Less action under GG's skirt?

So, if the potential of the PDP is fullfilled when it goes onto live, is the regular meeting of RPers likely to be relocated to a place in which Heroes and Villains can co-exist in harmony? (Well, as much harmony as you'd expect at a RP-meet )

Just wondering really... well, that and the opportunity to give that name to this thread

PDP would be a nice place to go to once a week, but I wouldn't want to spend my whole time there...

We tried doing a roleplay scene at PDP once, Keeper. I think all concerned will tell you that it's really not a good place for it.

I think we'll use it maybe once a week and on an ad-hoc basis when we want to run hero-villain scenes.

I, for example, have a need to put 6 levels on my villain so I can give her some civilian clothes.

Right there with you, Birdy!

Although for me it's 18 levels...

Can someone explain me what is, practically speaking, PDP ?

I heard about it, only.

it is currently the paragon dance party, thouhg it is jsut about to get a refubishment and brcome Pocket-D.

basicly a night club based on a warehouse map, the new one is in a paocket Dimension, and very very cool; transparent floor, windows!! heroes and villians both can get in

PDP = Paragon Dance Party.

IC, it's a 'disco' in a parallel, pocket dimension (Pocket D) run by DJ Zero. On the hero side, there are doors leading to it in various city zones (they are changing, the new ones are in King, Founders and Talos).

OOC it's the only fully non-combat area without mobs in the game. And now it's a meeting place between heroes and villains.

That enough, or you need more detail?

Nope, if you check the poster it's still Paragon Dance Party, and it was always in Pocket-D. If you dig around you may be able to find the original Paragon Times article from when they added it.

Ok. What I suspected then. But never went there so I wasn't sure.

From my point of view :
- considering Diurne personnality, I don't imagine her going there on her own. So she will still go to GG.
- the place looks more "night clubbish", so will probably serve its purpose as such. Like people may occasionnaly gather in SG bases for a moment.
- the fact Villains and Heroes can/could enter the same zone, while interesting for interaction-plots, has little value by itself (to me). Diurne doesn't expect, doesn't want to meet Professor_Maleficum in a bar chatting with customers.
There I don't say Villains have no reasons to go there. I say there is little reasons (save plot as I said) to have a talk with someone you are theorically fighting against.
It may come from me but I have trouble to imagine saying "Hey, Lieutnant_Stormtrooper, how was your day at the Council base ? Still watching Vampyres spawning pools ?"
Of course, undercover villains/heroes have an easier time.
- So, PDP looks like a very nice place for people navigating in the "grey areas", from vigilantes to not_that_evil villains (mercenaries, rogues, etc), characters who could have a converging point of view on Paragon City and now a game feature to help them interacting.
- the other possibility is if you want to give a break to "heroing/villaining", switch to civvies/secret ID etc... and chat with "someone" who is indeed your costumed ennemy.
Still unlikely when thinking about Diurne.

(and thanks for answering)

Well, from my own point of view, I've had an alt of my villain toon turn up at GG. She's doing plot. With the new PDP I can actually have the real one turn up and, say, chat up Nevermore.

I'd also just love for Liz to meet Lilith, seeing as they both have a relationship of some variety with Jason. Unfortunately, Liz is likely to just try and cut her head off. That said, PDP is a no-fighting zone enforced by something not quite natural, so villains and heroes have no choice aside from talking or leaving once there.

yeah... you just know Dark could never last for more then 5 minutes before exploding from rage and storming out :P

No change there then...

@FloatingFatMan

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

It does really depend on the character as to how much they go. I mean some might go almost every day and others would want to stay away. Might lower some crowding issues at GG though.

We had an in-character team meeting last nights, and whilst character views of Pocket-D's were mixed I can tell you the out of character view was that it should be the place to roleplay because for once we can actually meet with Heroes (we're a Villain team by the way).

Most of our roleplaying happens in the base, usually near the TV but the directors office and the conference room are also popular, in St, Martial in the Casino (we have atleast two members with gambling habbits and one heavy drinker) or leaning against a wall somewhere. We tried visiting the Sawbone Club (a.k.a. Monkey Flight Club) but the place feels so deserted it just feels wrong.

There are going to be some issues. For a start its too loud and the music too repetative...if only they had a quiet room. Then there are several pointers to sugget that it is going to be the starting point for joint hero/villain missions or something (check the doors we cant get through jet, the medical reclaimators and the guards comments) so it might end up very much on the beaten track and we might have problems with griefers, and finally I can think of several characters who would have no reason to visit (but the same could be said for standing around under GG).

This is however the first thing that Devs appear to have done with a view to roleplayers. I suggest we use it and use it heavily so they know that roleplayer friendly content is appreciated and work on more

Now, that's actually a good point.

Having said that, all this talk of joint missions seems to suggest it isn't actually for roleplayers at all and when they do implement the rest of the stuff in there, we're going to have issues.

However, in the interim before they introduce the content (assuming there is an interim), it could be worth utilising it to demonstrate that a non-combat hero and villain zone would be a welcomed inclusion...

...not that they'd be too likely to take note of it on the Euro servers, though

A meeting at a social place makes more sense for most of my characters compared to meeting under a statue or in a park.

All in all big thumbs up for up for the new PDP and using it for RP even if it is used for game mechanics content like missions.

Both can survive I would hope.
