I wasn't trying to argue, but merely offer more of an explanation as to what I like about it. You're free to like or dislike whatever you want, obviously, but I always like going into details about the reasons for doing so nonetheless.

Well the Daily Show has so few laugh out loud moments for me throughout the course, of say, a year, while The Colbert Report tends to have several per month. Like, I said, though the latter is fairly inconsistent, and if you watch it regularly it starts to show. That's why I stopped watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report together online and only kept up with the former. Best to just see the Report highlights on YouTube or something.

Quote:Meant to say I wasn't around for the Kilborn Daily Show. No, the original show had very little political bend to it. And if there was, it was an equal opportunity offender. Yes, it's a critical darling and a ratings success with Stewart. I won't deny it. I even enjoyed his first few years (still not as much as Kilborn) but later it just got too preachy and started taking itself too seriously for my tastes. As I said, its probably just a generational thing.
I don't consider it preachy. One of the recent guests was discussing the nature of comedy with Jon and they talked about how good comedy has a seed of truth to it, so I suppose what I like about Stewart's Daily Show is combination of the truth that others don't touch on in a funnier way than others are capable. -
Well I was around for the Kilborn Daily Show. From what I understand, though, ratings and acclaim picked up considerably after Jon Stewart took over. It may have something to do with things being much easier to make fun of during the Bush administration.

Mad Men is definitely the most overrated show in recent television history.
Don't knock the Daily Show, though. While it usually contains less laugh out loud moments than The Colbert Report, it's more consistently entertaining and informative. -
Quote:Unfortunately the Shaggy Man, which is who The General is based on, given their similar appearances and alter-ego, is basically unbeatable. The best the JLA could ever hope for was keeping him contained and away from civilization.Oh I know, and it points out that the military solution is not always the best as well as that the way to defeat the enemy is not to become the enemy.
I got all the commentary in it, and was pretty disgusted by the character, though not surprised.
I was just avoiding all that and saying the truth. The schmuck deserved a beat down for nearly killing civilians and heroes alike. -
If you're secure enough in that building to plant charges and get it ready to roast a bunch of zombies, why get rid of that defensible structure in the first place?
And really, I'm fairly certain that if it came to a zombie apocalypse, folks could headshot them with BB pellets instead of using all those bullets. That doesn't really have anything to do with the building fire thing, but I thought I'd mentioned it anyway. >.> -
Quote:If you've got all that time to set that up, though, better to spend it getting away.see, i dunno, in individual combat, yeah, in cases where you can trick a large number of them inside a structure that has been doused with gasolene and has an incendiary device set up to a cell phone, i can see it working really well , if we are going with standard stupid zombies. really id see a tape deck doing the trick, if they are "follow any noise type. you just have to make sure, that the fire wont burn anywhere important.
As demonstrated in World War Z, a lot of the things we use for killing bunches of people at a time wouldn't be as effective. -
Setting them on fire just means you'll have flaming zombies shambling after you and possibly trapping you inside whatever protective structure you've found that now happens to be on fire.

Personally I've recently become very entertained by hearing clever adult film titles. Some prime examples:
The Hills Have Thighs
Throbbin Hood: Prince of Beaves -
I actually feel like I grew up as a better person because I looked up to superheroes as role models.
-
This is gonna make House Party look like House Party 2!
-
He should do a line of B-,C-, and D-list heroes as well, along with their own less iconic and more laughable would-be catch phrases.

So . . . Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman are playing the same character right?
Rule #1:
You do not talk about ballet class.

Well there was a time when Gordon wasn't commissioner anymore and the GCPD was more anti-Batman, but think Gordon's back.
-
Quote:Yeah, Zatanna and J'onn alone could track him in about 10 minutes tops.I'd also point out that on a few occasions higher-up government organizations have implied that they already KNOW who Batman really is, but they choose not to go after him.
Amanda Waller has certainly hinted at this, for example.
These types of organizations, if they REALLY wanted to go after Bats and managed to capture him, there would be no trial. He'd just disappear.
Granted, the way the DC universe works, his buddies in the Justice League would eventually track him down and free him.

Quote:Depends.True. Time has always been exceptional.
However, if you've caught Batman and have him in custody, your single biggest roadblock is gone. You know who he is. You know he's Bruce Wayne.
Digging out more evidence after you know this should be considerably easier.
-np
I'm sure Bruce has plans for the event he's caught.
I mean, if evidence surfaces of Luthor working with Darkseid, letting Imperiex essentially nuke American soil, and framing perhaps the greatest hero in the universe and he can get off, I think Bruce will be fine. -
Quote:Actually I think Tim figured it out when he was around a freshman in high school. At this point, it's no different than having to prove anyone else of a physical crime. You scour crime scenes for evidence, you interview witnesses, you trace money. it would be difficult because Batman tends to be very good at hiding these sort of things, but not impossible - remember that Tim Drake as a mere college student figured out who Batman was all by himself, before he became Robin.
-np
Also, Tim's a lot of things, but I wouldn't use "mere" when describing him as anything. -
Technically he could be, but he wouldn't.
The DCU is pretty pro-superhero, especially compared to the Marvel U, so you probably couldn't find a jury willing to convict him. I mean, you have to consider that if Bruce goes on trial, he'd probably have most of the superhero community willing to get up on the stand and vouch for him. Then, if they send Batman to jail, that's going to set up someone trying to imprison other superheroes, which will last for all of the five minutes it'll take for Joker or Grodd or whoever to start slaughtering folks. -
-
I'm just glad Bzzd will be in the movie.
-
I like Michael Cera. It's kind of the same situation with Seth Rogen. They both tend to play the same types of characters, but they do it so well that I'm too busy being entertained to complain about that.

Quote:HEY, GOOD IDEA: **** off.HEY, GOOD IDEA: You should create ONE DARNED THREAD per TV show. Not per episode.
Just kidding.
But seriously, **** off.
Totally seriously this time, it might work if they stickied the show threads, but they haven't so far, and it doesn't kill anyone to skim past the new episode thread.
