Microwaves are as bad for you as electric stoves. Also, microwaves destroy bacteria more effectively than anything save pure alcohol. Takes about a minute at about 1300 watts (the setting of an average microwave, they don't have adjustable settings in the States) to boil enough water for about two cups of coffee/tea/hot chocolate or bowls of instant oatmeal/ramen/whatever. Many modern apartments and houses come with microwaves built into them (usually above the stove), so they don't take up any real space (although we usually have enough counter that we can spare enough for a small microwave). Also, due to them being on for drastically less time, they wind up using less power than other electric cooking appliances. Also, most Americans have oven mitts (and ovens). Lastly, microwaveable food in America actually tastes good if you pick the right brands (Healthy Choice is pretty much cardboard), sorry to disappoint you. Especially since the "microwaveable" food you talk about was actually made for both the microwave AND the oven. By the way, you say "store-bought" as though you somehow farm and hunt your own food.

Also, as you might have inferred from the references to them, Americans, by not living in a third-world country like Europe(), are able to own a microwave AND an oven (with stove!). So, we can make our food and drinks however we want, without an electric kettle (we can use a regular kettle, or just microwave the water if we're impatient, or, here's a novel idea, just boot up our coffee maker, since we're typically getting coffee).
Personally, my fiance and I hate microwaves. The food tastes weird after heating it. Meat becomes rubbery, water tastes stale. Eggs and bacon taste bad.
  2. As an American that loves tea, I will add my 2 inf in.

I prefer an herbal tea, preferably without caffeine. I hate lipton but I do use it with other teas for sun tea.

As they said, boil the water, and place either the tea bag in, or the tea ball which contains the loose leaf tea. Tea balls can be found at the local shopping center, super market, what ever.

As for bag tea, I discovered this from a brit that used to work with my fiance. Tea pyramids. Basically the bag is in a pyramid shape. You will have to look around for it someone that sells it, but in Chico, Ca, I found some import tea at Zuchini and Vine. Harney and Sons Fine Teas. They sell the pyramid tea.

Celestial Seasonings is my favorite herbal tea, with a preference for Sleepy Time tea. The other brands just do not compare. (I am talking about American Tea companies here, import teas are a whole different ball game.)

Sweetener. It all dependss on what type of tea. For brewed cold tea, and sun tea, I suggest a 1/4 cup of C&H sugar OR less per gallon. For hot teas, honey is the only way to go. Honey, like tea, has lots of different flavors, but I just standard honey usually.

I never put milk or cream in my tea. It tastes wrong. Though I may be brewing the tea to long, and I will have to try that later on this weekend.

Nor do I dunk anything in my tea. I loathe biscotti, and rarely dunk in my coffee either.

For the record, I drink a flavored coffe usually, with 3 scoops per 12 cup pot, and I drink it black. I prefer the aroma of coffee, not the bitterness, so I drinker a slighty weaker coffee, partiularly compared to the strong teas I drink.

One of the many was a 2/3rds rule: If 2 of the following hit too close, you've gone too far: (Name+Bio+Costume/powersets).

But it varies from one poster to another.
This. Unless the charcter is offensive, (those I petition immediately) I ignore a toon unless two out of the 3 factors lend themselves to copying. If someone named Kal-El is running around, looks like Superman, and has no bio, I will petition them. I just do not make a scene about it.
  4. With all the furor over the new forum rules, I think the mods realized they were in for a world of grief, and 'accidently' flicked the forum switch while yawning.

"Oh? The forums down? Ooops" *snicker*

Oh, and a name purge has to be done. Characters which have been inactive for 12 months or longer should have their names freed up. If they reactivate and no one took the name, they can keep it. If someone else took the name, they get a free name change.

Inactive characters are taking up too much names imho. There's bound to be tens of thousands of level 1 alts with all the cool names because the original player wanted to reserve them, but he hasn;t played in years.
Wrong. Search the forums for the response on this.

I do not want the system the competitor instituted for showing ones global.

I do not want to have to rename my toons.

I do not want to lose toons due to the server limit of 36 characters.

I DO NOT WANT to be on your crowded <bleep> server just because you feel the population is dying, (Which is wrong) or you can't find a group.

All these have been said many times.
  6. The last major patch they did interfered with my internet provider and got them blocked. THere was about a week where I could not log in, literally. The log in screen kept erroring out.

Hopefully this will not be that bad.

My question to a dev, if this has not been asked yet, is; Do I need to remove what items I have up on the auction house to prevent errors? I do not feel like losing stuff.

Some people in a berserk rage do just that. Scary.

But that is not what you are talking about lol.

  10. Jake, by my own admission, my sense of humor is a bit off, but that was not a funny story. It is a good cautionary tale though.

I rarely play a tanker, and I rarely team. As a scrapper, I refuse to take taunt.

Yes I know it's useful, but to be honest, it is ony useful in a team, and only marginally so. I can't use it to pull effectively while soloing, so it becomes a wasted power.

On the other hand, despite the fact that I solo alot, both my brutes and tanks take taunt.

  13. The problem is that all the cool kids can't read.

Overall I agree that we should mark out LFG button appropriately. I keep mine marked not looking. A play session does not go by when I do not receive at least one tell or blind invite from someone who is either rude or can't read. Now, I do not go on a rant as much as I used to, but if the same person hits me up multiple times, or I keep getting spammed, I switch to decline all invites.

The tool does work, but people need to learn how to use it.
  14. Those are wonderful! Thank you both very much!
  15. Arete has a wonderful list up but alas I can not use it. Does anyone have a link to a crafting badge list that I can use? I am unable to use excel so that leaves that program out.

    Danke for your time.

You might like it, it's meant to be used for rp purposes but I'm sure somone who can enjoy Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Ultraman and etc can enjoy it.
Send me the link. I do not use AE alot, I admit, but I prefer to here from a forum poster over random searches.

  18. I had not thought of the mace for the VEAT but that would work. THere is also the widows, which focus on martial arts or claws, which would work well I think.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I will check back again and see if anything has been added. Once I make a decision, I will post it here.
  19. OK this is an opinion thread. I am looking to make a setai ranger style toon. Does anyone feel that VEAT would do the trick?

What are other power sets people could use other than dual blade, katana, and martial arts?

    Need help please!!

For example option 2 will put a muzzle on an annoying pest long enough to discourage him without having to clutter up ones ignore lists and it will still allow one to be seen on searches.

Option 1 will stop annoying blind invites leaving one free to turn it off when one decides to accept a politely worded tell looking for a teammate.

Option 1 and 7 are perfect for the soloist seeking peace and quiet.
Need to check my settings I think.

No it was not. With all you of you reasonable people acting like hot heads, I felt the knee jerk reaction in going opposite lol.

The trailer did nothing for me, truly. It's just to many big names to really make it interesting. It's one thing that there will be little character development, I can take that in a movie. It's just that there will be little screen time. With all those big names vying for their share of the pot, it's going to be a confusing mess of a film, fun action or not.

Give me a fun film with 2 or 3 of those actors and you will have my attention. With all those actors, it's a waste.

Then I run Posi and Synapse and start working on the contacts that will get me to the Freaklympics and Freakshow War arcs (a couple of my favorite arcs in the game, either side)

After them I'll run Croatoa. Occasionally I'll run Striga if I find myself in the early 20s with nothing to do.

Redside I generaly just follow whichever contact I feel like running at the moment, no particular rhyme or reason to it.
I am more inclinced to follow the new Faultline missions, and try to get the early badges rather than deal with the Hollows. I like the Ourobos stuff, and enjoy being able to go back and do missions I missed.

(Devs!! Please allow for Ourobos mayhem and safeguard missions, and please allow the redside to get the glodbrickers pack from Ourobos!!)

As for TFs, I prefer not to run those at all. Some of my toons want to run the Katie Hannon run for the hat, and the Imperious TF(?) for the armor, but that's it. My first experience with a TF sucked.

The tanks and other players were very good, and new what they were doing, but it took us 5 and 1/2 hours to run it. We did not schedule for it, so it ruined our day.

In the end, each to their own.

At least the Hollows has a story arc in it.
  23. As pretentious as Eat, Pray, Love..

It will be a decent rental though I admit the FX alone are going to be awesome on the big screen. And I hate to burst anyone's testosterone bubble, but movies with that much ego rarely do well in theatre. despite being favorites.

Now, fortunately for me, my fiance would prefer The Expendables to Eat, Pray, Love. I mean, seriously, that is definately a rental at best.

My level 33 tank recently endured a string of, I think it was four Council hunt missions in a row, for a contact. Four. Some may view this as "variety," people like me see it as poor storytelling. Its not really an inducement for me to run a lot of heroside contact stuff.

But especially as a level four, I don't find it compelling to be sent to an opposite corner of the map for each mission, or to be sent to the opposite corners of different zones - that's just a nuisance, not good storytelling. I won't even get into not being given a phone number until mission #12 of a contact storyline. Stupid?! I guess so, at least over here. Mileage will vary.
Been thinking about this awhile now, but I would love for them to drop all the street hunt missions and the hazard zone missions that are not connected to a story arc. I hate being sent into Perez to fight CoT at lvl 7, or being asked to delve deep into Boomtown to take on Clockwork at lvl 12. I mean the spawn size alone can wipe most of my toons out, never mind that many of the spawns are Orange and Red.

    What? They don't sparkle?

    Ok kidding, kidding.

I personally still avoid the Hollows. I am not fond of hazard zones anyway, and I have already did the missions once, and did not enjoy them. Forcing myself to do them again makes no sense. At best I do is take Wincott's missions and auto-complete them.
