Anyway, not to get into an "X is better than Y!" discussion because it's a bit pointless, and not really quantifiable in this case - the main point is they're both fantastic sets, and you can't really go wrong either way. I'd just go for the one I find more enjoyable to play in that kind of decision, as they're both good in PvP and PvE

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Amen to that Cyber

I personally prefer /dark over /rad on a given toon. I find it more interesting and satisfactory to play and has a better feel for me. /rad is certainly easier to manage and more fire and forget uber (boring ), whereas /dark demands more skill in positioning, targeting and timing. It's more nifty and as mentioned earlier has 'tricks up his sleeve.' When played to excellence it can be just as dangerous as /rad but definately more satisfying.
  2. Overlooked there was no Irradiate in that! You could drop snipe or X -beam for that indeed. More value for your money.

And as Irradiator suggested, a recharge in cosmic burst works nicely.

Fighting higher then +3 doesn't happen that often if you're not PL'ing. This you can play pretty well with just 1 accu, you won't miss that much. Especially if you're keeping AIM and with having all that -def. That said a crucial power like LR could do with a 2nd accu.

The right timing and targetting of powers is the key though and provided when good at that you can use the big -def from RI most of times to your advantage supported by the -def from your attacks also when playing high lvl mobs. Ofcourse you can put in 2 accu in your attacks, but imo those slots in general can be better spend elsewhere for PvE.
  3. hey bruiser,

No need for 2 accu in your attacks. 1 is enough for pve normally. Especially since your rad/ attacks all have secondary -def and even some bypassing of defense. Not to mention the excellent def debuff from RI.

-RI needs 3 -to hit debuff and 1 or 2 def debuff and preferably 1 endredux.

    -AM slot earlier for endmod

-LR just asks for 2, 3 recharge

-Snipe will be much more usefull mid combat when you put in 1 or 2 interupt redux

-AIM is a redundant since you have high accu in the form of the secondary -def all around. And with around 20% the dam buff isn't that much tbh

-EMP would be better with 2 recharge instead of endmod. Endrain is not that hot in pve since mobs don't need much end to keep fighting full out. They seem to have a natural uber recovery and very low endusage of their powers anyway. Having up the best AoE hold in the game more often is far more usefull.

-cj swap def buf for end redux. the base def is so low the enhance does almost nothing.

-sj one jump will do. make it 2 if you really wanna jump further then the rest- but the slots can better be spend elsewhere

-health isn't that much use seeing your regen has low base value. If you want it over swift- which gives you better combat maneuvrability- you could just use the base slot and the other 2 somewhere else.

    Enjoy!
  4. Awesome isn't it?! Full bar before domination is recharged
  5. Well it mostly comes down to personal taste, but since you ask for opinions i'll share mine with you.

    Ice/ice!!

Espcialy when you wanna get to pvp with your dom. The slows and -recharge really are ace in pvp. Also powerboost is really, really sweet.
I have a fire/ice at mid lvl and an ice/nrg and plant/fire at high lvl. I wish now i had made an ice/ice (the grass is always greener...

I'm quite gutted with the nerfs to the pets. My imps usually don't last long (especially in big teams with big spawns) against most +2 or higher mobs and I even have aid other so i can heal them when really needed. Imps are hurt most by this nerf since they are so squishie already. This is especially the case for domi's as they lack true defensive powers or buffs.

Fire control is nice, but the imps just don't cut it anymore when fighting tough mobs and you lack any secondary effects. The imps die a lot...
Ice control has excellent recharge and speed debuffs. AA is just a godsend! And Jack is pretty sweet. He has a very nice CE (killer in pvp when you can get him next to your opponent!) -btw imo better drop this power from your domi as most of times it's hard to handle the agro it generates and the PBAoE is rather small, making you still vulnerable to ranged attacks which you'll be getting a lot more- and gives good support with holds, slows/recharge and pretty nice damage, albeit being a slow bugger :P

Fire/fire is good damage, but lacks in the debuffing and controlling department which ice/ice can bring and imo that is what makes a domi shine. Ice/ice is far better in that. And icy assault still feels very nice with decent dam and fast attacks, just not the good AoE dam fiery assault has to offer.

PvP wise there's no escape: ice/ice rocks!

    Pfft Ice/Kin ftw . .

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Obviously
  7. Go Fire/Dark!

PvP wise ice/rad is much better. PvE both are great.

Most doms play very much like blappers, just with less damage but far more safely. As such you cant get better than leaping with cj and acro really. hover is ok but slow and vulnerable to immobilise. I'd take leaping, especially if you plan to solo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hover used to be slow. Honestly, it is so much better now. It recently recieved a 10% speed increase, and you can now slot swift with fly speed enhancements. I have 3 SO speed enhancements in both hover and swift and it makes Hover nice and fast. I regularly overtake "running" players in missions. In fact it is such a nice speed that sometime I forget to switch back to fly after completing a mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Rotfl! 3 fly speed in swift
  9. Hey Moon; Fire/dark--> yummie!

Looks like you got a nice build there. Few things i'd like to bring into the light about this set

-HT: is not only a res, but a very nice (autohit!) stun + slow/-recharge/-regen too. Giving it 3 recharge really gives it the credit it deserves and making it a pretty good control power. Maybe put in a stun dur in there as well if you got a slot left.
-SF: does very well with 3 dam resis
-FS: slotting looks good. Before the duration is over the mobs should have 3rd degree burns anyway.
(Also the fear gets broken quite a bit by all the DoT you do (RoF!!) not to mention other people attacking)
-DN: might drop 1 endredux and slot it elsewhere (-->SF or HT)
-fluffy: swap the recharge for an accu and then all is well. You want her to hit, don't you?

To have both AIM and hasten in your build is very sweet, but theres no room in your build early on really and better take hasten over AIM dropping PG (which is a nice power though), especially when you don't have recharge in your attacks. Fireball/firebreath/RoF (and Inferno ofcourse) recharge pretty slow and hasten adds greatly to your damage output. Aim you can compensate by burning those red and yellow insps. Also can take it late in place of where you've planned hasten now.

You also might wanna consider taking black scorpion epic and get Web Envelope for that bit more controllerish style. At least thats how I like it The shield also doesn't do bad with yor massive -to hit either.

    Hope this helps. Have fun!
  10. Sheesh radio, you were mishing with me while you posted this!!! Yeah right, bio break uhuh!
  11. Haha, ice/cold is just the one im playing a lot lately, just as a fire/dark, and my good old dark/rad and...

Oh boy, i'm seeing a pattern here. What is happening to me? Almost everyday now I've got some crying trollers and domis on my doorstep asking me where did my love go?

Cold is a new set to me and i have to admit it feels really great. That I didnt make one earlier blows me really.
And about that fps drop; i've experienced something similar a few times now you mention it. Just didn't think of blaming it to /cold. I'm gonna be testing this soonish.

yeah gotta be the zone crashing that has killed it for many, its absolutely comical, wouldnt be so bad if we didnt ahve to smegging verify files every damn time

[/ QUOTE ]You don't, you can either set up a shortcut that alters the registry to remove VerifyOnNextLoad, or you can just bypass the updater.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, please tell us how you can bypass the updater?
  13. Me being a former troller freak and when i seriously started playing CoV only a few months back turned domi lover have (re)discovered corrupters. My domi's feel horribly alone lately, since i started playing a few corrs and found it brilliant.
Just a big up to all the corrs as i feel positive now- it's rare with all the utter nonsense and totally massive packed bags of idiocy this game keep bugging us with- but keep on rocking.
The more corrs the better a place this gaming world becomes!

Ah go on then... start the rant
  14. Hahaha, it's from the invention system
  15. I meant fire breath, but the keyword is latter: meaning i was talking about tthe VERY narrow cone of nightfall.Fire breath has pretty good cone indeed.
Wondering if hero builder got the maths right saying nightfall has 20 and firebreath 30 degrees. If firebreath has indeed 30 then nightfall must have something like 14 in comparison when firing it of...
  16. Everythings really good apart from black hole
  17. Mathematically it does work that way indeed, hence it's worth to use a cone attack at it's edges. Still you want to hit as many mobs as possible in depth as well, so it's kinda tricky to use it as it's most efficient.
I just remembered and dug up this saying cone enhancements do widen the cone:

"Slotting: Since Night Fall attacks in almost a straight line, I recommend sticking a Cone Range in there to widen the cone a bit, reducing the distance you have to step back to affect mobs. The rest should be damage, since a well-slotted Tentacles -> Nightfall -> Tentacles -> Nightfall is enough to kill most yellow minions, and oranges require an extra Tentacles"

From this good, but rather old guide.

I am talking about this for personal use -and usefullness- of range ehancements in nightfall and firebreath. The latter has such a small cone- a so silly small one that it's is actually not fair when you compare it to other cone attacks. (good thing to boost in next issue

Finding this guide again still makes me wonder about the cone enhancements. I've been testing this, but it's hard to get a good look at it.

oh yeah! kheldans dont have access to the Flight or Teleport power pools, so a pb with recall friend is a no go.

edit: id also recommend extracted essence at 32 for your ws and six slot it asap, its an awesome power and will help you out alot.

edit 2!: id also advise you take light form at 38 as when slotted properly it gives you 3 minutes of 85% resistance to most things and enhanced endurance recovery, you can also use any of your human powers whilst in this form, including your heals

    [/ QUOTE ]
oooh thats news too me! well I defiantly know what AT I'm gonna pick now then go WS!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    FYI:

    -Extracted essence = WS
    -Light form= PB
  19. Still my memory makes me believe range enhancement worked that way. But i'll go with the almighty Max' inspiring words
  20. Hmmm, i could have sworn range affected width of cones as well. Maybe my memory is leacking - sounds familiar? -, but I could have been wrong there. So they certainly don't extens width according to you max?
  21. Can anyone say wether range slots in cone attacks widens the cone ?

It used to work like that long time ago, but i can remember vaguely that they removed that effect in some patch long time ago so range enhance only would affect the depth (range) and not the width of the cone anymore... (linky of patchnote maybe? )

Been looking on the forums, but as we all know the search option is very bad
  22. Totally with Dawn here. Played many different trollers in many different pvp settings, but 2,3 shotting squishies is in general just impossible. Damage wise trollers were absolutely not overpowered in pvp.

PLayers with skills, good teamwork and the proper build are 'overpowered' regardless AT :P
  23. [ QUOTE ]
personally i won't, i'll grab Hasten/SS and have Inertial Reduction for the verticle travel.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally i'd take sj pool for acro. priceless especially for a kin...

I deleted my fire/kin cor in his late teens as it was quite a dissappointment and i didn't have the patience anymore to persevere till late 30's tbh, then again so was my fire/kin troller which i was about to delete in his late 20's but happily didnt't as it turned out my most thrilling ride to 50 starting his early 30's so ...

All in all fire/dark (which i made later on and suits me better) and fire/kin can both very nice.

Have fun anywhich way you go!

P.S check out the pretty nice fire/kin guide -with original approach (use of presence pool and thus getting you a taste of that excellent fire/dark feel ) here
  24. It depends a bit.
I just love the ST immob on my ice domi. Stacks slow and - recharge and that's golden. The forementioned building up domi is a nice side effect too as is the not bad base dam with fast activation and good recharge.
And indeed i can keep nasty lts and bosses stuck for a long time around the corner or behind a crate/box/whatever for example, get out of LOS while the rest of them is getting hammered
But i have to say, non of my other domis have taken the ST immob, but chillblain just pops in the area of goodness because of the secondary effects.
  25. Hmm, just wondering: does the slow resist from arctic fog counter the horrendous slow from earth thorncasters quicksand or any other slows for that matter?
