Quote:Actually, no I don't think it's a trend, and you also manipulated the Witch Booster to get what you want on it.Yes, actually, because the Feedback threads seem to get nothing but ignored these days. There is no sign of Dev viewing or even interest once they've been thrown up, let alone any actual commenting.
If they HAVE looked at them, well, NONE of it seems to have made it in game, another pretty solid sign of being ignored I would think.
Sure, Steampunk women do have a slight tendency to look a little more burlesque, perhaps. But no long jackets at all and no waistcoats? In Steampunk? Not a great understanding of the genre there. Not every woman in Steampunk wears a corset.
It's an annoying general trend that's becoming more and more prevalent, and the Devs still haven't seemed to have cottoned on that a lot of people are not best pleased with that.
Take those witch top pieces and use the TIGHT option. That way you don't show all that skin you're saying they're doing.
Barbarian wasn't much different from the males, in that they had nothing but show skin pieces as well.
Martial Arts, IDF, Vanguard, Science, Clockwork, Cyborg, Mutant, ect...ect.
But I will agree on one thing, the female outfit doesn't feel Gunslinger. This I agree with.
Still, just retreading the Feedback thread and what makes anyone think this will get more dev attention?
I bet it gets the same dev attention. -
Quote:You know, I've played on a few different servers. Mostly Virtue and Victory to be sure, but I've been on Guardian, Justice, Freedom, Infinity and Exalted...Let's not forget the suggestive Silver Mantis dialouge.
Before combat: Scorpion is going to owe me a lot for babysitting this nerd.
Combat start: C'mon, heroes! I'll take you all at once!
At 75% Life: Mmmmm! You hurt me so good!
At 50% Life: The pain! The anger! Yes! You really know how to treat a girl!
At 25% Life: Oh yes! OH YES! This is a battle!
Defeated: That's it...
I'm spent
Take the code, you earned it.
This type of character is actually pretty common in the game by the plyaers

Okay really? Really? Had to start a whole thread about this when it was going on in the Feedback Thread?
And personally, I think the trend arguement fails on the Steampunk, unless you're just going "I want the jackets!" -
Quote:OMG YES! Totally agree! I wish my WP Scrapper had Reconstruction over RTTC!I am so happy with these changes. I liked playing */WP scrappers, but always wished they had a self heal instead of RttC. Now I will be playing */WP stalkers just for that reason. Stalkers will never replace scrappers, but I can see them being more useful on teams.
Are they lowering the cast time for Assassin Strike as well? -
I got my first commission in today! \o/ And of course I had to get it from the same artist who has done both my avatars, as she's got so many style I love her work!

BrandX and her sister Strong Girl!

Quote:Last I knew, that's exactly what it did as per the storyline. It'd only be a retcon if the original arc repalced Tyrant with a clone.
You went to defeating the actual Tyrant, to the new storyline saying, Oh wait, that was a clone, when before that was never the case. -

Quote:Actually I think the last one is basically bull. We get it, you don't like her costume. It's a world of superheroes, they were there outfits how they want.As someone in the beta forums put it, the Resistance leadership is now in the hands of:
- someone whose judgement is so poor she actually thought Mother Cleavage (sic) was a force for good
- someone who has pretended to be off her rocker for so long she is now, actually, off her rocker
- someone who can't figure out how pants work
Not feeling the happiness here, nope.
It's like complaining about Punky Brewster wearing two different color shoes.
She could of worn the same shoes, but it wasn't her style. Not to mention the one bandana she wore on one leg.

Quote:Yes I remember. I just take the Well as an extention of it. Mind you this doesn't mean I care for the lore.Remember back when we could explain our powers however we wanted?
Original lore, by the way, explained "surges" of power by having an item ("Pandora's box") which, over centuries or millenia, "accumulated the potential and creativity of humanity." Every so often, it would be found, someone would throw open the lid and all of that would escape, people affected by it becoming seen (depending on era) as gods/demons or heroes/villains.
(Quick google search - Wikipedia entry on COH:
While at the fountain, they threw open the lid to Pandora's Box (holder of the golden light of Creation) which caused a dramatic increase in the number of superhumans worldwide and is directly responsible for their proliferation in the City of Heroes universe.
Paragon Wiki entry - Pandora's box (lore) :
Pandora's Box is an ancient artifact that was discovered by Marcus Cole and Stefan Richter, who later became Statesman and Lord Recluse respectively. Little information has been revealed about the box, but it is known that it housed the Golden Light of Creation, as well as all of mankind's creativity over the past millenia. Opening the box released the creative energy out into the world, starting another golden age of superhumans.
Note no mention of an insane Well being the source of all power, etc, etc.)
"The Well" - especially a talking well explaining how "You are now on a fast path to power" - didn't exist as they're pushing it (note how they've made locations such as the Well of the Furies "tied to" a main entity called "The well.")
And yes, while Pandora's Box is a bit cheesy, it released potential and creativity - which explains a surge of, say, inspiration to train harder and take back city streets, even with no superpowers, or the inspiration to create a suit of battle armor or new tech, letting you get as powerful as you can (slotting, inventions, etc.) without being beholden to an insane interdimensional "well."
But then, I never understood the complaints about the Lore, when people so readily broke the lore even when it was simpler than it is currently.

Quote:True enough. And I know when I play redside, the level 15ish arc that involves rescuing Ghost Widow is one of my favorite arcs and one of those arcs I never want to miss.Well I think that's just one of the problems with the format of the game. The only time we really see characters is via missions, and in that they're usually either A) Objectives (beat up/save Hero/Villain X) or B) NPC Tagalongs that might spout a little dialogue or C) Taskforce contacts (All the signature TFs)
None of those is conducive to developing characters in a way that players can get attached to.
I think this is partially why we're seeing the SSAs and the use of more cut scenes as a way to illustrate these characters through how they get to interact with others instead of simply being these static objects or drones we see in missions.
We never seem them when they're not 'on the clock' as it were, so we only get to see them in quick snapshots that are more about them being set pieces.
Edit: I'll agree with Eva though, she sums it up well. Ghost Widow is a pretty good example, I think because she has a number of missions that involve her back story and actually involve her. A problem with so much of the Freedom Phalanx is they're all pretty background characters, their task forces don't even involve then, except maybe as a tangent (ex: Citadel's 'children')
Now I'm curious, as I havent made a redsider in a long while, if that stroy arc was gotten rid of in the new starting zone, or remains because you didnt obtain the arc untill after you left the zone if memory serves. -
Quote:I believe the video of Statesman throwing a rikti mothership showed just how powerful Statesman is, showed it just once, and now it's the go to "Statesman is MAry Sue"Any time they tell us how awesome an NPC is even though the NPC is not actually awesome players begin saying Mary Sue, because informed ability is a common Mary Sue trait.
When you show that an NPC is awesome while still being a well-realized character, you get a Ghost Widow. When you tell us they're awesome and nothing more, you get a Blue Steel. When you tell us they're awesome over and over, and that everyone thinks so, and that even our characters think so, players start saying Mary Sue. -
Quote:Really? I never saw the appeal in herOh yeah, she looks great, but that's pretty much all she has going for her.
But you knew that's not what I meant.
Any time they have a NPC do ANYTHING awesome, even if it's just for awesome story reasons, players begin saying Mary Sue!
Show how awesome a NPC is suppossed to be, so they can have a good story and it's "They're more awesome than my character and that's not fair, as this should be all about me!"
Of course, never mind as I've mentioned many times, taking on a boss threat level enemy never did seem like a "Look at me I'm mighty!" type of deal. Taking on actual AVs/Heroes! Now that's "I'm an equal!"
Because well, hey, usually those signature NPCs require a team for most

Quote:They both have gods under their belt, who by my understanding of the Well of Furies and the incarnate content, thusly linked to the well.... huh?
Mu and the CoT are busy fighting their own private little millennias-old war and have, to the best of my knowledge, absolutely nothing to do with the Well of the Furies. And Rularuu? Uhm...
If all powers come from the well, then the Mu and CoT god(s) would be linked to the well, and be gods/incarnates themselves.
Mind you, I have no problem with the Praetorian storyline myself. Though, as I've stated before, for where theyre going with it, my main would of done it differently (like Katie never would of went back into the box...so I dont run that content with my main). -
-
I don't know...
The idea of "I'm incarnate, now let me fight a LT level threat and minions" doesn't seem very "I'm an incarnate! Let me show you just how powerful I really am." -
Quote:Yes! yes they have! they've complained about everything!Has anyone ever, in the history of this game, complained about that? "Oh no, I fight Vazhilok and then Freakshow and then Nemesis, it just doesn't MAKE SENSE!"
Anyway, I'm with Night-Hawk. The exclusionary nature of the Praetorian invasion means that for 97% of the game, it might as well not be happening, so I'm just going to keep on ignoring it. -
Quote:Why not? The character was more than willing.and Tyrant is the Well's Champion because....?
that's my complaint really
I don't see why Incarnates were tied to Praetoria, other than because they were. If that makes sense to you.
Was there some player character that was willing to have their control taken from them? -
Quote:So they dont have 20 different stories going on at once, with players then complainging about there not being one solid enemy group?Yes but why do we need to saturate the game with one group. I am hoping we get some new groups that we see in a mission once or twice in game that seem more comic book-like. I just don't get a comic book feel from this game. Maybe it's just me but I am not as intrigued or drawn in as I am when I check out various comics. It's the same old and most of the enemies are not too interesting. Not much of a wow factor.

It's lose/lose no matter what they do.
-
Because there are people who made SR Scrappers before they ever gave Brutes SR and put a taunt aura in it.
They shouldn't have it added when they don't want it, just because Brutes (and then Tankers) obtained it and had one put in. Want a SR with a taunt, make a tanker/brute.
That said, have you thought of going Shield or EA both of which have taunt auras and rely on defense? -
It's a no win situation really for the writers of the stories.
To much making any NPC look great, and people start saying "They're made out to be better than MY character"
To much writing added to the script and it becomes "OMG! Let it end! I can't take all this content being repeated at me!"
Not to mention no matter which way they go withthe plot line there will be "OMG! It didn't go the way I wanted and now I hate it!"
We've seen a lot of that last one.
What may help, is if they started back up the CoH comic and made it part of continuity. But then, we also have the same problems as comics have. New writers changing things up.
If the devs said "Look, she's a great leader even if the game mechanics dont show it" people will be "That spoon feeds it and thus is wrong."
Best bet. Use your imagination to fill in the gaps. If you lack an imagination. Try harder? >_>;; -
If I remember correctly, replacing Lunge with Throw Spines is better DPS.

MJ: Tiger. You just hit the jackpot.
*she puuls him into the shower and the last thing you see is a close up of their wedding rings* -
Bought 5 of the LotG +RCH, thinking about 5 more. Don't have a plan to IO out a character fully this way, but they exemp to lvl 22 like the others I own, while gaining just a bit more defense when I'm 50.
-
Quote:Yup, bought 5 LotG +RCH myself, not because I needed them really, I have a bunch lying around, but mostly because I looked at them and went...113 points? That's cheap!Speaking as someone with OCD, I'd pay the 400 to make sure my points don't end in an odd number.
(Yesterday I had to buy 5 LotGs since they were 113 each. Then I got a 3-pack of XP boosters to get rid of the trailing 5, and then the 30-charge hammer temp because I couldn't find anything else that cost 20 points)
