So long as you can place entities such as the MM robots as seperate units, I'll be happy. Seeing as you run into a Lich all on its lonesome in one of the Villain side arcs, Im guessing you can do that..? Hoping, at least.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think you can, all you can do is specify the types of regular spawns in the mission.
Hopefully you can tie Ambushes to the custom AV in some way (trigger X number of ambushes at X (Y, Z...)% health to simulate an AV calling reinforcements. Like that RWZ mission where there are 2 or 3 Rikti ambushes triggered when you attack the AV (that was messy the first time I tried to solo it. Fun the second time once I'd scraped myself off the ground) -
Yes, once they get past level 24.
The first 24 levels are a bit of a slog until you get to specialise apparently. -
There's also some interesting new data on Red Tomaxes City of Data site, taken from This US Thread
Mission Maker Primary sets
Mission Maker secondary sets
I guess these are the sets available to your Custom bosses.
There are no Mastermind primary (ack, there goes one of my ideas for an arc), Kheld or Arachnos Soldier sets available, everything else seems to be there in some form
*Edit : From that US thread the following are also missing : Electric Armor, Ninja Blade, Ninjitsu, Shields, Poison, Thermal, and Dominator Secondaries.
*Edit 2 : And a list of Available missions pets is on Red Tomax too, although since it doesn't have the Clockwork King I'd assume this list (and probably the others too) isn't complete yet. In fact reading further this seems to be an (incomplete?) list of Pets that can currently be found ingame. -

*Floats in Nova form with 85% resistances and 130% damage boost*
It's ok. We can take it
I suppose thats the other side of the argument, WS Dwarfs get an easily perma AOE power which also boosts their form damage significantly, plus they'll have 1-2 pets floating behind them also dishing out punishment. And they can carry over Human Mire & Eclipse into Dwarf form too. Making them weaker pure Tanks than PBs is something I can deal with in return for all that damage capability.
[/ QUOTE ]That pretty much sums up why Warshades have no reason to complain. While a taunt aura would be convenient for a WS that wants to tank, it would make them over perform compared to PBs. That's assuming they don't already.
[/ QUOTE ]
In terms of orange numbers WS's are a fair bit ahead but one of my Defiant SG mates runs a Dwarf PB and he's quite capable of being the main tank in most situations, including the LGTF with little problem. If I tried that with my WS it'd be... messy.Especially once I ran into an AV.

[ QUOTE ]
I stand corrected.
And now, I think I'll go and gloat at a WS for being an inadequate tanker.

It does make for some frantic play when you aggro 3 mobs of Rikti at once or whatever though, like the fun PuG I was on last night. It was great fun TPing about and trying to off-Tank the extra spawns but I really did wish I had something a bit more reliable than just Taunt to keep the ones close to me on me. Although no-one died so I suppose that's success -
Here's a question that occured to me last night : Will we be able to make / play co-op missions with the Mission Editor?
I sincerely hope so. -

As far as I know the only inherent to have been changed is Defiance because that was a bit poo really. But (and I'm very happy to be corrected here) the other inherents are "as is" - the same from day one.
So that means that they've been going for almost 5 years.
[/ QUOTE ]
IIRC Not quite from day one of the game, so not five years.
The hero inherents only came in after CoV came with its inherents - before that CoH didn't have inherents iirc. So you could look at it as any inherent, no matter how poor, is a bonus...
Note: I wasn't playing befoe CoV nor before CoH inherents and I'm going off memory, so I may have it off a bit!
[/ QUOTE ]
More IIRC, and partly hearsay, but I think the Scrapper and Tanker "inherents" were there from the start, in near enough their current form. Same for khelds, when they came in slightly after the start. They weren't presented as one of a set of special perks, though, just part of the basic capabilities for each particular AT.
It's only when villains arrived with an Inherent per AT that the existing hero specials were rebadged as Inherents, and a few new ones added Controllers, Blasters and Defenders.
I think.
[/ QUOTE ]
Almost, but the Controller Containment was brought in in i5 as part of the "Arrgh, my pets" patch (aka the GDF or whatever they called it). I think Controller Hold Criticals were in from day 1. Blaster and Defender ones were added as part of i6, or soon there after. -
I liked the Dual Builds idea when it was bandied about.
Then I realised I couldn't be bothered creating a new build and SOing up again, as well as then maintaining it.
Plus the realisation that on Khelds I'd also have to burn a respec to pre-slot the forms with the 1-6 slots etc, I just gave up and played instead. Once (if) I hit 50 on my WS (only 6 levels to go, should take me a year or two) I may do a build slanted towards more human form powers, maybe.
Other than that I've no real reason to Dual build any of my other chars really. -

Someone is going to have to come up with another acronym than MA. I thought this was about Martial Arts.

I thought it was about a certain near-sighted Aardvark and wasn't sure why people were posting screenies of him

Some thread titles in the RP section have confused me before

Just so long as you don't have a load of confused roleplayers trying to get under your skirt you should be fine -

I think the GM thing will be removed to prevent merit farming, but I can't see any reason they would limit the number of AV's as I seem to remember something about no xp/influence in these missions?
[/ QUOTE ]
There is XP, just no inf or drops as far as I remember.
Interesting on the multiple AVs thing. I wonder if they are going to remember to include the SO the AV drops in the "No drops" thing. Otherwise I can see a hell of a lot of level 20 multiple AV missions being made. -

Maybe a little less on-off, have it scale down as people lose HP.
[/ QUOTE ]
It'd have to really, otherwise Sonic defenders get a bit of a bum deal along with FFs. -
[ QUOTE ]
Give defenders a damage buff when everyone on the team is at full health (applies to self when solo).
Doesn't help them do their job, but rewards them for it, and encorages them to get in and fight when buffs are buffed and heals are not needed.
Also helps soloability.
[/ QUOTE ]
That'd be nice alright. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Given that PBs are so shiney, they could have a -ToHit PbAoE effect added to Shining Shield and Dwarf Form. Just a small secondary effect, say 3-5%.
That would give them a bit of thematically appropriate survivability that would fit with the "better at tanking" concept.
[/ QUOTE ]Oh come on. PBs already have a Gauntlet effect in White Dwarf Flare when WSs don't have one in Black Dwarf Mire. Giving PBs a freaking taunt aura on top of this is a bit much. I wanna keep agro too, you know.
Give Black Dwarf access to Orbiting Death if you're doing this. <_<
[/ QUOTE ]
I did have the thought (before the i13 changes to Khelds) that it'd be nice to mark a few Human Form powers as usable in Nova or Dwarf form (including maybe one power pool for each). Unlikely / unneeded now really (but I'd still like a taunt in Mire please). -

I don't see why you think a PBAOE knockdown wouldn't be more useful to the majority of PB players.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not what I said. I was simply challenging the assertion that it was a particularly good power.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, you said [ QUOTE ]
Edit: Thought you where talking about Dawn Strike. Solar Flare? I didn't think anyone took that. It's a rubbish power, you can't use it in the air, and the damage sucks. About the only reason to take it is because the knockback is useful when soloing. Make it knockdown and it wouldn't even be good for that.
[/ QUOTE ]
In other words now it sucks, and would suck even more if it was made knockdown. I strongly disagree with that assertion.
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, KD is usually better than KB. The devs know this, and take it into account when balancing powers. What nerf would you have in exchange for a buff to Solar Flare?
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't have any.
PBs could do with a bit of help later on to keep them in step with WS's, this change would follow the "PBs are better at tanking, WSs are better at damage" ethos that the 2 ATs follow. -
[ QUOTE ]
Solo (or in situations when you find yourself isolated), radial knockback is quite useful, especially if you are well equiped with ranged powers.
[ QUOTE ]
You can't see the value in a PBAOE that can do knockdown every 10 seconds when slotted up PRAF?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not useful for me, as I am slotted up with +def set bonuses, and always fight with Hover on.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are not the vast majority of PB players though PRAF. Most I've seen don't fight in perma-hover mode. And since you wouldn't take it either way I don't see why you think a PBAOE knockdown wouldn't be more useful to the majority of PB players.
I've never been in a situation where I thought a PBAOE Knockback would have been useful really... Whereas a PBAOE knockdown is always nice. And like I said if you really loved the knockback one Knockback SO would convert it back to its old form anyway.
Oh, I thought of one place PBAOE knockback is handy, that really annoying "Stop 30 Fir Bolg escaping" mission.
Personally I think changing it to knockdown could only be a good move, with no drawbacks at all. -
[ QUOTE ]

Wait, what? Knockdown is always better than Knockback, especially on teams. And especially since Knockdown can always be slotted back up to Knockback if you really want too. Making something Knockback -> Knockdown is always a better idea as it makes the power more flexible. In terms of incapacitation time there's little difference between the two anyway (but as least with Knockdown they're clustered nice and close for any follow-up AOE you or your team unleash)
*Edit : And looking at the stats Solar Flare recharges in 20 seconds. You can't see the value in a PBAOE that can do knockdown every 10 seconds when slotted up PRAF? That'd greatly increase the usefulness of the power, especially on teams, for human form PBs. -

I would guess that the thing that has Requiem all hot and bothered is the Kheldian eating beings that twilightson mentions when you talk to him.
Which dose kind of scuppers my theory that the creatures he was talking about were nictus tho i suppose they still could be.

So, what is different about CoX that means that players can make good missions in NWN, but will only be able to make sucky missions in CoX? Maybe you think that only idiots play CoX, NWN has a much smarter player base? Please explain you reasoning, because it makes no sense whatsover.
[/ QUOTE ]
The quality and scope of the Mission creation tools.
NWN lets you create custom maps, enemies, scripts (as in programmed scripts), NPCs, Conversation Trees, hell almost everything. The Mission Architect won't let you do any of that as far as I'm aware.
NWNs tools have far more scope than the Mission Architect in its currently known form.

I concur with TBA (you don't mind if I call you that? It just rolls off the tongue.. erm keyboard).
My poor laptop (which will run Bioshock, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect) has awful trouble with CoHs Particle effects for some reason. Although it does mean on my WS I can actually see most of my cossie since the #particles are at the floor. -
I'll reserve judgement until I see how the interface works.
Hopefully they haven't let whoever design the mess that is the Auction House interface anywhere near it. -

Just got off the phone to my parents, and discovered they are sitting under a foot and a half of snow...

Are they not a bit cold? Tell them to stop lying in the garden and go inside into the house for pete's sakes.
Unless they've built some Ray-Mears-stylee shelter out of snow and are lying in that of course, in which case they're probably lovely and toasty (and eating a meal of berries, bark and moss, which seems to be the equivelent Sunday Lunch to Mr Mears. How does he stay so portly?) -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes we get hamidon, yet another thing thats both sides and doesn't actually count to this rant whatsoever.
And people moan about the length of the trials etc they hate blueside but at least you have the option. We got 9 TFs less content to not do and thus the reason vill TFs take 60% less time is because we got nowt else to do and know them like the back of our hands as we lack 9 others to mix it up!
[/ QUOTE ]
I wonder if the lack of dev support in adding new SFs has a lot to do with the fact that fewer people play villains? It's just not worth their while.
But certainly there should be a SF for every level range in the game IMO. -
[ QUOTE ]
trials/ respecs Perhaps cos the only trial we get are RESPECS oh well my fault for misquoting but who cares still know wat i meant and the point still stands
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, the respec trials, got ya. Going on the rewards the devs seem to be saying the Villain one takes 60% of the time the hero one does, I've no idea if that's true or not, I've never done it.
The Heroes one has a ridiculously overlong, dull ending where you wait to be attacked, it takes ages between spawns. So maybe that is skewing the Devs famous Merits Rewarded = Average Time to Complete equation?
If it is then yes, they should both be equal, for the Heroes side you spend ages sitting around doing nothing for a greater merit reward, which hardly seems right.
