well their announcement thread is close to 300 pages. And I'm guessing this will kill their boards utterly. Particularly given examples shown from Lineage where a guy literally stabbed another to death over a virtual sword, and the Myspace killing last year.
-
redoing the shard TFs with more Reichsman-esque AV's would certainly make things funner.
-
Broad strokes here, not gonna needle out the details:
Synapse becomes an Arachnos TF to give them a bigger presence in Paragon. A slightly reworked version of his TF is given to Blue Steel who gets replaced by somebody else.
Citadel's TF is rebuilt around the Council/Column battle. Have his "children" be the first part that gets you investigating the situation but soon you end up having to put a stop to a BIG war between the two groups in a destroyed version of Independence Port (to secure a landing site for their offshore allies) where you take out the Centers guards forcing him to flee and beat the snot out of Requiem
Numina... just needs more of a rebuild with more of a plot than "find this guy! FIND THAT GUY!" If we hunt down woodsman, make us beat it out of people (his location) and then have it end with us... guarding Numina as she brings Woodsman back to the real world.
I donno what to do with Psyche except possibly make it more about Malaise rather than freakshow. -
I have no idea how people did this back when DCing meant you "quit" the team. The only way I did it was by getting a group via the server forums when the servers were much higher population.
I'm almost scared to try it again... -
My primary villian is an EM/Invul brute. He's not totally purpled out because of the sheer amount of money that'd require, but after a respec I've got him at a decent level.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=227050
That's got the build I'm using (the one that was an immediate reply to mine), biggest problem is that with EM you're AOE deficient but the Ball lightning and fences fixes that. -
Well, I didn't mean that they'd change it for EVERYONE, I did want it as an option :P
-
I posted this in Jays thread, but it carries over here.
Shifting the animation for crab spiders (or giving them another option) so that instead of the claws going over your head they can go down your back like a cape and then when you attack they wrap around you or under your arms. One of the few reasons I'm not crab right now is specifically because I don't like having four arms above my head. Admittdedly that'd make cutting my hair in the morning REALLY easy, but still it doesn't look good to me.
Also could there be a way where you remove the mace from the Bane spider attacks? Not like have your attacks become fist strikes, but if you put in the Crab arm guards (with the giant blades on the end) it could actually work without having a mace that you need to mess. Well, until you need a power blast but that just comes from your wrist! -
Quote:They don't have red, they've got blue names, and animated avatars. Literally they have "first" and "first page" and "first page in an epic thread" etc etc. That would be interesting considering that WoW was released some time after CoH.
Incidentally, not having read the WoW forums, do the WoW mods and devs have their names in red on the forums?
As to slashdot, I've heard of it tangentially but you expect us to understand a meme which has spread so much that it permeates almost every web board I've seen? Just because you've heard a name doesn't mean you know wtf it is. Heck, for all I knew it could have been from 4chan, but I'd seen it first on WoW's boards, and didn't remember seeing the "first" thing over here until AFTER I'd been playing on there for a while, so figured that might be the start of it. -
Quote:You mean other than the fact that the link you posted looked more like a greek letter than anything?... no Calax.
It originated on Slashdot. Did I really need to spell that out?
Honestly I'd never heard of slashdot, or any of that old stuff. It was informative but didn't have to be posted in such a volatile way. -
I think it originated in the WoW boards, where everyone would instantly rush to leap on the devs posts. They've gotten to the point where they're claiming "First page"
-
Quote:Basically, but instead of actually jumping it feels like you're just running straight up because there is NO place where you hit the jump button. And you also keep doing the standard running animation as you go up so it looks like you're literally running up a wall.I think the OP is referring to the bug where you can jump up things without a real surface to jump from. Just super-jump into any corner you kinda fly up so long as you don't run out of building. Its real handy in the Shadow Shard all those long rocks if you him em right you can get to the top with out a fly pack.

Ok. I recently got the ninja run power and was messing around on my tank. PopsicleWarhead here was on auto-run while I browsed in another window, when I came back he was doing this.
http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...mal/runnin.jpg
http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...imal/WOOSH.jpg
http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...al/wallrun.jpg
And I think I figured out why. In the third pic right in front of him is a little lip on the ground that gets him airborne enough that the ninja run starts to think he's leaping... and then he just runs up the warwalls. -
I just wanted to say, the only time I've actually felt like an evil villian/mastermind in recent times on any of my villians was during the Mane Company arc.

Quote:I was wondering what that was >.<Hahaha... As opposed to leaving an anonymous negative message
And I do admit, when you're standing there staring down a blue mook and all of a sudden you're flying through the air, yeah, it's pretty annoying, but that still doesn't beat what made me start this thread in the first place with an AV turning and swatting me off a roof so I looked like Superman from "Returns" after he tossed away the "island" falling to the ground only to get back up, dust myself off and fly back up for more. -
Honestly, Arachnos and Recluse would be better (to me at least) if they showed that they basically were separated into the four factions and then the arbiter squads, I mean their idea was that each of the 4 Arachnos LT's would run a different set of mobs (Mu, Fortunas, robots... creatures of the deep? :P) and would constantly be at each others throats trying to undercut one another. But when we actually play, basically it's just one homogeneous organization that you slaughter like lambs.
Also I personally was kinda bugged when COV appeared and all of a sudden you get "Oh, Recluse was always states biggest mortal enemy!" and yet we as heroes knew nothing about them.
I would like more interaction with those who are technically supposed to be our role-models. Have a couple standard missions where all of a sudden wall explodes and there's the phalanx or something.
I haven't looked into the lore changes for the Going Rogue stuff, but I hope that the Jenkins arc that sends you after the Preatorians is changed to co-inside with the update but *meh* -
Well in one of the Lucifer comics from Carey there was an interesting form of Immortality, girl basically re-lives the same day over and over, every morning she wakes up and has the same miscarriage because to her body, it's that same morning again and again. If she kills herself, she comes back to life the next morning etc etc.
Yes it's a curse, but it is an interesting curse. -
Quote:I think part of this is that not only do you know that he'll find another partner after you're dead (assuming your female) but you also have to watch him strutting around as a smoking hot guy while you're constantly getting older and loosing your prime.Interesting comparison. It doesn't feel like the same thing to me, but I can't make a wholly rational argument as to why, although the fact that the difference between a finite small quantity and a finite large quantity is always less than the difference between any finite quantity and an infinite quantity does come into play. Perhaps that's not necessary, though - we are talking about emotional matters, and that includes irrational jealousy. Maybe there is a person who would be happy to settle down with an immortal for the rest of their lives. Such a person would have to be much more reconciled with their own insignificance in the face of the infinite than I am.

Find, right now I'm messing with the build posted earlier and am probably gonna move my second build back to the one you have posted, but I did want to say that the build i posted had probably very little accuracy in terms of what levels I got the stuff, the character was made back at the CoV launch so I have 0 clue how I leveled him up :P
-
Ok, this was my build, all but four of the missing slots (the one in WH and Resist energies) are simply SO's that are red to me...
Oye, this is gonna take a lot of cash

Just gonna throw in there, the human mind probably doesn't handle true immortality very well. I mean at some point you're gonna go nuts and become numb because EVERYTHING you ever loved you're forced to watch wither. Jeff Grubb made a point of this in his Magic: The Ice Age trilogy, where the main character basically had a magic talisman that every 100 years he'd use to bleach his memories of emotion lest they make him inhuman in their weight.
That said, I don't think an immortal guy would date more than two women who were mortal before he gave up, partially because he has to watch the women he loves grow old while he stays 30, and partially (I think) because the women would start to get possessive and jealous of their still-in-the-physical-prime husbands. -
Ok, I could use some help with my brute, he feels a bit squishy (although I have little to compare with and the time he felt squishy I was in a ITF +2/+2 with a no temp powers) and my current starting has my three toggles six slotted (I believe, my game is currently patching so I can't pull up my build to toss into mids).
Anyway, anyone willing to give me a basic build to look at? Travel power would be either flight or jumping (I'm guessing most builds will have jumping for CJ). Beyond that I can't think of much atm. I'll post my current build (which now that I think about it, is messed up a bit) later when I fill in the mids. -
That's exactly what makes things epic... I mean it requires a little imagination but basically you see yourself fly half way across town and impact in a building like you're in the blasted matrix
-
Ok, I just recently got back to CoH from WoW (I'm playing both currently but don't log into WoW all that much anymore in favor of working on my spider), and I was noticing that I feel that boss fights feel MUCH more epic when you're getting knocked around.
I think I first noticed this in the COV end of beta where I saw probably 60 villains charging Statesman and then in two attacks a good portion of them are flying like they'd just been hit by Sauron in LOTR. Even in standard missions I feel like I'm having a more awesome boss fight when the boss just turns and punches me into a wall, even when compared to fighting somebody who will sock me so hard that were my blaster still how he was back in the old days my defiance bar would have been maxed in one shot.
Even better is a KB boss on a roof, like Nightstar. Going after her on the top of a building and then getting a force blast in my chest for my effort to fly off the roof and down 30 stories=awesome. Admittedly nothing will get me back to the awesome of the CoV beta ending because they just don't have bosses that you can fight like that (as in half a server vs one human sized guy).
Anyway, I had to get that out of my system :P Now back to work/looking up builds for my ancient Ele/NRG blaster and EM/Invul brute. -
I think it's mostly about integration or how the tech functions without a trained pilot. Integration meaning that the character has the tech as part of him (I'd say scorp falls into this catagory given it seems his suit is tied to his neruology). As to functioning, most of the spider tech still works fairly well if you're just a random bunk when you start out with it as a Wolf or Widow. Admittedly when you hit the secondaries this kinda goes out the window a bit, but Banes and Night's both could still fall into naturals, but Crabs and Fortunatas, maybe not.

Rikti Drones and 5th Column (later Council) hoverbots did not use to explode when defeated. Instead, they simply dropped to the ground.
This was changed in I think I6.
