, I still cant find pplz and I'm unwilling to take any suggestions about using or joining some globals or finding a good SG and instead will continue whining" -

I understand where your coming from with the "Why play @ 50?". We can either go PvP, do farm missions, or do TF/SF's. TF/SF's are pretty much just more critters, on more maps, which we've been doing for 50 levels. This game doesn't have any real endgame content. Hami Raid? Pretty boring imho, and a rikti raid. How many times are you gonna want to run the 2 raids this game has lol. Pretty much the point of the OP was that this game is severly lacking in end game content, and the point of this game is the "journey", not the ending. Which sucks.
[/ QUOTE ]
On the contrary, it certainly does not sucks. Best to have a good time and fun while playing the 1-50 levels than only start playing once you are 50.
And once you get to 50 for the first time and realize there is nothing so special about it, maybe people should take their time and enjoy the ride with their next alts? No! They rush to AE to get PLed to 50 once more! Go figure...
Problem is not the game. Problem is the players. It's all in their head.
[/ QUOTE ]
So why can't we have both? Why can't we have exciting dynamic leveling and an endgame that keeps people coming back for more after 50?
It seems they tried, and for some succeeded with the addition of PvP as engame content, but that clearly doesn't appeal to many, and the rules overhaul did nothing to help that. Hami raids were another attempt that was moderately successful but that was never more than a social event for people with top of the line computers.
No, enjoying the journey to 50 is important, but this game does need something more in the way of 50 only endgame content.

When did i say i never farm??? I rarely do boss farms, but i do farm the hell out of the cimeroran wall, and doing itf's

How big is the difference between "farming 24x7" and "farming the hell out of"?

Oh. then i have even less empathy for him. he's one of those farmers who doesnt understand the value of his money. The sorts I make all my cash off. -

I guess you just play a lot more than me. If you're looking at an unlimited budget scrapper.... let's call that potentially a 5 billion inf build just for grins. You just spent 4.5 billion on your fire/kin. So if you're claiming you made nearly 10 billion by farming the walls and doing ITFs, I certainly won't call you a liar, but let's just say I'm deeply skeptical.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only reason i started that thread was bc i had my f/k tweaked out, and i wanted to make something that was awesome... bc i didn't think i was gonna like trollers, but i do, so... now i wanna roll a scrapper, but i wanna get saved up first
no i haven't built my scrapper yet, i plan on purpling out all of my toons, i just decided to make my f/k the first, bc he's meh moneh mayka
and for those of u thinking that i bought my inf (which I DID NOT) why would i start a thread about fixing the virtual economy if i wasn't using it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because the virtual economy isnt broke at all outside of needing more supplies and therefore your ideas sound somewhere around misguided and ill-informed? -

Honestly, I don't think you need to give tips on how to make inf to a guy that said he just spent 4.5 billion on one character.
[/ QUOTE ]
It depends on how he made the inf. >_>
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, considering he supposedly just spent 4.5 billion, yet is asking for a scrapper build where influence does not matter, I certainly have my suspicions...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. the same suspicions I had when he casually remarked he spent 4.5 billion while saying he never farms and showing minimal understanding of market pricing?
Plus the fact he calls it an "extreme build" makes me giggle. -

IT COST ME 4.5 BILLION!!!!!
I'm sure if i was a little patient, and decided to farm the cim. wall 24/7 i could have gotten it for less, but that is ridiculous...
So, who wants to play president and draw up a plan to get the virtual inflation down... other than taking out AE...

Add supply and you will get deflation...
Stop witch hunting farmers... most sell what they get so that add to supply and bring down prices.
Increase doing missions with rewards 47-52 regular in-game content.
Do TF's and SF's as you are leveling and after... merits are your friend.

The devs are not going to block the AE from new players. It's heavily been advertised as an alternative levelling method.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, 7th post, not too bad, tho a bit later than I expected.
The farmers are oh-so-quick to trot this out whenever the topic comes up. "The devs want it this way", when I'm sure if you asked them all now, at least half of them wouldn't. It's possibly the worst possible reason to keep AE, and the best possible reason for moving it OUT of Atlas Park.
"Why yes, my 50's all have Brawl 6-slotted... why do you ask? BTW, could you show me how to get to Crey's Folly? And do you know where I could find Paco Sanchez?"
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. because we definitely never had those types pre-AE.
Oh wait. we did. all the time. -
[ QUOTE ]
I would like to point out. That if the current drop rate of purples does not change, and with the small chance of pool C/D drops from bosses, the supply of these items will most likely increase. With the potential to "normalize" the prices on the market, so that the average player, the guy only on for an hour or two at a time, can afford to IO there toon as they see fit. Rather than have a system where there are the have and have nots.
I like that notion, and hope it comes about.
[/ QUOTE ]
there will always be have and have nots for the simple reason that most people are too damned lazy to work for anything.
IOs arent hard to afford if you're willing to play the market or farm money. But sitting around in atlas all day [censored] about IO prices wont get you anywhere -

Quite obviously you'd need to remove the level restriction on the zone.
And even more obvious is the fact that this isn't a serious solution, but more of a way to get people to think outside their tiny little box.
Ah well....
[/ QUOTE ]
I see no indication in your original post that implies the suggestion being serious or not so how were you expecting me to not take it seriously?
I'm sure there's a good reason there's a level restriction for the area too, one of them being perhaps to prevent lowbies from beng able to buy raptor packs there and thus invalidating the incentive to do the safeguard mission to get it.
Last but not least Peregrine Island isn't intended for lowbies anyway. I'd imagine it's hard enough running past snipers there to get to Portal Corp without getting one-shotted.

Lvl 1 villains can be tp'd to the vill jet pack vendor in grandville. Devs hate heroes!!!!1!!!11!

Its a simple matter to just swim your way to the cap au ferry and once you hit grandville the walk there is through an enemy free-zone. -

Qr - if the 'choose your own team size while soloing' thing is not in the MA, will the rewards for farming using it be greater than those from an MA farm? If not, it wont dent the MA farming signiducantly.
And does this new shiny tool mean i can start TFs when solo now?
eco
[/ QUOTE ]
I gotta agree with cap here. If they dont allow you to do this in the MA, all its gonna do is draw off people who prefer farming drops. XP farms will be alive and well. -

[ QUOTE ]
So I should get less XP on my already-terrible-for-XP arc because I think it's a lot of fun to try it with different characters?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, since all your characters share missions and XP.
What? Since when does a mission that one of your characters does ever affect your others?
[/ QUOTE ]
Your idea and your reading comprehension leave a bit to be desired.
To spell it out as plainly as possible:
I use a single character to do all of my initial testing whenever I create or tweak an arc.
That character plays all of my arcs many times to test all the changes.
Since doing this in Test mode is completly retarded as you get no rewards for it, I do it in Live mode.
I made arcs that I enjoy.
Since I enjoy them, sometimes I just play them because I feel like it.
Speeding Through Time gives terrible XP, but is a lot of fun.
Playing Speeding Through Time with diminishing rewards would give even worse XP.
Does that make it clearer? Your reasoning is that the only people playing the same arc more than once on the same character are farmers (as if I care what they're doing anyway), and I'm proving to you that you're wrong. You'd be punishing people who test their own arcs, enjoy their own arcs, play through their own arcs with friends, play through their friends' arcs more than once, reviewers asked to repeat an arc to see if changes helped, etc, etc, etc.
tldr: It's a bad idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
qft.
I cant count the number of times I've ran my fusionette arc with a new alt just because of how much more fun and easy it is than soloing atlas park or mercy if I dont feel like farming my levels. -
[ QUOTE ]
Hypocritical as it may sound, I both flip purples (not gouging) and hate their inflation. I doubt it's all that uncommon.
In fact, I'm so disgusted with the price of purples that I've basically grown apathetic to them insofar as builds are concerned.

I agree with you completely. I must make the sidenote, that AE has made it nearly impossible to find a good PUG for running door mishes. Hopefully, as you suggest, the newbs will be thrust back onto the streets, and we'll see more Vets LFT with other Vets.

Next april fools day, it would make me laugh if they ran a script that looked at all the bids on the market for IOs that don't exist, and then filled them. A large number of billion would go up in smoke, mainly from people who could afford it.
The howls of "What do you mean I paid 2BN for a call of the sandman" would be quite amusing.

I'm with you. More power to NCSoft if it keeps their bottom line from shrinking as the years tick by, but NCSoft, [u]Please, please add a better way for people to get pick up groups going for non-AE missions![u]
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the LFG system could use an overhaul.
[/ QUOTE ]
/signed
World of Crapcraft actually had a decent system for this. You could select what you are looking for (ie. quests (down to individual quest names)/dungeons/raids etc) and it would automatically show you who was looking to do the same thing. You also had the option to "auto-join" a group that was looking to do the same as you.
Not to say this was a perfect system to use by any means, but the search capability is much more robust. It also depends heavily on players actually using it and setting themselves "flagged" to find specific teams.
Any improvements to the search would be welcome, although global channels work great too for finding teams.
[/ QUOTE ]
This.
After all. tyhe only reason i think people see this "problem" isnt that people arent out there, its that people either
1: use broadcast, and most broadcast teams are now in the AE
or
2: use globals and SG/coalition chat, which others seem to not know about. -

I personally liked kicking the snot out of the Mitochondria AE grinding missions. Good exp and good influence.
News flash some people like to farm and it's fun for us.
You don't like it that's fine the gaming world does not revolve around you or me.
I pay my monthly fee I'll play how I want and personally I am sick of always running all over the zones to farm missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seems like your complaining about what the devs are doing to AE to curb the mindless xp exploits.
Also, true, you may pay to play and your play any way you want, but in the end, its not your game. Its the Developers' Game, and you'll play how they let you.
[/ QUOTE ]
By the same token, its as much our game as theirs because if we disagree with their vision, we can stop paying. its their game, sure, but without the players, they have nothing. -
[ QUOTE ]
It isn't really AE that is at fault here. What has happened is that the game has grown stale, and people have left it. Server populations are down quite a bit from even last year.
AE is what is keeping the game alive at the moment; people are able to find groups there without a huge amount of difficulty that would be the case otherwise. For example, Victory (Hero) is hovering around 150 to 250 people across all zones, while Protector (Villain) has gone as low as 88 during the day.
This is a common complaint throughout the boards, that it was AE that caused the current conditions, not that people are turning to AE because it's hard to get any entertainment waiting around for groups from the such a small and scattered populace - the actual problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hardly. a lot of people stay in hidden mode, you know.
