  1. When you say mute, do you mean mute the game or mute from the sound cards software?
  2. I'd open the case and check to be sure all the fans are running. Also clean all the dust out, especially from the heat sinks.
  3. I have a low level rad/rad defender (not a healer) I could bring. Also have a low level blaster and scrapper as well.
  4. Wednesday and/or Friday nights work for me.
  5. Do you want new toons, or already established ones?? Either way, I'd be interested.
  6. I'm sure you did this, but have you tried resetting the bios? Usually a jumper on the motherboard. You might want to write down all the settings before you do this tho.
  7. Have you tried disabling the automatic restart on failure? It might give you a clue as to what's going on. Here's how to do it.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced, Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck the box before Automatically Restart.

It also said that the card's performance would be reduced to safe levels to prevent damage. I recently put a new power supply into my computer, which is powerful enough. But something may not be hooked up in there.
    Might that be it?
Is there a 6 pin power connector on the end of your video card? If so, is there anything in it?

    Logging

Is there a way to log when the game presents a lost connection to map server? Asking since I'm working a connectivity issue and that would be nice to have to compare to router logs, etc. I don't think the game is the cause, especially since the cable light is blinking on the modem, but the cable co is starting to think otherwise.
  10. It wasn't that long ago I was wondering the same thing. I was tired of the crackling that my soundblaster was doing. Did some research and found that alot of people have that problem. So I settled on this card, not top of the line by any means, but very affordable and clean sound (no crackling).

    CoH Crashing

First thing that comes to mind here is heat. First thing I'd do is to check all the fans (cpu, video card, case, etc) and make sure they're clean and running. You be surprise how much dust can get in there. You might also want to check the temperatures of things in there, I use speedfan myself, but there are other programs that do that as well.
  12. For what it's worth, I went with the Turtle Beach Montego DDL. To me it sounds much better than the Soundblaster did, but that might have something to do with no popping, cracking, etc anymore. Actually I didn't know how bad it did sound before.
  13. Complete and total shot in the dark here, but have you tried any of the older drivers? And by older I mean prehistoric? As in 7x.xx, 8x.xx, 9x.xx and so on. Granted it should have nothing to do with it, but at this point it can't hurt anything either. They can be found here.

  14. How did you get Windows on the "new" pc? Did you just move the hard drive then install the drivers for the new motherboard? At a minimum, no repair install of windows?
  15. First thing that comes to mind, is the fan on the card working?
  16. Since you can get into the bios, if you have any cd/dvd that's bootable, I'd change the boot order and see if it'll boot from them. If that works at least then you know that the motherboard cpu etc are probably ok, I say probably since I've seen stranger things happen.
  17. Currently I'm using a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. Lately I've started hearing cracking and popping sounds, at first noticed it only in game, now just about whenever it feels like it. Doing some research, I've found I'm not alone. So, time to replace it. Not being a big fan of onboard sound, currently on a Asus P5N-E SLI that does have that, but looking at other alternatives. Here's a few I think would be ok. Comments/suggestions?

If it's 1.1, yeah, I could see it taking an hour.
It was 2.0. And no, there was no overhead, I use a bootable cd of Acronis True Image for the operation. All this talk tho got me to thinking, and just ordered another external enclosure and drive for all my miscellaneous stuff.

How much patience do you have? lol. I used to use an external case that was USB only. Took over an hour to clone my internal drive over. Went to an esata case (the actual one in a previous post) and it now takes less than 20 mins (granted it's only my system drive and is only a 500g one at that).

-I didn't see any external hard drives that supported SATA.
-I saw a few different kinds of SATA PCI cards--this is an area I know nothing about navigating, RAID what?

    More thanks!
If you're going to use an external enclosure you don't want an external drive. You want an internal drive. You put the internal drive in the external enclosure and connect that to the sata card that you put in the pc.

For what you're doing, no need to worry about RAID/JBOD/etc. While a card that can do 3.0 Gb/s would be ideal, one that will do 1.5 Gb/s should suffice (I've never noticed any real difference in speed between the 2 in actual use). But you do want one that does esata.
