I'd punch my screen so hard the arc writer's nose would break.
But really, I like this idea. I'm not sure about the mechanical aspects of implementing it, but I can it see happening. I mean, we can make Bosses scale down with difficulty settings, so maybe it could work the other way, too. -
Quote:Well, "tow the line" is one of those really common errors that drive me irrationally crazy because my priorities are demented. Plus, after I posted, I realized that the 'e' and 'w' keys are right freakin' next to each other, so you could've meant to use the correct word, but your finger slipped. So now I feel like a dope.I was debating which one to use, but was too lazy to look up the actual phrase.
See, if you'd posted "wto hte lien", I'd've been more justified in calling you on it. -

Quote:Toe the line. As in putting one's toes at the edge of a line and standing at attention. Not chaining a line that's had a transmission failure to a pickup truck and taking it to a repair shop or well-equipped garage.Additionally, it seems that Praetoria is a relativity nice place to live provided you tow the line.
Seems like it's a better place that the Rogue Isles at any rate.
Gettin' back on topic, I'm going to wait and see what sort of behavior members of each side get up to before passing judgement on whether any opportunities were missed. It's been stated (I think on the site, maybe an interview, I'll double-check) that players can pick to be either Heroes or Villains at 20 regardless of what Praetorian faction they start as, so I can see a lot of room for gray area in Praetorian missions. -

Quote:Wait, are we talking about Sword Summoner or Musou Senshouzan? Because I only have a Beetles parody song for one of them.Sword Blast: They Devs probably know enough about how well that went over in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger to not risk the endless RAGE in game.
Either way, we'll probably never see Electric Frog Control for similar reasons. -
Quote:You know, the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the reasons behind them, bring up another interesting point: Sometimes you can't do the right thing. You have to settle for doing the least wrong thing. Dropping nuclear bombs on a couple cities was a terrible thing to do, but the alternative was a long, agonizing war which would've been even worse. There's a local peace group that celebrates Hiroshima annually. I know one of leaders (former teacher of mine). I asked about what they thought about Nanjing, plus the various movements of the Japanese government to cover it up, hide it, or at least minimize it (even including news stories and the like for her to reference). Surely that would better show the horrors of war than the bombing of Hiroshima? After all the group tried to raise awareness of things going on in the world at the personal level. And given we're in Hawai'i, its a relevant part of history to more than a small portion of the population, maybe even giving insight into why North Korea likes to fire test missles now and then in Japan's direction, etc.
She never wrote back on the matter.
While I don't like it (nukes = yuck), I think it was better than the alternative they thought they had (long, ugly land war). And the US did a lot to help Japan rebuild after that, also.
Of course, at the root, I wish Japan never decided to invade anyone. That's one thing to be considered, too - what was the root of things? There's a lot of things that happened, good and bad, that never would've if the problem never happened in the first place! Yes, I'm sure there's stuff going back further, but you still have to be accountable for your own decisions. -
Quote:I personally define good and evil by examining three aspects: Action, motive, and target. Some actions are generally considered to be evil, such as shooting someone in the face. That's a pretty evil thing to do, right? But what if it was 1942, and the person you shot was Adolf Hitler? (Yes, I just Godwin'd the thread, bear with me.) Wouldn't killing Hitler be considered a good thing? Certainly better than letting him go on his way.
- Rouge: Dr. Robotnik is rich. Steal everything you can, manipulate everyone into helping.
- E-123 Omega: Dr. Robotnik offended me by saying I'm obsolete. I want to destroy virtually everything he owns out of spite.
- Shadow: Can't remember my past Rouge says if I help her rob this Robotnik fellow blind, she'll help me find my memories.
- Team Dark: Destroy Dr. Robotnik.
So, for selfish, violent, and greedy reasons, they play a key role in saving the world.
Are they heroes or villains?
Is "Hero" defined by the intention of your action or its result? If it's result, Team Dark is one of the greatest hero teams in Sonic Lore. If it's intent, they need to be locked up alongside the Eggman.
Discuss.
But then, killing Hitler as a child would be evil, because he hadn't done anything wrong at that point.
So, Team Dark are not evil, at least not entirely. Rouge is actually the closest to being evil, both in her willingness to steal whatever she wants (which is generally bad), and her willingness to manipulate the others. The fact that Rouge's current victim is Doctor Robotnik, however, makes her at least temporarily heroic. Omega is heroic as well. Yes, he intends to crush and destroy everything that made him an outcast, but that means essentially wiping out the entire army of an evil overlord, which is a good thing.
Shadow just wants his memories back, a desire which leads him to follow Rouge around and help her against Robotnik. He's not bad, just lost, and in the process of finding himself does a lot of good for the world. -
I really, really like my Dual Pistols/Ice Manipulation Blaster. For a Blaster, she's exceptionally difficult to kill.

What server are you on, and is anything else affecting your network connection? I've been playing on Triumph and having no problems.

Quote:I believe that's being caused by more people trying to pre-purchase Going Rogue than the online store's software can handle. Your best bet is to just wait it out.Hi, not sure if this is the right place to bring this up, but it's been a while since I've been to the forums and I'm all disoriented.
I tried pre-purchasing GR today but when I do, after I enter my card's information and after it asks me to confirm the purchase, it gives me a message that goes something like this:
"We're sorry, but we are unable to accept your order at this time. Please try again later or tomorrow. If you continue to have problems, you may wish to visit one of our retail partners."
I live in New Jersey and I had no problem purchasing the Martial Arts $10.00 booster last night, so I don't see why my region would be a problem, or why they can't accept my order "at this time?"
I would appreciate any help with this-- I'm super-excited to start feeding people lead sandwiches. -
I made a mage with magical talking guns that speak broken German. I thought that she was pretty creative, but I'm pretty sure the zombie cowboys outdo her on sheer radness.

But there are also special advantages to prepurchasing! When you prepurchase Going Rogue you'll get early access to both the Dual Pistols and the Demon Summoning power sets. Dual Pistols will be available immediately upon prepurchase, and Demon Summoning will come shortly thereafter with the launch of Issue 17.[...]
I think Mister Snakey Snake-Type there pretty well sums up my opinion here. I'm gonna go make those lovely Dual Pistols Blasters I've wanted to have on the live servers for so long now. -
I usually take travel powers right at Level 14, in direct contrast to apparently everyone else. Although I have a few characters who I plan to just use Ninja Run with, the rest either have a travel power or haven't hit 14 yet.

I've noticed the same behavior with the Circle of Thorns' Thorn Casters. More like Thorn Pansies, really. They usually flee as soon as they realize I know they're there. Earth Thorn Pansies -I mean, Casters, are the worst, since they like to drop Quicksand before charging off in the direction of not where the fight is happening, making it impossible to run them down and actually lower their HP.
It's not so bad on my Blasters, but melee characters suffer a lot. Especially Brutes, who of course fight best when enemies are attacking them, not fleeing in terror. -
