I would absolutely love it if the devs would add some variety to the holiday event missions, so we're not just doing the same old Snaptooth stuff over and over again.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even with NCSoft's increased staffing, there just so much content they can work on. If they had a programmer, writer, animator, artist, and a product manager working on Valentines Day Event 2.0, then those people aren't working on the next Issue. Although I wouldn't say no to a new holiday event, I'd much rather the developers work on something that I can play with year-round.
Besides, I have plenty of toons created since last February last need these badges.

Of Course the GMOTD message popped up exactly when I was fighting 3 EBS (Final Agent G mission)
[/ QUOTE ]
If you were fighting the three EBs in that mission you were doing it wrong.

I'm feeling a little poorly today... *koff* koff* Downright ill in fact. I might have to leave *koff* work a little early today and work on my shield tanker.
I'm looking forward to trying out all the new features -- including the new PvP stuff. Contrary to what some have said, it sounds like it will make the experience much better for most of us -- fewer PVPFOTM builds dominating the PVP zones.
Actually, the only downside to this issue I can suss out is that I'll have to log in all my alts tonight and move them to their appropriate Day Job locations before I can start playing my new tank!

My main toon isn't in a super group -- he's the anti-social type that want to lurk in his own bat cave, fortress of solitude, whatever.
How about a way to let individuals make their own one-person bases? Oh yeah, in list form:
<ul type="square">[*]one-person bases[*]everything else above[/list]

I'm very sorry to see you go Lighthouse. I had the pleasure of meeting you IRL three times and you always were a very classy, very genuine guy.
May our paths cross again some day...

This for the Dropship Server Challenge I presume. Count me in! I've always wanted to drop a dropship...

This is what i want to know. A friend of mine plays COH in her Mac through Bootcamp and she's dealing with crash issues. Will she have to rebuy the game to get the Mac version or can she just download the mac client from her account page?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry to hear about your friend's crash issue. My guess (and only a guess) is that there will be a fee -- otherwise how would TransGaming Inc., the people who did the port, get paid for their work?
-Bux -
Awesome! I recently bought a shiny new MacBook Pro and made it dual boot (via BootCamp) for the sole reason of playing COH. Now I won't have to use Vista anymore! Huzzah!
I get to not use Vista AND you'll give me new costume parts?! I'm so there.
Beta invitation already set.

I think the it's the posters way of saying he would like an option to turn xp-off. I certainly know there are times until about level 20 Red Side and 30 Blue Side where I would love to have been able to turn off my xp gain.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, there's no way to turn XP off exactly, but there is a fairly easy way to cut your XP gain in half. You get to work on some badges at the same time too!
Now if only Ouroboros would let me go back and do the Safeguard/Mayhem missions I've missed...
In any case, I'm looking forward to the new stuff and I'm quite sure there's going to be more in the new publish that we haven't heard about yet. Be patient!

Nice guide -- just what I needed! Thanks.

Is there any way to change the AFK timeout in missions/bases from unlimited to an hour or so? It would reduce the number of people camping out when they are not playing, making room for more active players.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pushing out a last-minute, not to mention untested, code change just before a Double XP weekend would probably be a Bad idea(TM).

For the record, I would delete every mission of the form "go talk to X about zone Y" and replace them with emails from signature heroes or Detectives sent when the character trains the appropriate level.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like that idea. There's no reason (well, outside of programming time) that the existing email system couldn't be used for both player-to-player emails and signature hero/contact-to-player emails from time to time.
For example, wouldn't it be cool to get an email from Statesman shortly after training up to level 40 asking me to go investigate what's going on in the Shadow Shard?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new Hollows. The Hollows used to be an area that caused me no end of frustration as it generally took two tries (at least!) to successfully make the long run to a mission door. I've long since figured out what I need to do to avoid the swarms of bad guys (most of the time anyway!) but why put new players through that? Frustrated players often become former players and that does no one here any good...

We know that finding out about this change after the patch is already live is not the ideal way to go about it. It was never our intent to hide or stealth this change out, it was simply lost in the volume of other changes spanning many months.
[/ QUOTE ]
This part I am not buying even for a second. It has happened way too much since the begining of the game, [...] a pretty huge change that we should have known about [...]there is absolutely no excuse that something this big gets missed [...] You guys need to do better because this is inexcuseable [...]
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoa. Someone needs to take a stress pill and/or switch to decaf...
Sure, it's unfortunate that a somewhat (but not very) important detail was left out of the initial patch notes, but the problem was rectified within days. What's the problem?
Seems like some people are just plain looking for something to complain about. Take a deep breath. Relax. Walk around the block. Come back, and enjoy the game.

Anyone know if the "Toy Collector" badge is available this year? As I recall, it was granted for opening 200 presents last Winter Event.
-Buxley -
Yep. I purposely played "stoopidly" last night since I knew that the Debt would be gone in the morning. Now my main toon, who I wanted to advance this morning, has a ton of Debt.
Swell.

Lets just say they leave it where everything is on by default and every toon in the game is put online. By just browsing the site by server name they got everyone they could possibly spam on that server on a list now, they just take those and spam email like no tomorrow. That would be a hell of alot more people to spam because even the people who do /hide would be seen as well, not only that they could get everyone who has been online for the past 90 days. You cant tell me that doesnt concern you even the slightest?
[/ QUOTE ]
No it doesn't, and I'll tell you why: the spammers already have all the information they need to spam us. The spammers have been around since the Inventions System went live making lists of people with /find and making note of toons as they take the ferries/trains. They already have your toons' names.
If I *was* worried, I'd just disable the options before this goes live for my active characters. That's why the Devs gave us a heads up on this well before the new stuff appears on the web site.
I'm looking forward to being able to show off my list of badges and (I hope) browse other players' character costumes and bios. That will be fun!

For reference, I have brought my two sons to this Dave & Busters since they were less than ten years old. I don't know what all this fuss is about -- the place is an arcade and a attached restaurant. Like many restaurants, they serve alcohol. I've never run into any problems there and, like most arcades, there are a ton of kids wandering around.

....Does anyone else see how unfair this is ? I'm seriously feeling unappreciated here..
A thought grossed my mind, of giving everyone who owns both games, a free month of game play.. but I can see where that might be.. expensive on your end..
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I understand your point, even if I don't agree with it. (And understand, I'm in the same situation you are in.)
For spending the money on both CoH and CoV a year or more ago you gained the advantage of being able to play the FULL game for the past year (or more). In addition, you were already given a free month of game play when you added CoV to your CoH subscription.

My concern is that it'll turn into SWG all over again.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am an optimist on this score. The industry saw the player reaction to the shenanigans with SWG and I hope that something was learned.
Also, my personal opinion is that if anything, CoX will not get that kind of changes, but will be used as a cash cow to set up the rest of the franchise - whether this is MMO/single player games in different styles or even a sequel, where they go to town with crazy ideas good and bad.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree 100% with spidermonster on this. Statesman left CoX over a year ago to help develop Marvell Online. Everyone else who has been working on CoX for the last (awesome) year is moving with the game to the new studio. Even grumpy, yet lovable BAB...
Any similarity between this news and SWG's "New Game Enhancement" debacle is, well, I just am not seeing it.
Cautiously optimistic...
