The reason I'm asking for this is that I've burned myself out in a few occasions while doing a voluntary job that lost the fun but kept the work.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You quit after keeping a large community going for two and a half years...

Is asking people not to put you on a pedestal and judge your worthiness to be a mod by the same criteria as everyone else a negative comment?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes it is. While I agree with the sentiment (the Reason Prize is getting my vote is because I know him and how much he cares about the community) singling out someone and mentioning that their perceived popularity is for the wrong reasons is a negative comment and could very well be considered an attack.

What FFM should have done if he was so concerned about people’s perceptions during the vote is politely ask Prize to raise the point himself.

Prize on the other hand is wrong because he bit, it's not important, consider FFM a tosser and get on with it (I'm not saying that FFM is a tosser, just advocating a healthy attitude towards the problem).

On Leif Roar, he was nominated because he has shown unparalleled level headedness and impartiality, not to mention a good dose of humour. When I say unparalleled I really cant stress that enough. His main disadvantage is that he will not accept the position in all likelihood.

    - GGOOC. That's a chat channel created, moderated and operated by a select few. They (in this case ShadowGhost) created it and they do set the rules. Any rule, for any reason. It is a service that is provided for others. As regular channel users the rest of us can express our opinions but we hold no power whatsoever. And neither will we, unless the channel is set to public domain or mods otherwise allow people to have a role in governing the channel. Which is now taking place. GGOOC is not a democratic thing and the mods don't have to use nominations or some such. In that regard it is like it or sod off. Anyone who doesn't like the current system is free to set up a new channel for the same purpose and with different rules, if they like. I'm not saying that anyone should, just that that is the only way to affect the things as they are now. Personally I'm fine with GGOOC. It doesn't matter to me much who's moderating it. For me the current system works. Someone did the work, someone calls the shots. I'm along for the ride.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think Coile nailed it just fine. Personally I see no reason for mods in the channel, you have a problem with someone ask them nicely to tone it down, if they don't put them on ignore. Problem solved. Same thing goes with GG I guess. If there is found to be a need for mods I'll support the people that I have actually seen helping the community.
  4. I fully support Prize and Inago.

Prize especially deserves that position, I'ld also like to nominate though I doubt he would be interested Leif Roar.
  5. I don't think Recluse is the oposite of States but that's a long convo I have no interest in getting into.

For me the perfect bad guy is the antagonist who has actual merits. Examples are Magneto/X-men and Doc Doom/ Fantastic Four, mirror images and different versions of the same character I allways found corny.
  6. Hm... the new group might be promising, but I shouldn't be able to make the next meet.
  7. I am sort of anxious to start playing CoX again and probably some of the fondest memmory of CoH RP I have that did not involve the League of Vigilance was the RG.

Is the old RG guard willing to bring it back from the dead? If it is still around and sort of active (kind of zombielike) I would apreciate it if I was PMed some info about what's been going on with it.

    Teenage heroes

Catch and Rad where pretty close to being with us from the begining, Nyte and Demondim joined us very soon after.

Edit: Actually I think catch preceeded HV

    Teenage heroes

The temptation to bring back HV is big, but I hardly play CoH any more. I mostly support the game with my sub.

    Teenage heroes

OOCwise what I think happened with RG is that first we had Fusebox and that frosty teen who preceded wonkas Spearmint, then Pest popped in and pyro with Invy and I joined the bandwagon with High Voltage and pretty soon we had a lot of teenagers RPing in GG. Adults doing adult stuff made us hang out a bit to the side of GG, then we started hanging out in KR and while chatting on a rooftop there we decided to call the group RG.

    Man I miss RG.

High Voltage is still around, and I'ld love to actually play with him a bit. (no time)

I agree with Z and wonka, thanks for the compliment on the name but it makes no sense for another group to use RGs name.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I'm curious about how others view this sort of thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It really depends on how I'm using the character. If it was a character that I used in a public setting like GG or in a closed group like the old League of Vigilance I'ld probably keep the character as is.

When RPing in public it's far more important to be consistent with the world since it can confuse people otherwise.
  13. Both can survive I would hope.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I can think of several characters who would have no reason to visit (but the same could be said for standing around under GG).

    [/ QUOTE ]

A meeting at a social place makes more sense for most of my characters compared to meeting under a statue or in a park.

All in all big thumbs up for up for the new PDP and using it for RP even if it is used for game mechanics content like missions.
  15. For Funeral Pyre it was Killing in the Name of by rage against the machine.

For Shadowplay Hall of the Mountain King as performed by Apocalyptica

I could never fit a tune to High Voltage for some reason and I haven't RPed the rest of my characters to give much consideration there.
  16. I don't mind since I usually play with a character a bit before RPing him but that area is quite high level even if I find it perfect otherwise.
  17. Mostly I'm stuck at work... like now.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
It's easy, pretend your character just found a really good item, and then proceed to pretend you're selling it on ebay. =)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Not that kind of farmer
  19. Actually I wouldn't play a Rikti because I really don't have enough info on them.
  20. Till a couple of years ago I was very dead set on playing the same gender and orientation as myself. The reason was that I felt that I could not potray anything else very well.

Nowdays I play any gender or orientation but I'm still more prone to play bisexual or heterosexual males but that has to do with the fact that I enjoy such roles more.

I think the trick is to forget stereotypes and actually roleplay a character/personality and not their gender.

    [ QUOTE ]
    This always confuses me.

You can play a robot, a snake-being, a walking plant or a dormouse; but you can't play the opposing gender?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That makes perfect sense to me, fictional races and beings are just that, pure fiction, realism and believability do not enter play so easily.

It's easier for me to roleplay a Roharim warrior then a Chinese farmer.
  21. Shadowplay is 33 but he appears to be in his early twenties
    Funeral Pyre is 22
High Voltage is 16 (I miss RPing the kid)
Captain Brighteyes has been alive for 153 years
    The Shade Hound is 28
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Does Doc Ego still play the game atall?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, he is in one of the CoV SG I belong in, and he has a SG in CoV and CoH of his own.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I meant more that I didn't know any by name

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you might, they just slipped your mind.

Me for one, and Doc Ego for another example.
  24. ((Noooooo... warning us sooner would have been good... I'm working tommorow Oh well, best of luck and hope you all have a dastardly time ))
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Kind of a shame some of the 'older' roleplayers have left. Though Brighteyes is back and Aeronaut is still around. They'd give a different perspective than the GG crowd.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ooops, apologies. I was sleepy after work and posted in a rush, sorry RW I did not notice that part of your post, though I need to point out that my comment was targetted towards Silent edge.
