Hi!

I've been away for a year and came back to find that i have a respec First question: there's no way to change your primary and secondary power group things is there? I chose Kinetic/Electric and I really have never liked Electric. Am I stuck with it?

Second question where should I start getting back into the game?

Third Question: Should I continue my L24 character or just restart and choose the right skills. Kinetic/Psych or something.

Thanks,
Fairy

Nope you are stuck your powerset, all you can change is what powers in the set you will use and how they are slotted

If you don't like electricity even after a respec then I would reroll since your near the dreaded lv30 where the whole game slows down levelling wise so it's best to go through it with powers you enjoy using, but don't delete your current defender, you may want to use him/her later

Where should you start? Well first of all get to your contacts and find some teams for missions then maybe an SG later, but beware miniSG's which consist of a 12 year old leader screaming at everyone to gain prestige so he can play base-builder

I'm going to try to respec. I'm currently assessing giving up flight and taking up Superspeed and running (although I might find it makes me motion sick :-P )

I'm also considering if I should get Rez (revive or whatever it's called) just coz everyone expects a defender to be able to Rez even though I'm not Empathy. I like the Kinetic skills but I'm not sure people understand what I'm doing a lot of the time. In addition the AoE heal (transfusion) is difficult in places like the Reactor in Terra Volta where people can be at opposite ends of the hall fighting. Still I'm tempted to make another Kinetic but pair it with Rad or Psy.

As for the Supergroup thing, a good point. I'm currently a Ronin and need to play long enough to assess which SGs are good.

I've noticed that the servers are quieter than I remember them. Is this because the players have leveled up or are there less players?

The servers aren't really any quieter, but there's also lots of people on Villains.

I've been looking at this build :

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...part=1#3591663

which is interesting and at L24 gives me something like:

Exported from version 1.5C of CoH Planner
http://joechott.com/coh

Archetype: Defender
Primary Powers - Ranged : Kinetics
Secondary Powers - Support : Electrical Blast

01 : Charged Bolts Empty(01)
01 : Tranfusion
02 : Lightning Bolt
04 : Siphon Power
06 : Hasten
08 : Siphon Speed
10 : Short CIrcuit
12 : Speed Boost
14 : Super Speed
16 : Ball Lightning
18 : Swift
20 : Health
22 : Stamina
24 : Stealth

-------------------------------------------

01 : Brawl Empty(01)
01 : Sprint Empty(01)
02 : Rest Empty(02)

What do you think? The lack of Inertial Reduction could lead to some long trips at my level and slower travel.

don't worry I did something a bit mad and after testing a spec did a completely different "make something different" spec on the live server.

The new spec is ranged (no short circuit, Lightning Bolt and Zapp are the two attacks) but features siphon speed and speed boost (or whatever it's called).

Boosting other players speed goes down very well and I was spamming it in my 3 man party and it worked very nicely.

I messed up my travel powers, going for a TP build. I don't think I like it, but maybe if I extend the range of TP it will work better.

You don't need Stamina in my opinion. Once you hit 26 you get all the End recovery you and your team will ever need really. That gives you 3 extra slots.

Personally I went the Air Sup / Fly route (taking Haste & Heal Other too) but thats because I like to be able to run off for cups of tea between missions.

why air superiority and not hover? Is Air Superiority not a scrapper style attack?

Yes, but it's also got a very high chance of knockdown, giving you a chance to run away, and is also -fly on the bad guy too. It has it's uses for squishies.

It's a melee attack alright. But its also a sort-of control with the knockdown. Combine with Haste & 2 Siphon Speeds and it can lock down any enemy totally. Great way to deal with the boss attacking you, especially combined with a few Short Circuits and blasts.

Plus I like the idea of a midget 4 foot robot (a number of my toons are midget 4 foot robots designed around a common chaisse) running up to trolls and clobbering them. Works well since Kinetics lives in melee a lot.
