Okay, that explains why I was thinking 16 up.

However, even so...13 up...go watch some late night TV, or PG movies. Hell, even Spaceballs (rated PG) uses the F word in it.

You can get away with alot in that rating. Not that I'm for a mature server. I really don't think it would change anything.

I just think the GMs take some of the generics to far.

  4. You realize none of you know what name he/she choose.

For all you know the name was "Sexy Mistress" and he got it genericed for that reason.
  5. Actually, with CoV, that game is 16+...you'd think they'd give a little more leeway.

I can't believe all the responses against a more mature oriented server. THough this is more for the bio's than anything.

After being banned for a bio that's no worse than anything you can see on TV, I think the rules can be a little to tight.

Honestly, being bad on an elec/therm is pretty hard as it stands. Get nice HP, some acc, some recharge, some KB resist and you really should roll 70% of the pvp zones in 1v1s.

Elec/therms are kinda lul. I haven't had the heart to play mine since they gutted the concept in I13.

Actually I made the corr more for the "why don't we have a corr on the team?! I swear, I know they're out there! I know they're popular! But why are all my teams composed of Brutes/Stalks/Doms...with the occaissional VEAT!!!"

The fact that it's one of my first toons to be PvP viable that I find fun to play is a nice added bonus that I love so much.

My DB/WP hurts to play alot of times.
  7. Sounds like more of a damage issue than anything.

    Blasters are lots of damage.

Tankers are lots of defense and a little bit of damage (compared to say blasters, scrappers).

Blasters & Scrappers walk into a crowd go click click boom and move on or die (scrappers less likely to die, blasters more likely to dish out a big higher damage at the cost of life)

Tankers are a...walk in take a pounding, slowly beat doen the opponents.

That's what I get from the OP's post. Which is pretty much true. :/
  8. I don't really have any envy for powers based on numbers values, which is what everyone seems to be going for.

I do have envy for the look of some powers.

The ranged stone blast, the Legacy Chain (believe that's the right group :P) have, and I was hoping Stone Assault would get.

I also envy Wyvern boots. Oh, how I love the look of those boots! I want them!

Take MoB after you get QR?

I don't see where the problem is, I'm fine on my end during those levels, packing blues, using end reduction enhancements, using rest every now and again isn't going to hurt you.

    Turn off sprint?

Are you just having the problem with your brutes, because you want to keep on attcking non stop? Yeah...that isn't going to happen till later, so cant help you with that part.

I'd recommend picking up at least the ally heal and the shields. Shields will help you because your build only has 25kb protection and they can be slotted with steadfasts. You should shoot for around 41kb protection. Also might want to grab some more hp.

Also you only have 9% accuracy bonus. If you happen to come up on a loldefense toon and miss with melt armor, you may not be able to drain them fast enough to survive. So bring yellows or shoot for at least 30% accuracy.
Hmmm...but now, what to replace to grab those. And more KB resist *nod*
  12. Okay...time to work on my dedicated PvP build, now that I've hit 50.

I've been staying with mainly Zones & Arena Duels.

Having gone back in past thread (from quite awhile ago...there were some posted builds)...and I have to ask, Coralax Pet, for PvP?

Is that just a pvp duel thing? Or is that found useful in zone? I didn't think it felt useful in zone, but I can see it being a good set bonus mule.

This is what I'm thinking for, for right now...

I figure the defense will be eaten through, but I didn't figure there would be to much DR on the little range defense I do have in there (with the Zyphers), so maybe those slots can be put to use in better powers, or replaced with straight ENDRED IOs to help with END management.

    Thoughts, suggestions, critiques...all welcome.

I actually leveled up using a hybrid (as I liked to jump into zone when I was leveling up, but didn't want to work on the dual build feature). But the hybrid was just in grabbing the shields (and as you level up, you should grab the shields imo...I know I hated recruiting a thermal to see he skipped the the ST heal and the buff shields).

Also for PvE, I'd focus on defense bonuses as the way to go, purely because I found myself to be quite squishy getting hit all the time.

    Rikti Hunter

    For a Rikti fighter...

I'd choose /Electric Armor for sure.

The energy resist may only go to 75%, but that's better than DA's 23.8% (give or take a few percentage points).

While DA only gives 18% (roughly) more PSI resist.

As for Primary...FM. For the better AOE imo, and more pure fire attacks to use, than Dark Melee has pure Negative Energy attacks to use.

Note however, that DM's S/NE attacks are loaded with more NE dmg (about 20% Smashing, 80% NE), compared to FM having about 40% Lethal and 60% Fire (rough percentages).

So, with FM/ELA you require less recharge for top ST DPS (which Lightning Reflexes helps get to easier), you get more AOE, and also Lightning Reflexes, helps keep you top ST DPS and AOE attacks from being squished by lots of -rch from the Rikti PSI attacks.
  15. Well for AR and Archery...I think the nukes are a must. No reason not to get them, and every reason to get them.

The other nukes, for me, when deciding to get them or not, is dependent on the Primary.

Force Fields for instance, I'd get the nuke. No toggle other than Dispersion Bubble to worry about. And you can have that back up pretty quickly.

Rad for isntance, I wouldn't. Just because I find the toggles might be needed at all times.

One could save the nuke use for when you dont need the toggles, but I 'd rather grab a power Id use more often.

With Fluffy being so heavily slotted for tohit debuff he actually survives a surprising number of alpha-bait summons. i sometimes resummon him in the middle of a spawn to absorb alpha strikes, especially against fear-resistant, AoE-heavy groups like Nemesis. He used to be more standoffish, but it seems that his AI has been changed to make him prone to charging into the middle of enemy groups, which is where i usually want him so his Chill of the Night aura can add to the joy. With substantial recharge slotting i don't mind using Fluffy as a disposable pet. Besides, he's got a four minute lifespan until you need to resummon him even if you don't toss him at enemies.

My D3 has been mostly retired for a few years, but when i have time i'll see if i can dig up a Mids' recreation of my Dark/Ice's build. Most of the secondary set slotting should work as well for Dark Blast as far as sets go.
Highest def number on my Dark/Ice is 30%+ vs. ranged, but combined with Miasma's controls and debuffs it's generally more than enough.

Well, slotting more hold in Fluffy isn't a bad idea, if he throws out his own hold enough. Especially if you have multiple holds on your Dark/ as well.

I had 3 ST holds on my Dark/Ice for instance.

Yup. Seen the prices on Basilisk's Gaze. I just get the recipes using tickets for both sides. Saves money, and usually makes you some with other recipes gotten this way.

Pet Recipes is the exception not the rule.

Look at the melee sets, range damage sets...ect...ect...

One. It doesn't make since. Why would WW buy illegal goods? Or why would your hero be buying illegal goods?

Second, it won't do anything for villains. Because heroes will always have more players and therefore more influence to spend vs villains infamy.

This merging of the markets won't do anything for anyone on the recipe's being available front either.

Why? Because everyone wants the same recipes.

I know quite a few players who just sell the recipes to vendors, not bothering with WW outside of getting a purple drop, and knowing 'hey this recipe will actually get me influence'.

Also have to remember, all those recipes you want, that almost everyone else wants too? Yeah, they're keeping them when they get them, because they want them too.

Not to mention, as people are willing to buy recipes for a large amount of influence/infamy, people are going to ask for alot for that item.

See that long list of red IOs for sale? How they actually have some in the market, with a long list of people fighting with bids in, but none of them are getting it?

I put in a bid for 200million just to see if the previous bids of 400million were just people putting in a high amount right away.

Let it sit, as I placed other bids on items.

    Nothing.

Next test, I had popular recipes sitting in the market at different levels. All above lvl 33, but under lvl 50.

They didn't sell after being in the market for two weeks.

Not to mention, most of the players I know, wait to get lvl 50 IO sets anyways.

I myself prefere level 33, and there's others out there who prefere that level for exemping purposes.

Only one toon I've ever made used sets lower than lvl 33, that wasn't lacking, and that was a WP/ tanker I set up to start getting better defense as soon as possible.

o.O It's just a mission transporter. Sounds a bit different to me.

Unless you mean, you lose the risk of travelling to a mission.

Personally, I'd just be happier with a reduced time on the current mission transporter.

Reduce it to 1 hour. THat would make it more handy. Currently, I pretty much use it for TFs I know will have a long travel time, at least once.

It's not that your wrong for the team. The team is wrong for you (by dint of being that narrowminded :P)
I've played a high lvl Empath. The buffs are on a pretty long timer. So unless you're spamming out Clear Mind for the buff, how exactly are you not healing when necessary, more so if you're the only buffer/debuffer on the team?

Yeah, on a good team, those auras might just be enough (or even unneeded), but unless like I said, an exceptional team, I found you're going to be busy using Healing Aura and Heal Other.

Unless it's a small team. Or Duo.
  21. My suggestions...based on my Dark/Sonic/Dark

I slotted Fluffy with 4 Basilisk's Gaze (all except the ACC/HOLD/RCH/END & Proc) and Touch of the Nictus ACC/HEAL & ACC/HEAL/RCH.

I don't think the set bonuses can be beat. And I find Basilisk's Gaze EASY to get if you just go the route of AE Tickets.

I also slotted Fearsome Stare with 5 (sans Proc) Glympse of the Aybss. Again, nice set bonuses.

Yes, the tohit debuff it gives is huge, but I find it's enough without being enhanced and you have DN to stack with it.

I skipped Petrifing Gaze, as I don't have another hold to stack with it for bosses. And against AVs, it's not going to be of much use by itself.

If you're not building for more defense, I have to wonder why you slotted Shadowfall with Reactive Armor. Impervium Armor would give better set bonuses imo, with the +END and +END REC.

I'd personally skip the nuke as well. It just drains your end. If you like it. Of course, keep it Have some blues handy, and nuke away. But I find it's usually better for blasters to nuke away, while I keep my end.

I'd also skip the snipe power.

Could allow you to put in Tactics.
  22. I just love it so much! PvE and PvP wise!

    That is all.

    1) "Can you heal?", or "Sorry, but we need a healer.", is common place when sending in a /tell to someone asking you to send one in the first place to join the team.

    2) "Sorry, but we need a healer, happy hunting.", when you get grabbed up for a team on your Traps/Rad Defender, and get immediatly booted off because your not a Empathy.

    3) You get the blame when the team faceplants, regaurdless of reason, and usually get a comment from someone about you not being a healer, or needing one.Sometimes a boot willl happen after a single face plant, and get a /tell like the following."Make a real Defender noob!", and we all know what kind of Defender that player exspects at that point, a Empathy!

This by far isnt the first time iv faced this, nore the first for many others, but its starting to get annoying when I wanna team, and instead, get to travel around Solo because many players think this is another game, where Healers exist.

Yes, I will say Defenders are broken, and its not there Vigilance to blame at all, it does its job more then most will pay attention to.The main problem with Defenders, is they are Labelled, Shackled, Down-trodden, and put apon for wanting to acctually contribute damage, and other powers that make them shine, not to just be healers like people belive they should be, and suffer the most out of any AT when it comes to being singled out pushed away from being anything but a heal-bot.

So I ask that it be taken into consideration to make a Pure Healer Class for this game, so we Defenders, and sometimes Controllers, can get a break, and do what we where made for!DEFENDING THE TEAM!
Would it make you feel better if instead of "Are you a healer" they asked "Are you an Empath/Pain Dom/possibly Thermal"?

Looking at mids you can see the difference that 12.3 difference makes, at least concerning END usage and recharge of powers.

I myself use lvl 33 IOs for exemping purposes. I know with lvl 50 IOs, I'd get more out of the sets. But I like to have the set bonuses for when I'm exemped too.

Now some don't plan to exemp, for them, id say go lvl 50 sets.

I however exemp for TFs (not usually normal missions)...sooo...I LOVE to keep those bonuses.

Cos, all the skins atm for the rifle work cos it's still in the same place, blast wise. So, when you fire it, the muzzle flare is still in the same place. The body moves in the same way.
Two guns? Double headache for BaBs.
Now I'm not saying it's going to happen. Or whether or not it's worth the devs time to make alternate animations just to have this.

BUT...that bolded part up there and then copied for even more emphasis...well, one, that's unwieldy as hell right there....in a game of super strong, flying, fire blasting super heroes, is not a good arguement against it.

Not counting movies, but in comics themselves, there has been use of dual wielding Assault Rifles.

At least the OP was suggesting it as an alternate animation, rather than a whole new powerset.
