Quote:I'm surprised by this. From the posts I've seen of pre-beta info on the sets, the scrapper set is far and away the best of the AT sets. I personally expect it to cost twelve billion on the market and take a while to obtain through that route. 5% s/l defense, 10% recharge, and it enhances your critical chances across the board, making one of the best inherents better still. I'm glad I can afford some super packs!
I thought Stalker had a really great one with it's coming changes.
Slot it in Assassin Strike, the proc goes off, the next attack is automatic crit!

Quote:Let's not get that crazy! All we hear now is complaints of all the different loot!Actually, scratch that. I was thinkin' too small.
I think the Hamidon should get a new set of Hami-O's choosable from reward tables.
I think the Battalion should get a new set of Batal-O's choosable from reward tables.
I think the Rularuu should get a new set of Rulu-O's choosable from reward tables.
(Those are my three guesses as to the Coming Storm baddies.)
Better even still, these O's should all be different. Duo's, trebles, quads, quints, and throw in oddball buffs like mag 1 status, global inf boosts, prestige bonuses, PBAOE ally buffs, etc, etc.
Hell, even some DDR.
Get creative with it!
Inventions are awesome, no doubt, but it's been YEARS. How about some new stuff?

Quote:I think that's a good idea!Well if you get that I want Shorts and Shorts with Tights 4: Booty edition. Basically the Disco shorts without the stockings, and with a higher waist.
Who wears short shorts? We wear short shorts.
Really, I don't know why it hasn't been done, but I also don't know if this is something hard to make (combining pieces like being asked for), or just not done because they don't think it's worth the money?
Also, adding the tights to the forearms of the various small gloves options (padded/fingerless/ect) so the forarms aren't exposed would be a great addition, more so if they have ways to make them mesh with more than just tights and sleek tights. -
Quote:I like the legging aspect of them myself, why I always ask for the short shorts aspect of the piece to be made into a bikini bottom style, but doing that would also be good, as well as giving them the shorts 1-3 as additional bottoms would also be a good idea.I like the Disco bottoms, but it's rather limited because of the low "waistband." You either have to go with a bare midriff or wear one of the few belts that will cover the gap. So if we're going to have these low-waisted pieces, can we also have an version that goes all the way up to the waist, or at least make the waistline on them a little higher so we'll have more belt options?
Yes, thank you for demonstrating exactly what I meant. -
Quote:Yes, but that still won't stop them from saying it was obvious, since they the player know this, so obviously their character in the story arc must have some how found out all this as well.I like how both of you have to take the worst possible interpretation. Statesman was neither stupid, or detached or arrogant. It's amusing that you insist on it as well.
However, you're both right, but only in the most basic sense:
Yes, Statesman was having an off day. His daughter was dead. However, his own dialogue when he goes to confront Wade shows that he wasn't being overly aggressive. If anything, he was in full control of his faculties. He fully intended to take Wade in and put him in jail. So despite whatever distress he was in over his daughter, he wasn't going to compromise on his morals.
However, if Statesman did indeed know that there was a trap in place, he had NO way of knowing what sort of trap it was. Remember, not only was Wade utilizing a second power-stealing obelisk, which only the PLAYER (and NOT the characters) know existed in the first place, he was using a long-lost ritual that Sister Arlia used against both Imperious and Romulus, a ritual NO-ONE knew existed until this SSA.
Statesman likely had every reason to believe Wade thought he had an ace up his sleeve. But honestly, even given the number of times Statesman has been captured or sealed (all of which were only temporary) none of them resulted in the loss of his power or immortality. So if Statesman knew (which is a distinct possibility, he's a centuries-old hero, he shouldn't NOT know), there was no reason for him to believe that Wade's trap would work, only that Wade would -think- his trap would work.
Again, the player has the advantage of being an omniscient member of the audience, thus, it's perfectly clear to us that it's a trap, and most of us guessed well in advance what the trap would be. But only because there was information given to us in a cutscene, with no way for the character to acquire that information.
Sadly, no-one in the CoH lore has Deadpool's level of meta-gaming. And thank god for that.

Quote:I didn't say meI don't make female characters because I just can't get immersion when I play them. As a male, I just can't move myself into the female mindset.
If they had added a sash, that would have been enough for me. How they can continue to neglect a costume item that has been requested since Kheldians were released is so beyond me. Frankly, I think it is stupid.
As for fighting in tights, take a look at the K1, or old UFC matches where guys do fight in tights, or for that mater any High School wrestling match. Think a singlet is not tights?
I said other players. I can't be the only one to have heard, in game, "Guys don't wear tights." or "I'm a guy, I can't wear tights." many times over.

Quote:Heh...I was replying more for the sake of other readers who didn't knowYes, but I tend to skip weapon sets as a matter of course due to aesthetics (I don't like how it changes the animations for running/jumping/etc) so I would've had to actually check something before posting. I knew off the top of my head that Energy Punch was better than Barrage.

I guess I'll go back and edit the other post to say "another" instead of "the other". >.>

Quote:I agree with bolded. And I think that simple fix is to give greater enhancement values to Hami O's.Hella lot of whining.
I think the dev's should make new Hami-o's to replace the functionality of the fixed ones, and have them drop from the Avatar at the end of the UG and similarly beefy critters. (Looking at the Seed zone event, for one.)
While the 50% enhancement to everything may be to much, I don't think the 45%/33% for schedule A/B aspects of the enhancements is a bad idea.
It's what the alpha slot does, and it allows the Hami O's to be used as better fraken slot enhancements than some of the multi aspect IOs.
Making Titan O's and Hami O's non level based would also be a good think imo. People could make use of them while leveling up. Maybe put a limit of "must be level 10 to use" or some such, but I hope the fixing of this long standing bug, is just paving the way to making these enhancements more worthwhile to majority of the player base. -
Since this looks like a good area to also say it again...
Give Disco style leggings with a Bikini Bottom that can mesh with the tights options, instead of just those short short options it comes with. -
Quote:You know what, I've wanted those masks forever too, you know what, I'm still waiting.Only thing is, I wanted those masks for my male and huge toons for years. Not to speak of a sash for my WS.
The five bucks saved don“t really make up for me still not getting them.
No really, they gave the CoL masks. They're not the same! They have designs on them that (imo anyways) are limited to a few concepts.
I'm still waiting for the white mask that one could hopefully put on a few of the face details (like Makeup, Dark Eyes, Goth Eyes, Small Mask 1-5, X Eyes...ect).
That kinda why I didn't mention them in the previous post, but did mention the sash. -
Quote:I would of said the same thing for those who complained myself.Brand I agree with an overly large portion of what you post. This is not one of those times we share a stance. Put the shoe on the other foot for a moment. What do you think the reaction would have been if there had been a male/huge only pack? I am pretty sure there would have been a thousand flaming posts screaming for gender equality.
This pack sucks because it neglects a large portion of the player base. Just like the gunslinger pack sucked because it ignored the female player's desire for more gunslingerish clothing. My annoyance springs from the fact that the desire for equality is a lie, because no one seems to care if it is equal towards males. Granted, that may just be my perception of things.
If the pack was centered around Male characters and complained it didn't have any female options, I'd have said "Roll a male character."
I do think some parts could of been more universal mind you. Females get access to the arm bands from the barbarian bundle set, and I don't see why the males didn't get them. The costume item just seems like one of those pieces that could be universal, and I think would of seen enough use to make it worthwhile to have made a male version. The same with the chest details the males got in that bundle.
I also don't see why some top details the females have access to, werent made available to males. Hacker for instance! No idea why they don't give that as an option for males as a design for their tights.
But I do think they should keep to the idea of what will sell, what will possibly see some real use and therefore not be a waste of their time and money.
Sadly, I think a lot of that means, more people are likely to use male pieces on females and less female pieces on males.
As "enlightened" as the majority of the CoH forums may be, I'd say the majority of player base isn't to this point yet.
Mind you, while I see plenty of tight wearing males in CoH, I see plenty of "What no! Guys don't wear tights!" comments, not to mention plenty of "That's not realistic!"
The last one gets me a bit more confused, when you'll see people say "It's not realistic to fight in tights!" but then go and request dresses for men. Sooo...fighting in tights isn't realistic enough in a superhero game, but fighting in a dress is?
I'm all for more options for both sides. I'm for a bit of variation in pieces out there (love that new belt with cape action that females have access to, but I wish it had a version without the stripes on it, so I could feel like I could use it with any other color and not just black to hide the stripes).
But I don't really see it as the pack neglects a large majority of the player base (and I do think male avatars should get a sash option btw and do wish they had maybe put in the OT to get that one piece ported over with the set) but rather, for those complaining, the pack neglects those who decide to neglect half the options of the character creator. Namely the ability to make female and male characters. -
Quote:I don't see why people keep saying "Did Statesman hate being immortal"Here's a question: Did Statesman hate being immortal? He had outlived many people and was going to outlive his family had Darren not killed him. Had his wife not taken ill and died, she would have died of old age, same with his recently killed daughter, and same with his grand daughter. While Statesman stays young forever....... death wish, perhaps?
Or did Rularru tap into his mind and play on the fact that Statesman's loved ones were gone (except his grand daughter) and played on the fact that he missed them?
We are assuming of course that this death is permanent.
It'd make more sense for him to hate it, if he had been alive longer. He'd been alive for less than a century. That's not enough time to be all angsty about being immortal and outliving everyone.
There's people hitting the century mark in RL and they're quite happy to be alive, and they for sure outlived many loved ones.
The immortality is a curse mantra only works when you've been immortal for a few hundred years.

Quote:Gambler's Cut is the other few as wellBrandX said all that needs to be said. I skipped Havoc Punch and don't miss it at all.
It's one of the few sets I'd recommend taking the shorter-recharge power of the first two tiers (Energy Melee is the other with Energy Punch over Barrage), and for the same reason: the faster one is a better attack chain filler in every imaginable way.

Quote:There's always ageless for the debuff resistance which helps reduce the cascade failure, plus it helps with your end, and gives added Recharge.Trying to decide what the best path for my /ninjitsu stalkers will be for survivability, the t4 regen rebirth or the t4 barrier.
- On one hand having rebirth's heal + massive regen has spoiled me on other melees, but /nin has a great heal available at lvl 20 in Kuji-In Sha. Sha is nice, but I've seen that when fighting critters with high tohit or defense debuffs it only buys you seconds before your defenses begins to falter. Rebirth would allow for a little more reckless play but it probably wouldn't allow me to "up my game" as much as barrier.
- /Nin lacks any resistances outside of psi (I usually add about 15-20% S/L at with tough and bonuses), so barrier would also be a nice choice for burst survival - my nin builds usually hover around only around 46-48% defenses. Yes, demoralize adds -7.5% tohit for 8 seconds, blinding power adds another -7.5% for 15 seconds and there is also caltrops but the concern here is the resistances and preventing cascading failures mainly.
Ninjitsu is so well rounded that it has become a really tough choice, is there a clear winner here and I am just overlooking something? Or would it just balance out in the end between the two? Any opinions appreciated! -
You get aggro from any attack, you just don't break hide with pet powers. So throwing in Caltrops adds to the damage from hide, while you rely on defense to not get hit and land all the others.

Quote:Well, Havok Punch is the worst DPA attack, and in i22, Assassin Strike can be used as a regular attack.BrandX, I can just about guarantee I can't do that, sorry. Dropping one of the first two is a bit too unconventional an idea for my simple little mind to be comfortable with.

Figure the powers I see as potentially on the chopping block are Jake, Chain, or Thunder Strike.
Thanks,
Gate
Jacob's Ladder also has better DPA than Havok Punch.
Electric Melee's best DPS chain (untill i22 and Assassin Strike can be used as a regular attack for lots and lots of damage) is Charged Brawl - Jacob's Ladder - Charged Brawl - Chain Induction.
One of Electric Melee's other draws is all that AOE.
Jacob's Ladder, Chain Induction, Thunder Strike and Lightning Rod! Can't give those up! those are the AOE attacks! -
Quote:Ummm...wow. While I've continued to say it was a fix and never once called it a nerf. Calling most of the scrapper posters lowest of the low for using this. o.O I'm not saying everyone used it, but I recall seeing many a build posted that used it.Dear OP there is no NERF there was a fix to a long time exploit that ONLY the lowest of the lowe made use of.
Personally, I thought it was a great slot saver. Even used the Heal/End one on my Scrpper for RTTC.
Really, your post is coming off as some sort of "I got beat in PvP" or "I never could get the Hami Os to use it, so I hate you all." or worse yet "I have a superiority complex and want to feel like I'm on some sort of moral high ground." -
Quote:In the game, Statesman is looked up to. Just because the player base went the other way with it, doesn't mean that's not how it is in lore. And admittedly, maybe not with players characters as they again, dont want to go along with it, but the citizens, other heroes, they all looked up to Statesman, even if they didn't agree with him.I don't know if it's a case of looking up to anyone. Statesman was the figurehead, but one reason he has died is because many of the player base didn't actually respect him or look up to him. Hence, he was easier to take out of the game.
I viewed many of the FP as "long distance mentors" - the guys who were there to call upon, if the ordure impacts the thermantidote. Now, as the story progresses, they are largely superfluous to requirements and increasingly becoming irrelevant as the game becomes our characters' story.
And if that was too serious, then Faultline - because anyone who can cope with Fusionette for more than 20 minutes at a stretch is a genuine hero! -
Quote:It can't. Not in anyway that works with the storyline anyways.Sadly it feels like the trend. Jack Emmert (am I still allowed to say that name here?) as Statesman and now Matt Miller as Positron. I would like for it to somehow creatively turn to our heroes as the ones we look up to but I don't know how that could be achieved.
Look at how it is now. Romulus, Imperious, Statesman, dead...and not because of you character.
Not to mention all the other stuff that goes on, and in in game storyline, your character really wasn't all that involved.
And would it make since if it did? We have the joke about the MAGI vault, when it was how many missions exactly that something got stolen from there? One?
So the new joke would be, everyone's being looked up to to replace Statesman? Wow. And people thought he was a joke, but it took over 5000 heroes to replace him? That says something impressive about Statesman.
-
Quote:I don't recall a time they ever did.You missed the point by miles...
I was not surprised.
I bought the pieces I wanted for my female characters.
Still piss me off devs dont modify or add a single piece based on player feedback in the same feedback threads posted by them.
Once the pieces go to beta, you're pretty much testing for serious flaws, not what avatarsthey can and cannot go on, they already know.
Maybe you're expecting to much from the whole test them phase of things. -
Quote:I thought Wildstorm folded because they gave up on the universe myself. Not true. How well did Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol sell? Or his Seven Soldiers? His last issues of Batman Inc were starting to slip, slaeswise, too. I also mentioned Gail Simone earlier and how horrid her Wonder Woman run was.
Then, there's logistics. It's not at all plausible for Geoff Johns to write every character at DC nor can Jim Lee draw every book. They DO have a staple of very good writers (Fraction, Brubaker, Johns, Azzarello, etc) but the problem is that:
1. Writing/art is subjective. Look at James Robinson. His Starman series was well recieved but his Justice League was considered horrible by most and sales reflected this.
2. Jim Lee created Wildstorm and that universe folded. He's not the Second Coming and anything he touches most certainly doesn't turn to gold.
It's really not anywhere as simple as we fans would like to make it. Saying all they need is "good writing and good art" doesn't cut it. Secret Six is another book with a loyal fanbase, great writing and art. But it was selling lower than the lowest of the new 52 titles.

Quote:Grab Spring Attack! Helps.I considered going Kin since it gets to keep its PBAoE but eventually settled on MA because of the alternate animations. He's only level 20 so I suppose I could reroll but I'd rather not.
As a Stalker I almost never increase the spawn size beyond +3. The only time being ST focused bothers me is when I'm playing on large teams with a lotta ranged ATs. Still, Kin looks pretty appealing...
Though there is something to be said about Kin Melee.
While hidden: Spring Attack -> Burst for 100% crit! \o/ Not to mention Placate -> Burst for more 100% crits!
The problem comes in finding the power slots. -
Quote:You've both forgotten about Caltrops, but admittedly that's limited to one Secondary Power Set.As far as I know, that's the only two powers that don't break Hidden because the damage is done through a "pet".
You can still get hit as soon as you land. You have to follow up with another attack quickly because the knock down chance isn't 100% and you don't always hit every target.
So, basically, you are not going to just hop from one enemy group to another without breaking hidden. You are bound to get hit after you land.
The downside is that since the damage is done through a "pet", it currently doesn't generate Focus but you still want to use lightning rod. It is too good even without Focus generation.
