CoH Crashing

Greetings,

I logged in today, played for about 20 minutes and my system crashed. The screen would freeze, get distorted with strange colors, and the sound would loop. Only way to get past this is to turn off the power. Now everytime I select a toon the game crashes on the loading screen. I can play Dawn of War for 5 to 10 minutes before I get the same crash.

I was using Nvidia 190.62 drivers when I first crashed. Upgraded to 196.21 and I still get the crashes.

Computer is a little less than 2 years old:

I tried CoH Helper but got an error message. "Unhandled exception has occurred...."!", hexadecimal value 0x19, is an invalid character. Line 7, position 25519.

First thing that comes to mind here is heat. First thing I'd do is to check all the fans (cpu, video card, case, etc) and make sure they're clean and running. You be surprise how much dust can get in there. You might also want to check the temperatures of things in there, I use speedfan myself, but there are other programs that do that as well.

It sounds like a problem with the video card, and seeing that you are using an 8800 that isn't too big of a surprise.

The error message you get trying to run CoH Helper concerns me. Do you have the .Net Framework 2.0 installed?
