Quote:Probably because it can be abused even more that it can now?Recently I met someone I like teaming with but he's on more often than I am so he's already 5 levels ahead of me in just a few days.
We started some alts with a pact, but we both prefer playing the toons we're currently working on.
I just don't see why we couldn't form a pact on the toons we already have considering we're within 5 levels of each other.
What would it hurt to be able to pact at any level as long as you're within 5 levels of each other? I don't understand the restriction. -

Quote:I'm gonna give it to you simple. On why that thread is very enlightening, but in the end means very little.Aw, now don't be casting aspersions.

If your contention is correct, then I have to ask when is Castle gonna fix this? Because one of my absolute fave toons is a fire/wp scrap that needs the extra 20 DPS.
NEEDS IT.
Aw, man, why you gotta hate?
I'm just pointing out the facts, that do not support the conclusion of the thread.
Fact: The best brute set does way more dps than the best scrapper set, for less end. Even if I lay off hitting that hot button, on average, brutes STILL do more damage.
Fact: Brutes have higher hitpoints. This does not balance out their extra damage.
Fact: Brutes have higher buff caps. This also does not balance out their extra damage.
Yes, scrappers have more End tools at their disposal, (thank you devs for physical perfection, we luv it!) but I will counter by pointing solemnly at gloom.
Are brutes End starved enough to make them balanced? I sure don't think so.
Don't get me wrong, I love scrappers to death. But the numbers do not lie, despite how ineptly you think I'm handling them.
(fumble fumble thumble drop....)
(sigh)
People post numbers in that thread. Then they post better, or worse, numbers, and the only difference was....what? Their fingers were tired?
Little more than hearsay. I'm sorry if that disturbs you.
All those brutes and scrappers your trying to decide on inviting for the best damage, in the end, are likely delivering the the same damage.
Why? because all those best damage strings being talking about in Billz thread are great for discussion. But in the end, 99% of people won't be using those attack strings.
Go and watch actual people play (you say you PuG)...Shadow Maul and Dragon's Tail used on single targets. Eagle's Claw being throw about.
Even on my IOed out DB/WP scrapper, my best DPS string is BF-AV-Repeat...not the best, because getting that required a hit in survival.
And that's what you're going to run into with PuGs, andnot teaming with the IOed Out OR Go Home, crowd.
Scrappers and Brutes will be played just as much now as before (okay maybe a few more brutes due to being able to take them blueside)...but Scrappers are in no danger. -

Which is better 60-65% Accuracy slotting OR 40% Accuracy slotting with a Kismet +6% IO?

Quote:What? So they're capped HP all the time, instead of keeping DP on auto like others do.No, Castle chimed in on a thread about it at the time. They know it's like that and, at the time, were perfectly happy with it.
It particularly annoys me on Regen, because Dull Pain slams into the cap with minimal heal slotting. DP is a meaningful part of Regen's non-"oh crap" survival toolkit, and the nearby cap truncates the lion's share of that benefit.
A lot of people chimed in that a cap is a cap, and Stalkers were better off anyhow because of the HP buff, both of which are really non-starters in the argument, IMO. Other Stalker powersets with +Def and +DR benefit in an exactly proportional way from increased base HP, but Dull Pain in particular got its proportional benefit reduced.
Ultimately the best defense of this that was raised was that there was no clear need for Regen Stalkers to have to have the fully Dull Pain benefit in order to be viable, so no change was likely to be forthcoming.
Instead, they use Dull Pain as a self heal when needed (admittedly like others do).
And really, not all Regen Stalkers are HP capped, as not all Regen Stalkers are optimized with set bonuses or all the +HP accolades.
Not that I'm against more buffs for Stalkers. I've run SFs (including ITFs & LGTF) with Stalkers, but I also know some players who would never willingly invite them to the team. -
Quote:This. For all of the huffing and puffing about DPS comparisons, I'd say most players never even come close to building and maintaining a level of play to get to that elusive top end.
Most people don't care if they have high DPS. Even when they IO out their toons. They usually care either more about defenses or getting all the purples they can (which don't help defenses at all).
For all that talk about high DPS a majority of players simply don't care if they can solo AV/GMs and some barely want to solo.
And when you get a team together, you can usually take out the AV, without anyone on the team having the uber DPS build.
This is me seeing this playing on Virtue however. Maybe the other servers are different. And I'm notsaying Virtue doesnt have players who want high DPS/Survival builds to solo such content, I would however say it falls into the 1% of the population.
For the people who've come to me on help on their builds, they've all wanted just one thing...to be more survival. Uber damage DPS is just a nice benefit if it can be fitted in over all that. -

Quote:o.OThere is a fuzzy line between balanced sets and generic sets. Axe is balanced nicely. To add more to it you would need to rebalance it. Reworking it so that it is more like a sword very easily crosses the line into generic blade set.
Axe is not a sword and I really do enjoy the fact it doesn't play like swords.
This suggestion degrades the set it would not enhance it.
Okay. How so? How does adding -Def to one attack, degrade the set? -
Quote:No. I don't have an Axe user. I've gotten one to level 12-16 before deleting it (this was a couple of years ago...Fire/Axe Tanker...I did love the costume).Which would make them the two most powerful weapon attacks in the game. Axe is already balanced with all the Tanker secondaries, so to add either -res or -def you would have to add it to all the Tank sets, which might happen someday, but it would be ridiculously unbalanced to ad it solely to BA.
What I have gotten to 32 (Broadsword), and to 50 (Katana, Claws, Dual Blades), I can tell you now, I have found -Def to not be a game breaker. In fact, late game, I don't even notice the -Def, when compared to sets without it.
Why?
Because I have enough ACC (I like to take Tactics also), that I'm not missing to begin with. So, it could just be my own experience, but -Def is nothing special.
Also, I said, out of all the bladed weapons, why is Axe the only one missing it. No big deal. And was just a suggestion. -

Quote:Wasn't even thinking Force Multiplier. I was thinking purely on concept.Agreed. As I see it, Scrappers aren't missing ranged attacks or mez effects that need be rounded out by their APPs (which was the original concept behind them, to "round out" your capabilities"); they're missing buffs and debuffs that would allow them to get some moderate in team force multiplication going on. Rather than getting some crappy mez effects and worthless range ST attacks, I'd rather that Scrappers got some team buffs and/or heals (though I'd hope the devs would actually learn from the mistakes of the current melee APPs and forgo using a design that makes APPs useless for some ATs and a godsend for others that sends their effectiveness through the roof).
Telekinesis APP for Scrappers
Lift
Telekinesis
Force Shield (Single Target Ally Buff - 5% Defense to All)
Ta da! Three powers (ranged attack, hold, bubble ally) and my Scrapper just started to feel like a melee Telekinetic!
And style them up! Soul Storm is the best looking hold in the game! -
Forget armor set!
Pick a Control Set and grab Earth Assault!
If that doesn't work...WP! You can never go wrong with WP! -
I actually prefere Scrappers over any AT, however, it's my RAD/DP Defender I tend to bring to teams, as I find it adds so much more to TFs (namely STF, KahnTF, and ITF)
-
Quote:As already said, and as said in my original post (did you even read it?), claws does have -Def in one attack.Because in weapon sets all the other ones would be swords an axe would be.... well an axe? Why don't claws have the -def too then? Or Maces? I'm sure there are maces with pointy sides out there. Or Arrows for that matter?
Maces are blunt force, not the bladed action of Axe.
I was really thinking only melee with the suggestion as well. And why doesn't Archery have a -Def attack? -
Much like Nethergoat, I just enjoy the game.

Still havent found that one build I want to call my own, but I keep trying! -

Quote:I didn't say change. I said add. Not even to all the attacks, just one.it already has a secondary effect. knockdown. there is no need to change it.
*shrug* Not that big of a deal. I don't even have an axe user. I just started to wonder why Axe was the only blade weapon set to lack it after I was discussing the Axe set with a friend who has one. -
I thought my post said why. >_>
For the proc and because all the other bladed weapons have it.
No other reason at all.
-
It needs -Def tacked on somewhere.
Claws, Dual Blades, Broadsword, Katana (and thusly Ninja Blade) all bladed weapons, all have at least 1 attack with -Defense.
Battle Axe needs this too!
Give us the ability to slot a -resist proc! Tanks could use this a lot!
Think of the Axe users! -
Quote:It seems good for early levels or when I don't have Tactics and slotted ACC, and ACC set bonuses. And serious big bad fire users seem far and between.I dunno, I've come across the same feel of dilemma.
All I typically find it as is just a proc thing and that's about it. Well that and a set mule.
*shrugs*
So, so far, it seems a good PvP power, but skippable. -
...is it worth taking?
With ACC taken care of plus Tactics, the -Defense doesn't seem to helpful, however it does allow for slotting a -Resist Proc.
The -Fire Damage is situational (though likely great in PvP).
And other powers in the set stacks ont he -Recharge.
Is there something I'm over looking? -
Nevermind. Decided to stick with Cold/Ice

May not be the best, but I was never one to PvP with optimal builds anyways. -
...trying to decide between Cold/Dark Defender or Cold/Psi.
I like Zone play and Arena Duels.
Dark Blast has the self heal. Psi looks to have the range, and if I'm not mistaken, I could always go for the placate proc in Will Domination.
Really, I'm not sure which to go with, as Concept wise, it works great both ways. So some thoughts would be nice.
