Steam is good. Also, the steam forums are tons of fun too, not quite as 'family friendly' as these are, but certainly a lot of entertainment can be had there.
Other than the EQ2 forums when I play that MMO, I avoid all other forums. Most are not that friendly.

I looked at the Blizzard forums once.

    *shudder*
  2. That's not so bad. Danke Dark one. Now I need 7o log off. My 7 s7opped working.

We have new keyboards, and this weird glitch happens where a key stops working. At one point it was the backspace key. This is what we get for refurbished gear.

And MS points are gained with money? I know with our PS, we can add money via the PC or the PS Store. There are some difficulties with both though. One only takes increments of $5 and the other has issues with debit cards. That's neither here nor there though.

I sent in my original for the E74 error back in December-ish of last year. The refurb I got back works fine. I'm still planning on selling it, even though probably won't get very much for it. Got an Elite in place of it. Have no real desire to get a slim as I don't like the glossiness, though the Reach special edition is...tempting...me. Considering I've already spent $150 on the Legendary edition though...
Have a question about XBox live. Is it required for the DLC for a game, if there is any available?

With the RROD and the lack of warranty support, I will never buy a used X-Box. Just not worth the time.

I don't actually use Steam and refuse to have it on my computer (don't try and talk me into it, I don't want it. Period). Just going by what I've heard.
I don't have steam yet either, but I want to try Mass Effect, and I do not have the money for a new 360.

As for being online all the time, c'mon, folks, if you don't have an permanent broadband connection these days, you just ain't living. But that's in response to getting online through Steam to access games and such. I don't mind it because Steam's allowed me to pick up a lot of great games real cheap. When it comes to something like Ubisoft's DRM, though, it's just retarded.
Most of the time I would prefer to be offline Foamie. MMO's and forums are one thing, but when I play a single player game, I do not want to deal with chat, or the internet. We still have issues with our service provider. They cut out at odd times, usually as I am going on vacation or right before a big game event, such as a launch. My internet went down when we had a week off for a staycation, and the Friday before GR launched. It is just so common that we are baffled.

In addition, I loathe the idea that my DVD player needs to be online, or that I need to be online to access extra content on DVDs and Blu-Ray, such as deleted and extended scenes. The promise that you could watch the movie with other people online and they could chime in chat at any time is not something I would like. I would be telling people to STFU. *blush*

My point is, that even though I am not a Luddite, I still prefer not to be connected 24/7.
  8. Yeah, but the Jon Stewart exposure will counter the Hal Jordan character. Some viewers will expect Jon and will be disappointed/angry with Hal.

It's like how so many people here consider Wally West to be The Flash. Barry Allen will always be the Flash to me.

    Hmm.

Thanks Candlestick. I might have to look into it then. I know Mod 8 is going to nuke this thread, but...

This is why we talk about other games in this forum. We can trust one another.

MMO's are different from single player games. My suggestion is look to the store/company putting out the MMO if you are looking for digital downloads. It's easier to get all the content that way. NCSoft sells the Complete Item Pack for $10, rounded up, and you do not have to download anything,

    Ugh.

I will not allow SecureROM on my PC. I actually stopped plans to buy Temple of Elemental Evil due to SecureROM.

heh, the bane and fear of all producers. Is this character well liked wnough to draw the crowd.

Ryan Reynolds name might help. He has been in alot of other movies spanning genres, and that I can tell here he does not have any negative attitude attached to him.

Thats what I needed to know Foamie. I was looking at the site and I was not getting that information, and I was unable to find the info in their forums.

<< weak search-fu. It smells like pig dung

I know the subject came up here so I thought I would ask the people I trust.
  14. This will get locked, but what I am looking at is buying Mass Effect 1 and 2, and I do not want SecureROM on my system. Does anyone know if they will be included should I buy through Steam? I do not own a 360 yet, so am unable to go that route.

edit: Nice to see familiar posters chiming in. We don't know each other personally, but I have a fair amount of respect for most of you.

It was a Tuesday. My roommate had started teh new job we applied for that Monday, and I was able to go the next day. I woke up to the events and just was stunned.

Co-workers were expecting terrorists to charge in and start shooting... at a lumber mill that made window sills and door frames.

I just was could not get it out of my head that this was straight out of a comic book.
  17. Hey Lycanus, I am not seeing the first chapter when I check out your link.
  18. My god daughter and her friend said they both laughed when the plane crashed and it left a trail of blood.

I am so proud of her...
  19. I have a question about the use of Steam/Valve as a download site. Does it include DRMs of the games you buy?

It might be doable. I never looked at Mutants and Masterminds. Doing the weapons wouild take some research I would expect

As for enemies running for an escape, that MIGHT be cool in RARE INSTANCES, if the mission or contact explicitly warned you that part of your mission could involve preventing their planned escape. (And I'd get to chuckle at players who blindly roll through missions without reading anything.) I disagree with those who think ALL enemies ought to feel strong (or cunning) enough to face us straight-on, and suspect the origin of the sentiment is laziness.
Do you know how annoying it is when a mob can out run you, and starts near the entrance for escaping? Most bosses are immune to a single slow/hold/immob and will get away, causing you to fail the mission.

Failing is not fun, particularly when you had NO chance of success. The old college try is one thing, getting hosed for story is another.

I spend the bulk of that time killing stuff, which entails looking at my enemies, staring at my power trays, looking at my health an endurance bars, watching enemy health, surveying terrain and watching TV. I actually have to keep reminding myself to drop what I'm doing and just look at the character I'm playing. That's actually the primary reason I use Walk - to force myself to stop looking at the game pragmatically, lean back and just enjoy the costume I made. That's for characters of all genders, not just females.

Furthermore, I don't get the running animation complaints. Males may run a bit goofy, but it's still superior to the repugnant, ugly run animation females have. They bob up and down like a cork in the water, they swivel their hips for no reason and they "run with their elbows," so to speak. Every time I play a basic female character, I feel like I'm watching Peg Bundy run. Ugh! If I can, I'll try to always keep a weapon or a shield out, or otherwise constantly fly, because that running animation offends my senses.

As far as sexism goes, I can't testify to any. I used to make mostly male characters, but then Serevus showed me the plethora of amazing female designs he had. I stole a lot of his, then started making more weird concepts, and I've been experimenting with both females and males ever since. I don't know if I have an even split (I wouldn't know), but I know I don't have any preference of any specific kinds of characters requiring a specific gender. My girls range from fighters to rangers to casters to everything inbetween, and my guys are usually esoteric in some way. I have kids, I have spirits... I even have a few animals. It's too across-the-board to make any generalisations about.

However, the one instance where I WILL show sexism, though I don't know if it counts, is with "genderless" concepts. If I'm making a robot, a monster or, as of late, a swamp creature. If I have no gender characteristics to something, I'll use the basic male model as a "default humanoid shape." That doesn't mean I don't have female robots or, at the latest, a bug lady, but when I do design females, it's only if I have some reason for them to both BE and LOOK female.
Yeah, but there are days I spend an hour or more just crafting or SJing all over the game.

I suspect one could simply do better with another system using the wealth of background from 1-3rd editions.
I always wanted to run the world in GURPS. It gave the inherent balance back and allowed a great deal of flexability for the player. I just have issues with having to pay points for everything, particularly in a system where you are lucky to get 6 points in 3 game sessions, and everything costs 25 points or more. (Upgrading after creation could be more expensive. I know that the points varied from a couple for a skill up to alot for a new advantage. Yet a disadvantage could be added and completly ruin your character with no benefit to you.)

Hero system was never something I like for realism.

At times, a dedicated system is much better than a generic one.
