    Fire / Mental?

I got a 50 SS/Will Brute purpled out for conservative damage dealing. The concept for this guy was all along max damage with a glass jaw. Researching that thread on Ancillary pools now.

    Fire / Mental?

Thanks a lot for the help from everyone posting to my many threadlines. Am very happy with the Fire/Mental build I am running.

Now I should start thinking about hitting 40. What pool should I pick for this guy to finish him off. We call them Patron Pools redside, kind of lost here.

Anyways, I am setting this guy up mainly as a AoE death dealer, with single target very strong seconday. I plan to purple him out ASAP. Any thoughts as to where I should head with that in mind?
  3. Ya, I have noticed Blasters pull a little agro....

    Fire / Mental?

Don't know who Silverado is, but hat's off to him. By soloing AVs I assume you mean the ones that spawn in solo player missions, that are closer to EBs on steroids?

I did solo the AV at the end of Positrons because my team split. But I think he is a glorified EB even for an eight person team. That was on a Energy/Energy blaster that I abandoned because I need a team friendly build. Good solo build I think though.

    Fire / Mental?

Thanks for the tip. Got him to 19 last night, will 50 him in a few days and see how he does.

    Fire / Mental?

I did not see a guide in the permanent sticky on this. Any opinions on this?

    Taunt. Why not?

I see a lot of Tanks without taunt. I play brutes mainly, have a couple 50 tanks, and am starting to Blast a lot.

I have a thoughtful reason why they do need taunt. It is based on team synergy, and letting blasters/scrappers kill fast and efficiently while the tank sponges up agro. I could go into doctoral length discussion on that type of blue side tactic, but nuff said.

Does anyone have a thoughtfuul reason tanks do not need taunt?
  8. I'm very new to Blasters. Is the debuff in sonic different than the debuff in rad? Basically I am asking if sonic is better than rad for the job? (I do hate that noise.)
  9. Is there a hands down best blaster for versus AV action? I would assume Single Target damage would rule. Does Rad debuff effects even work vs AV?

    Rad/Nrg

I recently started running Blasters. I tried the Nrg/Nrg. Great for soloing, seems bad for teams. So i started a Rad/Nrg. Do not need a build guide. Maybe just a little dvice. Is this a good build for TFs? Does anybody know a better TF Blaster? Is there any aoE Blaster that has great Solo damage, or are they sorta one or the other?

    SS/???

I ran SS/Invul allatime before SS/WP came out. They are the 2 I know best. I just solo'd the entire game with a SS/WP redside. Solo, they are unreal, with the neccessity that you add the fighting set shields, so ther power choices are limited. Just a mean straight forward fighter, no end/health issues. Can solo EBs as early as they pop up in the game.

SS/Invul is very tanky, which fits my play style well. My 2 main gripes with it are the end issues and the tier 9. You will have end issues with this build. Every 2 min when rage drops you take a 25% hit on your end. It adds up in long combats. I started to wince every time I hit KO because I didnt want to see the minor dip in my end. The tier 9 is beautiful, with a caveat. You are done after 3 minutes. One way or another your fight ends 3 minutes after you hit that sucker.

With Willpower (I have a ton of Rech) I hit my tier 9 about every 4 minutes. When it drops after 2 minutes I make a mental note I'm a little more fragile. Period. No end issues. I can have 3 stacked rage, so those drop off regular, and no end issues.

    SS/Will = Fights like a wet cat.

SS/Invul = most versatile tank Redside, at least until GR, maybe even after. Cause everybody likes a tank that can do some damage.
  12. Did Noy really just say it was a server issue, so there is nothing they can do about it?....
  13. Good answers/info. You can say I am using brute comm mode, but if anybody here is saying that there is not a buttload of server lag in that valley sometimes (even if you using NASAs finest comp), you need to crap in your hat and wear it. Cause you a poopyhead.

Last night we did it straight up the valley, and everybody on the team hit that truly horrific lag. No D/Cs, just everybody getting one attack every 20-30 seconds.

Tonight I was on a team that hit the comp first, eased into the valley from behind. Then pulled the gens to the bridge. No lag.

Sad Pabda on the news about SGs and VGs. I really utilize the SGs for salvage/inspiration storage. It is gonna be interesting to see how I solve this new problem.

New question (should probably be in diff area, but wtf): On villain to Hero conversion, I/Os cannot be carried over? And what happens to my wonderful collection of Purps and such I took 2 years to collect? They cash them out for 2.3 mil?
  14. Amen brother (or/sister). On Feb 17 I tried an ITF. 45 minutes in the 3rd mish. Worst lag I have ever seen there. (and I have been D/c'd multiple times in that mission). This gave us an action about every 20 seconds. I liked the team, only reason I didn't quit right there.

Why does the staff of this game think that this is acceptable? Do they really think they are the only game in town? New players can get a 50 in like a week now. Then they do the ITF after playing the game for a week. They have no investment in your game or their character. This will be a huge turn off. Think about it. They will be like, this is why I Pl'd a 50? So I can run a laggy mission?
  15. I have been playing brutes as my primary characters since I started the game. They looked like the best then, and to me they still do. I have done some exploring of the other character types, and am only really happy with a brute. I leveled a few tanks to 50, to understand brutes better mostly, in the AE system, about one a week, different power sets. Tanks need taunt. I get that. But do brutes need taunt?

My current character is a SS/Will brute. I do not have extra power slots to throw away (who does?). I need the shields from fighting set to ungimp will, so there goes 3 powers, even though I rarely use kick (altho the graphic is cool). I have a lot of global recharge, so i basically KO, Haymaker, Mu lightning, FS, and MU lightning - arc, a lot, rarely backing down to kick/punch/air sup, unless someone hits me with a severe -rech. Ah yes, I took fly (love that power) so I got air superiority. What I am saying with all this is my dance card is pretty full, and it already has a few powers like kick and air superiority that are cool, useful sometimes, but not desperately needed. Do I really need taunt? Do other brutes use this (besides stone, the only tank redside.)

The reason I guess it is bothering me is I started doing some "master" strike forces - no deaths, and very cool players. Kinda lucked into the group. Problem is, from time to time one of them will say "brute, taunt the X" And I am like looking at my feet sheepishly. I always go out and get the agro, but taunt? Dude, that power choice has never even been on my radar for a brute. I just tend to wander up to the EB and lay one across hs jaw. Seems to taunt him and most of his friends as well.

    Any thoughts?

    2nd story

I saw something with my own two eyes. An actual second story in a base. Not a split level of one room. Someone had stairs leading down to a room underneath the base entry room. A separate room.

How can I place rooms in a base under(or over) the one level map we are all familiar with?
  17. Am I running the wrong "escaped" arc? Mine has 3 missions with protectors (a very few) only in the first mish, and crey cryo tanks everywhere else.
  18. I will try the Darrin Wade arc, thanks. The other arc the mission seems to be 5th in a series, yuck lol. Hunting St Martial yields okay results, not spectacular. Wish these fights were 50th level, at least it would be worth the effort. I should submit that idea, some map you could visit with spawns of certain types at your level. I will fight 10 Tsoo for one sorcerer, I got no problem with that. But killing greys is just blah.
  19. lol. Wait until you 50 that sucker and put some decent sets in it. I ran a Invul brute for over a year, got tired of fighting the end prob (brutes got horrid end issues). Sooo, I switched to a SS/Will brute and no end problems. I run all Willpower toggles, both Fighting set toggles, and attack like a wet cat with massive global recharges, never an end problem. And even with very light tanking ability am able to easily solo Elite Bosses, and with proper buffs tank AVs for Strike forces.

    Welcome to the gang brother!
  20. Killing 200 Paragon Protectors was not enough for Viridian. (This guy better pay in truckloads of cash) He also wants me to get the Tracer badge, for killing Tsoo Sorcerers. Now I did every mission, every arc, every side mission, for every contact with my toon. I got 10. Granted I tried to stealth as many missions as possible, but brute stealth isnt all it could be, I basically ran through the missions to the end. Anyways, enough of my crying in my beer. Makes it too salty.

So. I need to Kill 190 Tsoo Sorcerers villain side. The guides say go to St Martial. After 15 minutes searching there I found one. 189 to go. The math on that time investment makes me wanna scream too. At least the Paragon Protectors were everywhere.

So villains of the Rogue Isles, where can a brute find tons of Tsoo Sorcerers? Is there a story arc that can be farmed?
  21. Well, I plan to farm this arc for Ouro badges, so i guess i will revisit it. Having said that i ground out my badge in the Fab. It's good to be a brute lol. Done with that, thanks for all the help.
  22. They must have changed the misions set for "Escaped". It has 3 missions, and I have completed it a few times with different settings. There are only Protectors in the first mission, ever. And there are few of them. I do much better just going to the Fav and grinding. I have been tweaking my build, and can solo all groups there now, so its not so bad. 127 to go.
  23. Sure, SS/WP is easy, that is why I chose it to solo every story arc in the game. But now that I am on teams I want to remove the "glass jaw" effect that WP brutes can have in tough strike forces. I wandered into 2 groups of Longbow yesterday and both ate my cookies. Kind of frustrating because most of the time I can get away with that crap. And it stopped the TF both times because there was a no death clause. I appreciate the help and ideas here. Haven't quite gone the frankenslot route (I sure like a perfect set of 6 lol), but I have taken the ideas, looked hard at where I have to frankenslot a little anyways, and have squeezed a little more performance out of the build.
  24. Well, thanks for the input. At least I know I am on the right track. The only level 45+ is the one talked about in this thread "Escaped." It only has a few. I set it to -1 x4 and it went from 2 to 5. I can try x8, but I am not encouraged. By the time you count load screens, mish set up, etc. I might as well grind through 10 in the Fab and get a chance at decent treasure. Hmmm. Sometimes I wonder what the devs were thinking in setting some of this stuff up. I need this badge to unlock the last story arc from Viridian. After that I will have soloed all redside story arcs, every mission. Really annoying that they threw an anchor on the last one.
  25. Anybody know an easy way to find 200 Paragon Protectors? I can find a few in the Fab back of Grandeville, all 1-2 minute fights. Sheesh lol
