  1. Is there any use for it at all? Does anyone like it?

I mean, even as an IO mule if nothing else?

Actually I'd say that Devoured Rikti would look like the normal Devoured we see, so there'd be no way to tell. The Devoured don't seem to retain their speech patterns once they are changed: a Troll DE would sound the same as a Crey Scientist DE.

As for Rikti Ghosts ... it depends on what ghosts are. If you have to have some kind of personal magic to manifest as a ghost then it's no surprise there are no ghost Rikti ... or if they don't believe in an Afterlife maybe they just dissipate upon death.

In addition, the Rikti psychic network would probably pick up on the foreign presence and purge it quickly unless precautions were made.

As for the Circle taking captives, I do think they try and catch Rikti for sacrifice when the two forces collide. There's at least one mission where that happens somewhere in the game.
At least some Rikti have learned magic from the COT ... though I think the ones who have done so are transformed humans ... still there's no reason to assume the COT could not take possession of a Rikti Magus ... (given the Rikti weakness to magic I am not convinced they could expunge a possessing COT from a Rikti.)

I always thought a neat solution to Nick Fury would be having Nick Fury in WW2 be his dad. No reason to assume that Nick I would be incapable of having a biracial marriage ....

And that assumes that Tony is currently at least 40 years old currently.

ARRRG stupid comic continuity hurt Hulk's brain!
I pondered that too, and decided against Peggy being Tony's mother for the exact same reason.

Howard marrying late-- or more than once-- is entirely plausible. Rich men can often have children quite late in life.

I wonder if they will touch on Steve knowing Tony's dad in the movie.
  6. SyFy is showing the 1979 Captain America TV Movies.

Cap's outfit kinda reminds me of Fighting American.

    Epic Encounters!

I've had a few encounters that have been awesome ... I was fighting Black Swan on one of my Illusion/Kin toons with a team, and everyone died but me. My Non-IO'd out I/K was holding the big bad AV at bay while the rest of the team recuperated. Made me feel awesome!

My Bots/Dark MM took out Aurora Borealis as an AV back in the day when I had no idea what I was doing.

Ironically enough, the first thing that came to mind when you said "epic" was not an AV fight or TF or even Arc mission at all.

It was right around the time that multiple costume slots came out. Some friends and I were helping a teammate get her costume slot. The TSOO ambush hit ... and I was getting my butt kicked.

This was back pre-Travel Surpression, so when I found myself getting hammered, I took to the skies.

And one of the Tsoo Spirits came flying up after me.

Something about trying to stay out of range of Spirit's range while peppering him with blasts from my Assault Rifle just felt EPIC to me.

We were dogfighting over Steel Canyon. How much more epic can you get?
  8. I had a hard time playing Spider Blue, my Arachnos Soldier, until I met Hardcase.

(To be honest the VEAT storyline does not captivate me at all.)

I have always seen Recluse's philosophy as being "The strong thrive. The weak perish. That is as it should be."

Hardcase is a Redside contact who basically says, "Yeah, we may be tough, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't look after our own."

That led to Spider's philosophy: "The strong thrive-- and protect what is theirs."

In his mind, Spider Blue is a hero of the people of the Rogue Isles. He will fight to protect them and keep them from harm. In effect, he's saying, "I'm so strong I don't have to let the weak perish."

He acquires power. He beats up the Longbow invaders of his homeland-- and gladly does the same thing to the Freedom Phalanx and Vindicators when they show up on his turf.

But he also protects the people.

I like to say that he's Prince Namor with a sense of humor.

So, Spider Blue is definitely patriotic ... not to the government of the Rogue Isles, but to the people. It's his home. He defends it.
  9. Just read that not only will Superman be single again in the reboot, Jonathan and Martha Kent will also be dead again.

Also, they will be emphasizing the "alien loner" factor in Superman again.

Man, everything old is new again ...

    Oooh

On a serious note, I don't see Statesman, Sister Psyche, or Positron dying. They are much more the "Face of the game" than Manti or BABs. I can't see States going anywhere when so much of the game advertising revolves around him.

I'm going with Manti going. Yeah, it's kind of obvious, but sometimes the obvious answer is the right one.
  12. BlueBattler

    Oooh

Eh. If Manti dies Sister Psyche will just kidnap Chimera and mind-control him into THINKING he's Manti ...

    Backpacks!

So now that there is a tab in the costume creator for backpacks (thank you Steampunk pack!) are we going to see any NEW backpacks?

(Personally I think some kind of techpack would look awesome for robot masterminds, mercenary masterminds, and traps defenders/corrupters... )

I just recently completed Crimson Revenant's arc on Nerva (30-34 level if you have the Hammer Down Badge for defeating the Ghost of Scrapyard). He also appears in a mission from Alan Desslock again between 30 -34 if you are a VEAT. Oh and don;t forget he is one of the 50 level signature heroes that appears in Recluse's Victory when a villain takes out enough pill boxes. THAT also means he is around in the future since that's where Recluse Victory takes place so it seems unlikely he dies defending Galaxy CITY in the present but is still battling evil in the future.

Heroes get to rescue him and have him as a pet in the Mendor Silos TF as well so right there you have 4 different missions and the summons in RV that would need to be altered if BABs died. Much more likely he'll do everything he can to save the neighborhood but in the end will be forced to retreat .. possibly even by Statesman yanking him out physically because "The city can't afford to lose you!"

Hmmm I can see it now State's running around for a week grumbling under his breath as the black eye BABs gives him SLOWLY heals. lol
Oh, I'm sure that BABs is going to be perfectly safe. I would be REALLY surprised if the Devs DID kill him-- or any of the Freedom Phalanx or the Vindicators-- off.

I guess it doesn't fit my mental image of BABs that he'd let his city fall while he still had breath left to defend it.

Maybe Shalice realizes its a lost cause and mind controls BABs to make him leave for his own safety. Maybe he's knocked out. Maybe he suffers injuries in battle that prevent him from being able to stave off the disaster.

IMO, there should be some kind of loss to the Fall of Galaxy ... and NOT just generic "Oh thousands of no name NPCs died and the city was made into a wasteland" sort of way.

When DC Comics had Coast City be destroyed by the Cyborg Superman, it appeared that everyone that Hal Jordan knew or loved happened to not be in the city. He didn't lose a single person that mattered to him ... (though I think it was later retconned that Kari Limbo, his former fiancee, died.)

Maybe we'll see BABs with cybernetic limbs. Maybe his bio will be tagged with a line about how he's dealing with the tragic loss of Galaxy.

Maybe we'll find out that all the Galaxy City contacts perished in the destruction. (And given that one of those contacts is part of the cape mission I am curious about how that will revamped. Oh, and Shadowstar ... can't forget about her.)

I don't know the mechanics of the game. I don't know if the Devs could simply replace BABs with, for instance, Miss Lberty (Megan's mom) or it would take far too much work to make the changes that'd be required to deal with the death of a major NPC.

But if Galaxy City is destroyed and it makes NO difference to BABs or the rest of Paragon then what's the point of doing it in the first place?

Unless your character has never read a newspaper or watched a television broadcast, I'd argue that BABs level of fame in Paragon is high enough that you'd recognize him, even if you came from somewhere else in the United States.

He's been active in Paragon since the 1970s. Most of our characters aren't born at the moment of creation ... they have a life before they started fighting evil or against justice.
I find it unrealistic to assume they don't know who someone like BABs, Positron, or Statesman is.

Fusionette, Doc Buzzsaw-- someone on that level I could easily assume they are unknown to the general public.

Granted, not ALL characters would necessarily know who he is-- the PC might be from another time or world or country, but IMO it's PLAUSIBLE they would know who he is.
  16. The Brawler is one of the most famous heroes in Paragon. Just because you're starting out your career as a newbie hero doesn't mean you've never heard of him.

I doubt they will actually kill him off, but I could see some nice dramatic effects from it:

Those who choose to be heroes may decide to do it to honor his memory. Those who are villains may see it as the wages of heroism being death.
  17. If Galaxy City falls, what happens to Back Alley Brawler?

Has anyone else wondered if he might be destined for that great Supergroup in the sky?

Would it make it more dramatic if he did go down fighting to save his city?

When Katie cries out to me about betraying her it almost brought a tear to my eyes, I found myself saying “I'm sorry Katie.” out loud. After that, I never had the heart to betray her again. Every time I do her arc, I help save her sisters. Which of course caused a big shock for me the first time I left Praetoria thru the Resistance's portal. Being greeted by her and some of the freed Seers really warmed my heart. Superb writing.

Special Agent Jenni Adair's arc is very cool, As told by many people here, yes the part where you double dies is very shocking the first time you go through it. Its, that person you cannot save, no matter how super you are.

Seer Marino's arc, for all the reasons that have been stated and its just that cool.

There are some more, but those have always been some of my favorites. Much of the Praetorian content is very well done. Keep up the good work Devs.

I have to admit that my mind/fire Dom developed quite the crush on Katie. As a Psi in Praetoria himself, he was very sympathetic to their cause ... and I was pleasantly surprised he got to say goodbye to her when he left.

"Oh, Wretched Man" is an awesome story. Nothing like seeing Ghost Widow call out your name as you are about to put the beatdown on her captors.

And Paolo's story is just so sad ...

Every time I do Jenni Adair's arc I run my hardest to save my double's life even though I know I'm doomed to failure. I have managed to land near him before the place goes up. That's the best I've done.

I have to admit that's a story I sort of wish we could have played from the other side as a Praetorian-- you come to Primal Earth, do the rescue Jenni Adair mission, thwart the invasion ... but for the Praetorian version YOU live while the Primal version dies saving your life.

That could be all kinds of neat.

(Aside from the mechanics, I can see why the Devs would not want to do that as many people made a Praetorian version of their Primal characters and wouldn't appreciate having one of their characters "killed" ...)

And to what end do you capture her? So she can be tortured until she's a broken shell of a woman and an example. That was the one time my villain really felt like a monster (though a lot of credit for just how depraved it all really is goes to Phipps' planning)
The best thing about that mission is that you can fail it and let the timer run out. I almost always do that because of the souvenir you get from that.

And if it makes you feel better-- or worse if you are a villain-- I think there's a tip mission where a hero rescues her.
  21. In addition to all these great stories listed above, the Freakshow Olympics holds a special place in my heart too. When I was running Blue Battler in the very beginning of the game, I spent a lot of time street sweeping with a friend ... (this was before arcs gave souvenirs, even) and the murder of the reporter was the first time I ever felt personally engaged in the story... he was the first person I failed to save ... 8-(

Aside from that, the whole Penelope Yin/Clockwork King story has a resonance for me ... even though I feel like Penny doesn't give a lot of consideration to CK ...

    Powerset Respecs

This is one of the reasons I wish anniversary badges were universally unlocked. I have toons that I would just hate to lose the badge on but I just don't want to play with the powersets they have.
  23. So, I was checking out the calendar wallpapers to get some birthday information, and I found out that Mynx isn't the only cougar in the Freedom Phalanx.

Sister Psyche was born in 1920. Manticore was born in 1968.

Numina was born in 1940. Positron was born in 1962.

Apparently the ladies like 'em younger.
  24. If they ever do get the technology right, I hope they fix Infernal. He's always looked goofy to me with his ax both on his back and in his hands when I fight him.
