  1. ColdSpark, why don't you have more End Reductions in Short Circuit? I know End drain is currently a wee bit naff but its still effective when applied a few times. Personally I'd go with End Red & Recharge in it and use it to follow up a Controllers mezzes.

Also you have multiple accuracies in the Siphons but you have Tactics too. I'd drop the two accuracies from Siphon Power and one from Siphon Speed and plug them into damages for your blasts.

Although that said this seems a strong team PvP build too.

Last thing i want is my tanker invised, i am playing a tanker for crying out loud and i want to be sure its me seen first. I may taunt some and simply rely on being noticed to the rest to get the pull plus its a pain in the butt trying to see exactly where you are in a herd.

I would like to know if the stealth component affects the taunt component as i have been told it does and i may of even read it somewhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yep this is exactly what I'm wondering too, does invis affect Taunt / Aggro.

But the reasons given about the confusion in battle it causes make lots of sense. I'm pretty used to being semi-transparent (Esp with Steamy Mist constantly on too) but I'm not milling about in melee all the time.

So the general consenses is announce it first and probably just cover the fellow squishies?
  3. That makes sense I suppose. Although not really. Group Invis goes with Phantom Army so the tank won't usually be taking the Alpha anyway (unless they really want to, most are happy following the Phants though)

But it is the case that once spotted Invis makes no difference to controlling / holding aggro at all right?
  4. So heres a question thats been bugging me. Carni has Group Invis. Nice power, makes you see-thru and unnoticed until you kick off and then gives a defense bonus.

So why do Tanks give out about getting it. True it does give them a high stealth value, so they can run into a group without being seen. But isn't it the case that once they attack all Stealth is dropped anyway and the Invis doesn't affect their ability to gain and sustain aggro from the group as normal?

something I've always wondered and forgotten to ask.

I notice you've got aid other, when do use it?

    On the melee shy blasters.

I actually took it specifically for that after just being frustrated being told to heal by idiots who kept running away from meleers. It added a nice dimension to the character too.

Stamina because if I'm in Kinetics and Electric mode I drink Endurance like crazy. I know I can rebuff with Transference but if you miss or accidentally target someone out of range....

    [/ QUOTE ]
Personally at the moment I'm level 24 so I've some End issues anyway. But I just tell people to give me their blues. If they say no, no SB for you so Generally folks keep me well stocked up. Ah Blackmail. Food of the gods.

Seriously though you can manage pretty well with End, just avoid over-AOEing. The AOEs eat Endurance and won't steal you any (Elec single target powers occasionally give some of the end drained back to you) so lay off them when times are tight and you should be good.

This build is my own though, lots of things people would disagree with. I just threw it up to illustrate more or less how skipping the Fitness pool gives you so much room to play with.
  6. The same as your Tier 1 power I think. About 2.8 times brawl.

With Containment its worth it for some Controllers. But as you said Gravity have a fair few single target smashers such as Propel anyway so you may not need it.
  7. Think you're right. Vengence doesn't any more but I thought the others do.

As for powers I do see where Lord_Giro is coming from, being Speed Boost monkey is annoying but a necessary evil. Get some nice binds for em, there was a few (including my own setup) posted last week.

Lightning Bolt is much better than Charged Bolts imo, but of course you gotta take Charged. I'd take both.

Ball Lightning isn't the best power in the world. Maybe post Fulcrum it'd be well worth it though.

And why Stamina at all actually? Get rid of that and you've suddenly got slots galore...

This is my lil fellas build (Aw).

    01) Transfusion
    01) Charged Bolts
    02) Siphon Power
    04) Lightning Bolts
    06) Siphon Speed
    08) Ball Lightning
    10) Air Sup
    12) Speed Boost
    14) Short Circuit
    16) Hasten
    18) Aid Other
    20) Fly
    22) Increase Density
    24) Zapp
    26) Transference
    28) Tesla Cage
    30) ?
    32) Fulcrum Shift
    35) Voltaic Sentinel
    38) Thunderous Blast

Zapp I'm not sure of to be honest but with no Stamina needs I had choices and with End Drain borked it seemed a useful opener. Level 30 power I haven't decided on yet at all.
  8. O2 is useful for keeping your pet alive and its very useful against KoA and the like. Its certainly better than the medicine pool heals, for example. Gale is useless though (but you get it anyway)

Personally I think Tornado is one to check before you get (try on the Test Server 1st).

    Rad Healing

Ah cool. I thought it was just the amount healed that was affected.

Thats my "Something new" learned for today, wonder if they'll let me off work early?
  10. For Fire/Storm my must-haves would be:
    Choke
    Fire Cages
    Flashfire
    Cinders
    Bonfire
    Flamey-death Munkies

    Storm:
    Snow Storm
    Freezing Rain
    Steamy Mist
    Hurricane
    Lightning Storm

I'd be very tempted to get Tornado too thanks to Fire Cages -knockback aspect. Normally I despise the power though.

    For Fire/Rad:
    Choke
    Fire Cages
    Flashfire
    Hotfeet (certainly pre 32)
    Cinders
    Bonfire
    Flamey-death Munkies

    Rad:
    Heal thing
    AM
    Radiation Infection
    Enerving Field
Lingering Rad (at about level 35)
    EMP

*Edit. My god. I forgot Hurricane!!
  11. Since you've got Fly as a travel I'd slot the two Siphons (power and speed) with just pure -recharges to stack em as much as possible. It doesn't matter if they miss occasionally. Oh and Haste + Kinetics is very nasty but very End intensive.
  12. The Marvellouses just finished a Flash site so they're the experts with Flash. I'm a Flash Luddite.

For webpages as a novice you'd probably be well off trying a demo of a WSIWYG editor. That just means that you construct the site as you'd see it in the browser rather than trying to code it (as I do).

Dreamweaver by Macromedia is the most widely used of these and is certainly a good place to start. You can get a free trial download I think.

Grab a demo of Flash too while your there.

Try out a few of their demos to get going and then just start throwing a few pages up and linking them together.

For image editing The Gimp is the best named package out there, and free. I've used it a bit more recently and I've started to forgive its eccentricities (compared to PhotoShop) and am really warming to it.
    Bring on The GIMP

    For reference I go to:
Web Standards index. There are lots of these but this is the one I've bookmarked for some reason.

For going ooooh i never tire of:
    CSS Zen Garden

Once you get going post any questions or samples in this thread.

    Hope this helps a little.
  13. Got a little lost on these, especially towards the end (due to my own lack of knowledge of the chars) but enjoyed the story FFM. Very nicely paced.

Ellies Kheld sounds like the sort of team leader that drives me nuts, the front seat driver. Dead right on most things but manages to wring the fun out of proceedings. That said I don't think I've read a story where a Kheldian isn't like that. Lighten up guys

    Getting the fear

The amount of times my Phantasm Army (hero side but same concept) has gotten me and us killed...

That Warwolf mission with Shadowhunter was a great example. In that instance happily it was only me. A wolfie would run off, pursude by a Phant. Two minutes later while the team is happily comtemplating the next group 10 boulders fly through the air and squishes me flat. The rest of the team are like "Wow. They don't like you"

So yeah, we all screw up. We all hit the 3 key instead of the 4, resulting in aggro city. Another speciality of mine is forgetting I've Hurricane on and attempting to jump into a mob to do a PBAOE Hold like Flash...
  15. Carnifax

    Rad Healing

The AOE of my MMs Dark heal seemed smaller than my Corrupters or Defenders Kinetics heal though. Could be me imagining stuff of course
  16. Carnifax

    Rad Healing

Darks is a more powerful heal. However it needs a foe to hit off and its AOE is much smaller, so it can be trickier to use. The Rad one is weak but you can cast it any time.

Kinetics is even more powerful again but it needs to hit off a foe too and the AOE centers around that foe rather than you.
  17. Thats a point I've always wondered about */Kinetics. They could really respec and open up 3-4 slots when they hit 35, dropping some Travel Powers and Fitness. It's almost like a 2 stage build setup.

I was more a White-Wolf Girl, V:tM and Mage were my games...

Oh, and we had a few games of "Carry on D&D" - just for a laugh!

SLA was superb. The source books were probably the most immersive I've ever come across. The ads & interviews just brought the place to life.

This thread is like a trip down the early 90s. Discovered lots of my old 40k Stealers army and White Wolf rule books moving boxes into my new house last week. Still no idea what to do with em.

Never owned a Paranoia rulebook but I'll always have happy memories of teams of us running around Cork University looking for mutants at WarpCon years ago.

It's a melee attack alright. But its also a sort-of control with the knockdown. Combine with Haste & 2 Siphon Speeds and it can lock down any enemy totally. Great way to deal with the boss attacking you, especially combined with a few Short Circuits and blasts.

Plus I like the idea of a midget 4 foot robot (a number of my toons are midget 4 foot robots designed around a common chaisse) running up to trolls and clobbering them. Works well since Kinetics lives in melee a lot.
  20. [ QUOTE ]

Hmmm... I'm not sure I totally agree here: with Mind, you have the early combo of Dominate/Levitate (as well as Mesmerize) which can do serious single-target damage with containment. But yes, don't try to play your troller like a blaster if that's what you mean .

    [/ QUOTE ]
As I said I know little about Mind but thats exactly what I mean when one is on a team. On a team you are generally better served locking down as many as you can and debuffing them rather than focus firing on the boss who the Tank has occupied anyway.

I'm not saying "Never attack" though. Where's the fun in not being able to slam em off the ground after all your hard work
  21. The first thing is to use the search to find a decent guide. The Search is a bit useless but heres Khaine Stars much handier Guide to Guides on the forum.

Can't really help with Mind I'm afraid but for all Controllers the Single Target hold is your main attack. When teaming don't focus on one Mob, once you've someone locked down select another active enemy and hold them. Your job is primarily to slow / stop / scare / confuse things from attacking your teammates. The trick when Teaming is to see how many in the current group you can do this to, not to damage them.

With Storm the trick is not to send things flying around. That'll make you very unpopular with Tanks. Tanks like having enemies bunched close to them. Use Snow Storm to slow up enemies, an AOE hold to lock them in place and then Freezing Rain to debuff them. Freezing Rain tends to scatter them so slow & lock people under it.

And overuse (or any use nearly) of Gale is a bad thing. Its a terrible power and its the one that annoys meleers more than any (other than Rain of Fire or Freezing Rain when not used properly).

I've been looking at this build :

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...part=1#3591663

which is interesting and at L24 gives me something like:

Exported from version 1.5C of CoH Planner
    http://joechott.com/coh

    Archetype: Defender
Primary Powers - Ranged : Kinetics
Secondary Powers - Support : Electrical Blast

    01 : Charged Bolts Empty(01)
    01 : Tranfusion
    02 : Lightning Bolt
    04 : Siphon Power
    06 : Hasten
    08 : Siphon Speed
    10 : Short CIrcuit
    12 : Speed Boost
    14 : Super Speed
    16 : Ball Lightning
    18 : Swift
    20 : Health
    22 : Stamina
    24 : Stealth

    -------------------------------------------

    01 : Brawl Empty(01)
    01 : Sprint Empty(01)
    02 : Rest Empty(02)

What do you think? The lack of Inertial Reduction could lead to some long trips at my level and slower travel.

You don't need Stamina in my opinion. Once you hit 26 you get all the End recovery you and your team will ever need really. That gives you 3 extra slots.

Personally I went the Air Sup / Fly route (taking Haste & Heal Other too) but thats because I like to be able to run off for cups of tea between missions.
