  1. I'm in, I'll bring Nucleopatra, my sig enshrined rad/rad for that.
  2. I should be able to make this one too, yesterday's was great fun
Dunno if I'll get Ultrasonic to 30 in time, but I have Seung Yin (h34l0Rz0r) and Uma (Katana/regen scrapper) who are both in the range.

I daresay there'll be a few other (fully deniable) members of No Such Agency along too.
  3. This is cobbled together out of bits I've written over the months and I've edited it down to stop it getting too massive. I was gonna post it on the General Discussion thread about our characters' bios but when I saw the preview I thought it'd be better here where longer posts are more at home

    Burning Fist's Backstory

As the Qinghai Plateau rises to meet the Great Himalayas there nestles the remote and little known Green Mountain Pass, a timeless pocket of tranquility undisturbed by war, revolution and interdimensional alien invasion. At the head of Green Mountain Pass stands the Wu-Kong Temple where the 108 Disciples of Xuanzang have peacefully practiced meditation, studied scriptures and trained in the 36 Martial Techniques of Huiyang for over a thousand years. That peace was shattered the day the Tsoo warlord Steel Typhoon arrived with his tattooed bandit army.

The first the monks of Wu-Kong knew of his arrival was when farmers and villagers from up and down Green Mountain Pass came seeking refuge in the Temple with stories of slaughter and demons running amok in the night. The next they knew was when Steel Typhoon had silently and mysteriously laid seige to the Temple.

Throughout the next twelve nights the Tsoo army assaulted the Temple and although many defenders were killed or wounded and parts of the Temple were all but destroyed, they were held at bay. The days within the Temple were spent tending the wounded, fortifying the gates and courtyards and planning the next night's defence. As the siege and attacks wore on however, the monks came to realise that it was only a matter of time before they were overwhelmed and defeated. And then what? Who could say…

On the thirteenth day Abbot Fei's most accomplished student, Lai Pang-Xiang, decided upon a desperate course of action. Picking six of the best practitioners of the Martial Techniques, he slipped out of the Temple and infiltrated the Tsoo encampment. Once inside they, began causing mayhem among the unprepared Tsoo. They burnt their rice, they scattered their oxen, they destroyed carts and spiked their cannons, but it wasn’t long before Steel Typhoon's men had them on the defensive and the seven monks had to fight for their lives and those of everyone in the Wu-Kong Temple.

Eventually, in the evening, Lai Pang-Xiang and his two surviving comrades were caught, surrounded on all sides by Tsoo bandits. There was no escape, there were even Tsoo bowmen atop the tent frames and underneath the last few carts that had remained intact. Even had their been a way out it was unlikely the three exhausted, bloodied and beaten men would've been able to get very far.

The three of them stood back to back, moving round so each could see what they were facing in the circle of Tsoo fighters around them. There was movement, the Tsoo parted and Steel Typhoon strode into the circle. He stared at the three monks for a few moments then threw back his head and laughed.

And then, as the last rays of sunlight disappeared behind the distant Himalayas, a great cry rose up from the direction of the Wu-Kong Temple. It was impossible for Steel Typhoon to comprehend but a column was charging down the Temple road onto his encampment. He could see the Wu-Kong banner fluttering in the torchlight carried by the men and he could see thirty, maybe forty monks and a hundred villagers and farmers all ready to fight against him.

The battle didn't last very long, the Tsoo were already in disarray following Lai Pang-Xiang's audacious raid and they were entirely unprepared to be attacked by the people who they expected to wipe out this very night. At some point during the battle, Steel Typhoon and a dozen of his men escaped on horseback and, by morning, the Tsoo threat to Green Mountain Pass was over.

Although Steel Typhoon had been defeated, the victory was a bitter one. Eighteen of the Disciples of Xuanzang who had remained inside the Temple during the attack were dead, killed by an assassin who could scale sheer walls, strike within locked chambers and kill unseen in crowded rooms. The deaths were sad but the karma of each victim would bring them back to the Wu-Kong Temple in their next life as it had in many lifetimes before. However, each of the dead had acquired wisdom which would take lifetimes for them to relearn in such a way as could be taught. This was the true loss, and the choice of targets was impeccable.

Whoever the assassin was, his knowledge and subtlety was such that it was impossible he could be a subordinate of the brutish Steel Typhoon. It was more likely that Steel Typhoon was in his pay to provide strength for the assassin's fiendish plot. Although the Temple had been saved the assassin had still been partially successful.

Among the assassin's victims was Abbot Fei, Lai Pang-Xiang's master and friend. Realising that his karma lay with finding Steel Typhoon and the mystical assassin, Lai Pang-Xiang took the name Burning Fist and left the Wu-Kong Temple to fulfill it. He tracked Steel Typhoon down to Paragon City where he had become a crime lord among the Tsoo crime clans there.

Over the course of many adventures, Burning Fist finally vanquished Steel Typhoon. He also discovered that his master's killer was called Cao Qin and, through meditation and contact with the bodhisattva Seung Yin, found out that he was a hero from the Hell of Hungry Ghosts come to the human realm to destroy wisdom and spread misery, hate and discord. Burning Fist eventually found him but, after an epic battle across the rooftops of Peregrine Island, Cao Qin managed to escape from this world through one of Portal Corporation's interdimensional portals. With an infinite number of places he could’ve fled to and no way of following, Burning Fist had to be satisfied with banishing Cao Qin from this world.

Although in his heart Burning Fist longs to return to the simple tranquility of Green Mountain Pass he knows that, for now, Paragon City needs him more than the Wu-Kong Temple does. He also knows that one day, in this lifetime or the next, he'll return to the Temple and help repair what Cao Qin and Steel Typhoon had almost destroyed.

Until that day, Burning Fist, aka Lai Pang-Xiang, Hero of the Wu-Kong Temple and Master of the 36 Martial Techniques of Huiyang will be watching over the good people of Paragon City.

just gonna hijack the post a sec and ask is the cone on SoC very wide?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's quite wide, there's no problem getting a whole spawn inside it.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Whoa! Hold on there! You gotta get Radiation Infection! It's possibly the best power in the entire set! Fit it with 3 tohit debuffs, an endredux or two as well and you're well away.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you've got Stamina you could slot 3 tohit debuffs and 3 def debuffs. I've slotted Mistress Distress that way and it seems sustainable and very unpleasant for those effected.
  6. As the title would suggest, Pink Pixie and Princess Yakuza both hit the big 50 tonight, albeit not in the most glamourous of settings it being in the sewers and all. But 50 is 50 and they dinged it, so a big old GRATZ to the both of em!

Hime (Crazy 88 mask) & Pix (antennae) not with members of No Such Agency

    Nice going guys
  7. I'm an incurable altaholic but I do try to give my characters a bit of background.

    Burning Fist - about 30
Nucleopatra - knocking on for 3500, she's the mutant radioactive zombie of an ancient Egyptian queen
Seung Yin - as old as the sky, as young as the first butterfly of summer
Slave Alpha - around 220 but he's a robot from the 31st century so I'm not sure how that works

Cao Qin - eons in human terms
    Ultrasonic/Ubersonic - Mid-20s
Projekt Siegfried - technically about 60, or about 25 if you don't count suspended animation
    The Kandarian - infinity
  8. Giant size gratz to the kitten with the Kheldian!

So what's next, a warshade, a new AT or are you planning on committing yourself to evil full-time in the Rogue Isles?
  9. Yep, nice going Electrify Big Gratz and thanks for all the heals!

Excellent job on dinging on a clockwork minion after your careful plan to bag 50 on Psychic Babbage

Cobra Strike is one of those things I'm split over - I rarely use it for PvE, and I'm not sure of it's PvP usefulness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very good in PvE although doesn't hold LTs long and doesn't seem to / rarely affects bosses. Not much PvP experience but I have seen it work - not for long though.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you use Cobra Strike as your first attack on a boss then follow with Eagle's Claw you'll get a disorient pretty often. Basically you have to land two effects (disorients, holds, immobs, etc) to get them to work on a boss.

In PvP disorients don't last long and can be hard to land, but when they work they drop your opponent's toggles usually leaving them very vulnerable to your big hits. The short disorient can give you enough to time to land an Eagle's Claw for big damage and another possible disorient.
  11. Cobra Strike is always nice IMO. The disorient is a nice bit of melee control that's handy in PvE and PvP. I've got that slotted for Acc and Recharge and it's usually available when I need it.

I went for Weapon Mastery for my epic on the principle that it suited my character, but caltrops are always nice and shuriken is pretty cool for taking down runners at a distance. Exploding shuriken is a bit rubbish though, had to respec that out.
  12. After all the teams you've led with your rod of iron (or rather slick of ice) and spanks of kinetic goodness it's about time you got there
Well done and big fat gratz on the big fat 50! No more debt for you

    PvP Moments!!!

i not think Gimpman or most of the CoH players that are on the other side are any kind of "noobs" as u like to call em.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Given that CoV has only been out for a few weeks, most villains are still noobs compared to heroes who have been played for months.

That'll change though, not only as villains level (and get access to levels 41+) but also as they get used to the ATs and powersets, and solid, regular PvP teams start to form. Before too long, defeating villains will mean something.

Until then, heroes should make the most of it and villains should be patient.
  14. The title says it all!

Fireblossom, blaster extraordinaire and political exile from the land of Faerie dinged 50 tonight! After some spectacular runs of faceplanting and an occasional kamikaze attitude that would make any scrapper wince it's a miracle you managed to break 30

    Congratulations and well done
  15. Do you seriously see any real aggression here? Do you really think that anyone bantering here would rather punch the other guy than go for a beer and a laugh with them?

As for the playful banter here causing psychological damage to youngsters, I once made the mistake of subscribing to a CounterStrike forum that was populated largely by teenagers and I'm still traumatised by the experience today.

I think you guys are taking these "[censored] contests" far too seriously. Here it's a lot friendlier than the "rofl u wtfpwnt lolLOLLolloloLz!!!! omg u teh n00b!" that youngsters get up to under their own steam.

It isn't completely harmless and it does need my comentary.

It's just smack talk and part of the fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And exactly the reason I don't play PvP games...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it's not a reason to avoid PvP games, it's a reason to avoid people who enjoy them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    See, fun isn't it?
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Why is it almost every thread in this forum has to turn into a [censored] contest?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's just smack talk and part of the fun.

Just think of it as a RL variation on the "I will destroy you puny heroes!", "Not while I have my strength, evil miscreant!" type dialogues from the comics
  19. [ QUOTE ]
cmon lets face it no AT is as fun to use as a blaster.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Now that's just crazy talk.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Great Power sets, with lots of damage, shields, regeneration and STEALTH! What else can you possibly need!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Style, class and most importantly looking really good in a fight. I am afraid DM/DA fails on all those points.

Even if it didn't, its claimed uberness only means that it takes less skill to play effectively than Martial Arts. The weakest warrior is the one with the strongest weapon.

Q49: Can I PvP in bases without Items of Power?
A49: You can challenge another SG to an "instant raid", or be challenged by another SG, even if neither of you have Items of Power. Instant raiding functions much the same as a normal raid, except it can occur at any time, the defending SG must allow it to happen, and nothing actually changes hands or is permanently destroyed as a result of the raid.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I found this in the Bases FAQ on the US forums (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...art=1&vc=1)

It sounded like it might be a useful feature for you guys in your quest for RP friendly PvP opportunities.

BS ALWAYS FTW! Broadsword is totally fab, simply because even when an enemy has high smashing or lethal Dam Res we can still do alot of damage. I also love it when a Behemoth Overlord uses healing flames, but you still take them down with one Head Splitter! Seriously, anyone that's unsure of which scrapper primary to take simply MUST go for Broadsword!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Broadsword lacks style and [brucelee]emotional content[/brucelee].
