Personally I'll keep doing what I'm doing and let the mods decide what does and doesn't break their rules.

Latency is a real issue it reduces the quality of play for everyone involved.

    1. I hate having my sessions held up because your almost a day away from me.

    2. When companies create regional servers, they feel there is enough business to support it. Play and support your region! Show your intelligence and purchase your regional copy. If I hear another lame excuse like " I accidentally bought a NA edition." I'm going to puke...we can see your through your lies. People are not a dumb as you think. We trained you better than this. Don't embarrass this fine community with your ineptitude.

    3. Why would Koreans want to play with NA? I'm just using this as an example. There is a 12 hour difference. I'm getting up, your going to bed.

    4. I get plenty of regional spam now on CoH. Why would I want global spam?

    Why? Why? Why?

The comment line is now open.
    1) Huh?

    2) I got fed up of running Brutes solo EU side, so I switched to the US where there are more players meaning PuGs are plentiful. This was around 9 months back and chances are the EU side has been busy recently but I'm not dropping my current alts, I'm enjoying them too much.

    3) Because #2 failed in their case, the regional servers were closed down and all Koreans do play US side (or maybe EU side). As do the Aussies. So what if you're gone to bed, they can play with others from their region instead.

    4) How exactly do you know the difference?

And ironically I tend to get less latency from Dublin to Virtue than I used to from Dublin to Union.

  6. Oh, and as an Euro-in-exile I would LOVE for F2P to become an option so I could revisit my old stomping grounds, since a unified US/EU system seems to be something NCSoft couldn't give much of a toss about resolving.

That's the kind of thing games do when they are close to dying. That "other" game has been close to dying almost as soon as it launched.

Sure it's sad when a game lays off people and it is a matter of concern. But people like BAB have been at this game for many years. For all we know he accepted the layoff willingly as a means to move on to other projects. Let's just say it's far too early to be assuming this game is dying any day now.
As I posted above the F2P model has been applied in situations where "close to dying" has not been the case.

I reckon it's a business model NCSoft are looking closely at. Of course with the plethora of expansions and optional packs they are churning out over the last few months they do have their cake and can eat it for the moment.

Given the lack of splash GR seemed to make overall in the gaming community I wouldn't be surprised to see it announced at some point.

I dunno, there may or not have been other examples, possibly featuring wee hairy-footed types, which seemed to have been pretty healthy too but which also may or may not have gone down the same route and may have been recently reporting that now they are even healthier.

    Allegedly.
  9. I'd edit your post to remove the mention of any other game here. The Community bods are allergic to other games, it makes them break out in hives. Alternative you can switch to a telepathic channel, or possibly mention a steakhouse, although Mod12 apparently hasn't read that memo.

Raising the fees is probably a non-runner, I wouldn't be surprised to see NCSoft announce a F2P model sometime in the future as a response to forthcoming "external pressures".
  10. In the specific case of Static Field it won't work at all for you, or rather it will but it will try and heal the invisible pseudopet at the centre of the field which is radiating the Sleep effect.

As far as I knew the Invasion Code in general (and Rikti Invasion code specifically) is supposed to switch off debt while it occurs.*

    1) Yes. They're scaled level 30 enemies, and rather tough ones compared to say the Banished Pantheon. They are a PITA for a lot of lowbie characters, especially pre-SOs.

    2) I don't think so, Debt is switched off when an invasion occurs as far as I know.

Oh please. Now you're just talking crazy.

The simplest solution is obviously that some lady travelled back in time, got herself into Chaplin movie premier footage and then decided to ring her boyfriend to say "Hey, guess where I am. Try sticking on that DVD of the Circus, go to the Extras and forwarding to 0:58 mins in... Got it? Good. HI THERE DAVE!!"
  14. I don't think I've seen any other Elec/NRG Domis around at all. He's great fun though and excellent at soloing at a decent pace.

I think a lot of people still think NRG is as it used to be and don't realise it's one of the heaviest hitting single target Domi sets going or know how excellent Power Push now is.

PB and Conductive Aura is amazingly effective as well, and being able to knock a particularly nasty enemy into a wall and quickly follow up with a hard hitting melee attack which has a good chance to stun is excellent.

He is my third attempt at running an Elec Domi though, Elec/Ice felt like I was pelting them with ineffective snowballs and Elec/Thorns could have been interesting but the redraw was driving me mad and I was worried about the DoT interfering with Static Field.

Reading the entire sentence it's pretty apparent he meant tickets, not merits.

200 merits takes like literally less than 15 min to get in most cases, and a single map can make up to 1500 tickets, which nets to almost 7 reward merits by your formula
  16. Occasionally. My first Resistance Praetorian, a Broadsword/Fire scrapper called De Flambe, was inspired by the Frothers from SLA Industries, so he has a cyberpunk highlander warrior look to him which I got right from the off. So much so now that I'm at a complete blank with what to do with his second and third slots now he's level 30.

My Plant/Empathy has the opposite problem, she has 5 cossies, all different and all right for her, she's ridiculously easy to generate costumes which feel right for. She did need a visit to the Steel Canyon tailor to get her Burnt Wings before she was right initially though.

A number of my other characters are devised after the costume was made and saved, for example my Elec/Energy Domi was given a cossie I made when messing around with another characters 2nd slot. It didn't work as that 2nd slot but it fitted a brand new praetorian tech Domi perfectly.

And tell me, why would I play most of those games on a PC when there is the much, much simpler method of "Insert Disc" for a console? Rather than having to deal with Error Message XR2892B-Q for the hundredth time. The exceptions being those that support extensive modding like Fallout 3.
Yes, I love the way Consoles don't have any DRM at all, much handier.

Steam is technically DRM, but pretty much unobstrusive DRM. Given the number of CDs and DVDs I've had scratched beyond use over the years it's a godsend for me.

Especially when I decided to upgrade my laptop and was simply able to leave it run overnight to install my games and saves on it.

Fallout: New Vegas...according to the numbers I've found, it has a 360 sale-rate of approximately 10x (850k for the 360, 460k for the PS3, 90k for the PC) that of the PC for week one. Now, one cannot verify if that was because of the DRM requirement for the PC or not.
You mean those figures which do not include Digital Downloads at all? Like here? The ratio is 6:1 and refers to physical downloads only. No Steam sales in there.

If PC Gaming was indeed dead then PC Gaming companies wouldn't be bothered writing / adapting and supporting games for it. They aren't a charity.

It's not dead, it's not super-dooper-fabulously-massive figures. It must be somewhere in between...

I just thought the usage of the phrase "Sleeping like a babe" was (bitterly) ironic and whomever originally coined it obviously had never actually been near a sleeping baby for a prolonged period of time

It does seem as though I should probably just ignore pools, at least thus far; I can see being able to pick two powers to drop, but more than that seems ridiculous. I'm trying to figure out what things do -- part of it, I think, is catching on to the similarities between some of these powers and things in other sets. (Inky Aspect looks like Oppressive Gloom with the serial numbers filed off...)
Dechs guide is a good place to start. Also accept that your first few powers are mostly useless and will probably end up unslotted and unloved.

After that really it is up to you. Personally I went along the "Squidy is for blasting, Dwarf is for tanking, Human is for other bits route" and picked accordingly (so skimped on the human form blasts and toggles and focused on the controls and self-buffs more).

Respeccing at 12 (to preload your Squid form with extra slots thanks to the early slotting "feature") and 22 (to do the same with Dwarf form) is very, very handy too.

Yep, the suppression period from firing it off in Footstomp would blanket them out

1 in footstomp, because it is an AOE and it will be fired off every 10 seconds or so (which is also the time the PROC causes a Surpress effect on itself once it has been tested for in a power).

Oh! and another thing... the Call of the Sandman Proc, if it hits a group in say Sirens Song would you only get 1 application of 5% heal to self like the +recharge proc from Forced Feedback, or would it check on all the mobs hit to gives stacked heals like a damage proc...

:P confuesd myself there almost lol

It's not changed when you're flying, it's just that the knockback is directional, so if you fire it from almost above them you're knocking them directly down into the ground.*

Call of the Sandman works like a damage proc, it'll check against everyone you hit and I think it can trigger more than once to provide multiple heals (I think, haven't managed to see that happen myself).
  25. In terms of just not being in the way all the time Zombies >> Bots.

Bots are a nightmare in any tight map, and noisy to boot. Personally I'm always much happier to have a Necro MM on a team with me rather than the bulky, noisy doorblockers which are bots.

Mind you Demons are the worst of all. Wretched things.

In terms of overall damage bots >> zombies, but they are much more annoying to me if I'm teamed with them. Zombies are much lower key.
