- Some minor cleanups and validation that it still worked right in I15. -
Arc Name: Halloween Night
Arc ID: 227436

1 Mission. Lots of Trick and Treat items (Glowies) + a boss (now)
This is suppose to be a fun arc, with humor spread throughout. Please try it and let me know!

Notes: Lots of Trick and Treat items (Glowies). The Glowies have fun text for when you click on them, get interrupted, etc. As do the mobs that are wandering about.

Lowdown This Halloween based one mission arc is basically a trick or treat gone wrong. The contact is awesome looking and a variety of new what I I like to call "sexy witches" are added to the mix of standards you would expect at Halloween. The dialog and text are amusing, but some humor opportunities were missed. Taking place on a large map, that though appropriate, it makes finding the needed glowies a bit of a chore.
Funny Level Amusing
Fun Level - Pretty fun, but searching for that last glowie can drain some of that away.
Lets up it to 11! Add some funny clues when you find things. Rather than a straight glowie hunt maybe add in a boss. Some lost trick or treaters would provide another place to inject humor.
Overall Rating For a quick little amusing arc it is worth a play and since I was the first to play it I am betting it will only get better with time and tweaks.

Thanks for the Review WN!
I was thinking of adding clues onto the Glowies... I needed a bit more time to think about just what I wanted to say there, and I still have some space left in the arc (around 8%), but I felt ATM it was about 90% or so of where I wanted it, so was ready to publish it and get reviews. Since it is always hard to decide where to tweak things to until others try it out
The number of glowies was basically just a number I pulled out (3 groups of 3, so 9 total). I wanted it on one of the graveyard like maps, which forced the size to be big, and I wanted it show up with lots of glowies (so the good and the bad ones), but wasn't sure just how many to add. I know having tested it numerous times it does take a bit to find all the glowies, but was part of the idea.
I like the idea of the Lost Trick or Treaters... I probably don't have the room with the current size of the file (I think it is 11 Custom chars already) (maybe in I15 where the size gets reduced slightly, then I can add in like 3 trick or treating customs chars, and just have group(s) of them wandering around that talk).
As for a Boss addition - I though about it, but wasn't sure how to do it right or trigger it right... I could make it just an objective that is optional or such?. I almost added a Boss Objective vs. the 3rd Battle objective. And I agree, a Boss would add more places for humorous dialog, I see what I can do with that thought.
Thanks again for the review, and any pointers/answers to the above to help clean it up a bit more would be appreciated!
Take Care,
Bink -

1) Play the one of my arcs below that most closely matches the length of the arc you are submitting.
1 Missions Trademark Infringement (2220)
2-3 Missions Death to Disco (84420)
4-5 Missions Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day Kids! (2019)
[/ QUOTE ]
So I've run Death to Disco (a while back, and you ran my one arc that was up and gave me some good feedback) .. and just ran Trademark Infringement (yesterday).
I have to say I loved all the custom critters Costumes, text, and dialog in Trademark Infringement. Was great!
So I'm submitting my new single mission Arc for this

How many other builders (particularly those that like to build story-centric arcs) change the character descriptions in the field provided when you're using custom NPCs. For example, I'm creating an extended battle arc, so each time you see an NPC, he or she is more tired, with more injuries, etc. So, each time they appear, their description changes.
My other question is, how many people really make an effort to right click and info NPCs each time they're in a different misison?
[/ QUOTE ]
I try to spend time make my Custom chars have info, and do change it at times in the mission arc.
Also I always sit there with the info read to be read when running Mission Arch Arcs .. I like to read what people put in the info. -

Since there are so many EPIC, I'll have to start running through at least 2-3 a day, if possible. I'd like to be through all the arcs by month's end..that's my plan anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
2-3 a day sounds like funWish I had that time, but not anymore.
Looking forward to the reviews, so I can add ones that you like to my list to run (its getting long, but I've found such fun ones this way)
-

No kidding and this is just the Epics list...I have 2 other threads
[/ QUOTE ]
So how is all that coming Altaholic? That is a lot of work. -
Well I know when I run my arc I can run it relatively quickly (depending on the char I am on).. since no Kill Alls, couple glowie clicks, etc...
But again - thanks for finding the time to do this Altoholic, and I hope you enjoy all of these arcs -

Dear EPIC creators
According to notes, I have 43 Epic arcs in my review queue.
I am going to halt acceptance of EPIC arcs for now, until I get through this first batch.
My other two review threads are still accepting submissions, if you have shorter arcs. I can get through the Independents and Sequels faster than the Epics.
Thank you all for allowing me to review your works!

Thanks for trying to find the time to play all of those and review them Altoholic. -

Nice work Biostem
That is a good set of definition (other then the missing Primary and Secondary sets)
Oh BTW the Secondary missing is Trick Arrow -

Quick question about Explosives;
Wouldn't Necromancy be good with Explosives? I mean, send in all characters, set a Grave Knight or Zombie to explode and rez a ghost from it? I'm just curious 'cause I was thinking about playing one and that seemed wise.
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean the Traps Detonator?
The issue with the Traps Detonator is the limited Range and time.
So you have to be close to the Pet to destroy, and it goes off very shortly after you hit the power.
Plus the detonator needs some Accuracy and Damage Enhancements (as usual) to do good damage.
But yes with Necromancy, you could explode the Pet and then Rez it as a ghost. -

redwood, give up on this and make another equally bad guide we can bash on, this was fun. ( I didnt do any "bashing" really but it was still fun)
[/ QUOTE ]
This one was deliberately dumbed down as a "quick pick" guide for newbies who want to decide what type of mastermind to pick. It's hardly MY fault if a bunch o yahoos decided that a quick and dirty "feel o the archetype" guide needed to be an in depth discussion of the arcane workings of one particular secondary set.
Too bad the first microencephallic who tried to claim that I'd never played */Traps apparently doesn't even have a */Traps of his own to compare to mine. It's truly fun when someone plants their foot so firmly in their mouth.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but Red - not everyone who complained on your */Traps discussion is like that. I have a Bots/Traps (listed in my Sig), and I've made some points in here as well. I think the issue was your discussion of trap really didn't even come close to doing it justice, and would lead people to not try it, if they followed your guide, due to your very limited interpretation of it.
I believe the reason we jumped on that one, vs the rest, was really due to that reason. Traps has never been all about pulling (yes that is one thing it does VERY well), but even given that its just hard to state that is its main point, just like the mention of Caltrops as a key power of it, is a misnomer.
I've also done a Thugs/Pois MM (currently at 19) and I can tell ya that the things I can do in a battle with my Bots/Traps with the Traps FAR outway what I can do with the Poison (Currently). And this is all about just how aggressive I can be on the Bots/Traps with the MM char (vs the pets) even when that char was at the same level. Most of that was due to things like the Force Field Generator (plus the Protector Bots Shields) and such like. Not Caltrops.
Again this is just my opinion, and the basic guide is yours. -
BTW- Traps - Poison Trap has been a Hold since day one of CoV. Back when it started they use to vomit from it, then it didn't for a while when the broke it, and then they finally fixed it (forget when, check the patch notes
).
The Poison - Poison trap - was a sleep.
And by far my favorite items in the Traps set are:
1) Force Field Gen - With this (and my Protector Bot's Shields I am almost unhittable)
2) Poison trap - I teleport at the baddies, and drop this all the time.
3) Acid Mortar - nothing like a high hit point device, that debuffs, and annoys the baddies
4) Web Grenade - Lock em down, so the bots can take em, out with annoying others (And I spam it all the time).
Caltrops are great for corner pulls, but by far not the best power in the set. Do I corner pull yes? Is it the only way? No. If I corner pull it is basically, drop Caltrop, drop a Trip Mine, and a Poison Trap, launch a Seeker drones, and bring em back to me. The caltrops are actually there so they trip the Mines and the Poison Trap, and stay in the right spot, otherwise they speed past them and out of the effects.
I've had every power in traps, I use almost every power (triage beacon is great for what it is worth, and has saved my life a ton). The only power in traps that was just too hard to use, and not worth it is was Detonator - looked cool- but sucked over all. Hence my respec on my Bots/Traps MM at 47.
If you feel caltrops to be the best power in the set, then you're welcome to your opinion, I think others here are just trying to point out that Traps isn't just corner pulls, you can be highly aggressive with it as well (read poison trap, seekers, etc).
But then this is just my opinion. -

Traps: Villain version of blaster Devices secondary, with a few modifications. Like Devices, it works best with corner pulls, dropping trops on the corner and pulling baddies onto them. If you're a pulling type personality who likes to have a good retreat option always available, this is your powerset.
[/ QUOTE ]
that is a really poor description.
If you're gonna write something up you should probably play it first.
[/ QUOTE ]
Very much agree - traps is a great set - more then just caltrops.. They are nice but no where near a cornerstone of the power set.
