  1. Certainly is chaos.

    Storm is good at chaos

Just be aware lots of teamies won't like Tornado. I would have loved to try it out on the Bridger / Rockjaw event in Sirens last week though...
  2. Snow Storm slow debuff enhances only affect Running speed, not the -recharge that Snow Storm does. So I never bother 3 slotting it with slows. 1 or 2 and 1 or 2 end reduction is usually my slotting

Steamy mists +def is around 5% which is terrible. Slot it with +dmg resists instead since they're around 20% vs fire, cold and energy.

Freezing Rain should be slotted with dmg resist debuffs. Thats the most effective part of the power. Like snowstorm slow enhances only affect running speed so I never bother with them (you'll have them locked down anyway, I use Freezing Rain to increase the damage my pets / teamies are doing & for knockdown more than slow).

Hurricane I have 3 slotted with -accuracy enhances. Knockback enhances are type D which give huge bonuses per SO so maybe you only need one?

I'm not going to rant about Tornado again. Je deteste. Consenus seems to be its worth it occasionally vs ArchVillains (and you do wait until 41...) and is more useful for those controllers who can immoblize targets 1st, to prevent it going crazy.

But I'm coming at it from mainly a PvE perspective...

    Naming minions

    Mercs;

lvl 1s- Spunkmeyer, Vasquez and Drake
Lvl 2s- Wierzbowski and Hudson. (as they survived the 2nd film)
    Commando - Hicks. (just because)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Wierzbowski was one of the first to go wasn't he? Didn't he get ripped to pieces and toast some of his comrades as he died outside the APC?

And Hudson got it in the end too. Only ones to survive were Hicks and Bishop.

And Newt of course. no-one calls her Rebecca except her parents and they're DEAD OK? CAN I GO NOW?

Does your Hudson stand there going "Game over man, game over" before every fight?

Get Freezing Rain as soon as you can. It's a superb power. But its a Rain power so be aware as soon as you cast it the enemies are going to try scarpering out of it. Not au fait with Electrical Defender set but if you have an immobilise available a one-two with it is great.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I found casting Snow Storm (slotted with a few slows) kept the great majority of bad guys escaping the rain. Alternatively, pushing them into a corner with Hurricane works well (make sure to slot it with ToHit Debuffs). The only real problem I found with FR was with Inv Tanks/Scrappers who liked the bad guys grouped on them for the Def and ToHit bonuses they get.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah thats generally my problem with it too. It doesn't seem as extreme as Rain of Fire though, probably due to the knockdown and slow it also does.

Haven't really had the problem since I5 though. Tanks seem happy the buggers are running away
  6. Nope. Storm is great with a little restraint...

Uncontrolled knockback will make you very unpopular. That said most people are aware of Storms powers so as long as you don't do it continually people are generally cool about it.

And if possible try out powers on the Test Server before buying them. Tornado is one I'd try before you buy. Personally I think it's rubbish but some people swear by it for AV fights.

Honestly, it seems to me that the b145t3r syndrome is at least as common as the H34L0R one among corruptors. IMO anyone who focuses solely on just one facet of their AT is going to be less powerful overall than a person who chooses a more balanced build. And although this might get me some hate here, I think this is especially true for corruptors whose primary and secondary powersets are actually roughly equal in effectivity (both somewhat penalized compared with blaster/defender primaries, but both less penalized than, say, dominator or defender secondaries).

It just makes me wonder a bit why someone would skip the buff/debuff powers and focus solely on damage in a game where every AT does some damage, most do at least as much and buffs and heals are in very short supply.

    [/ QUOTE ]
As a counterfoil to that I've had Speed Boost two days and last night I've started getting the "Speed Boost pls" requests while I'm busy AOEing things in combat.

Actually I suppose I'm agreeing with you really. With corrupters its a balance of primary and secondary. But I've had players on my team who believe that its my job to follow them around and make sure they're Ok...

    NUMBER ONE TIP

get a corruptor friend with Kinetics and the Speed Boost power.... nuff said. (the result is me currently enjoying what i call "superdine zombies")

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've so much fun doing this to MM minions since last night (dinged level 20). Heck I was doing it to strangers on the street.

    Zombies on crack are fun
  9. As discussed the defense of Shadow Fall is pitiful, non-existant really. But its Damage Resist vs Energy, Dark Energy & Psi is pretty good.

Personally I'd take Fearsome Stare first (although I have both on my level 24 necro/dark mm). A nicely placed Fearsome Stare can lock down a large group and is great combined with Tar Patch if someone aggros an extra group. Let them wander into TP and then Stare them into trembling wrecks. Then focus-fire your bots on em one at a time to get the most from the Stare lockdown.

secondaries depend alot on your primary, for illusion empath would work out fine but for other primaries i wouldnt pick it seeing to be a decent empath you'd need to sacrifice too many control powers. Rad is good PvE indeed, but I also got an Earth/Storm controller and while storm might be better for PvP as you may say, I like it better than rad or kin on it. The storm offers a nice extra amount of control (quicksand+snowstorm+earthquake+freezing rain = alot of unhappy enemies). And of course its the player that makes the build great...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah Earth and Ice seem slightly more compatible with Storm as you can lock the mobs down so they won't blow away if you like.

Illusion / Storm is lots of fun but a lot of your powers will knockback your foes out of a Freezing Rain patch.

Fire / Kinetics sounds like a lethal combo, even post I5.
  11. Great fun altogether, although I was being one of the pain-in-the-[censored] controllers dumping holds and storms on people from above.

Got rightly TP foed and ganked for it too when the villains formed a defensive area and started nabbing me from afar for a frank and earnest exchange of views.

Saw a few forum names on the opposing side too. Black Orchid and Neo-Spawnus were two I remember. Mainly for killing me

Good fun but not a patch on PvE for me I'm afraid. A bit too chaotic a la Deathmatch Halflife. I'd prefer PvP more along the vein of Counterstrike which encourages more team-based tactical play.

What's wrong with Night Fall? It's our only cone AOE with proper(ish) damage and stacks well with TT. Seems to hit a fair amount with 1 accuracy (and what do you mean by duration? The defense debuff?).

Know what you mean about poor damage output though - I think it may just be the Dark/ set itself.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Whops... I ment Dark Pit, not Night Fall, which is a nice AoE (well, the only one really).

Dark Pit has a -10% accuracy built in, and since it's AoE, the Disorient duration is a joke. Only usable against "white" enemies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've actually taken Dark Pit since I'm Dark/Kinetics and have no secondary controls. I'd agree its not the most amazing power going but I certainly find it useful, especially in larger groups.

Carni'll be there. Of course I've no idea how I respecced meself last time so knowing me I probably left Hurricane until 32 and my travel power until 35...

So if ye see a tiny black demon labourously running after everyone else with no 'cane you know what to do Stalkers

(any heroes reading are, of course, expected to lurk around and avenge my death once Mr Stalker has kebabed me and revealed himself)
  15. Foolio, I love your Sig.

    ...
"Why aren't you in the tank"
    "Tanks broken man"
"Why aren't you helping to fix it"
"Oh, no no no. I only drive em man. I dunno what makes em work"

One of the best warmovies of all time
  16. Yep. Hurricane is so much fun with the Rag Doll graphics now.

Oh and Tornado I find awful. Some people like it, espcially solo, but I'd prefer to be ground up and fed to pigs rather than pick it. At the very least go to the Test Server and try it before buying it.

If you use it in a group you'll probably be shouted at. Unless its a really panic situation. Even then I'd take the fed to the piggies option.
  17. Carnifax is a demonic imp from the Frozen Hell of Chinese mythology. She got a Portal Express ride to Paragon thanks to a young, dumb Circle of Thorns mystic who was trying out "Summoning Infernal Demons for Dummies".

She likes it here though. Frozen Hell isn't just a name and it's an easier life here than becoming a mouthful for a Giant Icewyrm or being taken as a concubine by whatever Slaver catches her.
  18. Ah-ha. I was thinking they'd stack.

Glad I chose Gloom after all now

Never use the thing really anyway. Occasionally to pull or finish off a mob.
  19. Yeah I've a Necro/Dark MM and loved Dark so much I had to try Dark Blast and so rolled a Dark/Kinetics Corrupter.

So now I'm addicated to both and have to split my time between them. Bah.

Both Dark sets have so many toys. Its great.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Necros are possibly the fastest levelers. I really like this set. Lich doesnt add too much dmg to the set though..it will bring mostly control I think (??) and perhaps add survivability to my zombies which would be nice. And ghost...I guess it is useful too

    [/ QUOTE ]
The Spirit is a fantastic pet, toughness-wise. Plus it'll fight on after your death (and you can still command it). Happened to me yesterday with Scrapyarders (how I loathe thee) who killed me with their dynamite. Spirit fought on valiantly. Seemed to be taking a hell of a lot of damage too. Lasted ages. They were hurting it, but not much. That said its damage was rather underwhelming. But I don't really have it slotted.
  21. What he said.

Although I think you should respec in Darkest Night into the build as early as possible, especially if you are planning to PvP.

Personally I'm not sure you need Stamina at all really. But I'm only level 23 with my Necro/Dark at the mo so I could go back on that...

I have Gloom and I'm actually thinking Dark Blast would be better as it's quicker recharge so the -accuracy debuff would be more frequent. Not a big thing at all just something I was thinking. Plus the DoT can leave mobs get an extra shot off sometimes as they Gloom to death.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
The AI on my undead seems to prefer long range vomit. After that initial spew two out of my three zombies usually just stand there waiting for the power to recycle leaving the one brave zombie to go melee a bit. The skeleton just loves to blast. I wish they'd be more willing to charge in without being explicitly ordered and carefully positioned.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah same here. But once you've got Mr Grave Knight into melee with his sword out he'll stick to using it, even closing on other targets to finish them.

I always just force the 3 zombies and the knight into melee anyway. But they get eaten alive by AOEs then (boo to Scrapyarders).
  23. I certainly noticed my rate drop when I was Fire Shielded. The new shields are a lot more graphics intensive than my Fire Tanks ones.

Of course if most of your team is already shielded chances are your rate is already suffering so adding you probably won't make a huge difference
  24. I've Storm as my Alts secondary so I can give a little advice.

Gale is mostly worthless. You get the choice so go with O2 boost. It's not great but better than Gale. You'll get Hurricane for knocking mobs away.

Snow Storm reduces a targets movement speed AND attack rate. The Attack Rate bit is the useful bit. Don't bother slotting with extra Slow enhances as they only affect the movement speed. Slot with Endurance Reduction instead. And watch it if the target runs. It can give extra aggro.

Freezing Rain is your Big Hitter. I'd always let the Tank get aggro, Snow Storm a minion at the back and then Freezing Rain the group. The reason I do it this way is because Freezing Rain will tend to scatter the mob. Anything you can do to prevent or slow this is useful. Put -Damage Resist enhances in it mostly.

Steamy Mist is a useful power that gives 20% damage resist to Fire, Cold and energy (I think). I'd always have this on. So slot with end reduction and +dmg resist enhances

Hurricane is great but you'd generally not have it on all the time. If a group is in a dead end you can use it to keep them in there, in the freezing rain, and on their backs. You can also "brush" mobs with the edges of it to apply the -accuracy debuff to them. You can see when a mob is affected.

For a Storm Defender I'd get Thunderclap as a control power. But I never did with my main.

Thunderstorm I find useful. I'd slot with 3 dmg, 1 accuracy, 1 end reduction and 1 range, as its static. Its Knockback means you could set it up in front of the other ranged squishies to keep enemies away from them.
  25. Hmmm. Ok.

Go go my excellent reading ability. In my defense it was pre-cup-of-coffee this morning.

I'd still take SJ over Superspeed for getting around most zones. Doesn't SJ work at the same speed as SS?
