  1. Surely even taking an energy form wouldn't protect some one from a nuclear bomb, we're talking about a blast with more explosive force than a million tons of dynamite. So yeah, surviving it in energy form would have some drawbacks, mainly the one about now having an energy form that's been forcibly dispersed across several miles.
  2. Glad you are rethinking it, it was after all a catastrophically bad idea.
  3. Appears that they've locked or deleted the discussion thread. Guess they didn't expect people to be so angry.

As others have said, you are whining.

Also, these are not "raids" in the sense of raids in other games. You form a team, and these things are usually done in under 30 minutes. OH NOES THE HORRORS! 30 MINUTES OF EFFORT!

The devs don't exactly have the best track record for 'finishing' things. I'll be pleasently surprised if they do come with a solo/small group method of advancement, but forgive me if I don't hold my breath, given that Raids are the new shiny, and the devs tend to put everything that isn't their newest toy on the back burner.

Please don't put words into my mouth, I'm not complaining about the size of the raids, merely that there is no solo progression, and that I entirely despise the 'Daily Quest' method of keeping a subscription base.
  6. I do wish we knew which Dev went "You know our soloable, alt friendly MMO that we've had up and running for six years? Let's have an end game system that is nothing like that. I know lets call the issue City of Warcraft just to make things clear where our focus is now." because he or she deserves a smack.
  7. Is it just me or is it a little squicky to continue to have social meetings on the memorial statue for a dead heroine?

Not been able to attend since some one pointed out just what the Galaxy Girl statue is.

That said I do agree that knowing the date would be iffy. However with the incarnate TFs we've seen an advance party invasion so expecting a bigger push to occur wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility so the Council could meet to discuss the invasion they expect to see hit soon and plan. The issue I'd have with a meeting during the invasions is that a significant chunk of my characters would be out in the field helping at the time, not sitting discussing it.

Whilst the initial post does imply it will just be representatives of major supergroups, that doesn't stop others getting involved. Community meetings in the past have drawn in many people, from larg groups to individuals, but a lonely merc heading in should possibly expect to see more focus given to the leaders of larger groups as that's only fitting IC (but it does give the RP opportunity to make ones point heard amongst the 'bigger dogs')

As for 'other factions' RP, I am happy to help arrange ideas if needed - I can maybe even pencil in another Mercenaries Ball at the start of the invasions, have those of a true mercenary bent offer their services and see if they get hired to help defend the earth or if a sneaky praetorian gets in to use their services to further Cole's plans,

I'm not so fussed if its like that Bunny, a sort of 'What if this happens' meeting, but wouldn't that limit it to just hero side meeting with hero and villain with villain?

I mean its one thing to team up with your enemy when your back is against the wall, but another thing entirely if it's just to discuss 'What if' this or that happens.

The visions thing though, just smacks of the meta-game Doomsayer RP that infected WoW up till Cataclysm launch. It wasn't pretty, lets try to avoid such things here please?

We do need to ask though, because Statesman is kinda a **** sometimes, especially when it comes to things he thinks he can (or should) deal with himself.
  10. Some what iffy on the meta-gaming side.

Can't you arrange emergency meetings for after the event has started, rather than having characters with the amazing ability to check the city of heroes website?
  11. Could be fun, especially as the previous Kidnap Statesman stuff, may or may not have happened prior to level 1 in Preatoria.

Given Arachnos and Longbow actions in Preatoria, it's easy for Pro-Cole players to view it as justified retaliation against the US and Rogue Islands.

Really? Because jungles full of pygmy cannibals has been done in other media ove rthe last few centuries so there's nothing strange about Game B's expansion?

Hehehe... ok, then. That's one way of looking at it.

A large difference being if the expansion/plot line/game is based on a common genre trope.

Mirror universes, or 'What if?' universes are a standard occurrence of Super Hero Comics, what is CoH based on, and what is the Pen and paper RPG system that CO takes its inspiration from based on?

    That's right Comic Books.

Or to put it another way, is Rift ripping off World of Warcraft, because the current BBEG in both games is a dragon?

I'd say no, because Dragons are commonly the BBEG in high fantasy.

Could also of been that they saw DC's Crisis on Two Earths, The Justice Lords episodes of JL (I can see a lot of similarity between the Justice Lords version of earth and Preatoria, at least when it comes to the buildings.), read anything of Marvel's that deals with 'evil' heroes taking over the Earth.

Hell if you get down to it, it's far more similar to Marvel's Exiles story line 'With an Iron Fist' in which Tony Stark takes over the world than it is to going Rogue.

    Well it sort of does.

Kinda like saying Lord of the Rings, rips off World of Warcraft.

Or that Warhammer rips off Warcraft.

    Death penalty

We are fine with what we have, it suits the genre of inspiration more.

Obviously Emperor Cole doesn't want magic in his world so it makes sense that the Carnies would be a part of the resistance.

To counter them perhaps we could intro more of Infernals race in Praetoria since they are Demon binders and deal with the black magic that surrounds them.. Hey we never see him but we do know from Maria's Arc that there is a Praetoirian version of Infernal so adding a group of villains comprised of Demons and Spectral Ghosts (shudders) isn't out of the question. They wouldn't be Cole's favorite allies by any means but what better way to fight the magic of the COL than with your own dark magic allies?
It's possible that the Carnival of Light doesn't exist while our characters are in Preatoria, that the group doesn't form until our characters are 20+ and time line wise in Primal Earth.

Both Infernals come from a medieval like alternative Earth, but each comes from their own version of that world.

Heck in City of heroes there are shops that sell cybernetic upgrades all over the place.

    Dr Who 23/04/11

Anyone else disappointed by this episode?

A new series of Dr Who and no aliens at all, just some creepy little girl and president Nixon?
  23. Awesometastic Girl, didn't need to be told twice, she ejects from the vehicle in a rather graceless scurry, dashing bent low towards the nearest manhole cover, which would 'prang' up into the air, lifted by a sudden burst of solid illusions, falling with a loud 'clang' as she slides into the safety of the sewer system.

Ladies and gentlemen, comrades and soon to be subjected peons, it is I your destined Glorious Leader, Baron Eternity. Now available for your reading pleasure on the internet, my daughter finally convincing me that print is a dead format (though perhaps when I rule, I shall perform necromancy on it, there is so much pleasure to have with a book and a hot bath).

To announce my return to the world, my daughter and I played a little game, well not so little if you consider the play area and the sheer scale of the playing pieces involved. A rather simple game in which we would name a tourist spot, one after each other, the following location starting with the last letter of the previous location and ending with a different letter of its own. So starting with A for purely alphabetical reasons we had the Atlas Statue, followed by the Edison Museum which in turn was followed by the Monte Carlo Casino, I won’t bother with reciting them all, after all the information made the news I’m sure you could just Wikipedia it if you are that desperate to know the list.

The key playing piece to our game is the ‘Invisodrive Mark Five Satellite’ or as my daughter has taken to dubbing it the ‘Perve ray’ at this point I would like to point out that the nudity the ray causes is entirely an unexpected side effect to the rays original design, though I may make a smaller version for self defence uses , besides it may prove just the psychological edge needed to drive away a few of the more insidious ‘defenders of justice’

“Why Ms. Liberty, I had not expected to see you in the flesh!”

The game had practical purposes of course, the satellite is equipped with self teleportation abilities and thus our game became both a test run of the rays’ specifications and training in navigating the satellite to desired locations. With our experiment complete, we can begin preparations for the next stage of my frankly, brilliant plan.

Stay tuned dear followers to see what occurs next.
