1. Only thing I can thing of are on a blaster. Rest, take some hits, BU+aim, out of rest at as near to full defiance as possible, 2 shot for the win.

Incredibly risky, bordering on criminally stupid, but might get you a win, maybe.
2. Ah, good thinking. I'll have a play around, see what I can come up with - boxing will make a nice brawl replacement for my auto power for fury generation too.
3. Ah, but she is soooooooo cuuuuuuute! So you have to forgive her

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, yes you can. But I'll not repeat my full argument, as different playstyles need different things.

For an SR, stealth will be more useful for PVP than aidself. If you want to actually do some levelling, then aidself would be my choice. (I'm respeccing into a PVP build at 50, which will have stealth, but I'm pretty certain I'll pick up most of the PVP badges before then without it).
5. Ok, been playing this fella (now at 13), and wanted to get some feedback before I level him much more.

Designed for PVE and PVP, ideally for use without a respec. Pre Powersink, I'm slotting acc, endred and redredux primarily, then shifting the slots to damage.

Fly for primary travel power, and lots and lots of lovely unsurpressed ground speed.

Mainly for PVP in Sirens, Warburg and RV, especially RV.
6. I'd really recommend icicles somewhere in the build - it gives you complete aggro control over everything inside the CE aura, good damage output (helping you to protect the team by killing things faster), and is a toggle, so is always ticking over for gauntlet purposes. It works nicely even with minimal slots (mine is currently 2 end red, 1acc), but I'd suggest at least 3 end reds with the number of toggles you would be using, with other slots if you can spare them for acc/dam.

I found it really helped me to do my job as a tank on my (much more offensively focused) ice/fire, and would be a better pick than buildup or frozen aura imo.

Meh, why not?

Ducky is the MSN Picasso.

Great work again matey
8. I'm gonna have to admit I pinched the grass idea from the New Heroes Union base, then threw in the remaining touches myself.

The showers were Blind's idea - using the floodlights to act as impromptu showerheads (NHU have them as well, but they use a different way, iirc).

And no, no perimeter defence gnomes - we rely on our reputation to keep fellow blackguards away (that and threatening to set Blind on them )

That's probably how I'd build it - focusing on defending first, and stacking -res.

You've got:

A 40% heal every 4 seconds that does -tohit and -regen
4 attacks that do -res, plus tarpatch almost perma.
A -dmg, =tohit toggle that turns bosses into mewling lambs.
A perma cone fear that also does yet more -tohit (every 16s)
42% resist to smashing/lethal, 39% against energy/neg energy and 70% vs psionic. You kindly let your team have 39% vs energy, n.energy and psi too
3 holds (two single target, 1 aoe for up to 5 foes)
A mass rez that can also be used for a disorient on minions
A guaranteed stun on lts
A nuke that also stuns the mobs
SS+CJ for mobility, with superjump should you feel like it at 49
An awesome pet.

All in all, should be pretty damn fantastic
10. [ QUOTE ]
I'd go ninja blade every time.

Given that a stalker is all about hitting high damage attacks then ducking back out of combat to drop back into hide

[/ QUOTE ]

Which is one way of looking at the stalker role - I personally believe that stalkers are perfectly capable of scrapping very effectively, and claws is very good at scrapping.

PVE wise - BU + AS the boss (maybe a couple more attacks depending on rep). Placate a lt, AS. Scrap the other LT, or two minions, while placate recharges. The other alternative is to bail out to get back into hide (say 10 seconds as a reasonable timeframe). In those 10 seconds, I can drop a couple of foes.

PVP wise, as I'm not EM, Assassins Claw is a big part of the game, and any followup attack to get around the no-oneshot code. If facing multiple opponents, or a tough opponent, having good sustainable damage is far more important, with placate/AS providing burst damage. Unlike ninja, I've also got range as an option to catch runners.

I went /dark to allow me to scrap a little more, but conventional wisdom is that /dark is rubbish for stalkers too - which it is if you try to play hit and run. It's very good if you scrap though (and tremendous fun).

YMMV of course, but i just think nin/nin is awfully dull (especially when you consider that ninjas are entirely lame in comparison to say, pirates )
11. Claws pros - fast activating attacks, with low endurance costs and reasonably quick recharges. Ranged attacks in Focus and (to a lesser extent) Shockwave. Claws cons - lack of a big hitter attack.

Ninja blade - slower activation, but has two biggish hit attacks, plus divine avalanche to increase your survivability at the expense of damage output.

Both have cool Assassins Strike animations, but i prefer claws - it just looks plain evil.
12. A little tour of the Pirates of the Apocalype base - most of which has been designed by Blindfaith (apart from the garden, that was my work).

A work in progress with two images - (the images are quite big - apologies to dialup users).

Tour 1

Tour 2

Mass Confusion

Bear in mind that seductress is a mind troller - I've certainly noticed on my illusion that carnie illusionists are hard to lock down with blind - confusion works well, as does fear, but the powers with an element of psi damage are less effective against those mobs.

Against Nemmies, I forget about using deceive and spectral terror, and rely on blind, spectral wounds, PA and Phantasm, which is one reason why i dislike them (as i don't get to use two of my favourite powers).

That would be my guess at what Seductress is getting at.

Sonic/Rad?

[ QUOTE ]

To conclude : seriously, don'tgo for it, it's so very awful I cry myself to sleep at night thinking of the hours I wasted on this trainwreck of a combo :-(

I couldn't agree more with what you meant to say.

(ssshh - keep it down will ya! )

Energy Cloak!

I went 2 intred, 3 heal, 1 recharge, so i can heal between ticks of DoT reliably, using hasten to make up for the slight loss of recharge.

Apart from that, my insp tray is half greens, half purples - purples for AVs/EBs, greens to supplement aidself.

You are going to 6 slot it anyway, so try a couple of different slottings in there, find the one that works for you.
16. aye, but i was lazy and just copy/pasted it
17. Ok, with a couple of no-shows and a couple of people with bugged powers, the final will now take place on Thursday 31st August - Galaxy Arena (emerald) starting at 8pm prompt.

Right, we are down to our final 9, and with one exception (OmegaMCX) you are all on 1 life.

So, rather than giving byes, we are gonna have a good ol'fashioned high noon showdown.

We will have a round robin to determine the champions of defiant.

Team A

Katie Ann
Max Thunder
Red Hot Rock

Team B

Columna
SinghMC
Eat Static

Team C

OmegaMCX
Troke
Elerith.

Each team faces each other team once. Pick up 2 wins to claim the championship. In the event that each team wins one match, we repeat until we have a clear winning team.

Lets get ready to Rumble!
18. Captain_Morgan_EU

Energy Cloak!

Agreed - energy cloak only has a marginal defence value, but once you hit 30% defence, each additional % greatly increases your survivability, so if you have the slots spare, they are worthwhile. I've fully slotted my attack chain, aidself and energy drain are being finished off at 36, which leaves me with 3 spare slots at 37 - I could put them into my travel power, but SJ really is fine as it is, so energy cloak gives me the best return on the slots.

Then at 38 I've got the loveliness of Overload (with slots at 39 and 40 to spend on it), then i can play with patron powers/pool picks for my last 4 powers and slots.

If you have the slots to spare, they will make you harder to kill, but your main armours, attacks and buffs (BU, Energy Drain, Hasten, aid self) should be fully slotted first.
19. Captain_Morgan_EU

3vP Defiant

Yep. The final vs the Union winners will have to wait till they are ready (as we are quite a bit ahead of them i think)
20. [ QUOTE ]

I can probably steal aggro of any icetank without taunt with any of my squishie toons and get my self killed, the ones with taunt i struggle with, but i do try.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hehe, i love it when people try to steal aggro off my defiant ice tank. CE - check, Taunt - check, 2 aoes with dot - check. PBAOE damage aura - check

I'm pretty certain that the only way anyone can get aggro is by choosing an entirely different spawn

As far as the OP goes, I have two ice tanks. Both have taunt and CE by level 10. Soloing the /fire is a lot more pleasant than the /ss, due entirely to combustion, but the SS will get over the hill eventually.
21. I'm guessing he was referring to me standoff - but as I said in a PM, wandering over to that side of the pennines isn't likely
22. [ QUOTE ]

Er... taunt IS a secondary set?

Taking taunt over an attack WILL make you a worse tanker.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm guessing that is a freudian error - admit it! You're a wannabee scranker! :P
23. Dateline: Erm, today, this afternoon (ish)
Location: Onion Sirens

A little tale I like to call:

The Heroes Who Ganked Me

Faffing around in sirens this afternoon provided me with some lovely PVP moments. All the classics were there (Heroes outnumbering villains - check. Me out of breakfrees - check. Lots of Trollers/+per - check. A Warshade with a geordie themed name - check)

Had great fun bouncing around trying to solo scrappers in the middle of the mass of the hero hordes by slapping on some delicious rad debuffery, usually resulting in instadeath. Sadly, no defenders took up my offer of them letting me kill them... Was a lot of fun, but the best bit...

A certain warshade (you all know who) was performing their jester routine for the slightly bored crowds. The familiar tpfoe glimmer, and shock horror - I'm actually not in the mob! The jester, building up his routine, busts my non-existant mezz protection (i couldn't be bothered to go to sharkhead to buy any BFs) and instead of leaving me to pick up some debt, actually killed me himself!

I know, I was as shocked as anyone, and remarked as such over broadcast. Still, credit where credit is due, he did admit that he was a little stale, which had me in stiches!
