Quote:I'm all for mixing up the Dual Pistol set, but I fear the lose of Hail of Bullets.Well, you obviously really like Dual Pistols. lol
Sounds a bit like my Aggressor idea, except A) Dual Pistols is just Ranged and not a mixture of Ranged and Melee like the Assault sets are and B) I didn't think using straight Defense sets was such a great idea with a ranged attacker for a few reasons. Besides the fact that 4 other ATs use them already (and they're all Melee), considering how much you'd have to nerf them to keep things fair (unless you gave Aggressors insanely low Mastermind-level hit points), it would make the secondary set rather boring and practically useless. That's why I decided it was best to mix them with some boosts and mezzes to keep things balanced and interesting. What's nice about the Aggressor is that the player can choose to build him with heavy focus on ranged attacks and defense without him becoming too overpowered, or more like a Scrapper, Dominator, or Blaster depending on personal preference. Kind of like an Epic AT, only not as... epic. But epically fun.
As far as the other amalgamated Assault-style sets you listed, some of them just seem awkward and/or unnecessary.
Now, I don't need it to be a nuke, it can be just a typical level PBAOE (though possibly a little more damaging as I think it has a longer animation), but I would want it in a Dual Pistol Set!
And coming up with 9 powers for a MA + Dual Pistol set, would likely be hard for me to do since I love a lot of the attack animations in both sets. -
I'm going to see this movie.
That said, I find it funny that Superman and Jimmy Olsen (of Superman Returns) team up for this new movie. -
Going to see it in like 30mins! \o/
Bad reviews be damned! If it entertains me, I'll be happy!
I don't trust critics. Even the one who I trust! has been wrong before (imo of course). -
It doesn't seem to be working with joining Arachnos, your fellow Nictus, your fellow Loyalists, or your fellow Resistance.

Comic Book Bad *** AT
Primaries:
Dual Pistols (Just as is!)
Pistol/Blade (Blade in one hand, Pistol in the other)
Dual Pistols/Martial Arts (Doesn't redraw to use attacks, has a mixture of DP's and MA's powers)
Blade/Martial Arts (See DP/MA)
AR/Martial Arts (See DP/MA)
Secondaries:
All available Armor sets!

We can start the new AT off simple with just Dual Pistols Primary and bring the rest over later. -
Quote:I'm going to tell you the truth here.Saving costumes is one thing, saving proportions is another.
Say you want to change the proportions of the toon you have, being consistent you need to change all the costume's proportions. To make use of the save function, you need to change one costume, save it, then take that saved costume, load it, then completely reconstruct the original costume for that slot from memory just to keep the same proportions. Now think of that in x4. Simply loading it does NOT in any way cut it as reasonable.
I've done this LOTS AND LOTS of times.
I really didn't find it difficult. -
Quote:What was the challenge/difficulty in running bosses? When the solution to a problem requires me to simply make a different character, that is what I consider a "bad" challenge. Years ago, I complained that running bosses were hard to catch. People told me to immobilize or slow them. When I exposited that I had no such powers, (Kat/SR Scrapper), people shrugged their shoulders in response.
Not I said "require me to use all my abilities," not "swap abilities I have for other abilities" or "go get more items/powers/etc." Challenge, as such, comes down to what a player does in real time, not how a player prepares beforehand, at least in my eyes. "Challenges" where the only difficulty comes from having minimum build requirements, after which point they become easy are exactly the wrong kind of challenge, and those are the sum total of challenges we have.
Build stronger. Optimise more. Grind for more "phat lute." Bring more people. The game encourages us to trivialise challenges by building to prepare. These, I am sorely uninterested in. I don't play City of Heroes as a puzzle game where the point is to find the right build to tackle each challenge. I play it like an action game, where MY build has to tackle each challenge, or I do indeed walk away and never try again.
The Boss is running away!
Proceed to out run them! -
Quote:Wow. I still want to see it! But, do I wake up early enough to see it before work or wait? :O Those are just some HORRIBLE reviews.[NOTE: This is a necropost but since Sucker Punch is opening in theaters today I figured this thread is more relevant now than ever.]
Well as I sadly feared Sucker Punch is getting pummeled by the critics. RottenTomatoes has it rated at 23% as of the time I'm writing this post. Even the few "positive" reviews are less than flattering. I'm still probably going to go see it for the "cool visuals on a big screen" factor. But so much for the vague hope that there'd be an actual story/plot behind the pretty pictures. *shrugs* -
Running a TF team is like running a regular mission team.

Also, for the most part, leading any team is basically this...
"You know how to play your character. Go out and kill things!"
The only real choice for the leader is "Do we stealth or not?" "Do we need to pull" (which is hardly ever) and "Pull Romi to the side or rush him" -
Now if we had more options on these, I may select to redeem the reward more often.
As it is now, I usually only pick the will o wisp and one time the Mini Mecha Man (and that was only because it seemed like a cool "Look at my remote control toy!"
)

Quote:I hear this, and realize we still need a Dual Pistol/Armor AT just do I can have the best of both worlds!Basically what it comes down to for me is this:
The visuals of each particular power are just one thing adding to looking cool, but there are more.
For instance: if you leap into a LARGE group of mobs and fight an epic battle, doesn't it look cooler to come out on top standing there possibly scratched but dominantly in the center of the group as the last few mobs fly off of you in their incapacitated state than it does to get owned in a visually pleasing manner and end up doing pro floor inspection with bored mobs stood around you?
Yet aesthetics as such aren't the fuel that gets you there. -
I like the idea! Only because it upsets so many people!
Really. A one time 1-2 slots as a vet reward won't make that big of a difference. It'll make a bit of a difference sure, but nothing so drastic to be OMG! I don't have it over.
And for that reason alone, a one time, +1-2 slots on a character would be AWESOME!
In fact, when I say this, I want it to actually be 1-2 slots! You click [Accept Reward] and it rolls on the table a 50/50 chance for 1 or 2 slots!.
The outcry! The constant rerolling of new toons who rolled 1 slot. IT WOULD BE AWESOME! -

Cool looking!
Dual Blades, Dual Pistols, Martial Arts, Electric Melee...these are a few of my favorite things! -
Quote:I don't understand how your status protection is falling, when it's all toggle bases, except for your Immobilize Protection, which is in Burn (and thusly used all the time).Everyone is pretty spot on about the defense. It's not to difficult to get your s/l to 30 percent and the change is quite noticable. I have a fire/fire sitting at 41 % to s/l and 33% to melee and even WITH a purple pill (he has tough and weave slotted as well) he's no where near as survivable as my soft capped to type invul/dm (he's the closest I've seen to unkillable) or soft capped to position SD/dm. I really had to adjust my expections of this secondary.
Originally, I was curious how an IO'd resist set would do compared to a defense based set. What I found was without defense debuff resists (which they won't get), resist based scapper sets will never approach the tanker survival levels that the defense and layered mitigation based sets do. Defense debuffs are everywhere and resist based secondaries get hit by everything. They need something though. For example, my status protection drops much more frequently on my fire compared to invul and SD.
Are you not watching your end? -
Turning Cobra Strike into a clone of Crane Kick, with a chance for stun instead of CK's chance for KB!

You're level 50, so debt isn't a big deal. And I ran a TM TF last night at 1 hour 20mins. Not the quickest I've ever ran it, but it's not that bad

Director 11 is what slowed us down. -

Quote:I recall one episode where a watcher cut off an immortals head, and Duncan and another Immortal got the quickening. It is quite possible that despite laughing underwater that Connor did not use all his air supply.
In any event, yes the series did alter some things and clarify a few others such as the fights being one on one only, and gave expansion on the holy ground rule other then "it's tradition". So it's all good.
Fights are one on one since the power only goes to the one that did the beheading: in season 1 when Amanda first appeared, Duncan beats down the villain of the week but before he beheads him Amanda stepped in and cut down the villain and the power went to her while Duncan stood and watched. This was shown again in ep 100 when Duncan cuts down Caspian and dives off the bridge with the power flowing to him and not to Silas who was only a few feet away. At first my impression was that fights were one on one out of an unspoken code of honor until these two events showed why.
Holy Ground: not just "tradition" but a major implication that the heavens do not take kindly to an immortal killing another immortal on holy ground. Whether this applies to an immortal killing a mortal on holy ground isn't known, but it doesn't apply when a mortal kills and immortal on holy ground as shown when the Hunters killed Darius in his church.
Makes one wonder if the immortals are angels and devils fighting for control of Earth for their respective side..... -
Quote:You know. Thinking back to the WW animated movie. It does talk about them needing to get out to the rest of the world again and not stay locked away on the island. There are some things that I don't need to see in completion to agree or disagree with. If they proposed giving Wonder Woman a gambling addiction, I wouldn't need to see that to think it didn't fit the character. If they proposed making her made of blue energy, I wouldn't need to see that to think that it didn't fit the character. If they proposed making her male, I wouldn't need to see that to think that it didn't fit the character.
You keep focusing on whether the show will work. While I did predict that it would fail much earlier in the thread (but I don't claim to be an "expert" on anything of that nature), that is not the topic of our conversation.
I'm just saying that Wonder Woman would not be CEO of a company named after her homeland that sells merchandise branded with her superhero identity, and I think having her do that shows a lack of respect for the character. If you disagree, that's fine. I just want to be clear when expressing my opinion, and make sure that you understand that my opinion is not "she cannot be changed in any way for a TV show".
This can be a bit of the way for them to do it. -
Quote:I always thought it was more like she can take LOTS of smashing damage. Her other resists are lacking! You know, it's hard to tell, I don't regularly read the comic, and when I do it's not clear. She still poses with the bracelets and deflects rays and stuff, but then she goes toe to toe with an enraged Superman. Sure he broke her arm, but she also survived a fall from low orbit in that fight. She clearly and regulary survives thing things that WAAYYYY over power a simple bullet. I get the feeling it's not set, it it's something about she has to be actively wanting to be invulnerable.

Quote:What's sad is people foret his other great shows!Actually based on what's happened over the last several years it seems like the exact reverse to me. I'm guessing Kelly didn't start out with this idea about a "generic superheroine show" and somehow managed to grab the Wonder woman license to try to legitimize it. It seems more like the Wonder Woman license was floating around in limbo waiting for someone to pick it up and try to make something out of it.
There have been several big names associated with trying to write scripts for Wonder Woman in the last few years. As has been mentioned even people like Joss Whedon were related to the property not too long ago.
My guess is that they finally decided to trust the property to Kelly simply because he has a track record of successful TV shows. Now I'll tell you point-blank I NEVER watched Ally McBeal myself and always thought the concept of the show sounded completely silly. But no one can deny that it had five seasons worth of episodes and was well liked by many people. I guess there's no accounting for taste...
I think the true irony here is that people are going nuts over the slim possibility that Kelly might be able to make a -successful- show out of this mess. We all know the chances that this'll become "Wonder McBeal" is about 99.9% and there are people here who hate that idea with a passion. But what would be worse than someone perverting their beloved amazon warrior into "Wonder Mcbeal" than to have "Wonder McBeal" actually become a popular show? I almost want to see that happen just to laugh.
Picket Fences being one of them!
