Baron Eternity and Kid Eternity steal rocket! 29/07/2012
Reported all over Tunisian newspapers and evening news, reported less worldwide, however within agencies of a security nature, an orange alert is sounded.
At mid-day Tunisian time, a rocket used to launch satellites into position and deliver supplies to space stations was hi-jacked by Baron Eternity and what is presumed to be his new sidekick Kid Eternity. The replaced the cargo on the rocket with something, as well as the pilots with several robot drones, using other mechanical machines of malicious menace to hold off the Tunisian forces and local hero The Mighty Lion before the rocket launched carrying its altered cargo list. -
EA are bad, Activision are worse. Ncsoft ain't exactly angels either.

Marvel and DC had a cross over, each universe/company had a personification, I belive they were called the Brothers.

Today various papers world wide.
While it is reported, she was not famous enough to grab a full front page to herself, so it appears in the smaller news, though one colluminist in a paragon newspaper devotes her collum to coverign the story, talking about how privillaged she was to have been saved during the Mot events by the deceased princess of the Hades Empite Tomb, and the withdrawl of her people from contact Primal. -

On TV, and of course if anyone was up and looking at the moon during the time, the white lunar beauty would of turned a pinkish colour of Caucasian flesh, the craters that make up man in the moon (or lunar bunny) becoming an agonised face, that screams in inhuman agony.
Two minutes later the moon once more hangs silent and white in the sky.
Various Newspapers on the same time line as Paragon, others have a different time stated. 12/07/2012
Scientists baffled!
Last night something beyond words occurred, but still this newspaper will try to describe what you no doubt witnessed yourself. The moon our ever silent night time guardian transformed for a period of two minutes at midnight, into what can only be described as a horrific globule of greasy screaming flesh.
While we did not actually hear the scream here in the city, we have been informed that in Paragon City an unearthly wail was heard during the time of the moon’s transformation. -

Quote:Yes it is working as intended.I took my toon from Hero, to vig, villain, rogue and back to hero for the easier path to get the Eye of the Magus accolade, a respec and Mace Mastery.
Now, I just finished my hero morality, and No 50 reward merits, and no hero merit. Is this WAI?
The first time you reconfirm or switch to a full alignment you get 50 reward merits, which just happens to be the amount you can trade in for a hero/villain merit. -
If they start offering incarnate style level shifts on the market, I think that will be a bridge too far.

I'd actually like a side by side comparassion of free versus paid for costumes, because if its following the same standard as powersets then...
Staff, Titan Weapon, Beam Rifle, Beast, and Street justice, vs Time manip and dark control.... doesn't really seem to add up. -
Quote:So...
If the costume bits and ultra super rare item (black wolf pet) were, instead, craftable recipes that *could*- drop more than once
- require salvage to craft
- be traded or sold in the auction house
- possibly require more superpacks than 30 to acquirea full costume set
Then would this sit better with the entire player base? It's a compromise.
They could do it how CO do their super packs?
The costumes are actually an item, you right click it you bind it to your account and unlock the costume piece, alternativly you can sell the piece on the market, trade with other players for a piece you do want.
Rather than it be "Did you get what you want? No, buy another pack." repeated until you get lucky. -
Quote:Wow, this thread got volatile fast. One thing that keeps popping up is the gambling aspect. I don't see the packs as gambling as in Vegas style, so much as buying a pack of baseball, Magic, Pokemon etc cards.
Key difference being, buying a pack of TCG cards, gives you a physical item that you actually own, and thus can then sell the ones you don't want, or trade with other people for the ones you want.
Hell you can even avoid buying a pack and just purchase the individual cards you want either from the store or from an auction type place.
Sure with the supergamble packs, you can trade the ATE's but that is it. All the other crap that apparantly makes the packs worthwhile, you're stuck with. -
Quote:Not quite the same thing, maybe in a few years we will have the correct version which is.I hate to tell you this, but some guy was born with athletic talent and was 6' 6" in high school. He made the team with no real effort on his part thanks to his genetics. He got the letter and it meant nothing to him. High school football was a given, he was disappointed that he did not get into pro football.
It meant something to you because you worked hard for it. The fact that others did not have to work hard for it didn't change what it meant to you. Maybe you just ignored that fact, or maybe you didn't realize that others did not have to work for it.
You work hard like a dog, training yourself, you miss out on the parties and the fun stuff, dedicating yourself to your sport/proffesion whatever.
Then some guy just buys a bunch of cyborg upgrades and he's better than you, at whatever you do. -
Quote:Question for you:
If you could take a tactical nuke to the face and walk away without a scratch.....how cautious would you be when confronting someone like Darrin Wade?
He had no reason to believe there was a chance in hell Wade could do anything to hurt him. If anything, his own overconfidence in his invincibility is what got him killed.
Very cautious? The guys a magic guy after all, I mean yeah if it had been with a magic gun with an instant death cursed bullet, then yeah I can see the whole, tanking it, oh dear I'm dead, angle working. -
Quote:Well, that doesn't change the 'gambling' one bit.
That's an argument about "exclusivity"-- totally unrelated. Drop the "gambling" distraction and focus on the nature of exclusive, non-transferable content, if that's the issue.
Oh but the gambling is part of it.
The only way to get the costumes, 'exclusivly' is to gamble.
There is no purchase the costume parts from the store, or from the CH, you want the costume pack you have to gamble for it. There is no alternative, you either gamble or you don't have them. -
Quote:Well 'unobtainable' apart from craig list, ebay, post lucky bag swap meet? But people do. Palladium (the company that does RIFTS P&P RPG) used to do a (exact numbers may be different but this was the sense of it) "you give us $15, we give you $20 worth of random goodies" some of which could be unobtainable otherwise as a Christmas promo every year and they were always oversubscribed.
People forget when they defend these packs, with the whole 'Magic/Yuigioh is gambling too lololol' counter, that I can purchase the exact cards I want through other means, since it is a physical product. -
Kind of glad my sub runs out next month.
Paragon you've fallen so far. -

I don't think NCSoft is attempting to make sure I am the only person that gets to play with my names until I die, I think NCSoft is attempting to make sure no confusion arises between two different character names and all other players that could confuse the two.
Nah it's a legacy issue due to the game launching with out the global system. Since the only unique identifer was a characters name, you couldn't have two characters of the same name in the server database. -
Quote:"At some point" doesn't mean anything near "soon", though.
And frankly, CoH's playerbase right now, much less years in the future when there are so few of us that we don't even cover the cost of keeping the servers turned on, doesn't seem like a large enough demographic to mold their whole strategy around targeting us.
That was before the Avengers made a load of money.
Super heroes will be 'in' for another few years, at least in marketers minds. -
Quote:Since some of the job postings have referred to it as "an exciting new IP" that would tend to make me think it is not CoH2. The term "NextGen MMO" used in some of the postings could be inferred to mean CoH2, but that's not a new IP.
So if it's a Super hero MMO, but uses a different series of names, it's not CoH2?
Despite having the same design team, artists and the like behind it?
Or could it easily be called a spirtual sequal aka 'Coh 2'? -
Quote:We'll have to disagree on the character creator because I happen to love the CO one. The DCUO one I can see how it is hindered by its 'also on console' status, but at least allows the player to make a sidekick character that doesn't appear to have ingested a load of bovine growth hormones. That other game had so many of it's own issues, and non-unique names were one of them. In my breif tenure there I saw so much greaifing over names. There were the release day nerfs to everything, the disjointed gameplay, the mechanics that discouraged teaming, the absolutely awful character creator. About the only thing I saw over there that I would have liked to have seen there, yet doubt ever will, was the Nemesis system.
I played CO at launch, and still play it on and off now, I have never seen name griefing, possibly because all you need to do is hover over a name to see the global, even if you turn auto display of said names off.
I have however seen name griefing in CoH, especially when it was announced that we'd be getting a server list merge, especially of EU players mains ¬_¬
DCUO though, was a great single player superhero game, but was not designed as a good MMO, seeing as it failed to even allow you to chat correctly, with a censor system that hit game areas and missions. -
Quote:So what would it be?You're assumption is that it is CoH2. My assumption is that we have no clue what the project is, and it could be completely unrelated to the CoH IP.
Another fantasy MMO in an already over glutted market?
A sci-fi MMO? Toxic to NCSoft after Tabula Rasa?
Or is it going to be another Superhero MMO, something the devs know, even if they don't actually call it City of heroes two?
You know in the same way that ICO has the sequal Shadow of the collosus, despite them not being the same IP? -
