A few years ago level hierarchy was very strictly enforced and socially expected. There is a LOT less of that I have noticed recently. I am VERY happy too. Because I run a lot of alts. Sure, I have a pimped, purpled, incarnate. Which I run 5-10% of the time. The rest of the time I am running another one of my endless experimental builds. And I usually just want any team 8+ peeps.
  2. er, does this take the accurate to hit debuff sets? Mids and Wiki says yes.

    Permadom

Thx for the insight. With 100% global and Hasten and 99% rech on Hasten itself I should sit at just over the bobble on PermaDom unless I get slammed hard.

    3. Super Permadom 3 also at times referred to as "True Permadom": 125% recharge bonus from IO's and you can throw hasten away.
I modified the build, and actually like the modification, though it took me two hours work to do it the way I wanted. I do not plan any other changes to the build.

so, now I am sitting at 100 global recharge from I/Os, and Hasten with two lvl 50 Invention Recharge enhancers, which I plan to +5 each of. Will this set me up for Perma-dom, or am I still just a sliver short?

i may still go Spiritual, which of course would solve the Hasten perma problem, and i believe easily Perma me. But I wanted the option of more range or more damage in my alpha preferably more range.
  5. The ITF at 35 is the closest feel to DFB in the game for me. Most other Task Forces are more complicated, and on blue side long. The ITF does require a strong team, but its usual to find one or two incarnates on an ITF these days. The ITF takes 25 min (extreme speed by expert team) to hour (reg team, hitting most stuff) to very shardy/exp of an hour and a half. The objectives can be hard, but are very straightforward. Best, its worth about a level at 35, and about 1/2 level in low 40s, to almost half a level in late 40s.

    Permadom

I have a build set up thats pretty tight. There is not much in it I want to change. Also, I would prefer to get something besides Spiritual for my Alpha slot.

The Build has 85% global Recharge, and has Hasten. But of course this means Hasten is not perma. Am I going to fall out of Perma regular? I can get Hasten to 99% recharge easily, but I would prefer to just sit at 95% using 2 Enh instead of cramming 3 down on it. (or would 2 at +5 still hit 99% or so?) Anyways, even at 99% this puts me short of Perma Hasten, and I am worried that puts me short of true Perma Dom.

Any experts out there able to answer if this works from experience? The only way I can think to work it out is a long string of algebra.

Thank you. Every time I dig down there is another layer of complication. No wonder I never get tired of the game lol.
  8. Lots of questions today. I'm building again lol.

I have 5 sets of Thunderstrikes in the current project. These give 1.25% Ranged for 3, an additional 2.5% for 6, for a total of 3.75% Ranged. Now, I threw on a 2 BOTZ for another 1.25% ranged. Mids seems to count the 6th 1.25%. Is this because the Thunderstrikes shift from 5 x 1.25% to 5 x 3.75%, or are they really 5 x 1.25% + 5 x 2.5% and I am being fooled by MIDs?
  9. Does the Alpha Spiritual Recharge affect Permadom? This power has no "enhancers". Been a while since I built up a Dom, and I'm gearing up again.
  10. I think thats reasonable in merits. Not cheap, but pretty grindable. A few weeks on a 50 running ITF, LGTF, STF and weeklies will net enough merits to buy quite a few and give a nice chunk of change in drops as well.

Yeah, that felt like a lump o' coal in my stocking as well.
  12. There really is no "strafing" in CoH/CoV per se. There are tactics to bomb/hit baddies from cover with a few powers. But due to the way mobs are notified and the to hit calculations it is my understanding running/flying/jumping have nothing to do with your chances of getting hit. Also, due to the way people target in the city it is impractical to erratically move and fire. Strafing by it's nature is a type of AoE fire. Only about half (or less?) the AoE powers in the game are actually targeted on an area. An area is harder (for me) to target than an individual anyways, and I would hate to do it on the fly.

Which type of powers are you trying to use "strafing" an area?
  13. One of the reasons all of my videogaming in the last few years has been in the city is the wonderful costume generation possibilities. Could they be better? Yes.

We all have our pet gripes. One of my old ones is robot thighs. There are really no good pure mechanical robot thigh options in the game. Some almost could be cool but they are sculpted to look like a body builders thighs covered in metal. Helmets used to be a pet peeve, but they have made (some) progress in that are with recent options that help.

Also, not a good idea to start a post with "I've Always Hated About This Game"
  14. So a cone always starts at the caster no matter where the "target" picked is? And i would love it if we could just fire these without a target. Cant tell you how many times my "centered target" in a group has went rabbit on me and my cone hits that one fool and a barren field. Thats truly one of the biggest downsides to these targeted AoEs.

Why did it take 10 replies before someone said this? C'mon. People.
  16. I have been playing a lot of Blasters recently, switching from my Brutaholic ways. So now i have questions about cones.

Most cones will have a range of 40 and a radius of 40, or sometimes a range of 80 and a radius of 80.

So, if I target somebody 40ft away from me is that where the cone starts, or ends? Seems like thats where it ends from play experience. But the wording is, as usual, quite inexact.
  17. I have been doing a number of experiments with characters looking for the best ranged damage dealer. I of course have started with Blasters. I have achieved good success with a Dark/Energy Blaster and an AR/Energy Blaster. I thought it was time to double check I was not overlooking anything. I have decent knowledge of Blasters and Doms, and no knowledge of any other "ranged" possibilities. So I thought it might be time to ask for a little help.

My main question is what are suggestions for the best damage dealer at range 60+. Holds count as Damage Dealing, just because I consider them that powerful. If the character has to bounce into melee and back to range it isn't in the running. The character I am looking for is designed to stay at 60+ range (or better!) Please suggest any archtype/primary/secondary/patron that you think would meet the criteria. Thanks.

Hmmm. Not sure how/if I should respond here.

Glad to hear you are having Ranged success. I will point out that you are achieving this success despite of the way Blasters are written, not because of it. Many powers in almost all sets are PB or Melee. Oftentimes the best powers in the sets.

It is my hope that the Devs will put out more pure ranged Primaries/Secondaries. I do not expect anything soon. Dark/Dark was a nice addition to Blasters, except it again emphasizes the Blapper concept. Which is awkward, at least for me. Yet, in character generation it says ranged, and I keep hoping.
  21. In all seriousness blasters do need the unchallenged damage crown back. period. now.

that was a demand. here me roar. (did they hear me...?)

A request is that Blasters actually get new powsets that are really ranged. Ranged primaries (besides bow / gun) that have non crashing ranged nukes. More ranged nukes even if you crash. More ranged powers. Sets with ALL ranged powers. Oh, snap, theres a thought. When they say Ranged in the class, actually have ranged in the powers. Need I say ranged secondaries? Did i bring up the Range thing? sigh. Ranged.
  22. My wife is struggling with targeting, movement, etc. We still laugh about how she used a jet pack to cram herself so far into a statues crotch it took her minutes to get out. I mean, I still struggle with movement on some maps. To someone who is new it can be very daunting.

Tactics, not even something a new player is worried about. My wife has little patience for pulling, is developing a respect for herding, and anything else she don't care. Although she has developed a understanding of FF gens lol. They just want to engage the enemy, hit buttons, and see cool stuff.

Strategy (team synergy, powerset synergy) even less important than tactics.

At least this is my experience with my wife. But, we have fun, kill stuff, make jokes. To give you an idea i 50 about 0nce every 2 weeks on my own. it would be once a week, but I get distracted with alts. With my wife I am earning exp at a very very glacial pace. But again, it's the journey, not the destination.
  23. My wife started playing a couple months ago, and I was asking very similar questions. She started with a blaster, I took a tank. Then she made a couple Scrappers, and the last she made is a Tank. I do not think she has decided what fits her best. She has real connection to both the Blaster and the Tank and plans to 50 them both. She thinks the Blaster is too squishy. the Tank is perfect, except does not do enough damage. So, i just play whatever works best in the team that i have lying around. And we have fun, and thats the most important element to the duo. GL.

I stated Dell is not good place to buy a high end gaming rig specifically. You state this is a "Sweeping Condemnation" Therefore you do not agree with my statemnent.

Using this logic chain I offer up the conclusion Ironblade thinks Dell is a fine place to buy high end gaming rigs from. I do not understand why you think this. In fact, it appears that you are saying the one specific example listed is a bad choice. Let me ask, is that a sweeping condemnation from you? Help me understand....
