It's like the blooming farming issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was in the middle of testing this before the servers went down. I don't have any information on what you can do with the MA farming wise, but if what I am planning can actually happen... well, leveling won't be a chore.

[/ QUOTE ]Well, you can do huge boss-only spawns with nothing but melee powers, making a team of controllers with the right powersets quite effective.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Grav/TA controller LFT

Kiting is nothing new but the levels you could take it too with the MA is a bit silly. Letting people create Lieut / Boss only maps was a very odd decision.
  2. And we think we have it bad. Imagine the servers going down at 10pm on a Friday night

Really NCSoft seem to adopted a "whatever suits us best" approach with little thought gone into how it affects non-US based accounts.

they used to mention on the forums well im sure Bridger /Rockjaw used to announce when server down time was gonna happen., maybe give us some notice.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If it's being run from the US can we even be sure that GR is being told about downtime? ANd if my clockwatching is correct it's still pretty early in the US, so it's possible that Avatea (or any other community people with access to EU boards) may not be in work yet or may only just be being told...

It's bad that we're getting 30min ingame but it's not certain that it's GR/Avatea failing us on this score.

(And, IIRC, GR is leaving around the end of the month - so they may be trying to organise communications without relying on his role anymore)

EDIT: Also this may well be temporary - I14 launched too early and the MA service is very possibly being thrashed harder than the devs ever thought... so plenty of bugs/problems/improvements to make that probably need dev attendance - so are pretty much bound to US time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wait, are these patches even being applied to Test first?

That said I do agree that it would help the games survivability considerably if they upgrade the graphics somehow. I have seen nothing to indicate that this is not in their plans already.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It wasn't so long ago that it was confirmed the Paragon team are looking at possible graphical improvements.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like this little snippet/tease/wink wink, nudge nudge/hint.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've heard so many of them over the years I've learnt to filter them out as irrelevant to what may or may not actually happen in the game.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
For 2 hours its down now yeah, we got ingame message half an hour ago.

Obviously was met by the usual "what the suger?"

Edit: I wouldnt be as annoyed if we got an announcement stating downtime, not 30 minutes beforehand.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ok, that's ridiculous.

Whatever about needing to update a new Issue fine, I can understand why they do it then. But if it's a case of "Every patch is now going to be applied at this time" along with "We're not actually bothered about notifying people on the offical EU forums" that's just stupid.

If someone is messing about in the MA Designer (You know, the feature you just added which takes up the entire screen which by it's nature it's very easy to get lost in for ages) they could lose tonnes of work with this approach.

    Very, very poor customer management.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
So how much longer will our EU servers be brought down in the middle of our day? Servers have been busier and back to their normal states last few days with lots of chatter/competitions going around, but how do they expect to keep this up if EU servers can only be played in morning or afternoons?

If this is only a short term solution then great, if not . . . . . . . then theres a problem.

/end rant of an angry paying EU customer

Edit: I'll probs get a telling off for this but would be nice to know

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Is it down again?

    @Muu 's Footsteps Initiative arc.

Chuckling was had, including over on the GGOOC channel (who were the folks responsible for pushing me in its direction).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, after seeing your and FFMs recommendations of this last night I started it with my Brute. Great fun altogether, insta-PuG with some hilarious characterisations. I especially loved the first missions End Boss dialog.

The "Roleplayer" creeped me out though. Especially since I was playing a rotting corpse at the time (hit a nerve though, was playing the same character on a PuG before and some "female" started flirting with him. Eeeew. Although telling her that I had higher standards than that seemed to work).

Yours are next on my hitlist Arctic, as is Sauls Discount Taskforce (I started it before but stopped midway to join a team).

Avoiding the Search altogether and just copying and pasting from the forums seems to be the best way to go about things. Easiest way to get decent missions as oppose to "Kill a load of Lieutents and click some glowies for badges"
  9. I agree with most people here, mainly for the Farming MA issues it would raise. It's bad enough as is without a billion "Farm Munkies, Vampyres, Warwolves and Master Illusionists" maps popping up.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
    Oh, it doesn't exist.

Just a weirdly vague reference to his tendency to make his attached name incredibly obvious. Don't actually know the guy beyond some really creepy book covers in my local Woolies though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dammit, I went looking for it. All I did was confirm that all he's done recently is kids books Looking at the list on Play.com it seems the reason the Name thing gets done is that a lot of recent releases are comic book versions of the older novels by different people.

I've a feeling any Guest Author missions are going to be of things like Web comic authors such as Scott Whatshisface from PvP Online (although they long ago stopped being about computer games really).

Clive Barker's March of Statesman, written by Clive Barker. Introduction and foreword by Clive Barker.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry are you telling me he has a new book out, that this is his last one, that this is the kids one, that this is the Story Arc he's done for CoH or that this is the Story Arc you wish he'd do for CoH?

Cannae find it on play.com anyway. Needs moer infoz plz!
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I must admit, it would have been nice if the "Guest writer" part had at least one arc done by a dev or even better, Clive Barker

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I second this motion.

Where the hell *IS* Clive Barker anyway? I haven't seen any of his books about in ages.

I think I saw one new one in the kids section of Hodges Figgis but that was it.

Though if im honest i cant WAIT to have my own kids!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ugh! I can't stand the little basta... buggers. Nope. Not having kids. Can't have any anyways.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Evolution rigs it so that yours get some weird mind control over you so you can stand em even if you hate other peoples. It also warps your mind so you think the fact they smear their own poo into their hair when you're not looking means they're artistical geniuses rather than gross little monsters.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    I an NJN.
Whats the meaning of "defensive debuff"? that it proc when the pet that have been slotted is being attacked?

Btw in which NJN pet should i put it? And why it won't work on Dark servant?

    tnx

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, Achilles Heel belongs to the Defense Debuff set of IOs. So it will only go into powers which accept Defense Debuff Enhancements. Dark Servant does not accept Defense Debuff Enhancements since none of his power debuff an enemies defense.

In terms of which pet to slot it looking at City of Data the Tier Ones don't do any Defense Debuffs either and don't accept them.

So the process of elimination says the Jounins since they're the only ones who can actually slot it.

Happy Birthday! Wish you all the best!

PS: Another Aries... I think if we gather we can form a huge army and rule the world. Mars is our ruler anyway, we will be victorious.

If you actually read what I said, it said to try again, so maybe you could try not being so condescending.

Of course it would have been better if they released it with a system that worked in the first place.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So if it says 'jump like a rabbit through your room', you would do it also? Something with common sence and stuff.

    Serious.. lol.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If a transaction server tells you there was an error but you should try again then that's what I'd do. I'd assume the transaction was rolled back properly and it was safe for me to retry.

If it just threw an "There was an error with your request." then I'd stop and wait.

Graphics update - probably, but hopefully along the lines of EVE, where you don't have to use it if your system can't handle it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Latest update for EVE Online made the "Premium" client the basic client, increasing the graphics requirements to a card with Shader Model 2 and above. There's some sort of "Premium Lite" (SM2)/"Actual Premium" (SM3+) division, but the old graphics were done away with completly.

No SM2 card? Get buying, game won't run for you no more.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, what EVE used to do then

    [/ QUOTE ]

Until they figured out developing, testing and maintaining for 2 graphics engines was a bad idea.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Would be handy if the inspirations simply didn't vanish after being used in test mode. Since there's no reward in test mode why should there be a penalty?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually that's a superb way of giving people an optional "god mode" for testing their arcs properly too. Just pop a non-vanishing Insp a few times to fight the AV / EB so you can check their ambushes or other dependent conditions trigger correctly.

    Nice idea Cal!
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Achille's heel is defence debuff, so i say grave knights. Once they go into melee, afaik all their attacks have -def.

Dampened Spirits, arent they going like 10mil each?

    [/ QUOTE ]
He's Ninja, not Necromancy (but Achilles Heels in Knights is great).

I certainly didn't spend 10 mill a pop on them anyway and I've got them slotted in DS and the Lich (soon to be removed again).

If they are now 10 mill a pop then cha-ching, I must respec ASAP.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Some things just don't need a story...like proliferation for example.

I find the backstory of AE to be quite disturbing myself too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I fail to see how letting a mad genius (who has done things like let a madman gain immeasurable power by siphoning it off the worlds heroes) team up with an evil corporation (who are well known for harvesting dead heroes and turning them into slavebots) and allowing them access to every city zone in Paragon and the Rogue Isles could possibly go wrong.
  21. _ in binds are totally optional.

I've no idea why you'd be having trouble when you leave them out Aardy.

powexecname works fine, most of my binds omit the _ to save on space.

    *Blinks* There's a Linux client?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could be running under wine or something similar.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But it's not a Linux Client in that case, not officially anyway. Far as I know there's no Linux Client at all.

Maybe there's a Linux Client on the way

Given how they did the Mac client (and who they got to do it) it would be possible.
  23. Yeah, it's been left stagnent for a long time now. The Midnighters & Cimorororia was just a weird addition which made no real sense in terms of where the main story was going.

I would consider the Rikti War Zone a major story addition though, possiblely one of the most significant ever to hit CoH.

But then in the next issue rather than giving some sense of closure to it they came up with Wacky Adventures in Time which made little sense, and then Wacky Adventures in Sparta... I mean ancient Rome, which made even less sense to the ongoing story.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
I have had a response from customer services:

"This wouldn't be an intentional change, no. We are not aware of an issue with this at present. I would urge you again to post on the forums regarding this issue as any further feedback posted on the matter would be very useful to our developers"

What do i do now? I want Scourge back on the sentinel

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wonder how the Corrupter one is, if it's not an intentional change then assumedly the Doms are still using the Corrupter version, unless it got switched to the Defender version by mistake (or Blaster, but you should notice a jump in damage)
  25. Erm, Achilles Heel is a Defense Debuff IO, so it can't go into Dark Servant.

My favourite frankenslotting set-up for DS is Dampened Spirits -ToHit/Recharge, -Dampened Spirits ToHit/Recharge/End, a Dark Watchers Despair -ToHit/Recharge and DWD ToHit/Rech/End. That should get your -ToHit and Recharge over 90%, making him perma if you've got hasten.

The last two slots Acc & Acc for PvP I reckon, Acc & Heal for PvE.
