  1. A slightly different take... more linear, more modern...

  2. So, without further delay (if any delay) heres a new battle ready, nanite active, ready to go all cybernetic on your butt, glowey outfit, and one thats more mild mannered, everyday citizen of Praetoria look. I guess you can choose which is which!

  3. I almost forgot to put this up!

heres my new spin on some of the simple classic non armoured or bulky look of Airwalker

  4. The fun part of this is just making costumes. I always digged that about this game. The other fun part is trying to see through whoever is judgings eyes...

And I seemingly cant. (Not even his take on MINE, but others more so)

Its all good though, I can take criticism. But man, its funny to read reviews that are so... well, all over the place. Its hard to understand fully, and kudos to you all who do this, its all for fun. Thats why I do it, who cares about winning...

But I mean seriously... its like one thing for one and not the other, or this one works with an exception, but I wont make that same exact exception for others... Just wraps all the judging up to a very small box of personal likes only, not taking into account pretty much anything else. Love how using the mutant pack is a no no, but in this thread, it wasnt mentioned he didnt have it. Hell, between the first time he tried to have others remake him and no one cared, to now, he could have gotten it. If our hands are tied to not using certain things.. perhaps we should know ahead of time.

    Blah.

Anywho, gratz to whoever's costume wasnt in the most undesirable category based on some predetermined facets that we never knew about ahead of time. The day is yours!

I humbly await another challenge, as I still like the making the costume part regardless of anything else. Just please let me know some expectations or restrictions ahead of time. That'd be super cool.

(And no, this isnt a "sour grapes" post... I could seriously care if I ever win. Its not about me, just in general really. But its part of the whole sha-bang, so I deal. Perhaps my next entry will be in rainbow... just for fun
  5. OK, so I did some digging and found some more info on what you were looking for (some other thread about this character) So I present to you 2 different designs, based on what you've said, adn what I imply.

I really wanted to keep some of the already set in place features you have, ie. Main colors and highlight colors, but also expand on them to make more of an impact.

First if the Light armor version akin to the likes of Batman.
In your bio I read that your eyes glow like a Lich's, so I wanted to pick up on that. I kept the overall feel of your first screenshot, with upgrades. I dig the new sports boots and gloves too, so I kept them as well. He has a few shades of grey along with splashes of black and the overall accent of gold. You are mystical, and evolving. Like your bio says, as you learn and grow, using such dark magic start to take away from you, it changes you. You are becoming something else, not bad, but something different from who you were when you first started. This is the "I attack from the shadows" look that lets you take some hits, but still deliver the Dark Nasty on those who stand in your way.

Next look is the more public face of Shadeknight. I played with the idea of using aura's for eyes, but more and more I liked the glowing eyes from the Mutant pack. The face lines usually bother me, but again, you are changing, it is overcoming you, you are developing and gaining strength, but at what price? You also mentioned the idea of Batman meets Dr. Strange. So I wanted to keep the cape, but add some armor and a look of change. So I dropped the full length cape for the tattered ones, which opens up the back to see alot of detail from the roman armor underneath. You are dressed, still, in white and black, but covered in Black and gold. I went with the new baggy Resistence pants for a little flair, but heavily covered it up for more impact. I kept the hood as perhaps you are not quite yet coming to terms with your dark transformation, and you want to cover up a bit, and it ties in with the other costume I gave you, hinting towards a connection, and not a total dissconnect. (Thats right, they were meant to work together!) So, here's front and back of the more iconic look, in armor, to fight off the Circle of Thorns or slay demons in...

SO yeah, there ya have it. I also think that describing my thoughts was much better for the fire breathing critiques of Naz (jk!) instead of just laying them out there for any and all interpritation.

I avoided going too light on the first look, hence the need for the black to truely show off the darker greys. Combat ready, padded up but flexible, dark face that scares the be-jebus out of the bad guys. Also, thats Exoproto on top and Valk on the bottom. Second look has more razzle dazzle without it becoming garish and overdone. Used Justice top and resistence bottoms for the leathered worked looks they give off. Note that there is a difference in the golds between the two. I used a bit darker on the top outfit so it wasnt glowing, and the bottom one went one up brighter since it has white to play off from.

Still stayed in your black, white, grey, and gold color pallete but changed them around drastically. I hope you enjoy!

edit: After I posted I went and looked again at your originals... and your accent is a bit more on the bronze side than I first remembered as I made these... ahhh, distractions, gotta lvoe em while you make costumes! Anyway, if you'd like me to change that, I could... or if the main idea is there and you like the gold, well awesomesause.
I just noticed it... my bad if you werent a fan of the gold.
  6. Well done all!
Never having done your contests before Naz, I must say I like the criticisms on the stuff instead of no word at all. Very interesting takes nonetheless.

Quick Q about the next contest, the guest says he is looking for 2 things...
Does he want one or the other, or both?
Or all that wrapped up into one design?
    It was a bit misleading...
  7. Go for it!
Its your contest anyway, who are we to argue?
  8. Heres my take on it...
Not too bulky, not too flashy, but enough for one to look on in awe, as is intened...

  9. Old college football jersey number...

    87!

    Much obliged
  11. I thought I heard someone say that there was a couple new Aura's as well...

    Anyone have screenies?
Can't seem to Character Copy anyone to check it out...
  12. Bru_Tal

    Newest ART!

Very neat, and between you and me... I like the new Mardun "not yet released" look!
    Heh
  13. Could you give us a screenie of where he is know?
Just something for face/ hair/ build/ colors/ look kinda thing?

Would serve as a very good jumping off point.
  14. Why not another stab at it, variety is the spice of life!

Did a nice grey and orange, a color combo I have used on my own as well. Black accents in belt and boots. Fire aura on hands that compliments well with a nice red/orange color alteration on powers (action shot)

Light armor, battle ready, and those cool eye covers you had before were a very nice touch, thought they should be revisted. Worth saving those, they make the look (of the character) in my opinion. No need to stray so far away from the original when it was good to begin with.
Would hate for your years of hard work and reputation as a household name to be hindered by an outfit overhaul where no one recognizes you anymore!

    Enjoy!

(Note: I didnt even go through the tread yet until after I posted! I see there another by someone rather similiar, but very different when you look at the little nuances of it. Gloves, belt, boots, chest, mask, color... but still rather similiar. Wasnt aware! Great minds think alike?)
  15. If this was on redside, and had enough MM's, you could play!

    Zombies vs Robots!!
    Mercs vs Thugs!!

    What a showdown!
(Even have the MM themselves as a piece... female queen would fit the bill!)
  16. Here's a take on it, same costume (obviously), 2 poses...

I have never had a female character... so this is a first seeing what limitations there are in the costume sets. Very interesting.

I am sure I'll pop a few more up sooner than later.
    Enjoy!
  17. If asked, I would think chances are better for us to get a totally reworked system over allowing players to create the content for bases in general.

MA isnt aq good example to stand behind in terms of player created content.
Its not content so much as it is just a tool, nothing in it besides random (slightly determined) placing and text is unique (costumes/character creation dont fly with me either)...

But hey, would it be cool?
    Yeah
    Likely... I think not.

Again, playing to the minority will never get them more money. More costumes, mapsets, villianhero groups, content, zones... that gets people attention and plays the bills. Making 100 objects availible to a base... not so much.

And I'm one of you guys.
I'll get Jones'in for base making and only do THAT for 2 or 3 weeks.
I just recognize what the effort will always go towards.
And thats cool with me too.

But c'mon, reality has to set in on some of us sooner or later...
Or else we'll all be running around on rainbows and unicorns or 100 foot mechs within a week.
  18. But if a very large SG has say, 75 members, and you are using your "one floor per person, PLUS functioning floors" thats alot of "where the heck do I go to get from here to a TP so I can get to Atlas?" or "Was my base floor number 45 or 54?" plus lots of scrolling and hoping you are in the right place. Add your coalies to that list and entering a base just got alot harder to do...

(I re-read your post, were you saying upoin leaving the main base the list comes up?)

Why not have "personal homes" be a clickable door/ elevator placed in base that allows you to decorate a, say, 3x3 block? That way you always access the main base, and can then figure out where to place the "personal base" entrance WITHIN your base, therefore still keeping the main selection pages simple to use. Then go to the longer lists of personal bases while already IN your base, instead of getting into your base... follow?

Its a neat idea... but then the shear size of some SG's makes this become a very large load time, no?

Oh I know, I saw it there.
But by saying it was released as concept art yesterday (video was last week) I assumed (my fault) that it was up on the site somewhere outside of that post... and if it is, I cannot find it.

    That is all.

    Where was this released to?
I looked all over and didnt find it anywhere, unless my ignorance is getting the best of me.

I was wondering when we would see Noble, seeing as David alluded to such a reveal the othe day!

I just couldnt find anything about it anywhere but in this post!
  22. Ok, I understand the importance of having it, I myself have it, and for most reading this thread, in the SOA forums, I am sure we all know what it does and how it stacks. I am not denying that it helps. I am not saying that it shouold be skipped, but to kick someone from the team for NOT having it seems like an awful far stretch of what little power you have over others in the game.

I also think that we're starting to beat a dead horse here.
Some of you stick your guns about "they must have this" and give examples.
Others stick to thier guns about free choice and respecting the player to make good choices that they feel are good, not what you think should be good.

I dont think theres even a debate on the effectiveness of TT: M, just the attitude that one would be kicked for not having it.

So, the convincing can stop, I was convinced when I first researched VEATS. I understand its potential for solo and team play. I get it. I just dont get the attitude of powers over player... Gimp build on a great player shouldnt get him kicked. Great build on a poor player should...

It all goes back to the player, not the powers for me.

The essentials according to you, yeah.
Sounds like this guy would be able to stay on your team then, huh?
  24. And what if that guy who doesnt have TT:M contributes in other ways? Say he can rip down a pack of 6 by himself with build up : venom grenade : frag grenade : heavy burst... ?
But since he isnt giving YOU a bonus, he isnt good? He isnt contributing (even though he IS), or at least not YOUR way, so again, he's no good?

    Wheres the logic there?
    That kinda sounds... stupid.
Like ya said, cant fix stupid....
