You know, I never got the feeling that you killed Ms Liberty. It always felt like you beat the tar out of her though.

Quote:My suggestion is wait for i22. See how that plays out. You don't care for iTrials, but do you like the incarnate abilities?Lately, I've been seriously considering going premium, as for what I want out of the game, it seems to be the best deal.
As a VIP, I gain access to (that I don't have already):
*Incarnate abilities
A couple of additional considerations I have for staying VIP is, the Loyalty Program. A Statesman's Helmet would be nice, and also, I need 3 more reward tokens to unlock the celestial armor.
-Or-
I go freemium
I use my banked points to unlock Time Manipulation and First Ward, and bam! I have everything I had previously, except incarnate abilities. As for slots, I've bought several of the years, and therefore have roughly 24 slots on Freedom, 17 slots on Virtue, and 10 or so on Justice for unlocks. That is waaay more than enough characters (not all, but plenty) to play for months, if not years.
So, I question myself, "Am I willing to pay $15 a month just for incarnate access and eventually celestial armor/Statesman's Helmet?" I don't especially enjoy iTrials, and seeing where the development on them is going, I expect to like the newer ones less and less. However, I would miss perma Clarion for squishies.
The points breakdown is another issue:
As a VIP: 550 points + Incarnates for $15 each month
or
As Freemium: each lot of 400 points is $5 (each month or as needed)
Simply, freemium is the waaay better deal when I consider how much I spend unlocking costume sets/powersets as they come out.
It's a tough question.
One other possibility: I could just pay $45 right now and get 3x more points than I would remaining VIP and unlock celestial armor 'right now'. Then, I would have plenty of banked points to last...forever, most likely.
Of course, this is my debate as a tier 9 veteran. If I didn't have permanent IO access and/or everything else unlocked for free, it would be a different set of considerations entirely.
If so, i22 is suppossed to give a solo path, and one worth waiting for and checking out. Though, I would suggest maybe laying out the 50 dollars (or purchase 15 dollars worth 3 times) to get the Celestial Armor slots unlocked before that time, because I believe that's when they go off the market. -
Hmmm...now I wonder. Batman is one of the top fighters in DCU, just not the top, but is he a better fighter than the amazons? This I now want to know!

Quote:Only those are suckie! While it's a nice idea I think this is the reason they added the weapon temp powers.
Not in the "suckie mechanics wise" but "suckie in how they look"
I don't want a revolver for instance. I want a Match Compensator!
Though I have thought, maybe what they should do is make "Weapon Judgement Powers"
Make a version of every weapon set, so it has a Judgement power equivalent.
Dual Pistols can have a more powerful Hail Of Bullets. Don't even need to change the animation.
Archery can have a more powerful Rain of Arrows.
Titan Weapons can have a more powerful Arc of Destruction (short animation).
Beam Rifle can have an all encompassing MEGA BLAST!
AR can have a bigger cone version of Full Auto, say 180 degrees!
Broadsword can have a more powerful Whirling Sword or something in the likeness of Whirling Smash.
Katana I'd say give a Vorpal Style Judgement to it, but with a sword instead of kicks.
Claws can have a PBAOE flipout and attack everything PBAOE! I'd make it just like Vorpal in the disappear and shadow clones appear and hit everyone style!
Mace and Axe can get something as well!
Now only would this allow weapon sets not be put into redraw mode if so desired for their judgement powers, this would allow people to tack on a weapon to their character concepts, even if it's just the one attack.
As someone who's wanted this for more than a few concepts, Id be willing to go with it. I don't need a lot of powers to obtain the Martial Arts + Dual Pistols concept that I want. I can easily make it work with Martial Arts + Awesome Judgement Ability, that lets me draw the pistols!
Same can go with the Dual Pistol user who needs the backup sword (or titan sword)...or the Fire Blaster who also comes equipped with a Katana! -
Quote:If we go with that, then every character who is genre savvy would also know, death means nothing, that even though Sister Psyche killed Malaise, he can just as easily return.Genre Savvy would like to have a word with you.
"I doubt that either of them died."
"We saw it this time."
"You saw it last time too."
"What's the old saying, 'Believe half of what you see...'"
"'...and none of which you hear.'" -
Quote:To quote NCIS...Right...
Player characters use their own bodies as a shield, taking everything Malaise threw at them and survived. Malaise is beaten.
- Malaise: "how could you beat me, heroes, it's an injustice, it is, it is..."
- Sister Psycho: "I gave you everything, you $#%&ing loser, and this is how you pay me back?! Never again!! You're finished, Jean! You hear me, finished!!!"
And then she kills him.
This is NOT self defense. A policeman is entitled to shoot back at a civilian trying to kill him. He is not entitled to empty his clip as the perp lies squirming on the ground just to make sure he's dead.
I'm not saying there aren't mitigating circumstances or that she should go to jail. I'm saying she has no business arresting bad guys until she realises how serious this is. Simply saying "I'm sorry, I lost control. It won't happen again," would clear her in my book. "Malaise had it coming," will not.
Gibbs to McGee as he aimed his weapon at the now subdued perp "McGee! If you wanted to kill him, you should of done it while he was running."
So the question is, if you want to apply real world laws to a comic book universe, would be, was Malaise sub dued yet? -
Quote:Still need the Dual Blunt Object Melee for those who've been waiting for Escrima Sticks.I'd agree with Peter, mostly because all the bases are pretty well covered now. The only other conceivable melee set I can think of that isn't directed at a tiny niche market would be "Psionic Melee."
I'm hoping we get some new MM powersets (and the four-legged rig they've put together certainly seems like it could be used for a Beast Tamer MM!), a tech-style control set, and perhaps finally some regular water control and blast sets in the next year. -
Quote:That's because other than having an awesome looking weapon skin in the Celestial Costume set, BR looks incredibly boring to playLol that's what I thought, especially hardcore scrapper fans 'THIS POWERSET IS NOT BALANCED IT'S DOING 10 DPS LESS THAN AVERAGE'.
But that also shows why melee sets sell so well, people love them, while if you go to the blaster forums and ask 'hey what's the best secondary for my whatever/ blaster?' 90% of the answers will be '/EM or /MM' (just because one player will say fire and another will say ice, because nobody cares much about the others).
Also... I'm on my 3rd BR toon (other two stalled on the 20s-30s) because I bought the set, I want to like it but it seems so meh. On this third one I got to 30 I haven't seen any other BR like the first two (because the set was new), and nobody talks about Beam Rifle anymore while you still see threads about Kinetic Melee and StJ. I even saw energy blast toons lol.
I'd make a BR (and thusly spend points to buy the set) if one didn't just stand there and fire in the same stance.
This is why I like Dual Pistols for a blast set, I feel like the character is doing more than one attack animation, over sets like AR and Archery. -
Quote:The story arc asks that yes, but that's no different than any other comic book storyline...That kind of makes the storyline even more cynical than it is, though. Heroes are generally defined as such because they help people and save them. Yet here we ask the question of who will die, but only the heroes matter. Them other peoples what die, them don't matter. It's an even more blatant case of emotional blackmail. The story REALLY wants us to care about these characters, but not out of some sense of good storytelling, but more so because them dying needs to be a tear-jerker. Feh.
*Cover of Justice League Comic with the whole league on display*
"One Will Die!"
And I agree with Claws. There's a lot of people seeming to think because they know Superhero tropes, that the characters themselves know the tropes
When does Batman ever pull out the tropes and go "Look here. It's on the internet! We're a friggin trope and we're playing right into it."
As a mostly hero player, I have no problem with the villains winning one. Which they of course we knew they would when it was said "One will die"
Well, not win, but get in some lasting hits anyways. Heroes can still possibly "win" while taking loses, which counts as a villain win. -
Quote:I think it will depend on where WW raised her son.But would he have male influence? That's presuming his father was still in the picture. Granted, he'd potentially have all the guys in say, the Justice League as role models.
But let's be honest, Batman? Not that good of a role model. Guy Gardner? Again, not that good. Wally and/or Barry? Probably good. Supes would be the best that he could hope for, but then you have Lois wondering why Clark is spending all that time with some other woman's kid. Especially Diana's.
I think if WW was with the father, there's less likely hood of the son living on the island, and more likely frequent visits.
If the father is out ofthe picture, more likely (imo) that he'll be living on the island. -
Hmmm...Catwoman gives Bruce Wayne a political speech on how she preferes a communist society over a capitalist one. Unless they were trying to go for the "sounds like a theif" speech, and just failed.
Alfred's comment may or may not work depending on how it plays out.
Not sure about the Batwing still.
But even with all that, still seeing it! -
Quote:I always thought, that from the beginning that was the question Sam.Sister Psyche killed Malaise? Wow, that actually does make me want to run the arc. That ******* has had it forever.
That said, here we are again asking "Who will die?" and getting an awkward answer. Who will die? Malaise! Yes! Wait, no... Hold on, let me check... OK, yes, he will die, but he doesn't count, either. That question is starting to sound incredibly hollow. It should, instead, be phrased as "Who among the following nine people will die: Statesman, Miss Liberty, Back Alley Brawler, Positron, Synapse, Sister Psyche, Bastion, Manticore, Numina. People not on the list who die in the process of the story are to be disregarded for the purposes of answering this question."
"Who of the surviving eight will die"
Any others who die are just part of the story. -
Shield comes with KB Protection, so why have the KB Resist IO in Tough at all?
-
Quote:I have no problem with villains "winning" in the story arc, however, I do think what you've written is a bit off.Except that due to the Sf gaps on Villain Side and a general lack of story content from 35-40 on Villain Side, the only advancement opportunities I have are by doing co-op content that completely ignores the fact that I'm not playing as a Hero.
Yes I could run paper missions but that gets boring and some of the more interesting encounters occur in Story Arcs and Task/Strike Forces.
Obviously some level of Status quo needs to be maintained, but this SSA is intended to change the Status Quo. Because of that the villains are going to score a victory for once.
There is no longer a gap in SFs. You don't have to do co-op content to level. You just have to repeat SFs, which is the same thing you have to do blue side, if you only wish to level through SFs. -
Quote:Turn Time Manipulation into a Melee Defense set variation! I will give you money equal to 800 points! ^_^To answer the OP, no, we do not have any sort of policy that melee power sets will be purchasable only.
There's a whole range of powersets we haven't explored yet, melee, defensive, support, ranged...I'm certain that as time progresses there will be a good mix of what's purchasable vs. what's VIP included. -
Seperating the game into CoH and CoV.
How the ATs are set up.
Tanker/Brute should be combined.
Scrappers/Stalker should be combined.
Blasters given Defense Secondaries, and made them the lawnmowers (mass minion killers) with weaker single target versus the Scrapper/Stalkers (and to limit degree Tanker/Brute) being more of the ST specialists.
Defenders/Corrs made into one AT...Like Defender with Scourge.
Trollers would of been Doms right off the bat.
MMs, you know, I think they're good as is, but they may have decided to turn the pets into a power pool pick for those who want the pets.
Then made Epic ATs, to be more specific to content.
Speaking of which...no war walls...multiple cities...so bigger maps, but less of them! Much like DCUO has done with Gotham and Metropolis.
Then have other cities possibily, but not as many, with some smaller "special" zones...like a Moon Zone, alternate dimension zones.
PvP fixed right off the bat.
And I really hope they regret making some of the game mechanics as IC things.
Enhancements, Inspirations, Auction House, Power Proliferations...would of left all that as OOC game mechanics. No auction house to go to, just a slash command with a button to click for the same command.
Making healing others so predominate in the game.
Not having the money to block a companies court battle and tell them to stick it.

Even if he grew up on the island, I think most of his "aunts" would likely mother him, as far as amazon's mother a child of course.

In fact, I imagine them saying things like "You don't expect us to take it easy on you just because you're a man, do you?" during training.
Which, if he wasn't up to his mother's level of ability at the same age, he'd likely get ribbed for not being as good as his mother.
Wonder Woman I think would love him either way, but some of his "aunts" on the other hand.
Also, living on the island, I have no doubt when he reaches puberty, he'll have a much "harder" time than Superman's daughter.
Superman's daughter would likely have the over protective dad, and she'd likely go through the "I always come in last to daddie's jobs." issues.
I'm not to sure daddy would really have to worry about his daughter, if she inherents all his abilities though.
Really, no matter who she dates, it's more about being worried that she says "Yes" rather than "No means no." After all, she's Superman's daughter, super strength and invulnerability. Any guy who didn't respec the "No" would likely wind up in traction just by her.
But if we take a cue from Supergirl, Clark would likely be that over protective father, and I can imagine him still giving the guys a hard time "Now remember, her eyes are up here."
WW's son would likely end up with a bit more of the emotional issues, while SM's daughter would end up with the "daddy issues"
Both would be tough, and I just can't imagine to many villains finding out about their children.
I think I'd give it to WW's son. More to live up to, with a larger group of people to live up to, while I do think they'd mother him, it's still a amazonian version of mothering, with a bit of bias against men. -
Quote:Actually. That's what YOU do.We shoot people for loitering in the street or for wearing gang colours.
My character is patrolling the street and attacked by those gang color wearing loiterers. then she takes them down.
And once my character outlevels them, they know not to attack and to just continue loitering. -
Quote:The genre savvy people know that heroes are often dumbed down to get the story to where they want itI'll preface my post by saying this: I have absolutely ZERO, I repeat, ZERO problems with villains winning, or losing by the skin of their teeth (aka the world came THAT close to ending!). I have a few redside characters myself, but I thought I'd make this clear before anyone things I'm just being a hater.
So...the SSAs. Yeah. I have to admit, after thinking over Part 4, I've come to the conclusion that these arcs are definitely NOT intended for folks already familiar with the lore. Why? Because those characters should be familiar with almost everything that happens, or should see the twist coming a mile away. This is painful because CoH is a world in which almost every super-hero trope we know of IS true. Why aren't people MORE Genre Savvy? -
Enjoyed the first one, the second one looks to be even better!
And Bruce Willis?! I'm there! -
But how does that help stalkers when not teamed? The harder targets would still regen and most combos don't have enough status effects to stack.
-
Quote:I see it pretty often (Scrapper using taunt) seeing as how I use it to hold AVs attentions. Now, what if Placate is supposed to be "bad"? What if Placate is never intended to be a very useful tool?
Think about it, when is the last time you see Scrappers using Confront? I know I haven't. Hell, I sometimes don't even see Brutes using Taunt.
I mean Placate is not great and is somewhat buggy. What if that's a bad power to improve upon? If I am soloing, I do use Placate more because I can do Placate + AS or a heavy hitter. Even if Placate +AS may not be worth it in the future, Placate can still stop the boss from attacking you for a little while.
