  1. Stupid Thread: an insult to intelligent players.
  2. As for the folks that want to be able to screen farms out of their searches, try my method, acquired by asking myself a simple question: How many farms are more than one mission in length?

Seriously. I simply don't search ANYthing there with an arc length of less than 'medium'. Have yet to encounter a single farm that way. Granted, some of the arcs still stink, but the amount is only slightly higher than the percentage of low-quality fiction on the average bookstore shelf.

I'd also remove Prestige.. Again, while you might learn something fighting a holographic enemy, I doubt playing what is essentially an advanced video game would make your group seem very prestigious.. Same for inspirations and the like.. You get them in the MA, and they should work in the MA, but once you exit the hologrammy goodness, items produced in there wouldn't exist on the outside.
The problem with this view is that you're perceiving the AE as strictly an entertainment system within a superhero setting - holographic television, and nothing more.

A great many of the AE writers I know (myself among them) don't see it this way. The system was implemented in this way because (apparently) it was easier than creating a system for using existing contacts to give out missions or, worse, somehow generating CUSTOM contacts for people to go visit out "in the real world". But most AE story writers like to see their stories as events that ARE occurring out "in the real world" of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. The AE building is a "necessary evil" that many have simply chosen to pretend is not, in fact, part of the process of their story enveloping the "viewer". As such, the rewards should be just as "real" as the events in their stories.

Am seeing some "Up" and some "Unknown".

Far too many hysterians are going to "expect" whatever extreme outlook most satisfies their sense of panic and/or outrage, regardless of any attempted "expectation management". Some things never change.

When it is no longer after Thanksgiving!
It is "after Thanksgiving" until January 1st of the following year, at which point it becomes "before Thanksgiving".

The complaints are coming due to the fact they are consistently late in releasing new content. Again, some of the stuff we are still waiting for was supposed to be released with GR. You can play games with semantics all you want, but a lot of us are aggrivated with being strung along waiting for the incarnate content. If you're not, that's great, but acting like there is no reason at all for some of us to feel the way we do is ridiculous. It's a valid argument that they've missed a lot of release dates recently, and most customers don't like it when the person they are doing business with is consistently late with providing products or services.
Yep, you're absolutely right; they SHOULD stop giving us release dates.
  11. Yup, this makes 2 threads and at least as many bug reports for me (as far back as i18 beta), as well. Not as dire an issue for me, but yes, I paid for them, I'd like to be able to use them on any character. It may "only be one costume slot"... but it's the only Arachnos uniform costume slot.

Glad SOMEone finally responded to one of these threads; my first one pretty much slipped under the radar and never recovered, presumably because no one else cared, particularly. Also "nice" to know that someone else has identified the issue independently. Knew it wasn't just me from the beginning; tested it on my wife's account, and had two friends test it as well - same issue. Whether any of them cared enough to /bug it as well?.. *shrugs*

(Maybe Championess meant less people subscribed?)

Then you were pointing out that sales from the latest quarter is about the same as the same time last year.

(Maybe implying that 3Q10 has about the same subscribers as 3Q09? If not, please clarify)

And that led to my response you quoted from me.

Now if you were focusing more on the other part of Championess post that was trying for a direct cause/effect relationship with server load, that's a different matter i didn't go into because it needs other information that was not referenced.

/edit: Oh, you were wondering what the y-axis represents in FatherXmas' graph was....that looks like south korean won (millions).
Well, to get down to the brass tacks of the matter, I'm saying (not just to you, or Championess, or anyone specific, but to EVERYone) "Quit showing me just one vague graph as proof of your position. It's not."

I'm not going to except JUST new sales numbers, or new subscription numbers, or numbers of microtransactions, or any OTHER numbers BY THEMSELVES, as evidence that any MMO is doing well OR badly. By themselves, they can only represent one facet of a game's success.

I would, if there were any accompanying data that specifically stated that were the reason. There isn't.

My main point is that waving a single graph in my face as proof of ANYthing, without a complete set of data, not to mention all the OTHER graphs that track other important numbers relevant to THIS graph, actually proves only one thing. It proves that said graph-waver shouldn't be trying to speak from a position of knowledgeable authority, be it alarmist (ie "DOOM"), supportive, or otherwise.

Numbers may not lie, but they can obviously be misinterpreted. I look at the graph you tout as evidence, specifically at Q309 (3rd quarter of 2009) and Q310 (3rd quarter 2010), and see virtually identical numbers, with Q310 being slightly HIGHER.

Now granted, without something to say specifically what the y-axis of the graph means, the entire graph is meaningless. Number of paying subscriptions? Then you're wrong. Number of active players? Means nothing in a financial context. Number of new subscriptions? Means nothing without attendant data regarding retention.

To release such a thing on to the live servers (AND right before a holiday break) would be... obnoxiously oblivious.
I have one Dominator and no Kheldians that would be affected by the bugs in question... and I couldn't agree with the above quote more. Just because it doesn't seriously impact ME doesn't mean I'd nonchalantly throw it in anyone else's face.

I can understand some people's disappointment and frustration, but complaining that you (for example) re-subbed just for this, and have now paid a month more than you wanted to just says "It's all about me"... and it's not, sorry. If it was going to be that much of an issue, it would have been better to wait to re-sub til after it went live. Seriously.

  19. Certain auras are not available to the primary (first) costume slot for Arachnos Soldiers, even after all other auras are unlocked. Specifically, all the auras from the Origins booster: Atomic, Bio Plasma, Cryogenic, Leaves, Runes, Sparks, Steam Jets, Tarot Cards, Thunderhead and Toxic Vapor. In addition, the two Issue 18 / Going Rogue auras, Alpha and Omega, do not work correctly in the same slot. They are still listed as Alpha/Omega, and use the beta version of these auras, rather than the current, more flexible versions.

As a side note, please expand the "Full Description" field for the in-game bug report. 512 is often insufficient for a "full" description of some of the bugs I've encountered.

I am saying, there is no feasible way for anyone to get one toon fully tricked out with purples and PvP enhancers unless they (blah, blah, blah...)
And numerous folks here have already pointed out that they're not necessary. I have ONE character, out of roughly 50, that is largely specced out as you imply. I have been playing that character... for 48 months. And, to be honest, while the bonuses involved are nice, they haven't significantly altered his overall playability.

    Quote:
So, the Devs have set up this situation. the Devs need to fix it. Most people want to spend 3-6 months on one toon, and have something way cool to show for it. if the Devs do not get that then they need to have a serious conference style think tank day.
Then apparently the Devs need to "fix" this by... what? Banning all the players that, in their impatience, pay 2B inf for a single enhancement? Banning all the players that, knowing of others' impatience, market them for that much? Trust me, capping the consignment prices will NOT make the problem better. The items you want (not need, I remind you) will vanish into the void of off market trades... where you will pay as much or more for them, assuming you can find a seller.

Try settling for (slightly) less, as others have already recommended. You'll enjoy yourself more.
  22. Have gotten on well with several higher-level (40+) Doms:

A level 50 Grav/NRG/SM - can throw a lot of control around with Domination, Power Boost, the Megalomaniac accolade and a Singularity chipping in. Even good on melee-heavy teams if you have the foresight to lock down your own KB, and Wormhole, despite all the dissing it gets, is a great alpha killer AND herding/cornering tool, as long as you let folks know what's going on and where.

A level 43 Plant/Thorns/SM - most of the folks here have already said everything I would about both Plant and Thorn. The combo has been a blast to play, for me.

A level 41 Elec/Elec/Mu - can be an eyesore for some folks. Avoiding garish power colors will make teams like you a lot more, and Static Field will make you almost as popular as a Transference Kin, once your teammates know that standing IN the field along with the slept mob gives them End... a LOT of it.

For myself, I'm still "patiently" waiting for Dark Domination / Dark Assault. Hey, I can dream, can't I?
  23. I rather like the visual effect of the elec control/dom powers, rather realistic IMO, having worked around a lot of electricity in my earlier career. Maybe I'm just not as "hypnotically drawn" to the effects as others, but even so, my two elec doms have the powers colored blue-white, and red. No problems with either.

There is something to be said for a particular effect causing some people health related issues - epileptic attacks on the old sonic shields, possible migraines for other things, I suppose. But changing an effect because people find it annoying stands to be counter-productive if there's a chance they would inadvertently change it TO something like that in the process, and end up having to change it AGAIN.

And seriously?.. If you've made your electrical controls a garish color for the sake of concept, and find the resulting effect irritating... you're part of your own problem.

    Getting Fired

Eat other people's lunches, if you have a break room with a fridge that other employees stash them in. Be sure to get caught repeatedly.

Great money-saving tactic, too. This is a good thing to point out when you get caught.
