Quote:This is exactly the case, which makes the continued insistance on a seperate market assinine. This is an excellent point.
I'd be willing to wager that the factions have similar ratios of players at the inf cap, players who have a billion inf, players who have 500 million, etc etc.
The perceived monetary superiority of heroes is a function of a larger population, nothing else. If servers had their own markets Freedom would appear vastly wealthier than, say, Protector. And yet a shared market benefits both parties. -
I'm thinking about making that comic strip my wallpaper.

Certainly that is an option that I had considered but I'm more focused on the issue that my brand new computer was supplied to me out of the box with a ****** broken *** version of explorer.
I'm pursuing workarounds in the meanwhile, but ultimately, for what I paid, I want everything to just work. -
I'm back baby!
Sort of. I bought a totally kickass new computer that totally kicks ***, but instead of Internet Explorer, it has some sort of evil Cylon device that looks like Explorer, and has the same screenshots as Explorer, but instead of Exploring, it just freezes the damn hell up. I should stress that this is a brand new computer, just purchased yesterday, so why it should choose to declare war on my joy so soon is beyond me.
BUT it does run CoX just fine, so I should still be on for Tuesday night.
Updates as the happen. -
Dear Rogues, Hell, Dear CoV in general,
Last night my hard drive asploded. Well not litterally. But it is fried, and the data is not salvagable. I always kind of figured that was the sort of thing that happened to people that are not me. But here I am, sans one functional PC.
It will be a little while before I can afford to replace it. Until then, I wont be around. I'm sorry. I could not have forseen this or planned for it. Watch this space for my return. I'll miss you guys.

Totally. CoV has a lot of untapped potential in it's scenery and it seems that only the dullest, most grindy parts of it have been tapped to make maps (The PTS and Hellforge being my particular least favorite "I will always drop missions on this map if I can" offenders.)

The Resistance will never triumph. Your sad aspirations of social anarachy will never come to pass. The glory and peace of Emperor Cole's rule will endure until the end of days. You need only look to Primal Earth to see what misery awaits you if these miscreants had their way!

Quote:The redside market is vibrant and healthy. At level 50. At all levels below that, it is a graveyard.
The price disparities and shortages...are these more pronounced on things like purples rather than other recipes? I solo on both sides, and I haven't had *that* much more difficulty outfitting my villains than heroes, though I don't deal with the extremes (purples, LoTG, etc). Without any sort of farming or more involved marketeering (I don't play my 50s much, I get there then move to another character), I figure they're largely out of reach anyway (if I don't happen to luck upon one here or there). I tend to carry more money on my villains too, fwiw. -
The game will be a less lolzier place without you Slax.

That was a very productive evening. I believe we managed to complete our set of all the Halloween badges, which was awesome. I expect to see some pumpkin heads out there next week!
Speaking of next week, we're going to run the Pirates of the Sky Strike Force. To participate you must be at least level 20, and the closer to 25 you are the better for all of us really. It's a big fat pile of merits, so I hope to see everyone there. -
You've got people making huge assumptions about the game's design philosophy. You've got people making huge assumptions about the motivations of the development team. You have people with serious questions and theories about what the future of the markets will be. It's a state of confusion, debate, and chaos.
But never fear, along comes Castle, the super red name to clear up our misconceptions and restore order. Let's listen;
Oh, he just wants to comment on the thing we worked out on our own two pages back. Nevermind. Let the chaos resume! -
I like having shiney green dots beside my name. I get as much neg rep as anyone, probably more since I am a huge *******. But it doesn't bother me, I'm still way, way, way ahead.

This is one of the greatest missions in the game, because it is so different. It's not just a matter of clicking some glowies and killing everything in sight. Well, it can be if you are seriously bad ***, but it's not the default option. It feels like a heist, and I think that is awesome.
My favorite experience with this mission was running it on my Necro/FF Mastermind. Toggled PFF and just walked out, lol. -
Sure, and that is actually a really good point. I guess we'll have to see how involved the process of wholly swapping sides is. Because if it is like, a whole arc or more that you have to run, it seems like it might be a huge waste of time to have to run back and forth all the time just so I can call myself a bad guy.

I had plans drawn up for each character, but in the end I think I'll just move everyone blue side and not suffer through the redside market hell anymore, which is only going to get worse as more people realize they don't have to put up with a sucky supply to play a villain class.

Quote:Yeah genius, and he got them because there is a villain market, it's just worse than the hero one. But if you give players the option to leave the worse market, they will. Or at the very least the majority of those players who care enough about the market to make up a hefty percentage of the scant supply that does exist. So when your next villain goes looking for his goodies, they are nowhere to be found. Nobody is listing them, because everybody left for the market that doesn't suck. The hyperbole is strong with this one. Took me 100 hours to solo my brute reroll from 0-50. He's already got 90% of the IOs he needs for his final respec including the 5 of 6 armageddons I plan to slot. (Clarity: I have the 5 I plan to slot. Don't need the 6th.)
This doomcyring about the death of redside is even more stupid than the doomcrying about GR killing off AT X, Y and Z. -

Quote:That's what EVERYONE will do. Leave the Rogue Isles and never look back. What Neuronia wrote.
When I read the teaser about the markets, I was not very happy at all. If this remains the same I will do the same thing EvilGeko is planning to do, provided that when you go completely hero that you get access to WW.
This decision is not well thought out.

Quote:Give warning. Put it on the MOTD when people log in. Tell them to take their **** down, the market is going down for a few days. Tell them items left on will be deleted. Start everything at zero if you have to. I don't care. I don't care if you have to obliterate every inf on every character on every server. We will create the money on our own if we have to. In a week, all the old billionaires will be billionaires again. We cannot increase the supply by ourselves however. Are devs opposed to an idea of merged market itself or it is more opposition due to percieved or real problems with implementation of merged market? Any ideas?
As I can see it from implementation point of view, they would have to cancel all outstanding bids/offers before merge takes place. Without increasing inf cap, it might affect many players causing them to lose inf.
On another hand, if bids/offers stay intact during transition, due to huge disparity of WW/BM prices someone is going to lose/win big during merger. -
Quote:Everything my Rogue Isle native metahumans have to sell can be traced to ancient relics liberated from the ancient Cimeroran conflict, or our ongoing war with the Rikti, during which I lawfully obtained salvage from the alien invaders. Or maybe it isn't. But I'm good enough at what I do that nobody would ever be able to tell which piece was which, and what's more, as an established criminal I have any number of legitimate seeming psudonymns that I can use to do respectable buisness when it suits my needs. They can't merge them even if changing sides is possible.
The black market is just that, a illegal trade site only in the know villains know about, How can a goodie-to-shoes hero use it?
Funny how the RP argument never seems to take into account the idea that the villain might have a means of fooling the oh so sharp minds at Wentworths. Because no villain anywhere, has ever conned anyone. -
