Quote:If you mostly solo, I can't help but think, go the Scrapper route.I created a concept character that was a Fire/Fire Tanker but I'm not all that crazy about Firey Aura (I'm used to playing Willpower toons). I'm just curious to know what the major differences would be between a Tanker and a Scrapper. I usually end up playing solo but I do team every once in awhile.
But I get bored easily, soloing on a tank.
Scrapper doesn't survive as well as a tanker, but it moves alot faster, and after the right power picks, maybe a couple of IOs, /WP on a scrapper is great. -
Quote:Well, you know, if you don't like it, you dont have to play it.Is it just me, or does this set seem ridiculously underpowered compared to other sets. Low damage, little useful utility. Right now it looks to me like the worst blast set. Why not make it at least comparable to existing sets? If this is the "New Toy" that's supposed to be part of bringing back old customers and gaining new ones, then I don't think it's going to be effective. It's a little bit like this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV30Vd_CYqk
In fact, I encourage others not to play it, so I can one day be the only one in CoH who uses the set.
<.< What?! >.>;; -
Quote:Eh. No fear at all. If it's 50's I already have at lvl 50 and don't play them anymore, no need to get the extra stuff on them. :PAnyone else feel this way? I'm excited to no end about the "END GAME" stuff Posi mentioned. Something to plug our 50's into that help advance them and give them fun stuff to do... very very excited... but..
...
By the time GR hits live... I'll more then likely have... 35 LvL 50 toons. (I'm at about 33 now with 2 over 35 and one just about to hit 30... so maybe 36 even...)
How the heck am i going to decide who should go first?! And.. if it's really involved... who gets neglected and who gets the special treatment... ??
I have over 25 different heros and 10 or more villians.. all of whom i pretty much enjoy playing and like there concepts. If i hadent, they would have been scrapped long before lvl 50...
Infact, this whole "end game" concept has had me scrap my plans for any NEW alts. Once i finish the 3 i currently have over lvl 25, I'm not starting any new ones till i know more about what's going to happen. Anyone under 25 gets there costumes saved and deleted tonight. (just incase i want to remake them in GR...) It's been a slow friday for me here at work.. i've had too much time to think on this topic... LOL.
Anyone else in the same boat?
This might be something different if you take those 50's and get every accolade on them that makes you tougher...but seeing as how many people who have a whole lot of 50's, I highly doubt that's the case...sooo...eh... -
Quote:Yup. Leveled up on Virtue as well.I was on Virtue, and it was nothing but non stop whinefest that people couldnt farm the AE. NonStop for about 40 minutes. I was actually considering playing the character old fashioned
But as I leveled up the slow way, I got increasingly bored with all the AEBrats... They followed me to The Hollows... but?! They didn't follow me to PI. Thank goodness.
Maybe I just travelled to quickly from mission to mission to see any of the chat. Or...maybe got on early enough to not see it? -
-
I was in AP running the first contact (on virtue), and never saw this complaining about the AE FIX (I refuse to call it a nerf
)
And I only went to AP this time around, because of a flip of the coin. Really. That's what I did. Flipped a coin to see which Origin Starting Contact, I would start with.
I was also teaming with a SG member since I logged into beta and there she was, just logging in as well.
Since we both have the same origin for our toons, we ran them together
Great fun was had! -

Some how...I knew I wouldn't be the first to 50.
Though I can see why some would want to rush it just a bit. I can't blame someone for rushing to lvl 32 (maybe 34 for slots) and Hail of Bullets.
Still...I'm only lvl 13. -
hahaha...they thought that AE mission type was going to stay? *facepalm* No risk at all...easy to solo at 4/8...and they really thought it was going to stay?
Now, I don't care if others farm/pl/whatever...but I never for an instant thought that mission was going to stay available. :P -

*sniff* The patch...it's like a tease with no way to pre-purchase GR.

Quote:I really don't see how it's an unfair advantage.I can't agree with this. If you REALLY want to have the ninja run animation with other travel powers, I'd suggest suggesting this as part of power customization. But the power itself, especially as a quasi-travel power from a paid-for Booster Pack, really does need to suffer from limitations, or it gives people who bought it an unfair advantage. Well, more unfair than it already does.
I actually like the animations, themselves, and I'd like to see them added into some kind of stance customization interface, but the Ninja Run power is NOT the right way to do it, in my opinion.
*edit*
Not unless they give us a zero-cost, no-effect toggle that just puts us in Ninja Run mode without any of the buffs. Kind of like the Halloween costumes. Then I could see it happen.
NR can't be slotted for ENDRED, so it's cost on your ENDBAR should be apparent, and with Super Speed, it's not like you're not practically at the speed cap (if not at the speed cap) with Sprint toggles on as well.
But those two travel powers aside, why not with CJ? It works with Siphon Speed and Inertial Reduction. -

He's stuck in the box because of your knockback!

I'd guess at close to 1500 over the last almost 63 months...all the boosters, CoH, CoH DVD Collectors Edition, CoV Collectors Edition, all the boosters, server xfers, name changes!
I'm not going to count new computer, as I would of gotten that regardless of CoH. If it wasnt for CoH it would of been for some other game. -
Quote:Actually...Justice Girls isn't a RP SG really...at least not anymore.Yeah, The D is "RP Lite". You seem to have stumbled onto a bunch of Bleach Fans, which is fine. But it's not indicative of the server as a whole.
Personally, I'd recommend checking The Cape Radio out and joining their channel, or joining the RP Virtue Channel.
The Cape advertises Super Groups all the time, and there are tons of SGs that cater to a variety of character types.
I'm a member of two. Phoenix Insurrection, which is a Rogue Isles Vigilante/Rebel group, and Solarium Sanctis, which is a group for reformed super villains.
Also of the top of my head, I can think of VGs like Weapons Union (I think it's a mercenary group), The Inhuman League (For Non-Humans), Cupidita Regnum or something spelled like that (Noble Demons), Montblanc Asylum um... Inevitable Evolution is a Mutant themed one that's fairly small but it's in an active Coalition, same with the Rogue Isles Protectorate.
Blueside there are groups like Gods of the Golden Age (and Young Gods of the Golden Age), which are Golden Age themed. Um... Wolfcry Division, American Legion, S.C.O.R.P.I.O., Children of Egypt, Justice Girls... I have less Blueside experience to draw upon, so more suggestions there would be great. -
Quote:Well...if you quit your job, it'd likely lead to the divorce anyways. So, best to go with the divorce, as you only lose one...unless the divorce gets you so depressed it ruins your work performance, and then I guess you still lose both. This always happens when I read the forums. I tell myself I'm going to finish project X before I move on to a new one, and I read a post that reminds me why project Y got me excited in the first place. (in this case, project Y is a build with RoTP on an 107 second timer... it was lower, but that used hasten, which doesn't actually work for this scenario since you lose hasten when you die.)
I really need to either quit my job or get a divorce, so I can give this game the time it deserves.
Tough choices! -
Quote:But Umbral...I would never want the animation to Vengeful Slice touched! It's one of my favorite attacks!Because Cryptic was completely ignorant of the fact that animation times were actually a mechanical balancing point rather than just fluff. It's for the same reason that some powers have ridiculously fast animation times when balance would dictate they need to be longer (Blaze, BIB, Seismic Smash, pre-rebalance Energy Transfer) and others have ridiculously long animation times when balance would dictate they need to be faster (Total Focus, Shout, etc).
Interestingly enough, even though Castle knows about the problems of animation time and how it affects the balance of sets, the new sets he's put out have shown similar flaws in balancing the damage/rech/end formula with the practical limitations of DPA and long animation times. Dual Pistols is a great example of this: the numbers would actually be quite nice if the animation times weren't godawful long. The animations make the set, from a numbers standpoint, painfully mediocre. Dual Blades has a similar, but slightly less disadvantageous, problem in Vengeful Slice and One Thousand Cuts which makes using those powers outside of their combos tactically unintelligent.
It's a Shōryū-ken attack with blades! -
Quote:You know...not that it really matters to me...but what would all of you who think 25 is to low, think of lvl 25 as the EPIC AT unlock? The halfway point?Posi being reworked is fine, but what about Quarterfield, etc ?? Sorry if that's already been answered. Also, yes please to a co-op Shard.
As for the OP: Yeah, lvl 20 to unlock EATs just seems too low.
Oooo-Raa! for being able to go 1-20 then take a PB or WS 1-50 without leaving Atlas Park. AE is da debil and little good has come from it. The starter zones are now a bc hell, rookies think the entire game is about pl'ing in the AE and RMT, and wads of content go mostly unused due to this.

If it helps, I ALWAYS put up my tag.
I also get tells asking me to join, when no tag is up. Which I don't mind at all.
But I never use the "NOT LOOKING FOR TEAM" tag. -
Let this happen! PLEASE! You can't slot it for ENDRED, so it's not like it would be broken!
Not to mention we'd still have to grab the other travel power!
I hate not being able to use CJ with NR. And after using the +SPD powers of a KIN with a NR using toon...it made travel even more fun! -
Quote:I know I don't want a free form AT because of different damage types.OK, first I like the system we have and have no overwhelming desire to see a massive change. Although I do have a question. Is the point of wishing for freeform that people want different types of damage in a build? Fire/Ice/Energy for example.
I ask this because the new dual pistol set allows you pick what damage you you are doing. Granted the majority is lethal, but am I the only person that thinks this might be a tiny baby step toward a more freeform build.
Could we see some sort of armored tech suit AT that has multiple damage types in the future? Perhaps not being able to walk through all the sets in an AT and Cherry pick but being able to select heat vision or X-ray eyes for your eye beams, or have your left gauntlet be a flame thrower and your right gaunlet shoot energy beams or a Sonic assault using a system like the swap ammo system.
Or perhaps a magic set that has a teir 3 attack with a swap spells option that allows you to call upon Earth(smashing), Air(lightning), Fire, or Water(Ice) to go along with other spells that deal "magical" energy damage or call upon dark energies depending on the spell you pick for that tier.
Could it be that the Swap ammo system is the first step by the devs to see just how freeform they can really be and keep things balanced?
Or do people just want their Fire snipe to LOOK like the Rad snipe but still do fire damage, because that is an entirely different conversation that does not involve power choice as much as animation choice.
Or am I missing the point entirely?
It's more of a...Mixture of ATs powers that I want. For example, Gun carrying, telekinetic, martial artist...so what do I need for that?
Martial Arts, Dual Pistols, Mind Control and Force Field powers!
