I saw it. I liked it. As has been stated, not the best out there, but Rotten Tomatoes really is off on the 20%, which just goes to show imo that critics really do have a tendency to just repeat what another one says.
I do see wasted potential though! DC should take a clue from Marvel and link their movies. Which they could still do, but it would mean GL is the first super hero and not Superman.
It wouldn't have needed much either. A news report playing in the background and they'd have had it. -
I've actually found the difference between 41% and 45% to be noticable...when doing things most wouldn't want to do...like AV soloing...without inspirations.
If you're not into that, you really don't need to worry.
Also a bit more of a buffer on some of the -Defense happy enemies.
If you have your build, and you've found 41% to be enough for what you do, then it's enough
I wouldn't worry about the PvP IO unless you plan to play the WM/WP Brute as one of your mains. Or, you just happen to have the Hero Merits saved up due to not needing them for anything else (such was my case on my second purchase of it) -
Okay, first, with DB/WP you don't need Hasten. In fact, it's a waste! No really. It is. Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals -> Repeat for Single Targets, want more AOE then fit in Sweep.
When I was using the Sweep Combo (I don't anymore) in normal PvE...
Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals -> Sweep Combo -> Repeat, didn't need any +RCH what so ever.
Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals -> Repeat for ST's is easy to obtain.
And Hasten does nothing for your Secondary and so far nothing for your Incarnate Abilities.
This is my DB/WP Scrapper build, easy enough to use it for a Brute build (actually I'd say it's even better as the Brute can slot in another Performance Shifter Proc in Superior Conditioning...which I really wish Scrappers got instead of Conserve Power).
I'd say use this build to use to reference for your DB/WP on what to slot for. I'm not saying it's the BEST build, but it's worked quite well for me. The +Regen is basically a wash, go for +Def, +HP, and enough +RCH to run BF-Attack Vitals, and you will be golden.
Spiritual Alpha to increase your HP and healing even more, and then grab Rebirth +Heal/+Regen Destiny for even more survival (I found it to be better than Barrier myself). With this build you won't run out of end either.
Obviously you want Sweep Combo, and look to want a travel power (Ninja Run really does fit my concept perfectly), and I use Hover for verticle and it was handy on soloing Silver Mantis.
I also went with the Reactive Proc (common I know...but it's -resist plus the -resist procs are just nice, and the added fire damage...wheee). -

Scott and Emma Frost.
Spider-Man and Black Cat
Spider-Man and Shadowcat (ultimate universe...gaaah...I feel like they were broken up just because they felt they needed to have him get with Mary Jane)
Other good ones have already been mentioned. -

Seeing a lot of "Fun/Enjoyable movie" comments from the non critics who've caught it. So I'm taking this as "Masterpiece? No. Summer Blockbuster Actiony Popcorn Movie? yes."
-
Reviewers did have the same complaint about Galactus (a giant cloud basically) being the villain in FF4 2, didnt they?
-
Quote:I'm actually fine with this. Still don't care for the Wonder Woman and Superman pairing.
-
Quote:Not bad. But that review has me seeing one thing about it, as do the others...should be a money maker.
Summer Blockbusters arent known for being the best story wise. But it seems the action is done well, that the general movie going population will likely enjoy it. -
Maybe they didn't include RotJ because it was direct to video (or had a very limited release).
-
Still seeing it.
I'm seeing a lot of "Good but misses the mark" "Lots of action, summer block bustery goodness" they all seem to be knocking it for "serious at times, comedy at others"
Havent read a review from a GL fan, but I wouldn't trust a GL fan to review the movie to save their lives as a lot of fan reviews end up like this "Doesn't follow the comic so it sucks" (paraphrasing of course). -
Does it have to be Mu Mastery? Soul Mastery will get you better ST DPS with Gloom and you can take Dark Obliteration for additional AOE.
-
I've felt more durable with /WP, /INV (not even at 50), /SR, and /Shield than I have with /Regen (that isn't Katana...Broadsword is likely the same, but I don't care to play that set)
-
I'd like to see Regen get put to a level where one doesn't feel the need to use Katana or Broadsword to get it to the levels of the other sets.
Fire Armor makes up for it's squishie feeling with a whole lot of damage.
Regen doesn't. :/ -
Not sure if it'd be possible, but if they were to change it, I thought it would be awesome if they made her a roaming exo badge type of deal.
No need to hit her, just wander near her, then she dives for a few minutes then pops back up.

Quote:Sorry. Won't happen. I know this, because I don't work that weekend, and I know from experience the only way I can make these things is if I'm unemployed.Has there been any announcement of when we will have the next double XP weekend?
I think that 4th of July weekend would be *purrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect*!
(*crosses paws*)
When I'm working, I'm always working that weekend! It doesn't fail. So, sorry, but it's all my fault.

Quote:I'd have to disagree with you here. The previous script was to limited.Actually, it would probably make very few, if any, people happy. It won't free up as many "good names" as you think. This has been observed from previous times the script was run.
I've seen a few names that would make me happy to use and they have no global name attached to them. That means they have been inactive since late i3 or beginning of i4 (I don't recall when globalnames became active, just that they were after I joined in i3).
And for those without an active account, I'd say 3-5 years of inactivity is a good bet they're not on vacation.
So throw that net wider...see how many names get freed up on just saying 3+ years inactive, level 1-49. So this doesn't even take out the level 50's (which I'm all for if they've been inactive for that long).
Oh and also all trial accounts, no matter the level. -
Okay, here's my new build so far. Still want to beable to survive AVs with nothing more than possibly the Alpha Slot in play and without Inspiration use. Not sure if this is enough +Def with enough +HP to do such things.
Now with the Interface in use, possibly. Went for the -tohit/-regen (yes I know I can switch them out...but meh to that...so went with one not seen in much use...or so it seems Reactive is the popular choice). If it's enough -tohit maybe it can make a difference, I'm sure it can't hurt survival any.
Destiny I went with Ageless. I THINK with the use of consume and as long as it doesn't miss, I'm okay on END (I THINK) but Ageless's +RCH seems like it would benefit HF while obtaining a gapless Gloom-Haymaker-KoB-Gloom-Haymaker-Burn attack chain (that said with the gaps with the Alpha in use, I should still be doing over 210 DPS (and this isn't factoring in Fiery Embrace).
I'm also considering taking some +RCH from set bonuses out of the build, increasing some gaps in the DPS chain, for additional survival, as I may beable to pull off enough DPS for AVs without a gapless chain (unsure on this)

Quote:Interresting. My Fire/Dark Corr, Rad/DP Def, Dark/Ice Def, Dark/Sonic Def, Cold/Ice Def, didn't need teams to protect them.As others have said its simply the way the game is being run.
They dont want corruptors or defenders being actualy competent like comic book super heroes and villains.
I think they want them to remain side kicks that force everyone else to protect them.
Dont worry think of your self like Orko fromthe HeMan Cartoon...or maybe Snarf from the Thundercats...Twiki from Buck Rogers...or how about one of Dr. Who's Companions.(Not Ace though, and not Captain jack either)
Dark Miasma never has one feeling like a sidekick once IOs get involved
RAD/ well...I thought it felt more likely to faceplant than the Dark/'s but still, can be slotted to be pretty survivalable.
Cold/ felt tougher than Rad/ but not as survivable as Dark/.
And I haven't even played Traps/ yet, which I'm sure is likely pretty survivable.
Sooo...no idea where you get the idea they feel like sidekicks. -
I do have the experience with /ELA and /FA on Brutes around the same level of investment.
/FA will feel like it survives less. /FA will feel like it needs a bit more END. /FA will feel like you're killing things SO MUCH QUICKER!
/ELA will feel like you're never hurting for the BLUE! /ELA will feel tougher. /ELA will still feel pretty squishie compared to other sets out there!
Spines/ELA Scrapper lvl 44
Katana/FA Scrapper lvl 50
ELM/FA Scrapper lvl 50
DB/ELA Brute lvl 18
ELM/ELA Brute lvl 50
SS/FA Brute lvl 50
FA/FM Tanker lvl 50
FA/SS Tanker lvl 30
And I'm pretty sure I'm missing one or two 50's in that list of /ELA and /FA users.
/FA is just squishier. However, I also consider /ELA's Power Sink to be part of it's defensive tools, not just it's +END power.
/ELA also felt sturdier with +DEF added on, more so than my /FA. And that's comparing a /ELA Scrapper to a /FA Brute.
Out of those two builds however, I'd like choose DM/ELA over the EM/FA. On the plus side to EM/FA over other EM/ combo's is that you have FA to let loose with some decent AOE to help you not feel so bad when your team is killing off the targets of TF and ET while you're mid animation.
Admittedly, some of that mid animation kill steals could be stopped if people played above +1 Difficulty. But I notice a lot of times, if I'm in a PuG and I'm not the star holder, the diff is most of the time set to 1/1.
Both DM and EM are single target oriented sets. So /FA will help with the AOE a lot more. Though you may also go EM/FA/Pyre and DM/ELA/Soul (or Mu) for a bit more AOE.
Squishieness aside, while you (the OP) may have put in some time investment (maybe even IO investment) into these two Brutes, it's not that hard to just level a new one if you're only thinking of using one of these two for "time invested already" purposes, and not "I love these concepts".
After all that...I'll suggest going EM/FA. It has one distinct advantage...it's not a popular combo, so you won't see many other EM/FA Brutes (or Tanker equivalents) out there.
Of course, I don't see many DM/ELA out there, but I've seen more of them than I have of EM/FA, but again it's not like some big difference (and most people want some AOE in the build, so I think more and more are losing interrest in DM, at least, that's how it seems to me in game...others experiences may vary). -
Was I the only one hoping to see some rocket booster action there?

Quote:the movies were never going to follow the comic continuity 100%I want to see the movie. But the continuity of the movies thus far really seems to go against the X-men, which I adored.
1) Emma Frost was seen after Prof-X and really made her mark trying to get Kitty Pryde first, and she was a younger woman. Charlse was bald and older when she arrived on the scene. ((Her Diamond form is a very late adition)). She was only created when the Hellfire Club was made in the 80's because they needed to progress the Dark Phoenix saga, which the Helfire Club initiated through the toon Mastermind. So Emma would not do much of anything until well beyond two classes of X-men.
2) Original team was Beast, Angel, Ice Man, Marvel Girl, and Cyclopse. Havoc and Polaris joined just before they were all captured on the island they all got stuck on that was eating them.
3) Storm, Wolverine, Banshee, Night Crawler, Thunderbird. (Banshee, Sunfire, and Wolverine had been introduced in other comics but then joined the X-men) This all happend in the 70's in Giant Sized X-men.
4) Mystique was not even an idea until the 70's and therefore for continuity would never have been in this type of prequal, and she actually started as a Miss Marvel enemy. Well, that was one of her starts actually.
Soooo...the rule is. Nothing on screen can capture 4-5 Decades of comic continuity without using characters that people A) Either don't know, B) didn't like and didn't sell the comics or C) people "Now" Associate with the X-men current roster.
X-men Origins Wolverine, was...other than the Third X-movie, was litterally the most continuity breaking of all the movies.
I think First Class...while entertaining is going to be as breaking. But it does not bother me that much.
They never could.
If they did, Scott, Jean, Beast, Angel, Iceman would all be in their 60's now, and Professor X would likely be dead.
I can see complaints about the movies not sticking to their own continuity, but complaints about the movies not sticking to the comic continuity was always going to be there.
Hell, look at DC movies, they don't stick to continuity at all either.
