And you have massive -regen anyways so the -res won't really let you take down any big game you couldn't tackle without it... And Fire is still faster, once again, at AOE and ST. The Blaster ATO set and Apocalypse give you two purple procs in an already better ST chain (stick em in Blaze and Snipe respectively.)
After thinking about it all weekend I switched to Fire/MM Blast. Too bad, I had a great concept going (I'll keep, back shelf stuff) and was level 25. I really want to be satisfied that I made a good run towards a Blapper since I have resisted them so long. Thank you for the input. I'll try to put together a build over the next day or two for review.

Have you met me? Give me any armor for blasters instead of the secondaries available. In about 2 hours in Mids I will hand you back my Tank Mage. Seriously. Pick any armour set in the game, give me Blaster sets and I can guarantee I can layer that kind of mitigation. I will sit smack dab in the middle of spawns and use PBAoE and Damage auras to melt everything. I will back up 25 feet from AVs and Giant Monsters and be the best fire support a Tank ever had. I will pair with a few other like minded Tank Mages to melt AVs and Giant Monsters. After all, overlapping leadership toggles would make a killing network of Tank Mages.

This game is way to exploitable by a class with a Blaster Primary and a Armour secondary.

Signed, Someone who has desperately wanted a Blaster Primary and Armour secondary for 5 years.

Yeah. Like looking at an accident. You want to look away, but just cannot.

Anyways, I am interested in the resistance/loyalist conversation going on and guilt by association. During violent times every side has someone in their ranks who commits atrocities that are not in the spirit of the movement. It is how the organization deals with the offender that shows their true colors.

On Justice? There may/may not be justice in Paragon. In most countries Justice is a label slapped on the legal system like when fast food franchises try to say that some of their stuff is healthy.
  4. I have not been on Beta. From the picks. hmmm. I like the masks better. The hair, yeah, less than good. I like the white prison gang look of the current Skulls better, but the masks have always been less than.
  5. Thank you Two Headed boy. That helps.
  6. I have develeoped a character concept along with a sudden interest in playing a Blapper. I have resisted a Blapper for a long time. I have tentatively looked around at a build, having no real build goals I went for +dam and +rech.

Can someone look at this and tell me the different ways I am crazy and/or if my inner genius is shining.

PS, I know it is not finished!

I can't really go say, "Oh, no, Lovecraft's fine, just ignore those bits" because I don't believe any part of that. But if you are *aware* of these themes, I can accept subjective or scholarly debate on his quality as an author regardless. The one quality doesn't determine the other.
Yep. It's true. It's Jack's fault. Er, that and that i like to shoot from the hip. A lot.

Points about Wiki being right sometimes, of course. I use it as a jumping off point myself (before doing research, if money is involved)

Talked with my Wife and friends about this over lunch. We have the hardback book mentioned it turns out. My wife had the citation above memorized.

Still, I had a great point. Was wrong, but it was a great point. Jack's fault.

PS, HP Might have been a hack, (I understand he denigrated his own writing) yet he has had literary sucvcess, influenced many genres, and gives me nightmares when I read his stuff.

This is a proc that is virtually built for Willpower Armor. When will gets hit hard and you have to break up your DPS to start eating skittles and such it is bad. What is worse? Into a very long TF, no skittles left, and victory in sight, but a health bar creeping (creeping!) downward. Will has nothing it can do but watch. A proc like that would be worth a lot to turn the tide of battle. But it takes 1 enhance slot, and I do not see it helping many other armor types with better built in solutions (heals etc)

One more wacky fact from the zany world of HPL - his wife actually had Eastern European and Jewish acestors
Blue cries "Foul!" and wants a referee for a flag on the play.

You have here a quote from a wikipedia page. May be true, but also may be complete hogwash.

Second, if true: Your argument seems to be "HPL is a racist against Eastern Europeans" coupled with "HPL married a woman with eastern european heritage and Jewish heritage" Seriously? That's like saying someone is prejudiced against Black people when they are married to a Black person. You get that, right?

Lastly: This may have been raised in discussion already, but let me throw it out there. HPL may have been writing fiction and therefore taking on a tone as an author he did not carry in real life. I write vampire fiction. It can be gruesome. That does not mean I have a dungeon in my basement, blood in my refigerator, or stalk people. It is fiction. We recentlky ran a short campaign where the GM asked for us to play monstrous demons. After 5 gaming sessions the body count was about a hundred. That is not who any of us are in real life (3 copy editors and a bookkeeping mgr) It was FICTION.
  11. It surprises me how many times I've rolled one up. So now I just gave in and made one my Badger. Seriously, the easiest job in the city (especially rocking I/Os) is a SS/Will Brute. Nothing too much bothers you, if you play right nothing bothers you. You just smash, and then smash some more.

It just seems counter-intuitive to me, since there are plenty of other combinations (especially with the changes coming in i24) that can and will out-do this combo at ranged combat.

That all being said, I am not one to talk, since I tend to favor concept over functionality. So, tips:

Your early game will be tough, but you'll jump to the other side of the spectrum by the time you hit the 40s. Early on, you don't have a lot of mitigation from either set, save for Subdue and Tesla Cage at lvl 18. I would take and slot up your T1 and T2 blasts immediately, and do the same with Ball Lightning and Psychic Scream. Those 4, plus Subdue for problem targets, will probably be your main attacks into the 20s, unless you want to dip into your melee abilities. I would also recommend taking Combat Jumping or Hover early on to give you some additional maneuverability/defense.

This could be an absolutely deadly combo by the 40s, after i24, since you can open a mob with Thunderous Blast, jump in while they are writhing and fire off Psychic Shockwave, and anything that isn't dead should be damn close enough that they can pick them off one by one.

All in all, I'd say you are best off hopping in and out of melee range with this combination, and abusing your Primary attacks to make sure that anything that gets in close range won't last much longer.
Makes sense. I spent some months trying to find a good range Blaster (which is why I have the Electrical/Nrg all incarnated out) and what i found was even without melee attacks, and TRYING to stay at range, there is a significant % of the time I have to function at or near melee range. So, my primary function will be range please, but when I have to I will sneak in for the buff, and once I am there lay down some PBAoE love. Nice thought on the Nuke change too, i never even thought running in afterwards, but of course that is great, I can nail a chain of AoE starting from way. Lead with Nuke (or Inc Nuke + t9 Nuke), then ball lightning, Pyschic Scream as I come in, then stand in the midst of what left with Drain Psyche, Short Circuit, and Pysychic Shockwave. Probably get another ball lightning off at the end of that too. If anything is alive at the end of that it's gonna be really irritated though. I really wish World of Confusion had a larger radius. Guess I can always add EM Pulse at the end, but it seems like a real 'Hail Mary" when I dont think anything over Lt would be bothered by it. Whatever survives that particular chain would have to be a very nasty Lt.
  13. I finally located the sentence on the page. I need to run that arc I guess. Although the title, sigh. If it was written more than a couple years ago could be more literal that I would prefer.
  14. I have a character concept that involves the storylines for Seers and Clockwork. Basically I got to puzzling over what would happen if the Praetorians tried to use Clockwork warehouses to generate Seer Cyborgs instead of recruiting all the human young women. Since that seems to go so bad for them. I then realized that could go even worse if they were unaware of how the Clockwork King controlled everyone.

My personal plotline for this is the IDF tried to do an endrun around the current Seer network with a synthetic seer network. They used clockwork factories to develop the robots needed, but the entire thing just went to crap as soon as the first robots created were booted up. Some went crazy (just not dealable with in any fashion), some started working for THe Clockwork King 100%, some decided they WERE the Clockwork King (they could be reasoned with, sortof) and some just went Rogue.

These Clockwork have Electrical and Mental powers, and I am running one of the Rogues with a Blaster setup (Electrical/Mind). I saw a Wiki entry on Psychic Clockwork. Have I ever encountered these in game and did not realize it?
  15. I have a Elect/Nrg that I 50'd and fully incarnated. In the end it was not what I wanted. I am trying again, this time with Electrical/Mental. I figure this will give me an extra cone, and an extra PBAoE when I have to fight that way. (I prefer ranged combat) I know I have to joust in for Drain Psyche, but I have actually gotten a lot better at judging when that will faceplant me or not. (I still hate it, but I can do it er mostly successfully now.)

Anyways, the guides are so out of date as to be useless. Any tips for this combo?

  21. Heyas, I am building one of my rare Doms. I have permadom'd a few Grav/Nrg in the past. Deleted them, did it again. Ya, anyways.

So, I am not real familiar with Mind, and completely unfamiliar with Dark. It appears that my twin build goals of Perma levels of Recharge and high ranged defense are attainable, at least on paper.

Does anyone have some insight into the strengths of MInd Control and Dark Assault, any synergies, any go to powers, etc?
  22. Magic

Avatar of the Azure Dragon of the East, Seiryuu, legendary beast of the element of water of oriental mythology. Has visited the human world for XYZ reason. Searching for his three other brothers perhaps, the White Tiger, Black Warrior and Vermilion Phoenix. Was thinking the samurai set in blue, gray and silver, add glowy eyes and dragon wings when in "OH YOU GON GET IT NOW"-mode.

    Science

Robotic/Cybernetic water element videogame villain (or hero) is ported to the real world through a freak accident (or on purpose through an experiment), think Megaman. Lots of room for cheesy names and concepts here, used the same idea for my Brute, Electroman X. Spandex away!

    Technology

Pressurized water containers are both boring and unavailable as a costume piece, and if the name "Challenger" was available anywhere this would be my choice.
Blasting water using localized miniature portals mounted on his tech suit linked back to his base in the Challenger Deep, the deepest known point of the world's oceans, this character has lived all his life at the bottom of the sea, and must be inside his suit at all times on the surface as his body as adapted to the high pressure. The sci-fi bubble helmet is totally usable here.

All 3 of these are going on my ideas list. THanks. And ya, cheese.
  23. * You have failed every timed standardized test you've ever taken, haven't you?

I love this one. I probably will not use it however. 25% of the people would get it, most would ignore it, but there would be one or two people trying to figure it out for the entire BAF, and would probably get me killed by the rings because they were still trying to figure this out.
  24. I do take breaks, but not to play other games. I will start working on the guitar, or drawing, or writing. But there is no other game that combines what I like the most the way CoH does. The character generator and costume design is very good. I believe it was in a class by itself 5 years ago when I started playing. There are probably some titles out there that come close today. But I discovered the I/O system. The ability to take a standard character and softcap them to range def, or s/l, or permadom, or whatever is very nice. But the thing that lets me know I will not be going anywhere is the community I have discovered. I can't believe it but I even like the costume contests now lol.
