  1. The only way to implement this fairly is to also create a men-only server.

Oh wait, that would be sexist. Funny how that works, isn't it?
  2. So I was tooling around on my warshade, and I got to thinking: is it possible to softcap a kheldian's defenses? I haven't seen much talk about it.

Perhaps the better question is, is it feasible? Would I need purple or pvp IOs or can standard set bonuses get me up there - preferably without gimping my offense?

    M. E. R. I. T.

Dare I say, this idea has ... merit?
  4. Getting my demon/therm out of Praetoria would be great.
  5. Not especially impressive, but I'd be willing to 5-slot it (minus the proc) in an attack for the goodies it does offer. Psi protection being hard to come by outside of certain powersets and all.

This of course depends on how many PPs it would cost to buy 5/6.

  7. Love this thought.

+ however many votes I have available to throw at it. Which probably totals 1, but just in case ....
  8. For me it depends on the individual character, and the individual plot element. When they run into a part of the story that interests them, they go after it. When none of the available story arcs really matches their interests, they do their own thing.
  9. /Signed.

I'm tired of looking at that silly yellow aura every time I activate anything from Flight or Leaping, and the fist-glow of Hasten looks even more ridiculous.
  10. Am I crazy, or is there some synergy between Granite's near-invulnerability and the recharge debuffs of the Ice attacks? It sounds good in my head (and I have a character concept in mind that might fit), but does it work in-game?

    My thought process:

Being on a less-than-generous budget, I'm not really able to stack copious amounts of recharge, so I figured on just overwhelming Granite's recharge penalty by grabbing most of my secondary and maybe an ancillary pool attack or two. Ice (from my reading on the forum) has a lot of good attacks in it, plus a recharge debuff to the targets. Hey, if I'm going to be slowed, why not share the love?

So ... am I misreading things or is this a literal "mighty glacier" character?

Maybe that's the point - the artist is trying to start a betting pool on how far that robot's gonna fly once States connects.
  12. I usually start with an AT/powerset combo in mind, and build the character concept around that. Occasionally it goes the other way round, but not often.

With or without the party prep?
  15. Signed. I can literally count on one hand the number of chest details that don't look ridiculous on anything besides a solid-color spandex top.
  16. "Some", yes. But what about those poor saps who chose a defense-heavy primary and can't hope to reach those monster resist numbers?

Unless you've heard of something new?
    C for me.

Even better would be the ability to swing one bad guy at another, and skip the player-abuse part.
  18. Wait, I though the HP cap for heavy melee types was somewhere in the 3-4k range.

So you're saying this Bobcat swings for roughly twice a tank's hp in damage, pre-mitigation?

    Forum Bug

    Persistent bugger, ain't he?

I considered rigging it to respawn him several times around the map at random, then I remembered how annoying that was when I played through someone else's arc that did that.

Here's something I knocked out in a couple hours.

Not a high-polish job, but you get to beat up Forum Bug, and trash his computer too if you feel like it.

Therein lies the problem. On everything BUT FPS games, the standard is A/D for turning, Q/E for strafing if strafing is an available command. CoH is not a FPS, and if it ever starts to behave like one, I'm quitting.

    1. The defaults for the turn/strafe actions are backwards, compared to conventional game layout. Basic game control conventions exist for a reason; going for a counterintuitive setup doesn't make your game look cool - it makes your game look like it was made by idiots.

    2. Most options have to be toggled individually for every single character you make. Really, Paragon/NCSoft? In a game that prides itself in its ability to induce altitis?

    3. Hit-and-miss power documentation. Many of the plain-language descriptors on the various powers do diddly towards explaining what that power does. I often have to dig into the detailed info to figure out how to use a new ability, which in turn required me to update my glossary of terms via info from other players on the forums. And nothing in-game gives you any clue about when you can expect access to a given power, outside of the pool powers.

This is the only part of the character designer that gets to me, because it's mechanically unworkable no matter how you try to spin it. Heels are categorically a bad idea if you're going to be doing anything even remotely as physically active as fighting (or committing) crime.

It's been tested by martial artists; and those tests clearly demonstrated that, given roughly-equal skills and physical attributes, a fighter in flat soles will DOMINATE a fighter in heels - period.

Unless your character is in permanent hover/fly mode and never gets involved in melee combat, you're violating a pretty basic law of combat anatomy by donning heels.

    A not real rant!

Powerset proliferation? Really? Giving things to other AT's that once belonged only to a few? What's next? Super Strength for scrappers?

A new primary/secondary in Time Manipulation? A powerset that I am anxiously awaiting while activally trying not to hold my breath. Seriously I have not been this excited about a powerset since Dual Blades and Willpower.

Titan Weapons? A set that takes my freakish love of Anime and FF7 (Advent Children) and gives me an outlet to play said set while being a hero?

What's next? Making it so if I happen to miss a month's payment I can still play? Calling it Freedom and making it so I can choose when I want to pay?

Seriously Devs, I am so apointed (read; opposite of DISapointed) with the direction this game is going, I may just renew my subscription and keep playing.

This game has finally "gone to the americans"

*The above not real rant is a tongue in cheek reference to the doom criers and nay sayers. I love this game, I love this community, and in all the games I have played, never have the Devs listened to the players as much as in this game. Excellent work Devs, and please keep it up. You are only making me happier and happier with each new announcement*
Not real sarcastic response attempting to assassinate the OP's character without contributing anything.

Look on the bright side, Sam. CoH acknowledges that women can fight. That's better than the shake they usually get in advertising or pro wrestling.
