Step 2b: Task forces, trials and large teams. Bigger mobs, more prestige. I had a VG I used to run on Liberty, and for the bulk of that time, I was nearly the sole active member. None the less, by the time he'd reached level 50, he'd banked about 1.8 million prestige, largely due to these practices.
  2. If this bothered you, how'd you ever survive the quad elevator misorientation?

Heh, it also occurred to me that they may be testing a new mechanic in a futile attempt to prevent something like this. I've one-shot targets with extensive dialog strings before (1st damage, 75%, 50%, 25%, down), and gotten the entire string all at once in the chat window. I chuckled... a lot.
  4. Pretty minor glitch in the grand scheme of things, but I noticed that VEATs' initial costume slots don't have access to the current 'mainstream' version of the Alpha and Omega auras. If I recall correctly, what they're getting are earlier versions that were briefly available during the i17 closed beta - far less customizable (body only), and rather different, graphically - Alpha is more 'radiant', rather than 'star-like', and Omega is more 'smoldering' rather than 'burning'.

Just to be clear, this doesn't affect Khelds, and is only a problem with VEATs' first costume slot.
  5. Handily enough, I fought her today myself. Think you might have had a glitch that allowed you to "defeat" her on one pass, but my exact experience may prove insightful. For relatively tough enemies, I tend to watch their health bar early in the fight to assess how rapidly each of us is taking the other down, and adjust tactics accordingly. As a result, I was watching quite closely when she hit 75% health... and healed completely.

    *blink*

    And again at 50%

(starts to see a pattern here)

    And then at 25%

    (I hate predictable plots )

    And finally, down she went.

In retrospect, it SEEMS like this may have been "working as intended", as annoying as it was. Didn't recall anything in the mission text that explained this bit of parlor magic, but she had a bit of dialog each time it happened. She was also briefly untargetable each time.

Looking back at your description, it appears that something glitched in this process, allowing you to actually defeat her... and then have her "heal" (rez) to full health, mouth off, and continue the fight.

All this is, of course, assuming that MY mission wasn't ALSO glitched... in which case, I've got no idea.

Yeah, you need to feel the love of throwing a lot of melee stun in with your knockback.

Pretty much this. I'd also add that, if they unlist my items for sale AND return the listing fees, I've lost nothing by waiting it out. But yeah, even if it all vanished into the binary bilge of the internet, I'd just list new stuff and move on. An entire month's worth of market sales is nothing more than pocket change to me.

My first blueside 50 was Agent Sharpe (Justice), an nrg/nrg blaster, and no, contrary to some other posters' comments, I didn't faceplant a lot, either solo or grouped. As with any AT, it's about managing the aggro you can survive. Given that Sharpe was born in the era of lolDefiance 1, this was particulary true, but I've played him much the same even since the advent of Defiance 2. He's still an absolute *ahem* blast to play.

That being said, I also have a fire/fire in the upper 20s that has his own style of mitigation: reducing everyone in the mob to huddled, smoking heaps. Rapidly.

Even better; Take them, just don't USE them. Take them out of the tray entirely.

Short yourself a coupla powers and see how it goes.

Actually, I think it's something about American contests being restricted by various strange European laws, but the net result is, unfortunately, the same.

Didn't buy the pack... because of the animation of a power you don't have to use?.. Odd.

On the plus side, it doesn't have the Atomic Athelete's Foot effect of Superspeed.

Along those lines, several regular polyhedrons - hexahedron (cube/6-sided), octohedron (8-sided), dodecahedron (12-sided) and icosahedron (20-sided).

Any PnP gamer geek or D&D player can visualize these.

Or, as 1-2 other folks mentioned, some of the existing cc emotes - Cast, Lightning, PrestoChango, Spin, SmokeBomb, NinjaJump, EnergyMorph, VanguardSigil and DimensionShift would ALL work well for various Teleport powers.

Heh, I got around this by making my toon look like the illusions, one costume slot for each of the three. Not an ideal solution for everyone, obviously.
  17. Would like a Fly animation identical to that used by Hover.

Have always felt that the "god-mode" of various defensive sets (Unstoppable, Moment of Glory, Force of Nature, etc) would also be well-served by using a variation on the "scream" animations used for Psychic Wail, Dreadful Wail, Anguishing Cry, etc.

Jump Kick, as-is, only suits a character in a clown suit, IMO.

    Superspeed. Lose the burning feet.

A lot of the Energy and Electrical Blasts could be replaced with a ball or sphere of energy, rather than a bolt. Several of the Radiation attacks already "throw" these. I'd simply like to "project" them from the hand(s).

Teleportation (all). I'd be happier with the character just STANDing there for the requisite animation time. Also, dark tp "flashes" as well.

A lot of the leadership set could do with something other than that pseudo "Seig heil, mein furher!" animation.

Will have to second an earlier suggestion to project mental attacks by pointing, rather than by getting a brief migraine.

Get rid of the Patron symbol on the Patron defense powers. Now that we can "follow" one Patron while learning the powers of another, the "brand" makes less than no sense.

And that was just my short list.

It came as no surprise to the devs, seeing as they warned folks not to beforehand, but I was referring to the players.

LOL, DAMN you! Now I *want* "Bats" as a MM primary!

Not so sure about the "Tarps" secondary, though; sounds too "troller-ish" for my taste.

    Thanks!
I once had someone jump on my case for "spoiling" the end of "The Usual Suspects"... seven YEARS after it came out...

My response? "You were too bloody lazy to actually watch a film you've been 'meaning to see' for SEVEN YEARS? Whose %*$&!&# fault is THAT?!? Certainly not MINE, you slacker!"

Personally, I give everything about two years, regardless of media. If you "mean to" see, listen to or read the damn thing, do it. If you haven't, and hear me talking about it, politely let me know. If everyone else present wants to hear about it anyway, I'll politely ask you to leave, for the sake of your enjoyment. After that? Cope.

You do realize there's a real world out there?..

Yes, teams do completely disband fairly frequently when the leader, or even a random teammate, leaves. Because everyone else decides they've been on a while and need a break, or actually DO some of the things on their daily to-do list.

Don't get me wrong; I think a minor buff that builds up the longer a team has been together, retaining (for example) at least four core members, is a nifty idea. Sort of a "Hey... we work pretty well together, don't we?" bonus.

There is no epic storyline or new powers or new levels you just grind new incarnate based merits to unlock a couple global bonuses.
    1) That remains to be seen; the devs are tweaking the incarnate system for full release with I-19, instead of releasing the first part with GR. Things might change.
    2) Still works for me.
  24. Without a doubt, Blood Speaker, Necro/Dark/SM Mastermind. First character, first 50... and (concept-wise) the avatar of cosmic entropy and destruction.

I tend to recommend against Thugs as a starter MM, because Arsonist is a squishie (teir 1 pet) aggro thief (fire, fire and more fire). Certainly ENJOYING my own 25 Thugs/Pain, but to most "MM newbs" I'd strongly recommend Bots.
